The basketballer does appear to be Asian. Basketballers are associated with tall folk and Asians have traditionally not been the tallest. If I were looking to make a connection then it could be a possible reference to the Chinese giving (some of) their (migrant) children growth hormones (or that kind of thing).



Australia has a lot of Chinese and over the past couple of decades I would remark that *some of them* have gotten *much taller* than you'd naturally expect.



They look to me (body/facial features etc.) that at *some point* they had been given some growth hormones (etc.) as a "helping hand" to thrive/prosper in a foreign country. Not necessarily a lot - _just perhaps a little bit._





*EDIT:* I see Terran wrote the basketballer doesn't necessarily look Asian. When I first glanced at the cartoon I thought it was an Asian basketballer. Not strictly a "traditional Asian" but some "features" etc.
