  24. 1) Who is Hoshimachi Suisei?
  25. A idol Virtual YouTuber, was originally an indie who started in 2018 but would then join hololive's new music label, INNK Music, and later she would join as a member of hololive's "Generation 0" in December 2019. Her dream is to perform in the Budoukan one day.

  27. 2) Why are people fans of her?
  28. A variety of reasons: 1- her songs; 2- her charisma; 3- her story which inspires people.

  30. 3) She has a big overseas fanbase in comparison to other hololiveJP members, why?
  31. Multiple reasons. Singing is a universal language, everybody understands that, her clips are relatively famous and that attracts new overseas people, her reactions are easy to gauge even if you don't understand the language, etc.

  33. 4) Cometomos or hoshiyomis?
  34. When Suisei was indie, her fanbase was called cometomos. In 2019, she joined INNK, the music label made by Cover Corp and her fanbase name changed from cometomo to hoshiyomi.

  36. 5) Why did the fanbase's name change?
  37. After joining INNK, she asked her manager if she should change the fanbase name to something else since she thought "it will sound similar to 'soratomo'(Tokino Sora's fanbase)", the manager said yes, and so, the fanbase name changed to hoshiyomi. She didn't realize at the time that different hololive members, like Oozora Subaru, already had XXX-tomo as fanbase name.

  42. Karaokes are also a good place to start watching her, although they are becoming rarer these days (May 2023).

  44. 7) What's the deal with Tetris?
  45. She likes the game, she began to play it because of her mother, Suisei practiced, and she got gradually better at it. Now it's one of those games that became part of her streaming sessions and one of her defining traits.

  47. 8) Is it true that she's Russian/Russian descendant?
  48. No, it was a joke made several years ago, before she became Hoshimachi Suisei, related to her being good at Tetris. People took it too literally.

  50. 9) I've noticed her voice changed, why?
  51. She went to visit a doctor because she had throat problems, Suisei was told that her old voice was putting a lot of strain on her vocal cords. To make sure that she could continue streaming for a long time and, more importantly, singing, she decided to switch to a more natural tone.

  53. 10) What was the surgery she had for?
  54. She had nodes around her vocal cords that made her have a dripping nose, and could affect her singing. These nodes could come back in the future and will need to be taken care of again.

  57. When she was still in INNK, she played with other hololive members to Project Winter. There, she showed a "psychopathic" behavior, check clip below for further context.

  60. 12) If Suisei were to leave hololive, would she keep the character?
  61. It would depend on the contract that was signed when she joined Cover Corp. Of course, only Suisei knows the exact details and what she gave up when she joined. We only know that, according to Japanese copyright laws, she can't legally give up her full rights to the character. The model she currently uses belongs to Cover Corp, though, she'd probably have to make a new one if she were to leave hololive.

  63. 13) Why does Suisei spells Suichan as Suityan? Is there any difference?
  64. It's Suichan if you use Hepburn romanization of Japanese characters, and Suityan if you use Nihon-shiki/Kunrei-shiki romanization (this is more commonly used in Japan, as they were pushed by their government for years, contrary to Hepburn which somewhat reflects spellings of certain characters in English). In 2024, Japan has definetely adopted Hepburn as the official romanization now.
  65. Either way, if you are using Japanese IME, it doesn't matter whether you type in Suichan or Suityan, because it will always be すいちゃん.

  67. 14) Who is Anemachi?
  68. Anemachi is Suisei's older sister. She sometimes appears in the background of her streams or as a special guest in certain occasions. She likes BL (yaoi) and talks to her stuffed animals when she's alone. Had the dream of becoming an idol, but she passed it to Suisei. Amane Kanata said that Anemachi and Suisei look extremely alike except for the chest, Anemachi's breasts are bigger. Regarding her family, there is also Hahamachi who often watches Suisei's streams, is a member of her channel and speaks English well enough to be able to scold Suisei from time to time for her bad English, although she's not a teacher. Her dad also watches the streams but not that often, he's aloof and stoic. Despite this, both are extremely happy for Suisei's career

  76. She isn't against them and doesn't mind them, but she can't nor will pander to them since she doesn't want to treat any fan differently. She wants people to remember that it will always be a one-sided love.

  79. Pieces is her 4th original song, funded by BiliBili for her to sing in BILIBILI MACRO LINK 2020.
