I just realized how similar the Coronavirus is to the Ing. They made the Luminoth fall while their civilization was at their peak. Even when the Luminoth sent out their best warriors, made advanced machines specialized in exterminating Ing, and attempted finding anti-Ing technology, they either didn't work as well as thought at best or the Ing turned it against them.



Similarly, the Coronavirus is turning our healers, doctors, nurses, etc, against us when they themselves get infected. The Ing were able to take down the highest echelons of the Luminoth civilization; the Coronavirus has infected even world leaders.



These are what I can think of for now, but if the Coronavirus made the infected eventually lose their humanity and made them highly aggressive and animalistic to the point of attacking others, than the comparison would be complete because infection may as well be possession if that were the case.
