Sunlight

Sunlight shown through the window of his bedroom.

There, streams of light played across the loose curls belonging to the five year old sleeping beside him in bed.

He studied her long eyelashes and the features of her face. She looked just like Kellen when she slept.

They had the same lip pucker and nose twitch.

She would be awake soon. For now he enjoyed the last quiet moments he had with her before he needed to wake her for their flight out to the funerals.

‘Oh my sweet girl,  you have no idea how much is about to change.’
