- 2:21:54 PM <Nick> You and your friends have been waiting a long time for the first snowfall of the year. Now, it's early december and the mountains are painted white. You all got bundled up and took the car out to the nearest ski hill, bought your tickets, and now you're riding the long lift up. Your friend Jan is on the ski lift with you, and you've been talking about various things, but the chatter has died down and there's a lull in the conversation.
- 2:22:55 PM <Nick> ((In your post include your name and a few subjects that the conversation might have covered)) ||
- 2:23:23 PM <-> Teruzi is now known as Teruzi|Lucy
- 2:24:10 PM <-> You are now known as Nick|GM
- 2:24:28 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Lucy has been babbling about college and stuff. How this might be one of the last few times she and her friends get to actually feel alive! This are her golden years! Too bad she's spent most of it in a haze. Half of the trip has been spent talking about her tattoos, while the other half has been spent reminiscing and moaning.
- 2:24:41 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She's eager to ski already.
- 2:24:42 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> ||
- 2:28:12 PM <Nick|GM> Some of that haze seems to return as the snow covered mountain passes under the chair. It's a boring ride, and long. She can see the chair ahead of you swing back and forth. Her other friends must be messing around. Some of the closer trees the lift passes have strings of beads on them, hanging from branches where skiers have thrown them over the years. A man zigzags back and forth through the moguls below. Lucy's friends' chair reaches the top, and the two of them slide off. Now Lucy and Jan's chair reaches the top too. ||
- 2:30:40 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Don't fall like the last time." Lucy says, pleased that the ride was over. Sharing space with Jan had been awkward ever since she got fucked up and admitted a slight crush on Lucy. Her innocence died a little that day.
- 2:30:58 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> ||
- 2:34:12 PM <Nick|GM> "I won't," Jan replies in a playful tone. She hides her resentment well, if she has any. They meet up with the other two, Matt and Erin, at the top of the hill. The winding path down the hill stretches out before them, and they can see the lodge at the bottom, vanishingly small at this distance.
- 2:34:12 PM <Nick|GM> "You ready?" asks Matt.
- 2:34:12 PM <Nick|GM> "Can we race, just for this first run?" asks Jan. ||
- 2:38:00 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Oh yeah. Fuck yeah." Lucy says, already adjusting her googles. Lucy looks down the tracks for a moment before speaking again. "Say, I saw a pretty scare man while we were going up." She starts to say in a serious tone.
- 2:38:25 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Looked like a madman." She continues, with a straight face. "Make sure you're not kidnapped, or something."
- 2:38:38 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She gives a sweet smile to the other three.||

- 2:46:53 PM <Nick|GM> "Whoa, really? Where?" Jan asks, quickly looking around. "I didn't see anyone." She seems to believe Lucy entirely.
- 2:46:53 PM <Nick|GM> "Nah, why would a madman be on a ski slope?" replies Erin.
- 2:46:53 PM <Nick|GM> "I dunno, middle of the woods, far from any real police force? I think we should keep an eye out," Matt says, before subtly winking at Lucy.
- 2:46:53 PM <Nick|GM> ||
- 2:48:25 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Oh yes. Specially with three beautiful girls like us. And Matt I guess." Lucy says as she subtly gets closer to the slope.||
- 2:50:22 PM <Nick|GM> Erin laughs. "Well, if one of you gets caught by the madman, I guess it improves the rest of our chances to win the race."
- 2:50:22 PM <Nick|GM> Jan doesn't have the same light attitude, though, when she replys, "I guess." ||
- 2:51:58 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Okay, well. See you at the bottom!" Lucy cheerily says before taking off.||
- 2:55:55 PM <Nick|GM> "Oh you little..." says Erin, as she follows closely, the rest of the group behind. The hill is full of moguls and split paths. It's one of the hardest runs on the slope, and it's been changed since last year, so a lot is unfamiliar. There isn't one clear way to get to the bottom fastest, and with all the horizontal routes to other runs and trees obscuring parts of the path, Lucy loses sight of her friends. Hopefully that means she's in the lead. A snowboarder takes a jump a little down the hill, trying and failing to land his flip. ||
- 2:58:01 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Bahaha. Idiot. Lucy almost considers checking if he survived, but Erin probably had it. She was remarkably slow. The true menace was Matt, who was as devious a she was diabolic. Or something. He was just a really sneaky fuck at time. Lucy continues to go down the slope at a controlled speed. Wouldn't want to tall on her as like that guy.||

- 3:03:47 PM <Nick|GM> Lucy manages to stay upright, but she has to slow down considerably weaving between a set of tricky moguls. Just ahead, there seems to be a new shortcut or some sort of alternative path that hadn't been there last year, leading downhill at a steeper angle through the trees. No one else is on that path, so she wouldn't have to dodge the slow 13 year olds who thought they could handle a double black diamond. It's risky, but with risk might come reward. ||
- 3:06:06 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She's all about risky behavior. Besides, those fucking pubescent assholes moved at the speed of a three-legged turtle. It was maddening. It's not even a choice for Lucy a she heads down the steeper path. Stupid kid ruining the fun everywhere.||
- 3:07:44 PM <Nick|GM> The new path narrows quickly, and soon it's hard for Lucy to maintain her breakneck pace. She slows down some, still not wanting to fall, and marvels at how direct and free of obstacles this path is.

- 3:16:07 PM <Nick|GM> Lucy straightens her skis and leans farther forward. She seems to fly down the hill. Then, suddenly, something hard is under one of her skis, a concealed rock under the snow, and she's thrown forwards.
- 3:16:07 PM <Nick|GM> Her skis pop off, and she falls nearly 20 feet down the hill before the powder stops her. It's going to eat serious time getting back to the skis and starting to go again, but would this path make up for it?

- 3:19:57 PM <Nick|GM> Lucy notices on her laborius hike back to her skis that the trees surrounding her are not the same trees that she noticed on the lift and at the top of the hill. They're a completely different type, with bare branches instead of needles. She doesn't see any evergreens at all, now, where before they were the only trees in sight. ||
- 3:21:08 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Huh. Okay. That's weird. Lucy gives the surroundings a quick glance just in case. She was not scared, but she -was- a horror movie fan. Better safe than sorry.
- 3:21:50 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She begins to mull over the fact that no one else is coming over the path. Not even Matt. He would be the first one to go down a slope like this.||
- 3:23:50 PM <Nick|GM> There's nothing immediately scary or dangerous that she notices, looking around, but the forest surrounding her has a different feel to the one she was in before. She can't hear people on the other runs now, either. ||
- 3:32:00 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Ah yes, the typical forest that swallows maidens. Not that she was a maiden. Well, nevermind that, there's nothing she could do about it. And she still had a chance to get to the bottom if she hurried up. So she does just that.||
- 3:34:47 PM <Nick|GM> The trail is still here, and the race is still on. The narrow path is steep, but she manages to follow it at a decent pace, and eventually somes out to what seems to be the main hill.
- 3:34:47 PM <Nick|GM> As she looks around, though, there's no people, and the lift isn't running. The lodge is dark and seemingly empty. ||
- 3:36:58 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Oh, nice. She was actually first. Lucy smiles as she heads towards the lodge, but then stops and looks up the mountain once more. Surely she would be able to see other people?||
- 3:39:09 PM <Nick|GM> There are no people anywhere in sight. There aren't even ski or snowboard track besides the ones she's making. ||

- 3:41:36 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> "Ah. Shit." Lucy says as she sees the desolate sight before her. "Shit shit shit." She looks around once more, with more care this time. She just wants to know she can pull out her cellphone without a fucking Yeti jumping on her ass or something.||
- 3:42:00 PM <Nick|GM> Thankfully, the hill seems to be Yeti free. ||

- 3:46:51 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She glances at the dark lodge, curiosity creeping in her mind. Maybe one little look couldn't hurt?||
- 3:51:45 PM <Nick|GM> She enters the lodge (whose doors are unlocked), and looks around the main hall. It's totally abandoned, the tables empty, the lights off. ||
- 3:54:59 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Ooooooh boy. Oh boy. She hesitates briefly in the door. She wants to run so bad. Her heart is beating so hard. But she can't help herself. What the hell was going on?
- 3:55:45 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She opts to not say a thing as she goes inside as quietly as she can. She pulls out her cellphone once more, taking photos, but taking care of not making any sound. She didn't know what lurked around.||
- 3:59:10 PM <Nick|GM> She peeks cautiously around every corner, but there's absolutely nothing creeping or crawling around. It's eerie how her footsteps echo, even in her efforts to be stealthy. There aren't any other sounds to cover it up. ||
- 4:01:00 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Well shit. She starts to take a video out of it, since it's likely no one will believe her.
- 4:01:06 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> ... If she ever gets to meet anyone again.||
- 4:02:56 PM <Nick|GM> Her phone's camera is having an issue making things distinct in the darkness. If she turns on the flashlight, it might make things clearer, but it also will show anyone or anything in the building where she is. ||

- 4:49:53 PM <Nick|GM> "We're what?" Matt asks." And all my stuff is right... fuck, where'd my skis go? I put them right there," he says, pointing to the wall of the lodge. There aren't any footprints or tracks where he's pointing, and the ski tracks Lucy made on her way down are gone, too. ||

- 4:55:20 PM <Nick|GM> The snow is falling very slowly, nowhere near enough to cover up tracks, but nonetheless, the tracks are nonexistant.

- 7:08:02 PM <Nick|GM> She trips several times on the way down, but makes it to the lodge again without freezing to death. ||
- 7:11:37 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Freezing to death would have been easier. She turns around, checking if there were any her tracks left.||
- 7:13:06 PM <Nick|GM> Her tracks coming down are visible, but the ones she must have left heading up are gone. It /had/ taken a long time to get up and down, though. Maybe that disappearance was normal? In any case, looking up at the hill hurt her eyes, the sun reflecting harshly off the snow. ||
- 7:22:56 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Huh. Hm. Did she have a mirror? She's didn't. Was it the light that killed Matt?
- 7:23:27 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She uses her cellphone to reflect some of the nearby light at a wall, just to test that idea out. She needed to understand what was happening.||
- 7:24:15 PM <Nick|GM> The light reflects off her cell phone screen normally, as she might expect. There's nothing special or interesting that she can see. ||
- 7:25:24 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Well, there goes that theory. And it's not like she can give Matt a proper burial. Since the earth went and ate him. She checks the keys now, jingle them a bit.||
- 7:26:56 PM <Nick|GM> Similarly to the light, the keys seem to be normal. She tries to think back to exactly what happened, what they said, what she was thinking, how Matt looked, everything. ||
- 7:29:26 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Was it something inside of him? His laughter? Did that even make sense? Lucy goes inside to avoid some of the glare of the sun.||
- 7:30:32 PM <Nick|GM> Lucy goes back into the lodge, which is as dark as before. What does she want to do now? ||
- 7:32:09 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Cry, mostly. But instead she looks for food. A magazine. Clues? Also clues. Her mind is all over the place.||
- 7:32:43 PM <Nick|GM> ((d6))
- 7:34:15 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> $roll 1d6
- 7:34:15 PM <[ATM]> Teruzi|Lucy [1] = 1
- 7:35:18 PM <Nick|GM> She manages to find the kitchen, but there's no ingredients or food in the stores. She finds a brochure by the front desk, but no magazines. ||
- 7:36:50 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Lucy feels tears escaping her eyes again. She wipes them away, while trying to read the stupid brochure.||
- 7:37:52 PM <Nick|GM> It has prices for ski passes and packages, with pictures of people skiing happily on every page. Not very informative. ||
- 7:38:26 PM <-> tubes|Chunk is now known as tubes
- 7:40:32 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Lucy find a table to headdesk. God damn. How many locked doors where there?||
- 7:41:19 PM <Nick|GM> Most of the staff-only areas, and the door to the roof, she remembers from her earlier explorations. ||
- 7:42:40 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Then what was available to her? Without getting into the jeep, of course.||
- 7:46:39 PM <Nick|GM> She has access to office supplies and skiing equipment, mostly. There's various tables and chairs, and running water in the bathroom (if it still works). There might be vending machines somewhere, but she can't begin to guess if they'll be stocked or not. ||
- 7:47:38 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Well, she felt pretty out of it. She probably needed a snickers to be herself, or something. Matt would have thought that joke was funny. Fucking Matt. Leaving Lucy alone like this.
- 7:48:02 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> She wipes the tears again and goes to check the bathroom. Maybe wash her face.||
- 7:49:20 PM <Nick|GM> The cold water helps, and she's relieved the faucets work.
- 7:49:40 PM <Nick|GM> The toilets are as empty as the rest of the world. ||
- 7:51:13 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Okay. No people, no electricity. But water? Maybe she just needed to turn on the lights? She looks for a switch.||
- 7:51:35 PM --> CupofCoffee ([email protected]) has joined #Other
- 7:53:03 PM <Nick|GM> She switches on the lights in the bathroom. They work as normal. ||
- 7:53:49 PM <Teruzi|Lucy> Fuck. So that's why there weren't any lights? Lucy feels particularly stupid. She heads to the front desk. There should be a landline in there.||
- 7:54:30 PM <Nick|GM> There is a phone, with instructions on it. "Dial 7 for outside calls." ||
