  1. He woke up with a powerful gasp, his chest urning for the oxygen he noticed was so plentiful in the room. Sweat leaked out of his pores as he looked around the white room with his hazy vision. He squeezed his toes and made a fist to try to regain some strength. He could hardly remember his own name. In fact, he didn't remember his own name at all. Fear struck him like gold at this sudden realization and took him into a panic as he laid down due to fatigue. Frantic questions shot through his mind: *Where am I? Why can't I see? What's my name again?* He winced in hard search of thought, surfing his near-empty mind to find what little memories he had left. He blinked a few times and started to see more clearly. He looked around the room once more, finally being able to make out some of the objects around him. Strange machines with flashing screens lined the walls, all connected to the white hospital bed he was laying in. While analyzing his surroundings he began to realize he could only hear a fraction of the loud sirens blasting through the room. He was used to being deprived of his senses by now, and calmed down to try to reclaim some of the energy he lost. He heard the door kick open as several people dressed in all white stormed in, taking him by surprise. He thought he recognized one of them, but everything happened too fast. A woman with a red badge loomed over him as the others tampered with their silly toys.

  3. "Hello, James. This is a very exciting day."
  4.
  5. "Am I James?" the man said.
  6.
  7. "Why-yes. You'll slowly regain your memory over these next few months. You have been through a lot, you know."
  8.
  9. "Can we turn this song off?" He said, referring to the sirens. They cut off soon after he mentioned them.
  10.
  11. "I need you to understand something before we proceed," she said professionally. "You are the cloned body of 29-year-old James McWath. This may be a lot to take in. There are people that need to speak to you. What do you remember?"
  12.
  13. "Well." the man said, calmly. "That makes some sense. I didn't even know my name until you told me just now. I feel awful right now, can we continue this a little later? I want to go home. Where do I live again?"
  14.
  15. "Shit." She turns to one of the men at her side, "Tell the press to leave us, they won't hear from him for a few weeks."
  16.
  17. "Press? What?"
  18.
  19. "James McWath was a wanted criminal. He was confirmed dead 28 days ago. We cloned him because someone must be penalized. I'm sorry about this." The woman said.
  20.
  21. James' heart sank, and he instantly knew he had to get the fuck out of there.
