  1. Q. Why VC and why's it slower?
  2.
  3. A. I'm playing this category on VC because I don't have access to an N64 and therefore version 1.0. VC plays on version 1.2 and that comes with some advantages and disadvantages. VC has less lag than N64, but the biggest difference between the two are glitches. N64 has access to version 1.0 which has a glitch called Early Eyeball Frog (or Hold R) wherein they can skip most of the adult trade quest and get Biggoron Sword very early. This shortens boss fights by A LOT and generally makes the game faster. In the VC route we don't get Biggoron Sword until near the end of the run.

  5. Q. What's the point then if it's slower?
  6.
  7. A. VC can do stuff that N64 can't, most notably adult can use stick on B. This leads to the ability to skip the door of time and then put a bottle on B, which opens up bottle adventure much earlier than N64 would be capable of. So yes, it's slower, but I'm doing this run because it's fun, interesting, and almost no one else does it.

  10. Q. What is "100%"?
  11.
  12. A. 100% in Ocarina of Time is defined as gathering all the things which you can check by looking at the pause menu or HUD outside a dungeon. This includes the Gold Skulltulas, Heart Pieces, Items, Quest Items, Equipment, etc. For things that have upgrades, such as strength items, diving meter items, bullet/bomb bags, etc., we're stipulated to obtain the highest upgrade by the end of the game, but ONLY the highest one, you don't need any of the middle ones. Another rule is that you must obtain these items from their "original source" and obtain them in such a way that you cannot obtain them again. That means no duping skulltulas or heart pieces, no RBAing upgrades, etc.

  15. Q. Where's your sword? (What's Bottle Adventure)
  16.
  17. A. For a large portion of this run I won't have a sword, but instead Farore's Wind (FW) on my B button. What this does is allows me to use FW anywhere, which leads to some interesting routing. The way this is done is through a glitch called Bottle Adventure (BA). The way that works is if you go back in time (from adult to child) with a bottle on B we're able to manipulate what gets returned to B when we return to adult. Because the game is confused, it will check child's c-right button for a reference to what value it should put on B. To get FW on B, for example, I will put a fish on c-right as child with 13 deku nuts. Fish serves as a pointer to the area in memory where amount of nuts are stored, and 13 is the value of FW, so the game puts that item on B. 1 more use of BA in this run is to put Poacher's Saw on B, which is done by having Big Poe on c-right as child, which points to the seed count (slingshot ammo), which is 50 at that point. This can also be accomplished with the Light Arrow Cutscene (LACS) since in the flashback, you actually go back in time. For more, see: http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/ba/bottle-adventure

  20. Q. What's RBA?
  21.
  22. A. RBA stands for Reverse Bottle Adventure, and it's more or less what it sounds like. Rather than manipulate what goes on B using inventory amounts, we use B to manipulate inventory amounts. We get a bottle on B, which then checks the item on c-right for a pointer as to what to change. It then places the value of the item on B into that pointer. For example, fish points to nuts, so if I put bugs on my B button, with a fish on c-right, I will obtain 29 deku nuts, as bugs have value 29. In this run, this is used quite a bit. I'll RBA myself nuts, chus, a glitched seed bag, the fire temple boss key, and extra bottles. You can read more about this here: http://zeldaspeedruns.com/oot/ba/reverse-bottle-adventure

  25. Q. Who made the route, is it the fastest?
  26.
  27. A. I'm using a route made by SVA, with some minor tweaks. It's fairly old (Feb. 2016), so it's probably not the fastest, but I'm not the best at routing, so I'm just going to run this for now. You can find the route here: http://pastebin.com/cMBngFYH

  30. Q. What do the colors of the splits mean?
  31.
  32. A. Rainbow splits are the "gold" splits, that is to say they are a pb on that split itself. Purple means I'm ahead of pb and gaining time. Green means I'm ahead of pb and losing time. Yellow means I'm behind pb, but gaining time. Red is the worst since it means I'm behind pb and losing time.
