  28. <flibbyjibbits> he fell asleep watching transformers
  29. <Fishfosh> hmm
  30. <Fishfosh> Oh well, it is kinda late
  31. <flibbyjibbits> he has a disease that makes him tired
  32. <Moonside> My mom fell asleep watching Avengers
  33. <Skeleton> Eltro can't be away he just spoke two minutes ago
  34. <Chef> what is this place
  35. <flibbyjibbits> secrets and lie
  36. <Fishfosh> Yeah, and I just reminded Eltro that this is tonight like 20 minutes ago
  37. <Moonside> Tonight is the night
  38. <Fishfosh> and he was like "oh shit, that's tonight"
  39. * ChanServ sets mode: +qo flibbyjibbits flibbyjibbits
  40. <Fishfosh> then didn't do anything
  41. <Skeleton> Where we play Pathfinder. Not for civilians
  42. * Chef was kicked by flibbyjibbits (flibbyjibbits)
  43. * Chef ([email protected]) has joined #adventure

  46. <Moonside> Not sure if it'll be useful but well
  47. <Chef> i can't watch? :<
  48. <~flibbyjibbits> press quietly for talking press harder for shouting
  49. <~flibbyjibbits> the pugna toy is going to be the new game objective
  50. <Fishfosh> oh
  51. <Skeleton> Are we gonna use Roll20?
  52. <Fishfosh> In the alternate timeline, the orbs are replaced with action figures of dota heroes
  53. <~flibbyjibbits> probably not
  54. <Skeleton> Okay
  55. * Eltrotraw ([email protected]) has joined #adventure
  56. <Skeleton> El Trole
  57. <Skeleton> Master Eltrole 2013
  58. <~flibbyjibbits> im gonna go get a cup of shredded meat
  59. <Eltrotraw> shredder
  60. <Skeleton> Okay so to recap where we left off last time... uhm
  61. <Skeleton> No logs
  62. <Moonside> http://pastebin.com/mgV4bzLp
  63. <Skeleton> oh coo'
  64. <Moonside> both sessions are under ch. 61
  65. <Skeleton> Aha
  66. <Moonside> since you can't separate them in roll20
  67. <Fishfosh> We talked to the rebellious elves, and they said we would have to destroy the bonesmith's workshop (or the smith itself) in order to earn their trust
  68. <Fishfosh> which means going to another timeline
  69. <Skeleton> Right we're on out war into another reality where we don't exist
  70. <Skeleton> *way
  71. <Fishfosh> yeah
  72. <Fishfosh> So we're going to DIFFERENT LAND
  73. <Eltrotraw> these elves are assholes
  74. <Eltrotraw> are we getting on roll20?
  75. <Skeleton> All the grass will be red and all the water will be GOLDEN PISSY
  76. <Eltrotraw> or am I late there too
  77. <Fishfosh> Seems like not tonight, eltro
  78. <Skeleton> I just asked that, Flib said probably not. Maybe a good thing, I dunno if my internet will like it even if I only stream incoming audio
  79. <Moonside> speaking of weapons I want money for a sunblade
  80. <Moonside> it does double damage against undead. like wow imagine that
  81. <Fishfosh> Like you don't smite undead hard enough already?
  82. <Chef> what's roll20?
  83. <Moonside> I'll smite them so hard they'll never have existed
  84. <Fishfosh> a utility for playing tabletop games online
  85. <Moonside> Anyway, I'm thinking of making some other characters, that I might use or not
  86. <Chef> o
  87. <Moonside> notably an Inquisitor
  88. <Moonside> Also remaking that Tetori
  89. <Chef> i've never played a tabletop game before
  90. <Chef> but i've been really into the idea lately
  91. <Moonside> We'll probably go for DtD once this campaign is over though right
  92. <~flibbyjibbits> alright i got my cup of shredded dead animal
  93. <Fishfosh> Or if something else happens that opens a timeslot, sure, Moon
  94. <Eltrotraw> are we approaching the end of this?
  95. <CommodoreJim> Okay back, had to bring in groceries
  96. <Moonside> Probably not yet
  97. <~flibbyjibbits> iduno
  98. <Fishfosh> Doesn't feel like we are
  99. <Moonside> we still need to get the dragon balls
  100. <~flibbyjibbits> over the summer id like to either start earlier or end earlir since ill be working fulltime 8-5
  101. <Fishfosh> That would be nice
  102. <Chef> i wanna join the next campaign. D:
  103. <~flibbyjibbits> too bad
  104. <~flibbyjibbits> anyways
  105. <Fishfosh> I don't know what my work schedule is going to be like, but since the pool obviously never stays open later than 8 PM I should be able to work something out
  106. <Skeleton> I can pretty much work when I want, usually
  107. <~flibbyjibbits> getting up early enough to get dressed nice and drive and get to a place at a specific time and then stay there all day will be a change even though i guess its technically the normal thing
  108. <Chef> i don't have a job
  109. <Skeleton> So no problems here. Probably.
  110. <Chef> but i'm pretty sure i will once i move
  111. <Chef> but i won't move until after graduation
  112. <Arkay> I actually still have my dtd werebear sheet lying around
  113. <Skeleton> Murdulon
  114. <Fishfosh> I don't foresee that starting anytime soon
  115. <Eltrotraw> so where are we heading out to?
  116. <Fishfosh> But hang on to it I guess, or not, to your liking
  117. <Moonside> STRAIGHT TO HELL
  118. <~flibbyjibbits> basically
  119. <Arkay> through the doomed timeline door or smth right
  120. <Fishfosh> To a doomed timeline in which our characters and everyone they ever knew never existed
  121. <Skeleton> "So uhh... which doors are open to all of us? How about that one?" Freddie points to a door. "That one's open for me..."
  122. <Fishfosh> Pretty sure we picked a door last time
  123. <Moonside> the smith showed us one
  124. <Fishfosh> The Smith helped
  125. <Skeleton> Oh
  126. <Skeleton> Never mind then
  127. <Skeleton> "What if we go in there"
  128. <Skeleton> "And one of our pairs of parents who just hasn't born their kid starts getting busy"
  129. <Skeleton> "Do we get kicked out?"
  130. <~flibbyjibbits> "I forgot what won last cycle. Think it was chaos, since evil usually doesn't stay open."
  131. <Skeleton> Hmm how long does elf conception take
  132. <~flibbyjibbits> "Anyways none of the nations youve ever heard of formed and most likely 700 years of geneology is different or never happened, so no risk of running into family. Simply put, it is as far as possible a timeline that thiss acessible, but it is poised to fail soon."
  133. <~flibbyjibbits> no idea
  134. <Skeleton> If childhood is 100 years and their lifespan is 1000 I imagine it's longer than nine months
  135. <~flibbyjibbits> hmm
  136. <Skeleton> Cans of worms
  137. <~flibbyjibbits> know what
  138. <Moonside> 20 years maybe
  139. <~flibbyjibbits> im gonna go grab my draconomicon
  140. <Moonside> wait no
  141. <~flibbyjibbits> and see what it says about long lived species gestation times
  142. <Moonside> more like 2 or 3
  143. <Fishfosh> "So it will be a completely different world to us... Well, that's fine, as long as we can accomplish what we need."
  144. <Moonside> "It should be interesting."
  145. <~flibbyjibbits> also hey guys wanna fight a prestige class from the draconomicon while i have it with me :}
  146. <Arkay> "Well let's head on in. I'm excited."
  147. <Arkay> sure
  148. <CommodoreJim> nooo
  149. <Skeleton> "That's good to know."
  150. <Moonside> will we die terribly
  151. <Fishfosh> uh
  152. <Fishfosh> Well, that's up to you
  153. <Fishfosh> to put it in the game, at least
  154. <~flibbyjibbits> the weakest dragon prestige class is still stronger than pretty much any other thing
  155. <Fishfosh> I don't care unless the encounter feels forced or something
  156. <CommodoreJim> 'Press this button that says "Summon Terrible Thing" '
  157. <Skeleton> You rang?
  158. <Moonside> anyway, let's og through the door
  159. <Fishfosh> "Let's get going, then. Unless anyone had something left to do before we go."
  160. <Skeleton> "Warty Morty do you need to take a leak?"
  161. <~flibbyjibbits> sorry i went and got the book since im curious now on the precedent for gestation times
  162. <Fishfosh> Take your last breath of not-yet-doomed air
  163. <Skeleton> Freddie's toad does not respond.
  164. <~flibbyjibbits> alright so lets see
  165. <~flibbyjibbits> the shortest lived dragon is the white, at only 2100 years
  166. <Moonside> only
  167. <Arkay> precious babbu?
  168. <~flibbyjibbits> hey silvers can push 4500
  169. <~flibbyjibbits> anyways
  170. <~flibbyjibbits> 4 months after conception they lay the eggs, which then hatch after 14 months
  171. <Skeleton> Really.
  172. <Fishfosh> cool
  173. <~flibbyjibbits> so 16 months total isnt that much more for something thats over a dozen times more than human lifespan
  174. <Fishfosh> 18
  175. <~flibbyjibbits> oh
  176. <~flibbyjibbits> gold dragons take 6 months to lay and then the eggs take
  177. <~flibbyjibbits> 9 years to hatch
  178. <~flibbyjibbits> damn
  179. <Fishfosh> gee
  180. <~flibbyjibbits> they die if at any point they are not kept at over 140 degrees F
  181. <Skeleton> gee
  182. <Skeleton> Just over that? No upper limit?
  183. <~flibbyjibbits> yes
  184. <~flibbyjibbits> alternatively, any open flame
  185. <~flibbyjibbits> reds can be over 150F, preferably partially submerged in a magma flow
  186. * MODOK ([email protected]) has joined #adventure
  187. <~flibbyjibbits> anyways
  188. <~flibbyjibbits> based on that we can guess that elfs only take 10-14 months
  189. <~flibbyjibbits> unless they somehow require more devleopment than godam dragons
  190. <CommodoreJim> elf ears are surprisingly hard to develop
  191. <Fishfosh> Anyway, doors
  192. <Skeleton> Orcs are pregnant for two minuts
  193. <Skeleton> minutes
  194. <Fishfosh> Boldly we step out into a whole new world
  195. <Skeleton> What is this world like Flibbit
  196. <~flibbyjibbits> its a long hallway thats somehow fairly the same
  197. <Skeleton> Is it like Doctor Seuss land
  198. <~flibbyjibbits> at the end of the hallway, the temple is apprently standardized across all universes
  199. <~flibbyjibbits> however, instead of being in a swamp between a mountain crescent, its on top of a hill overlooking a dead forest
  200. <Fishfosh> Yeah, well, I wasn't expecting the temple to be different really
  201. <~flibbyjibbits> the sky is clear, little bit windy, sort of cold. in the distance there are mountains
  202. <Skeleton> The temple is literally the same place just in multiple realities
  203. <~flibbyjibbits> yes it is
  204. <~flibbyjibbits> theres a town, a little ways off, little bit of smoke coming from it
  205. <Skeleton> "Mmm. I like the weather in this universe, I should vacation here"
  206. <Moonside> Smoke as in, the town is on fire?
  207. <~flibbyjibbits> hard to tell
  208. <CommodoreJim> Smoke as in, 420?
  209. <~flibbyjibbits> maybe though
  210. <Skeleton> Smoke as in SALMON
  211. <Skeleton> :d
  212. <Moonside> Well, let's go there
  213. <Eltrotraw> Smoke as in let's smoke em out
  214. <~flibbyjibbits> certainly seems like some of the trees were burnt
  215. <Fishfosh> "Either the entire landscape is different in this world, or the temple was built in another location. Hmm."
  216. <Eltrotraw> want to shoot their legs off?
  217. <CommodoreJim> tombs no
  218. <~flibbyjibbits> the landscape is different because the cycle winner gets to reshape geography
  219. <Fishfosh> Is it more than the usual amount of smoke one would expect from fireplaces and such?
  220. <Skeleton> So it's like
  221. <Skeleton> In Smash Bros. winner chooses a counterpick stage
  222. <~flibbyjibbits> this may be known in legend as the great dwarf picking up all the islands (the previous cycle was an archipelago) and lumping them together
  223. <Fishfosh> hmm
  224. <CommodoreJim> more like the GAY dwarf
  225. <CommodoreJim> #woah
  226. <CommodoreJim> #damn
  227. <CommodoreJim> #fuckyoreligion
  228. <~flibbyjibbits> its a little bit more smoke than one might expect normally, but it does sort of seem to be winter time
  229. <~flibbyjibbits> well i mean it was winter back "home" too
  230. <~flibbyjibbits> but it also seemed to have snowed here lately
  231. <Skeleton> Did we miss Christmas
  232. <~flibbyjibbits> well there arent any seasons in farim but back in nethu and rakor
  233. <Fishfosh> "Should we investigate that town over there?"
  234. <Moonside> "Sure. It might be useful to gather information on this setting."
  235. <~flibbyjibbits> oh also the normal stream of water running from underneath the temple steps is frozen and stuff but the river does head towards the town
  236. <~flibbyjibbits> since it would make sense to found a town on a river and whatnot
  237. <~flibbyjibbits> given the option of having one nearby
  238. <~flibbyjibbits> takes about a day and a half to get there
  239. <~flibbyjibbits> the forest was noticably depleted of wildlife
  240. <~flibbyjibbits> there were a few birds, but not much else
  241. <CommodoreJim> Hmm
  242. <CommodoreJim> Ominous
  243. <Fishfosh> meh, it's winter. and also doomed
  244. <~flibbyjibbits> there are burnt areas, where the trees are cleared and the snow is melted
  245. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  246. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <15> <Total: 15>
  247. <Skeleton> They're all christmas shopping
  248. <~flibbyjibbits> \one of these such clearings seems to have a charred skeleton in it
  249. <CommodoreJim> hey sam
  250. <Skeleton> 'Hello. I'm playing this game.'
  251. <CommodoreJim> nasty sunburn you got there
  252. <Skeleton> 'I look like this because of the SICK BURNS'
  253. <~flibbyjibbits> assuming you camp at night
  254. <~flibbyjibbits> its really quiet
  255. <Chef> (I'm assuming flibby is the DM)
  256. <~flibbyjibbits> i mean the woods arent normally exactly loud, but theres normally SOMe noise
  257. <Skeleton> Better than the curse music
  258. <~flibbyjibbits> just nothing
  259. <CommodoreJim> 2spooky
  260. <Skeleton> "Ah the outdoors."
  261. <Moonside> Elsa doesn't really say nothing during all this time
  262. <Skeleton> "You guys don't mind if I talk loudly and break the silence, do you?"
  263. <CommodoreJim> Also I'm just assuming we brought Mellange and that she doesn't already exist in this timeline
  264. <~flibbyjibbits> yes
  265. <CommodoreJim> smith guy shouldn't have cared, I'm sure stranger shit's walked through his temple
  266. <~flibbyjibbits> he didnt care at all
  267. <Fishfosh> "I would try not to attract attention, in case there is something dangerous in the area."
  268. <Arkay> melange may as well be tucked away in a bag
  269. <Skeleton> 'well that's what YOU would do'
  270. <CommodoreJim> I hide Melange in my helmet
  271. <CommodoreJim> I fire her out my eyeslit
  272. <Skeleton> Freddie has made a fire
  273. <Fishfosh> keep her in a Portable Hole
  274. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  275. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <15> <Total: 15>
  276. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  277. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <19> <Total: 19>
  278. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 8
  279. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d8] <3> <Total: 3>
  280. <Skeleton> uh-oh
  281. <Fishfosh> 2spooky4me
  282. <Moonside> mysterious gm rolls
  283. <Fishfosh> I'm worried about that d8
  284. <~flibbyjibbits> in about 3 hours someone hears footstep on the snow
  285. <Fishfosh> Someone?
  286. <~flibbyjibbits> idc who
  287. <Skeleton> Tombs
  288. <~flibbyjibbits> whoevers awake then
  289. <CommodoreJim> Melange
  290. <Moonside> !roll 1 20
  291. <MODOK> [Moonside - 1d20] <20> <Total: 20>
  292. <Moonside> +9 perception to see who is it
  293. <CommodoreJim> Critical perception
  294. <Skeleton> B-BOW
  295. <CommodoreJim> You become instantly aware of all living things
  296. <CommodoreJim> The knowledge is too much
  297. <CommodoreJim> Your head asplode
  298. <Skeleton> Shit
  299. <Skeleton> Now we have to have Warty Morty fill in
  300. <Fishfosh> Guess it's elsa then
  301. <~flibbyjibbits> someone a little ways away crouched in the snow with a bow
  302. <Moonside> Are they aiming at us?
  303. <Skeleton> With a deathwish
  304. <~flibbyjibbits> not aimed just watching
  305. <Fishfosh> Is it a pretty bow?
  306. <Eltrotraw> i'm going to wavedash forward and gesture rudely
  307. <Eltrotraw> i have no idae
  308. <~flibbyjibbits> just a normal hunting bow
  309. <Fishfosh> No ribbons then
  310. <~flibbyjibbits> got a typical ranger getup
  311. <Moonside> I get up, and ask them "who are you?"
  312. <Arkay> maybe it's graves the bowman
  313. <Skeleton> Telmar the lonely homeless lunatic
  314. <CommodoreJim> it's masoleums the shootguy
  315. <Fishfosh> Drow Ranger the Drow Ranger
  316. <Skeleton> Crypts The Archer
  317. <Eltrotraw> "Whatd'ya want?"
  318. <Fishfosh> Anyway, I get up in response to the activity
  319. <Skeleton> "Muh?"
  320. <~flibbyjibbits> the person stands up, startled, and runs away back in the direction of the town
  321. <Moonside> "...hm. Oh well.
  322. <Moonside> "
  323. <CommodoreJim> GOOD JOB.
  324. <Fishfosh> don't shoot his legs off
  325. <Skeleton> "Maybe that's how you say 'hello' in this world"
  326. <Fishfosh> "They probably did not have kind intentions, if they're so quick to run off like that. We'll need to keep vigilant."
  327. <Arkay> "I wanna see where he's heading."
  328. <Moonside> Elsa sits down again and goes back to being silent
  329. <Skeleton> "Maybe the common language is completely different here and Elsa told him to go bury himself alive"
  330. <Eltrotraw> can we track them?
  331. <Moonside> She does snicker at what Freddie said, though.
  332. <Skeleton> !
  333. <CommodoreJim> !!!
  334. <Fishfosh> !?
  335. <Skeleton> I got a laugh out of Madame Stoneface
  336. <Arkay> "She laughs?"
  337. <Chef> (I know a girl with a stone face)
  338. <Moonside> "Hm? Oh, er... do I always seem so serious?"
  339. <Arkay> "Er, just a touch."
  340. <CommodoreJim> He says as he tenderly touches Elsa's face
  341. <~flibbyjibbits> dont think anyone has tracking
  342. <Fishfosh> nope
  343. <Eltrotraw> well can we follow them?
  344. <Moonside> "...I see. I apologize. I suppose that recent events have gotten me quite distressed."
  345. <Moonside> you mean survival
  346. <Moonside> But yeah, nope. They went to the town, though, right? We can just go there once the day comes
  347. <Fishfosh> They went in that direction, at least
  348. <Fishfosh> Though, tracks in the snow should be pretty easy to follow even without skill...
  349. <~flibbyjibbits> i guess so
  350. * Skeleton plays the Sun's Song
  351. <Fishfosh> Well, whatever, it's not like he did anything to us
  352. <Fishfosh> We can wait until morning
  353. <Arkay> alright then
  354. <Skeleton> He saw us that means we have to kill him
  355. <~flibbyjibbits> i guess how pf does it is you can only untrained track under dc10, otherwise need skill ranks
  356. <~flibbyjibbits> or just wait until morning why not
  357. <~flibbyjibbits> nothing else happens at night
  358. <Chef> (I don't know what "DC" stands for)
  359. <Moonside> difficulty check
  360. <Arkay> dicks cocks
  361. <Chef> thanks
  362. <Chef> Dick Check
  363. <Chef> sorry I'm just hanging back here getting a feel for how the whole RPGing thing works
  364. <Moonside> http://www.d20pfsrd.com/ All of the rules for PF are here, you can read them if you want
  365. <~flibbyjibbits> alright so morning heading towards the town still right
  366. <Moonside> Yeah.
  367. <CommodoreJim> Yes
  368. <Chef> (I already looked. There's a lot of rules)
  369. <Arkay> yes town
  370. <Fishfosh> Basically dc10 means that you would have to roll a 20-sided die, plus any applicable modifiers, and if your total roll is higher than 10 you succeed at whatever the action was
  371. <Skeleton> No, the bottom of the ocean.
  372. <Fishfosh> equal to or higher, I should say
  373. <~flibbyjibbits> the majority of the fires have been put out, some larger wrecks are still smoldering a bit, but some more smoke is from people staying warm
  374. <Moonside> So the town was on fire?
  375. <~flibbyjibbits> lot of people sitting around not really sure what to do since their house was destroyed theres no crops in the winter and theres nothing to hunt in the woods
  376. <~flibbyjibbits> some people are tending to injuries
  377. <~flibbyjibbits> mostly burns
  378. <Skeleton> Aw, that's so sad.
  379. <Eltrotraw> can we perception
  380. <CommodoreJim> let's put them out of their misery then
  381. <~flibbyjibbits> some people got broken up real bad
  382. <Fishfosh> :(
  383. <Moonside> I wonder if we're likely to fight something today
  384. <Skeleton> I wanna ask someone what happened
  385. <Eltrotraw> !roll 1 20 +11 perception bby
  386. <~flibbyjibbits> some people are packing up what they have left and leaving
  387. <MODOK> [Eltrotraw - 1d20(+11)] <21> <10> <Total: 21>
  388. <Moonside> How man injured are there?
  389. <~flibbyjibbits> couple dozen
  390. <Skeleton> I approach a person who doesn't look to be in too bad of shape to talk to
  391. <Skeleton> Which could be anything. Freddie's not a doctor. Missing legs and bleeding out is okay, right?
  392. <~flibbyjibbits> yeah its k
  393. <Moonside> I'll use my lay on hands to heal some of the people
  394. <Fishfosh> Less than 10 ml of blood? I'm sure he'll live
  395. <Eltrotraw> i can cauterize wounds with my gun
  396. <Eltrotraw> or at least stop bleeding
  397. <Skeleton> "Hey there"
  398. <~flibbyjibbits> the one cleric in town is putting some peices back into a guy who seemed to have lost his lower half
  399. <Eltrotraw> it's an actual grit ability
  400. <CommodoreJim> is the cleric nigel
  401. <~flibbyjibbits> sure
  402. <CommodoreJim> from that game
  403. <~flibbyjibbits> yes
  404. <~flibbyjibbits> he is on a considerable amount of drugs
  405. <Arkay> oh boy cleric simulator 2013
  406. <Skeleton> "We just blew in from... out of town... can I ask, do you know how this fire started up?"
  407. <~flibbyjibbits> hes making use of the surgical axe and fire extinguisher
  408. <Fishfosh> 'This man need a double kidney transplant immediately!' 'But Nigel, the only thing wrong is his legs are burnt a bit.'
  409. <Moonside> I guess I'll use like 5 of my uses on the people who look like they're the worst
  410. <Arkay> 'quick, give me the wonder scalpel'
  411. <~flibbyjibbits> the guy you ask looks at you like youre stupid
  412. <Skeleton> Nothing out of the ordinary
  413. <~flibbyjibbits> "howd the fire start? How did all these fires happen, how did this guy get partially eaten and these other seven guys broken in half?"
  414. <~flibbyjibbits> hes acting all super sarcastic and exasperated and stuff
  415. <Skeleton> "I was asking you"
  416. <~flibbyjibbits> "Yeah I get that."
  417. <Moonside> "We are not from this land, and just arrived yesterday. There is no need to act like an idiot."
  418. <Skeleton> He pretty much confirmed what I wanted to know though
  419. <Skeleton> "Sorry..."
  420. <Moonside> (I was talking to the dudue)
  421. <Skeleton> I know
  422. <Moonside> k
  423. <~flibbyjibbits> "Oh, now I'M the idiot, when you're the ones who willingly came here"
  424. <CommodoreJim> :u
  425. <~flibbyjibbits> he finishes tieing a broken plank to some guys leg like a splint and then leans on the guys leg with his elbow
  426. <CommodoreJim> is it dragons
  427. <CommodoreJim> it's dragons
  428. <Skeleton> "We've got a job to do. We're adventuring heroes!"
  429. <Fishfosh> here there be dragons
  430. <Moonside> "Freddie..."
  431. <Eltrotraw> can we do a knowledge roll
  432. <Skeleton> "Was that a secret?"
  433. <Fishfosh> Speaking of, I should totally put point into more knowledge skills
  434. <Fishfosh> points*
  435. <Skeleton> Too bad Pikkup isn't here
  436. <Fishfosh> Meh, I'm sure he's finding something exciting to do
  437. <CommodoreJim> like a monster girl
  438. <CommodoreJim> WOAH
  439. <Skeleton> As exciting as being in DRAGON WORLD?
  440. <Fishfosh> dohoho
  441. <CommodoreJim> he found a slime girl
  442. <Skeleton> wrrrrhhh
  443. <CommodoreJim> he keeps her in a jar
  444. <~flibbyjibbits> i still cant not think of pikkup like that one guy from dragon age who was all about enchanting
  445. <CommodoreJim> ENCHANTMENT?
  446. <CommodoreJim> ENCHANTMENT!!!!!
  447. <Moonside> Anyway, Elsa stop paying attention to the guy, and just goes back to stabilizing people.
  448. <Arkay> "Doc, you seem a bit tense," Leinster says sarcastically
  449. <CommodoreJim> while tenderly stroking the cleric's face
  450. <Arkay> why is leinster stroking everyone's face
  451. <Fishfosh> he asked, while tenderly stroking his computer monitor
  452. <Moonside> maybe he's gay. gay for you
  453. <~flibbyjibbits> maybe this guy in just unhelpful
  454. <~flibbyjibbits> idunno
  455. <Skeleton> "Well, okay then. The mystery stands."
  456. <Moonside> Anyway, we don't really have anything to do besides wait, so what do now
  457. <~flibbyjibbits> could ask someone else or keep asking this guy stuff
  458. <Arkay> he's crazy
  459. <Moonside> I'll ask some injured person that I just healed, I guess
  460. <Arkay> let's find someone not crazy
  461. <CommodoreJim> https://soundcloud.com/astrio/astrio-legalize-crystal-weed
  462. <CommodoreJim> whoops
  463. <~flibbyjibbits> thats probly a good idea asking a huy stabilized
  464. <Moonside> "How are you feeling now? Could you tell us what happened here?"
  465. <~flibbyjibbits> "You can probably guess"
  466. <Skeleton> "Is this some kind of conspiracy"
  467. <Moonside> "A dragon?"
  468. <~flibbyjibbits> he taps her on the nose with his hand where the fingers werent fused together from heat
  469. <Fishfosh> oh my
  470. <Moonside> wat
  471. <CommodoreJim> :u
  472. <Moonside> "...?" Elsa looks a bit confused from that
  473. <~flibbyjibbits> "Means you guessed right. "
  474. <Skeleton> This reality is strange.
  475. <Fishfosh> Maybe what this town needs is the power of music~
  476. <~flibbyjibbits> is that mannerism not common where you all are
  477. <Moonside> No, not really
  478. <Skeleton> Never seen that before nope
  479. <~flibbyjibbits> well its not common here but i mean often enough that its obvious the meaning
  480. <Fishfosh> I should put on a street performance with a rousing song about how the legendary King Rakor killed every dragon OH WAIT
  481. <Moonside> "Oh, er, I see." She turns to the rest of the party. "Well, this should be interesting. And troublesome. I have never seen a dragon before..."
  482. <Skeleton> "Drom, Tombs and I have, once... he was visiting"
  483. <Skeleton> He was real nice, as a matter of fact
  484. <~flibbyjibbits> "
  485. <Skeleton> Er
  486. <Skeleton> Put quotes around that.
  487. <Fishfosh> "There are no dragons left naturally in our home timeline... I hadn't considered this possibility before coming here."
  488. <~flibbyjibbits> "He started showing up a while ago, first just picking off livestock, maybe grabbing a hunter or two, then got braver and started making demands on the town. Food, money, amusement"
  489. <Eltrotraw> ("Didn't he die?")
  490. <CommodoreJim> hot dragon ladies
  491. <CommodoreJim> but we didn't have any of those
  492. <CommodoreJim> so he BURNED US
  493. <Skeleton> ("Yeahp.")
  494. <Fishfosh> er, I didn't make the timeline comments loud enough for anyone but the party to hear
  495. <Moonside> "...do you know its name?"
  496. <Fishfosh> probably shouldn't make ourselves look insane
  497. <Skeleton> Hey is technology any different here
  498. <Skeleton> Or prevalence of magic
  499. <Skeleton> Or whatever
  500. <~flibbyjibbits> little bit but not too different
  501. <Skeleton> *prominence
  502. <~flibbyjibbits> theres some magic but its more uneven
  503. <Fishfosh> forks have a different number of tines
  504. <~flibbyjibbits> since the tower never assembled, arcane magic is basically dead, but clerics and oracles can still do stuff
  505. <Fishfosh> lame
  506. <Skeleton> Does that have any effect on us magic users
  507. <Fishfosh> Will our arcane magic still work?
  508. <~flibbyjibbits> arcane magic is learned own talent
  509. <~flibbyjibbits> so yes
  510. <~flibbyjibbits> its just that everyone who knew how to do it died so nobody was able to teach it or learn it
  511. <Fishfosh> k, cool
  512. <Fishfosh> So we can impress everyone here with mysterious arcane powers!
  513. <~flibbyjibbits> "I never got his name, some other people might have heard it. He liked to be called by big elaborate egotistic titles. You probably understand already what happened when we didn't make the demands"
  514. <Moonside> "I see. Thank you for your help."
  515. <~flibbyjibbits> "Last time he was really mad. The motherlands sent us a champion to oppose him, which made him mad. He went to a far away place and came back with big shiny magic armor, and killed the champions wife"
  516. <Moonside> "What happened to the champion?"
  517. <Moonside> also oops
  518. <Moonside> I think I know where this is going
  519. <Eltrotraw> let me guess
  520. <Eltrotraw> it's
  521. <Eltrotraw> Rakor
  522. <Fishfosh> ooooh
  523. <Fishfosh> So THIS is where the lightningman is from
  524. <Arkay> :OOO
  525. <Skeleton> wut
  526. <~flibbyjibbits> "He goes and goes crazy, and he goes and takes the stormspear from the burial grounds and goes runs away "
  527. <Fishfosh> His hometown got burnt up because our alternate selves got the armor for the dragon, right?
  528. <Moonside> "..." Elsa turns to the party again. "Are you thinking the same as me?"
  529. <Fishfosh> I suppose it could be yet another timeline, but still
  530. <Skeleton> "How should I know what you're thinking?"
  531. <Fishfosh> oh, I was right
  532. <Fishfosh> whee
  533. <Fishfosh> "I think I follow you."
  534. <Moonside> "How peculiar that we would be sent here..."
  535. <~flibbyjibbits> "Did the capital send you?"
  536. <Skeleton> "Stranger things have happened."
  537. <Fishfosh> "We are from a... far away land. You wouldn't know of it."
  538. <Moonside> "...not exactly. We are passing by on our way to someplace else, but..."
  539. <Moonside> I turn to the party again. "What do you think? Should we attempt to kill it?"
  540. <Skeleton> "Well... uhhhhh..."
  541. <Arkay> "Uh, well I like living and all."
  542. <Fishfosh> "Frankly, I don't think we can."
  543. <Skeleton> "But... if we don't, who will?"
  544. <Moonside> "That is not what I meant, but you have a good point."
  545. <Skeleton> "We do have the immortal and totally famous DROMINUS HELLCLEAVE with us..."
  546. <~flibbyjibbits> woulod he be famous in a world his family never existed in
  547. <Skeleton> No of course not.
  548. <Skeleton> Well maybe as a mythical figure but
  549. <Fishfosh> It's also a world where the fountain that made him famous doesn't exist, right?
  550. <Skeleton> The Legend Of Drominus Hellcleave Who Gets It Done, Eventually
  551. <~flibbyjibbits> anyways that guy starts limping off to fimd a wagon leaving town that he can sit in
  552. <Skeleton> "Godspeed, guy"
  553. <Fishfosh> "If anything, it may be possible to help appease the dragon temporarily, but even that sounds dangerous."
  554. <Fishfosh> "As much as I would like to help, we should prioritize our own safety in order to carry out our mission."
  555. <Skeleton> "Maybe we can offer he move to our world! There'd be no other dragon competition, that'd make him happy"
  556. <Skeleton> "Er no even I just realized that's a terrible idea."
  557. <Moonside> "Yes... yes, you are right. We should focus on our current goal." Elsa doesn't seem too pleased with this, but it'll have to do
  558. <~flibbyjibbits> their goal is to wait for or encourage this world to get doomed :<
  559. <Skeleton> Oh yeah!
  560. <Arkay> :c
  561. <~flibbyjibbits> so they can into mr bones lair
  562. <Arkay> right so sucks for these guys anyway
  563. <Skeleton> Then, let's get this dragon to eat more folks
  564. <~flibbyjibbits> since he only really exists in failed timelines
  565. <Skeleton> So he's literally a demon from Hell
  566. <Fishfosh> Yeah, but that means we can't save this timeline anyway
  567. <Fishfosh> If we somehow did we would need to pick another one and try to resist saving that
  568. <Skeleton> Ow, my alignment aches
  569. <~flibbyjibbits> unless the dragon is unrelated to the doomed status
  570. <Moonside> what a shitty grey option
  571. <Fishfosh> yeah, but we don't really know
  572. <~flibbyjibbits> dont, no
  573. <Fishfosh> (and probably can't kill it anyway)
  574. <CommodoreJim> We have to be bad
  575. <Arkay> :O
  576. <~flibbyjibbits> i dont expect the party to actively work towards ruining people
  577. <Fishfosh> I think I would safely consider this within neutral
  578. <Skeleton> How long is this world's destruction gonna take?
  579. <~flibbyjibbits> it is currently stable
  580. <CommodoreJim> Can we just
  581. <Moonside> We should just go back to the temple and wait at the door until it happens
  582. <Arkay> i don't wanna just wait around; I want to find some way to doom this timeline
  583. <CommodoreJim> Set up lawn chairs and wait for destruction
  584. <CommodoreJim> Sip little fruity drinks
  585. <Fishfosh> some men just wanna watch the world burn
  586. <Skeleton> I'm NG, this is gonna be hard
  587. <~flibbyjibbits> if nothing interferes, those able to abandon the village will, and the others will probably die in a few days or a week
  588. <~flibbyjibbits> maybe a few will try to find some secret in the place underneath to ry to fight with
  589. <Fishfosh> ...well, we can probably try to help people evacuate
  590. <~flibbyjibbits> the burial grounds, underworld, etc
  591. <Arkay> 'hey everyone, this timeline is doomed, so why not evacuate and head on over to the party dimension instead?'
  592. <Fishfosh> I mean evacuate this village
  593. <Fishfosh> not the entire timeline
  594. <~flibbyjibbits> everyone out of the universe *nibbler eats himself*
  595. <Arkay> yeah, that's possible
  596. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  597. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <12> <Total: 12>
  598. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  599. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <7> <Total: 7>
  600. <~flibbyjibbits> nvm
  601. <Fishfosh> ...
  602. <Fishfosh> So, what's the main thing stopping some people from leaving?
  603. <~flibbyjibbits> some people still have stuff not ruined, some people are held back by other people, some people just plain dont want to leave
  604. <Fishfosh> uh, hmm, that's probably too personal for us to really help with
  605. <Moonside> I'd say to go back, then
  606. <CommodoreJim> let's kill them all, free them from this mortal coil
  607. <Eltrotraw> can we track down the guy who ruined this timeline
  608. <Eltrotraw> or thing(s)?
  609. <Eltrotraw> oh i got it
  610. <Eltrotraw> let's just kill lavos
  611. <Fishfosh> Go back where?
  612. <Moonside> To the temple, and wait there
  613. <~flibbyjibbits> might ask around any relevant information, maybe someone more important in town might now something better than a random dude bleeding in a gutter
  614. <Fishfosh> That's not really any different, morally, from waiting around here
  615. <Moonside> But it's more convenient
  616. <Skeleton> One of the doors leads to the Comfort Inn Dimension
  617. <Skeleton> Another t the Seven Eleven Dimension
  618. <Skeleton> We'd be set
  619. <Arkay> I'd rather explore this dimension and see if we can find some way to speed up the doomage
  620. <Fishfosh> I'd rather see more of this world before it goes to hell
  621. <Moonside> I'd lose my Paladinhood, probably
  622. <~flibbyjibbits> not nessesarily
  623. <~flibbyjibbits> you might try to help and make things worse by accident
  624. <Fishfosh> You're already aware of this happening. Being farther away doesn't change that you know this world is doomed and don't stop it
  625. <Fishfosh> And hey, you also must know that there are countless doomed timelines, and that you cannot save them
  626. <Skeleton> I thought he meant to try and help the world be destroyed
  627. <Moonside> Ok then, it'd be out of character
  628. <Fishfosh> oh, or that
  629. <Skeleton> Would break the paladinhood
  630. <Fishfosh> Yeah, that probably would
  631. <Moonside> Yeah.
  632. <Fishfosh> okay nvm
  633. <Fishfosh> But still, maybe we should go see this capital
  634. <Skeleton> Freddie and Drom aren't neutral either so this
  635. <Skeleton> wouldn't really be comfortable for them
  636. <CommodoreJim> my goodness hurts
  637. <Fishfosh> Watching a world be doomed isn't exactly comfortable even from a position of not being committed to good
  638. <Skeleton> Nah, and especially not contributing to it even if it furtners your goals
  639. <Skeleton> *furthers
  640. <Arkay> well what do we do then
  641. <~flibbyjibbits> in a situation where you cant solve the problem its still good to ease the pain id say
  642. <~flibbyjibbits> overall
  643. <~flibbyjibbits> iduno about this situation
  644. <Fishfosh> yeah
  645. <Moonside> Ok, sure
  646. <~flibbyjibbits> i can think of several ways to go about this situation
  647. <Skeleton> Summon Hitler and attempt to befriend him
  648. <Skeleton> But he starts a genocide whoops
  649. <Fishfosh> "Perhaps we should find someone in charge around here and ask if there's anything within our power that we can do for these people."
  650. <Moonside> "That sounds like a good idea."
  651. <Fishfosh> Alright, I'll go ask somebody where to find the local mayor or lord or whoever is in charge
  652. <CommodoreJim> how do i address the mayor
  653. <CommodoreJim> am i even allowed to talk to him???
  654. <Skeleton> Good Day, Drominus. Lovely weather we're having, don't you agree?
  655. <CommodoreJim> YOU BET, DAD
  656. <~flibbyjibbits> the apparent mayor or whatever they call him here lives in a big house that was relatively unscathed in the attack
  657. <CommodoreJim> the correct term is "townemaster"
  658. <Fishfosh> Gee, you think dragons would burninate the big fancy houses first
  659. <Fishfosh> and take the treasure
  660. <Fishfosh> rather than burninating all the thatched roof cottaged
  661. <Fishfosh> cottages*
  662. <~flibbyjibbits> maybe he wanted to keep it for himself
  663. <Fishfosh> Let's knock on the door
  664. <~flibbyjibbits> he opens the door
  665. <Skeleton> Okay, I cast oh
  666. <~flibbyjibbits> "Who are you?"
  667. <Skeleton> Never mind
  668. <Fishfosh> I call this the Bard's knock spell. Just knocking on the door, I mean.
  669. <Skeleton> "Greetings... your majesty. We're travelers from an unbelievably far away place that you shouldn't worry about.
  670. <Skeleton> "
  671. <Fishfosh> "We are a group of travelers, and we were wondering if we could talk to you about the town's current situation."
  672. <~flibbyjibbits> "whats there to talk about?"
  673. <Chef> the suspense kills me
  674. <Moonside> "Are you not the least worried about your people?"
  675. <~flibbyjibbits> "I don't know if I can call it worry anymore. Resigned maybe."
  676. <Fishfosh> "Well, we don't know many specific details about what's going on, and we were wondering if there is anything within our power that we can help with."
  677. <~flibbyjibbits> "Most are leaving, some want to stay, or fight. It;ll be back in a few days, most likely. None of us can make any use of whats below.:
  678. <Skeleton> "What's below?"
  679. <~flibbyjibbits> "Old stories and things from them. Some people went down looking for things that could fight a dragon with, but most couldn't make use of it. We have no magic beyond the priest, and he can't understand the language."
  680. <Skeleton> "No magic?? Like, none of this?" Freddie makes little Dancing Lights as sparklers from his fingertips
  681. <~flibbyjibbits> he looks surprised, "How do you do that?"
  682. <Skeleton> "Magic!"
  683. <Chef> the plot thickens!
  684. <~flibbyjibbits> "I don't know of any greater spirite that gives such a blessing, but worth a try. One of our hunters will show you the path, if you want"
  685. <Fishfosh> "Okay."
  686. <Skeleton> "W-wait I thought we agreed we weren't gonna fight the dragon..."
  687. <Fishfosh> "I still don't think we can, but maybe we'll find something that can help ease the villagers' suffering."
  688. <~flibbyjibbits> a few hunters, icnluding that guy who you say in the woods alst nihgt go to lead you a little ways away from the village, to a little hut in the woods where theres a staircase down into some buried ruins
  689. <Arkay> "Or maybe we can get the dragon to doom everything," Leinster mutters to himself.
  690. <Skeleton> Coinstar you are the worst
  691. <~flibbyjibbits> it seems to be the ruins of an older village, that over time some stone roof formed over the top of it
  692. <~flibbyjibbits> "some people said we should just move into here, but on the whole it was determined to be a better idea to just leave, let the old stories here rest"
  693. <Skeleton> "Old stories?"
  694. <CommodoreJim> metal gear?
  695. <Skeleton> dragons?
  696. <~flibbyjibbits> "This old town is before the last cycle, supposedly one of the champions of the cycle lived here, then shortly after it ended some rebels of the new reign hid here"
  697. <~flibbyjibbits> "The spear our defender took was from here, as well as the cloak, ane some other things. Most everything that could be used without magic, but humanity lost that capability long ago"
  698. <Skeleton> "That's a shame. It's the best."
  699. <~flibbyjibbits> "There are some scrolls, but none of us know the language."
  700. <Moonside> "Well, let us see them."
  701. <Skeleton> "Yeah lemme scope some of them scrolls"
  702. <~flibbyjibbits> the scrolls are mostly elven, some in draconic
  703. <~flibbyjibbits> some are just personal letters, diaries, theories
  704. <~flibbyjibbits> the most important was a tablet that was lowered into the old well
  705. <Skeleton> Freddie looks up from an elven one. "No one in this... err... realm speaks elven? What happened to all the elves?"
  706. <~flibbyjibbits> "They live elsewhere. More in the capital. none would be so desperate as to come out here to the frontier."
  707. <~flibbyjibbits> many of the scrolls are theories or intelligence gathered trying to determine a weakness of dragons
  708. <Moonside> "What are they talking about, Freddie?"
  709. <Eltrotraw> can we dive into the well
  710. <~flibbyjibbits> "We founded this city in the hopes there'd be value down here, but there wasn't much. for a while we survived hunting and farming, but those both ran out"
  711. <Eltrotraw> do we need the lens of truth
  712. <Skeleton> "Trying to deduce how to kill dragons on these ones here"
  713. <~flibbyjibbits> ok i read that was seduce
  714. <Fishfosh> roll to seduce the dragon
  715. <Skeleton> !roll 1 20 hey dragon baby

  721. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <14> <Total: 14>
  722. <~flibbyjibbits> much better attempt
  723. <Skeleton> Oh baby oh baby oh baby.
  724. <~flibbyjibbits> for some reason the draconomicon doesnt have the DCs listed for that though
  725. <Moonside> I wonder why.
  726. <~flibbyjibbits> seems like itd be a priority normally
  727. <Skeleton> Yeah I'm sure elf players try to serenade dragons all the time
  728. <Eltrotraw> !roll 1 20 seduce dragon with gunfire
  729. <MODOK> [Eltrotraw - 1d20(seduce)] <2> <2> <Total: 2>
  730. <~flibbyjibbits> its the most logical thing to do
  731. <Eltrotraw> gg
  732. <Moonside> Anyway, anything good in these scrolls?
  733. <~flibbyjibbits> "they hid this tablet in the well" he brings up the bucket with the winch "So I assume it had the most important knowledge on it"
  734. <Fishfosh> it's totally a shopping list
  735. <Skeleton> I'll hide my secrets where you would go to get water. No one would think to do that.
  736. <Skeleton> brb thirsty
  737. <~flibbyjibbits> they were hiding it from an angry dargon
  738. <Skeleton> Ah, not a thirsty one. Gotcha
  739. <~flibbyjibbits> not worth the effort when theres a river not too far away
  740. <~flibbyjibbits> since they wouldnt have to worry about any riverborne diseases or parasites
  741. <~flibbyjibbits> alternative explanation
  742. <~flibbyjibbits> the hands-pringles can dillemma
  743. <Skeleton> Say no more
  744. <Fishfosh> So, what's on the tablet
  745. <Skeleton> What's the language on the tablet
  746. <~flibbyjibbits> does that even make sense what i said damn
  747. <Moonside> Ah, the problem that has plagued humanity since the dawn of time
  748. <Skeleton> Yes.
  749. <~flibbyjibbits> maybe im just tired
  750. <Skeleton> I have large hands. It is hard living in this world of tall coffee mugs and canned potato chips

  755. <Fishfosh> I can read both
  756. <Skeleton> wonderful

  764. <Skeleton> Thank you MODOK
  765. <~flibbyjibbits> and maybe shes better at picking up the implications in one language than the other
  766. <Skeleton> Reading both would be good in that case too
  767. <Skeleton> Two riddles with the same answer would be easier to solve than one
  768. <~flibbyjibbits> the basic jist of what it says is to partially bury it in snow or ice and then cast read magic to get the real secret
  769. <~flibbyjibbits> since theres hard packed snow on the ground thats easy to do
  770. <Skeleton> kay-O
  771. <~flibbyjibbits> what it says there is that theres a secret reason some creatures are so powerful
  772. <Fishfosh> okay
  773. <Skeleton> It's The Secret
  774. <~flibbyjibbits> they arent that way naturally, one hatched and bred in captivity didnt develop beyond a relatively less dangerous drake
  775. <Skeleton> Right Chuck
  776. <CommodoreJim> oh god.
  777. <~flibbyjibbits> it turns out that they all have a sort of pact with some unknown force
  778. <~flibbyjibbits> they get the strength but then gain a weakness that can strip them of it
  779. <Skeleton> IT's like electricity. I don't know how it works, you don't know how it works, but it can cook a man's dinner and it can cook the man
  780. <Moonside> Kryptonite!
  781. <~flibbyjibbits> every dragon has a particular series of sounds, like a certain song that makes it vulnerable and weak
  782. <Eltrotraw> so basically every dragon is weak to certain music
  783. <Fishfosh> oh boy, music
  784. <Moonside> Oh, we just need to equip that badge from Paper Mario TTYD then
  785. <Fishfosh> yes
  786. <Skeleton> Starts with CR and ends with ICKET
  787. <~flibbyjibbits> i came up with this idea one night i was dreaming i was one and then when i heard my alarm clock i was like "huh from the perspective of the imaginary people from that dream, hearing that sound killed me"
  788. <Arkay> crjdnfjidsfjbfghsficket
  789. <Chef> Pen-and-Paper Mario
  790. <Skeleton> Whoa flib
  791. <Skeleton> Whoaaaaa.
  792. <Skeleton> My dreams never make any fucking sense, so they wouldn't be bothered by that
  793. <Fishfosh> "So, according to this tablet, every dragon is weak to a particular series of sounds. Interesting."
  794. <Moonside> "How peculiar."
  795. <Skeleton> "Hey, SOUNDS good to me! Heh!"
  796. <Chef> better find a white mouse with red glasses
  797. <Arkay> "So I guess we just gotta find the right sounds, right?"
  798. <Eltrotraw> "Mebbe there's one weak to gunfire"
  799. <Skeleton> "Get it Vell? Because you sing?"
  800. <~flibbyjibbits> "Thats excellent news" says the king of town, "I wonder what the music is"
  801. <Skeleton> booty booty booty booty rockin errywhere
  802. <Moonside> crystal fucking weed
  803. <Eltrotraw> nail scratching on boards
  804. <Fishfosh> "Well, it does sound like something right up my alley."
  805. <~flibbyjibbits> brb
  806. <Arkay> so is the sound weakness relevant only to dragons in this timeline
  807. <Chef> King of Town?
  808. <Chef> doo hoo hoo hoo
  809. <Moonside> I don't think it matters if the weakness is only in this timeline or not
  810. <Moonside> Since there aren't any dragons in ours
  811. <Fishfosh> The ones that do come to ours are from other timelines, including possibly this one
  812. <Moonside> Hmm, I guess

  815. <~flibbyjibbits> "well if we are to have a chance we should try to find out what song it might be. I wonder if the lyrics amtter, or is it just the notes?"
  816. <Skeleton> "Maybe just a genre it really hates. I gotta be honest, I hate the triangle."
  817. <Eltrotraw> "Are we really gonna carry a musical band just to take out some dragons?"
  818. <Arkay> "I play a wicked air guitar."
  819. <Skeleton> "I can whistle"
  820. <Fishfosh> "I think it's just the notes, though I'm not 100% certain."
  821. <Skeleton> I presume that's what we'll find buried in the snow?
  822. <Moonside> "Are there any other tablets?"
  823. <Skeleton> 'Yes check out my new iPad'
  824. <~flibbyjibbits> "not that I'm certain of, but maybe"
  825. <Moonside> Well, I dunno now.
  826. <Skeleton> Detect Tablets
  827. <Skeleton> Oh lawdy where are da tablets
  828. <Fishfosh> Does the tablet have anything on it that would help us look for the right song?
  829. <Fishfosh> We can't exactly just find the dragon and start guessing note combinations
  830. <~flibbyjibbits> this main one just seems to have the general knowledge on it

  848. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d4] <2> <Total: 2>
  849. <~flibbyjibbits> you find two scrolls that seem to be musical
  850. <Arkay> did they just fall from the sky
  851. <Skeleton> "Well goodness what language could this be..."
  852. <Skeleton> "Where's Lotte when you need her most?"
  853. <Moonside> "It's music. Here, Vell."
  854. <~flibbyjibbits> i assumed rummaging about in the old place
  855. <Arkay> oh okay
  856. <Fishfosh> I take the musical scrolls. "Thanks"
  857. <Fishfosh> brb
  858. <Fishfosh> k
  859. <Arkay> so do the scrolls say anything that we can decipher or do we just know that they seem musical?
  860. <Fishfosh> So, what kinda music are we talkin'?
  861. <Arkay> death metal
  862. <~flibbyjibbits> hm u
  863. <~flibbyjibbits> h
  864. <Skeleton> I assume the bard can read sheet music
  865. <~flibbyjibbits> hold on a second
  866. <Skeleton> Sheet! Music!
  867. <CommodoreJim> aw sheety
  868. <Fishfosh> It's not like there is a skill for reading music, but I would assume it'd fall under any musical perform (which is not problem)
  869. <Skeleton> I don't think it's anything you'd have to roll for, it's not like every time we go to a bar we have to roll to read the menus
  870. <Moonside> This reminds me of that game where you had to roll for everything
  871. <Moonside> Roll to climb the stairs
  872. <Skeleton> WHOOPS WHAT DOES 'BEER' MEAN
  873. <Skeleton> !roll 1 20 piss
  874. <MODOK> [Skeleton - 1d20(piss)] <1> <1> <Total: 1>
  875. <Skeleton> DAMMIT
  876. <Moonside> haha
  877. <Skeleton> Somebody get me a towel!
  878. <~flibbyjibbits> theres a slow, sad song about planetary domination, and a fast paced but long song about a kid growing up to be a knight and stuff and getting all kinds of honors and ideals and then dieing in his first battle
  879. <Skeleton> Oh god it's everywhere
  880. <Fishfosh> gee
  881. <Arkay> skeleton ew
  882. <Skeleton> Blame MODOK!
  883. <Fishfosh> Any notes in the margins about dragons?
  884. <~flibbyjibbits> then on the back of each scroll theres a second song. one is a funeral dirge for those cursed and put down, and an opera about the best archer in the world
  885. <Moonside> where do we learn dragonrend
  886. <~flibbyjibbits> the main tablet seems to imply that only the refrain or bridge or breakdown is needed
  887. <Fishfosh> alright, cool
  888. <Fishfosh> But we've got 4 and presumably at most 1 of them can be right
  889. <Moonside> Trying them all would probably not be a smart option since 4 rounds is a lot
  890. <~flibbyjibbits> the first attempt he might be amused but then if you tried a different song after one line he might realize what youre trying to do
  891. <Moonside> Do any of the songs have any references to dragons in the lyrics?
  892. <Fishfosh> If we set it up as being entertainment and finish each song one at a time, then it might work
  893. <~flibbyjibbits> the song about the knight mentioned that the kid imagined fighting them
  894. <Moonside> Hmm
  895. <Moonside> I dunno if that's enough, but that sounds like a good plan
  896. <Skeleton> So we are going to fight the dragon then
  897. <Skeleton> And un-doom the timeline we need to have doomed so we can fight Mr. Bones?
  898. <~flibbyjibbits> "If you want to try it, we can lead you to where he rests between raids on villages."
  899. <Fishfosh> We don't know if the dragon is related to the dooming of the timeline
  900. <Skeleton> He's certainly not its hero
  901. <~flibbyjibbits> its really late but i want to get to the good stopping point
  902. <~flibbyjibbits> so lets try to move quickly
  903. <~flibbyjibbits> i just gotta get my drink
  904. <Fishfosh> "I suppose it's worth trying... It actually feels like there is hope now."
  905. <~flibbyjibbits> about two days to the north theres a mountain with a cave about halfway up
  906. <~flibbyjibbits> the governer heads in to announce that they brought entertainers and the remainder of whats left of value from the town
  907. <Moonside> http://thebest404pageever.com/swf/gnomeparty.swf
  908. <~flibbyjibbits> as youve likely figured out by now it seems to be the same dragon as you met that one time, but apparently larger, and also redscaled instead of blue/silver like before, guess maybe he knows illusion magic or something
  909. <Fishfosh> He's secretly HALF-OCTOPUS
  910. <~flibbyjibbits> hes sitting there, staring at you all, tail flicking about
  911. <~flibbyjibbits> guess nows as good a time as ever to try
  912. <Fishfosh> I guess so!
  913. <Fishfosh> Let's start with the song about planetary domination
  914. <Fishfosh> !roll 1 20 +15 perform
  915. <MODOK> [Fishfosh - 1d20(+15)] <18> <3> <Total: 18>
  916. <Fishfosh> shit
  917. <~flibbyjibbits> he seems to think its about him
  918. <~flibbyjibbits> which is good ego feeding
  919. <Moonside> what an asshole
  920. <Moonside> let's end with the knight one then
  921. <Skeleton> Nimhais?
  922. <~flibbyjibbits> yes
  923. <Skeleton> He didn't seem evil :<
  924. <~flibbyjibbits> you wouldnt have helped him if he did
  925. <Fishfosh> Well, when that's finished I'll move on to the song about the world's greatest archer.
  926. <Fishfosh> !roll 1 20 +15
  927. <MODOK> [Fishfosh - 1d20(+15)] <28> <13> <Total: 28>
  928. <Moonside> Oh, while Vell is performing, I use Detect Evil
  929. <Eltrotraw> didn't he die
  930. <Skeleton> Wait maybe he knows this timeline is doomed and MUST commit atrocities and so does them here to spare the other realities
  931. <~flibbyjibbits> he quite disliked the subject matter and seems to be getting suspicious but did like the performance
  932. <Fishfosh> We're in a different timeline, eltro
  933. <Eltrotraw> oh, right
  934. <~flibbyjibbits> !roll 1 20
  935. <MODOK> [flibbyjibbits - 1d20] <9> <Total: 9>
  936. <~flibbyjibbits> nvm
  937. <~flibbyjibbits> anyways which next
  938. <Fishfosh> hmm
  939. <Moonside> Detect Evil, flib?
  940. <Fishfosh> I feel like singing a funeral dirge as entertainment would be weird
  941. <~flibbyjibbits> he is yes
  942. <Moonside> Ok, cool.
  943. <Fishfosh> Maybe he'll think the song about the knight who dies is amusing at least
  944. <Fishfosh> So, going with that next
  945. <Fishfosh> !roll 1 20 +15
  946. <MODOK> [Fishfosh - 1d20(+15)] <23> <8> <Total: 23>
  947. <~flibbyjibbits> near the end of the song there was a progression that was similar to the dirge, but in a different key, he looked sort of like he was gritting his teeth as that part came up, but nothing happened
  948. <Moonside> welp
  949. <~flibbyjibbits> like he was tensing or flinching in anticipation
  950. <Fishfosh> of course it would be the last thing we try
  951. <~flibbyjibbits> not because it was the last just because it was that one
  952. <Fishfosh> yeah, I know
  953. <~flibbyjibbits> at this point he stands up and bares teeth
  954. <Skeleton> We gon die
  955. <Fishfosh> ohshit
  956. <Skeleton> Oh fuck
  957. <Skeleton> "ehp"
  958. <Fishfosh> Quick, start singing that funeral dirge

  985. <Skeleton> Freddie is silently crying in shock and horror
  986. <~flibbyjibbits> he manages to get back up on 4 legs, shakily, and stares at the party, blood dripping from eyes and running like a stream from his mouth and nose
  987. <CommodoreJim> you
  988. <~flibbyjibbits> breathily heavily and all twitchy like
  989. <CommodoreJim> you're-a gonna die in three days
  990. <Eltrotraw> "So does music still work on 'em when they can't hear?"
  991. <~flibbyjibbits> ok gotta go
  992. <Eltrotraw> o
  993. <Arkay> omg
  994. <Arkay> g'night flib
  995. <Fishfosh> So we're stopping here?
  996. <Moonside> Well, I can set up a really strong first attack when the battle starts
  997. <Moonside> I'll just need Freddie to use True Strike to make sure I actually hit
  998. <Skeleton> True Strike?
  999. <Moonside> I think it's a first-level spell for Wizards
  1000. <Moonside> http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/t/true-strike
  1001. <Moonside> oh wait it's personal
  1002. <Moonside> nevermind
  1003. <Skeleton> I don't have it anyway
1004. <Fishfosh> It could be made into a potion, but obviously we don't have that kind of time
1005. <Skeleton> Probably because lol me using not magic
1006. <Moonside> If everything goes as planned, my first attack would be (1d8+28+2d6)x2
1007. * ~flibbyjibbits ([email protected]) Quit (Ping timeout)
  1008. <Moonside> which is a lot
  1009. <Fishfosh> it is
1010. <Chef> i hope he logged all that
1011. <Eltrotraw> if all goes as planned my first attack still does damage
1012. <Moonside> Anyway, those were some really lucky rolls today
1013. <Fishfosh> I can give someone haste, too
  1014. <Arkay> I guess I can drop a fireball :u
1015. <Eltrotraw> suddenly the dragon gets +20 dex
1016. <Skeleton> If all goes as planned... LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHTNING BOLT
1017. <Moonside> the 20 perception, 1 for piss holding, 20 for the last perform
  1018. <Fishfosh> But ark, it's a firebreathing dragon
  1019. <Arkay> oh
  1020. <Arkay> well
1021. <Moonside> Also Freddie could probably start some buffing/debuffing
1022. <Arkay> I guess I can use the travel domain for once
  1023. <Arkay> and run away
  1024. <Skeleton> Or that
1025. <Arkay> but really I haven't used that domain at all
  1026. <Skeleton> I don't have any debuffs that'd do anything
  1027. <Skeleton> Buffs always yeah
1028. <Fishfosh> I'm very willing to bet that even a weakened dragon can beat the fort saves for my debuffs, like everything else we have fought so far
1029. <Moonside> lol paladin vs. evil dragon
1030. <Fishfosh> So I'll stick to buffing this fight
1031. <Moonside> any spells that don't give saves or need touch attacks?
  1032. <Moonside> or both
  1033. <Fishfosh> no
  1034. <Moonside> k
1035. <Chef> i'm curious to see what happens next
1036. <Chef> man watching people role-play is pretty fun in its own right. :P
1037. <Fishfosh> Well, I'm off to bed too
  1038. <Arkay> night
  1039. <Fishfosh> goodnight folks
