  1. Someone asked me this on Youtube, and I thought I’d post it here too.
  2.
  3. First, you’ll have to get to the E-Reader room using a code. This is detailed by The Cutting Room Floor. https://tcrf.net/Pok%C3%A9mon_Colosseum#e-Reader_Room Right click your ROM in Dolphin, pick Properties. Select AR Codes, click Add, and enter this code. You have to do so when you are not running the emulator AFAIK. You can now reach the Ereader room by going to Phenac’s Pokecenter basement.

  5.
  6. When you play Colo with a GBA, make sure you do not have the GBA plugged in at first under controllers. That’ll make all your input unresponsive. That is a minor glitch that you can work around by plugging it in mid emulation. Here’s where it gets tricky. You’ll need the 20 cards and their data. This archive has the vast majority of Ereader cards, missing only a few. (All 20 for Colo are included, plus the stage ones, but the promotional cards aren’t AFAIK)

  9.
  10. Next, you’ll need the newest version of VBA-MX, and a JP E-Reader + (Not plain E-Reader, has to be the +) ROM. Go to Options, and select Link. Make sure Local Mode, Link At Boot, and Speed Hack are checked. You may have to change the link timeout depending on your computer specs. I leave mine at 5 milliseconds. Make sure the link type is set to Gamecube.
  11.
  12. With this setup out of the way, go up to the lady in the left counter in the Gamecube’s room. She will guide you on how to install the Colo program on your ereader. Follow her instructions, and when you are prompted to, load the Ereader+ rom. You may need to initialize data on the ereader. Once that’s done, press Start on the GBA, and pick the second option. That’s the same as “Communication” in an USA Ereader. Then pick the first option, that’s the “To Nintendo GameCube”. Let the Gamecube install the program. You are now good to go.
  13. To scan a card, go to File, E-Reader, and pick Load Dot Code. That selection will freeze both emulators, as shown in my videos. From here, follow the instructions on your GC screen and you’re golden. Good luck, and hope you got enough Shell Bells.
  14.
  15. As a side note: I find it absolutely fascinating how you can use a USA version of Colo, with the JP Ereader and the JP cards, without any region locks. Even the software sent to the Ereader is JP.
  16.
  17. Also I just realized I forgot to say this earlier-- make sure you have the GBA BIOS. Once you download it, go to Options, emulator, Select BIOS file, and then pick Use BIOS file.
