- VRCHAT TO LIV AVATAR IMPORT GUIDE
- Revision 1
- Written 2020/10/20
- Caveats:
- This guide assumes you're using Unity Hub like any sane person will.
- I use Index. You probably have to pose your hands first if you lack finger tracking.
- While Liv supports dynbones, it's a version behind and I can't be arsed to figure out how to override the version packed in the .dll
- UNDO ANY VRCHAT IK HACKS IN BLENDER!! Even if it still looks okay in VRC, Liv's IK will not play nice with them.
- INSTRUCTIONS
- Step 1: Get the special snowflake version of Unity that Liv uses.
- Go here: unityhub://2018.4.11f1/7098af2f11ea
- Step 2: Make a new project with that version, then close Unity.
- Step 3: Download this archive. I don't control this URL, it may break later. Unpack it into the project directory.
- Step 4: Make a copy of the template scene.
- Step 5: Copy all textures, materials, shaders, etc. from your VRC project to the Liv project.
- Step 6: Note the hierarchy of the scene:
- TemplateCopyFilenameHere
- TemplateFull
- full body template
- [...]
- Directional Light
- ThumbnailCamera
- Delete the Y-bot, but not the TemplateFull object. Put your model prefab under it, instead, such as how mine is...
- anonvatar
- TemplateFull
- anons-model-filename
- Directional Light
- ThumbnailCamera
- Step 7: Configure your model's materials as necessary. Copy dynbone settings over if you have any.
- Step 8: Adjust the ThumbnailCamera's position and FOV to take an appropriate picture, then click Capture Thumbnail.
- Step 8a: If the avatar exporer pane in the lower right is blank, just click in it. Repeat 8.
- Step 9: Set author and avatar name appropriately, then click export. Wait.
- Step 10: Click and drag the .avatar file generated over into your Liv settings window. You can now select it in Liv's avatar menu.
