  1. in my attempt to return to console vanilla 120 star attempts after doing iron mario on emu, ive been realizing how silly it is to still be playing on the original console after all of these years. with all of the decompilation work and pc ports, i'm a bit surprised there hasnt been a big push, or at least some size of a push, towards playing the game on pc. my persepctive is that even though the game isnt dead or dying in a large way, it is on a downwards trend, and i feel like we are limited by playing on console. the prices for getting into it seem to be getting only higher, and it feels like it simply isnt as accessible. now that we are in 2025, so many years have passed running this game that i feel a large change is only reasonable to keep pushing the game forward and not fall into irrelevancy.

  3. up to around 2021, i do fully get playing on console, as emu is simply an emulation of the game prone to inconsistencies and various problems, and just generally having the primary way to run the game be played on an emu would be a bit weird. also with the wii shop going down you can't even begin to consider it as the main platform because you can no longer play it officially, not to mention how horrendous it looks on vc. however, we now have a 100% accurate decompliation of the game that is fully accurate, doesn't seem to be inconsistent across multiple devices, has no issue with legality (as far as im aware) and is extremely accessible.

  5. i feel like if there was a port of the game optimized for the use of speedrunning (raphnet adapter support, options menu for other ease of access options, easy switch to practice tools) that would be a perfect way to play the game for me. the current ports don't support raphnet super easily which makes them a little annoying to switch to, and some of the ports that do have more options feel a bit weird to play, and the animations seem to be more geared towards 60 fps play.

  7. i just wanted to start a conversation about this and gauge interest, what are people's thoughts on moving away from console and into pc play (if proper support is created for it)? are there people who would be interested in helping to make such a port be created?
