The letter on the table read “WARNING: explorers failing to meet exploratory requirements. Society in danger due to lack of information and/or fame and/or money.” Pinkerton dreaded opening it.

Nonetheless, he did. The boilerplate-seeming letter - odd, since he didn’t know who would have such a bureaucracy to need the letters to be boilerplate - read: “Research Status: LACK OF VISITS TO: CARIBBEAN, THE LOST ISLAND. WITHOUT INFO ON DINOSAURS AND TROPICAL PLACES, THE SOCIETY MAY COLLAPSE TO THE ANTI EXPLORERS. HIGH RISK.
Fame Status: Good. Popular revolt against exploratory expenses unlikely.
Wealth Status: Good. Inability to afford expeditions unlikely.

This letter contains one or more pressing issues. Please fix them at once. Have a nice day.”

“ANNNNNNNNNNNA!” screamed Pinkerton. The black-haired Russian came at once: “Yes?”
“Look at this. I know you’re responsible for a significant amount of our research; why is this suddenly an issue?”
“I told you a month ago, Hatice led a boycott among the nature experts and engineers. We’ve been fine visiting other places - remember Agatha’s unique trip, we all realized we could do that too - and getting plenty of renown-”
Pinkterton put his head down, defeated. “Just… go. And get anyone who isn’t boycotting, bring them here. We’ve got work to do.”
