Someone else said this wasn't n_n because no special characters but steamiduk shows he didn't use those characters until 2021 so timeline checks out, plus he had a 1o2 bomb beanies on that date[1].

"inflating his own" - maybe I'm blind but I don't see where he's pricing his hat beyond the assumption that the trade offer is saying he thinks the two hats are equal value.

Lot of high tier trader hate in this thread, but personally I think of n_n as a collector more than a trader. Most of the stuff he buys isn't for sale, or it's used to buy something else he wants more later down the line.
Thinking about this trade from a collector's angle, it makes more sense and less sharky imo. Early/Mid-2020 is when these old halloweens (and other non-dropping items) really started to go buck wild. As a collector you're probably used to paying moderate prices on these effects (I know I was used to paying sub 25 keys for collector handshakes, the people listing for $100 at the time were insane), and a 1o2 forever is probably reasonable (it was frozen icefall which was a very hyped effect at the time, iirc), afterall, the people paying these ludicrous prices (the $1600 mentioned) are probably just fad chasers and the market will go down later. You aren't thinking about resale value, or potential value in a year, you just want to pay what they've been going for for the past 3+ years. In hindsight this is obviously wrong, and if you look at his profile you can see he probably came to terms with that (that being the fact these effects are only going up) shortly after since his trade for the SBTWC le party phantom was ~1500 keys[2][3] in march of 2021.

TL;DR I don't think he was meaning to shark, he thought the high sale was just a 1 off event by some overzealous person and just wanted something for his collection without regards to potential value in a year (or w/e timeframe you want to consider).
