  1. [01:32] Miran Tsuchai says, "Er- actually-"
  2. [01:33] Miran Tsuchai says, "I did want to speak to you personally, if you're not still the man of the hour"
  3. [01:33] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "Sure."
  4. [01:33] {Item} You picked up Fried Eggs. Dropped by Sarasha Fenrir. .
  5. [01:35] Miran Tsuchai says, "I suppose it wasn't necessary to be this private, but if you're looking to leave afterwards this is the easiest way directly down"
  6. [01:35] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "It's fine. I use the tunnels."
  7. [01:35] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "I was looking for Sarasha."
  8. [01:36] Miran Tsuchai says, "Oh- I saw her on the way over, in the wooden cabin of hers last time I saw her"
  9. [01:37] Cameo Orn Octavius asks, "I'll check around there after we finish. Something troubling you?"
  10. [01:38] He pauses for a moment, giving an apprehensive look.
  11.
  12. "You.. said once that you'd learnt some of the druidic arts, even if you struggled to tap into them, right?"
  13. (Miran Tsuchai)
  14.
  15.
  16. [01:39] "I did. Aaaaand I do still have my connection to it. It hasn't come up as recently. A Druid connects with the spirits. I've choosen the spirit of winter and cold."
  17.
  18. The explanation was easily given, looking to Miran but otherwise remaining silent. "Why?"
  19. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  20.
  21.
  22. [01:45] He pauses again, taking the answer in. With a deep breath inwards, the look of apprehension partially melts away.
  23.
  24. "I- would make the request you teach me, if you choose to do so. If not the arts themselves, at least about them."
  25.
  26. He takes a moment, eyes wandering around the plants sitting in the tiny cottage.
  27.
  28. "For a while, I idolized the Druids- you, I believe, saw me do so. Everything that happened with moonfall drained that away, to see what they allowed, but... to know now that some did leave, choose to move elsewhere, but end up cut down or lost for it..."
  29.
  30. Another deep breath inwards.
  31.
  32. "I wouldn't want to see what they believed in, and died for, lost."
  33. (Miran Tsuchai)
  34.
  35.
  36. [01:50] The pair of hazel eyes would stare at Miran, Cameo's hands moving into his pockets and curling into fists.
  37.
  38. "Iiiiiiiii can't say I'm too much of a teacher of it. Not that I can't, juuuuust can't say I've felt reason to. That was more of Cairn's thing, but he's dead. So the rest of it, I had to look into on my own."
  39.
  40. His foot tapped on the wooden flooring.
  41.
  42. "Can't say I like everything that happened in Moonfall. They see me and treat me better then Orsona, buuuuuut I've no interest in their religion, or dark lords, or stuff like that. Iiiiiii went there to become a Druid, and just learned what I could."
  43.
  44. "Passing that along? I could do it. Buuut you'd have to give me major reason to teach you specifically."
  45.
  46. "So I'll just give you one question. What's the difference between Druids and nature mages?"
  47. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  48.
  49.
  50. [02:02] Miran's eyes just sit, staring directly back at Cameo's as he speaks. His eyes soften at the mention of Cairn, and his death, as thoughts of the other Druids he'd met, and had lost time time, drifted in along with it.
  51.
  52. He just nods at the discussion of Moonfall, he'd seen the other man's success there, and what that entailed.
  53.
  54. "I understand that this is.. an investment, amongst other things, particularly given... us. Still..."
  55.
  56. He stops, thinking for a moment. His eyes level over to the chalkboard in the back, and the cryptic notes and doodles of monsters covering it like an eclectic notepad.
  57.
  58. "From what I understand- or, believe, at least- is that to be a Druid is to touch the forces behind nature itself, to be in-tune with it, to hear the spirits of the world and their voices through the rustling of the leaves, and their will in the changing of seasons."
  59.
  60. "As a nature Magi- I touch the trees, the plants, channel myself into the earth to have it respond to me in the simple ways I call it. I don't.. see the living creature, the living whole, of the powers I call on, just the effects I can tangentially create in the world. Like- the difference between an wind magi calling upon a gust, and the way the wind itself blows as it must"
  61. (Miran Tsuchai)
  62.
  63.
  64. [02:07] "By Carin's words? Yoooooou'd be wrong."
  65.
  66. Cameo would stand up more, starting to walk across the room.
  67.
  68. "It's not that the Druid is able to touch the forces of nature. It's not that a druid can hear the spirits. You're thinking too much as a nature mage."
  69.
  70. He insisted. "Anyone can learn magic to manipulate plants if they tried. We can touch trees, animals. It's more then that. What you're doing is controlling nature. By what Cairn taught, Druidism is the exact opposite."
  71.
  72. "Don't control it. Let it control you. Let the spirits of the world guide you, let nature take hold and lead you. Let the nature be the forefront, and just work how it wants to be moved. Thaaat's what Cairn taught me about Druidism."
  73.
  74. "So, take that and work on it a little. Oooonce I feel like you understand what it means? Then I'll teach you a next step. But let that world move, and be guided by it. "
  75. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  76.
  77.
  78. [02:17] His head tilts to the side slightly at the explanation, an intense focus falling across his face as his eyes follow Cameo.
  79.
  80. "I... think I understand. Not to touch the spirits, to hear them through the world but-"
  81.
  82. He stops for a second, rolling the words in his mind.
  83.
  84. "To have them touch you, speak into and through you, as they do with the natural world. To become as much of an extension of them as the forest, the trees, and the cycle of life within both is?"
  85.
  86. His head again turns to the chalkboard, before shifting back to Cameo.
  87.
  88. "I- Hadn't realized this, but it feels as though it's been in front of me the whole time."
  89. (Miran Tsuchai)
  90.
  91.
  92. [02:21] The rabbit would have moved over to the fire place, taking a seat on top of it, then leaning against the wall. The pair of hazels looked towards Miran.
  93.
  94. "Yeah. Iiiit's something that's in front of us, but we don't really think about it until we hear it."
  95.
  96. "Nature isn't like wind, or water, or fire, or time, or gravity. Nature is a living magic, unlike that which is controlled by energy. Aaaand the Druids are the ones who thought about how it was living, and took it in. The one's who listened to the voices, acted on it, and let the voices guide them."
  97.
  98. "Thaaat's what druids are. People who are almost more nature, and act more for nature then for people. Cairn was like that, living for his bugs and his vale. Iiiiiit's why he fought the knights, to keep them out of a free forest that doesn't want them."
  99.
  100. "He was guided by the nature spirits. As all druids are."
  101. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  102.
  103.
  104. [02:34] Miran continues to stand, following Cameo's movements intensely- although, not particularly concerned with them, as much as the person initiating them. He nods, slowly, as the takes in the information.
  105.
  106. "I... This helps me understand moonfall more, I think. Cairn, I suppose, most outwardly embodied this idea, but I can see it in how others acted, in ways I didn't then."
  107.
  108. "I still- I suppose I don't fully understand what it would mean to have the spirits act through you, and to give yourself to that, but the elements of nature that're wild, inhuman, yet still necessary for life- I understand now, why those were so important there, to be honoured and perpetuated."
  109.
  110. His head turns away for a moment.
  111.
  112. "I- That nature is alive, that it has direct voices and wills to allow through you- I suppose that helps me understand much more than i'd thought."
  113. (Miran Tsuchai)
  114.
  115.
  116. [02:39] Cameo nodded.
  117.
  118. "Iiiiiit's easiest for me to see after living among them and having made Cairn teach me. Iiiii'm sure that some of the other Druids might have taught in different ways, but the circle was pretty much dissolving so I only saw one."
  119.
  120. "Still, I think he was onto it. The spirits are alive. You listen to them. The nature spirits guide you to how best to further it's nature and power, and by taking that in, you become a druid. Action, thought, aaaa lot mixed together. It's wild, not completely civil."
  121.
  122. "He taught me more later. Sooooo I'll teach you that later. But for now?"
  123.
  124. Cameo cast his gaze backwards towards Miran over his shoulder.
  125.
  126. "Thaaaaaat's what he covered in his first lesson. So that's what I'll cover in mine. Not more."
  127. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  128.
  129.
  130. [02:46] As Cameo explains more, his eyes remain glued to the rabbit man, internal cogs already turning and fitting the information together with what he already knew, and tossing aside his previous notions.
  131.
  132. "I'll.. think more on this, in the interim. It sounds to me like he was onto it too- I didn't speak much with him, but what I heard in snippets and fragments from the others makes sense, knowing this."
  133.
  134. He nods again, at the implicit end of the lesson, and the words that accompanied it.
  135.
  136. "I understand, this is more than enough to think on and truly understand for one session."
  137.
  138. He pauses for a moment.
  139.
  140. "...and, thank you, for this."
  141. (Miran Tsuchai)
  142.
  143.
  144. [02:48] "Good. Think on it. Understand it. Aaaaaaaaand find a spirit that's willing to work with you. That's what Cairn set me on doing after the first lesson. And yeah, Cairn was onto a lot."
  145.
  146. "It's a shame he's gone."
  147.
  148. There was, perhaps, a genuine unhappiness that the Druid hadn't been around to see Cameo complete his training, or that the circle of Druids seemed to have faded over time. A shake of his head, a dream no longer obtainable as he would jump off the top of the counter.
  149.
  150. "Yeah. Juuuuuuust keep the work coming. Do good work, get good returns. That's the Syndicate. The reports are good."
  151.
  152. He nodded to Miran, then started to slowly depart for the door.
  153. (Cameo Orn Octavius)
  154.
  155.
  156. [02:50] Miran Tsuchai says, "Will do. I'm.. keeping track of things, and you'll be the first to know whenever I find anything new- about everything, I suppose."
  157. [02:51] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "The more things kept track of, the better. Aaaaand tell me which spirit you end up working with."
  158. [02:52] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "Cairn had his insect queen. I have my winter."
  159. [02:52] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "Nature's aspects are many."
  160. [02:52] Cameo Orn Octavius says, "Peace among us. War between them."
  161. [02:52] Miran Tsuchai says, "Of course, Peace among us. War between them"
