  1. I heard a buzzing sound rhythmically clattering from behind me. Opening my eyes groggily, I awoke to see the window mostly dark with a hint of light in the horizon. Looking about I was reminded of my current residence as I saw my manticore girlfriend curled next to me and as completely naked as I was.
  2.
  3. With a yawn that nearly broke my jaw in half, I sat up and turned to look ahead of Kora’s bed. Within seconds I realized that the continuous reverberating was from a cell phone on her desk.
  4.
  5. Curiosity got the better of me as I sluggishly got up and checked the screen: a long list of texts in all caps. With a squint I found the sender was Hippa.
  6.
  7. “What in the world could she....” I paused to yawn again. “...want at this hour?” Picking up the device I tried to scroll through the list of text messages but was password-locked from seeing the full thing.
  8.
  9. “ ‘They are back early’ ? ‘Hide Kazuma now’ ?“ I softly read aloud the messages at the top. It took a few seconds to register in my mind that something was VERY wrong, but when it did, I was too late. The sound of heavy footsteps thundered towards the hallway as my heart froze. Panicked, I dove under the covers without any time to think things through.
  10.
  11. Every step that neared the doorway was a blacksmith hammering on an anvil as my naked skin broke into a cold sweat next to Kora.
  12.
  13. I silently gulped at the slow clinching of the door knob, my eyes shut so tightly they teared up in my terror.
  14.
  15. The slow opening at the entrance brought the heavy steps and a deep, slow breathing of something...huge. It was like hearing the breathing of a bear only a few feet away. I could hear the nostrils sniffle, then huff, and then a deep voice grunted in a muffled voice only to exhale a few seconds after holding its breath. Then there came the sound of a package being placed upon the desk, followed by the retreating of the weighty footsteps and the final shutting of the door.
  16.
  17. I let out an exhale of relief, realizing I’d been holding my breath in those dire two minutes. Was there a beast loose in the house?! Was it a burglar?! Did it have something to do with Hippa’s texts?!
  18.
  19. “Mmmgghh...” Kora shifted in her slumber, her nose sniffling as she began purring happily in her sleep.
  20.
  21. Nervously, I nudged Kora with a soft whisper.
  22.
  23. “Kora-!” I breathed in my fright.
  24.
  25. “Hmmm...?” She responded, though I couldn’t tell if she was dreaming or was actually aware of my voice.
  26.
  27. “Kora...Wake up...! There’s something in the house...!” I tried to keep my voice as low as I could lest the behemoth in the house hear me.
  28.
  29. “Ooooookaaaayyyy.....” She murred back. “Blueberry pancakes would be lovely....”
  30.
  31. “Kora...!” I tried to shake her shoulder a little harder. “Wake up...!”
  32.
  33. With a snork and slight slurping of her mouth, my girlfriend’s eyes opened instantaneously, though they soon became droopy as she squinted at me.
  34.
  35. “Hhnyaaa...? Wha ish it, Kaz’ma...?” She asked at a normal voice tone. My neck hairs stood on end as I quickly held my finger to my mouth.
  36.
  37. “Quiet! There’s something loose in the house!” I urged the manticore girl with a still-hushed voice.
  38.
  39. A second passed before Kora’s amber, feline eyes bulged as she sat straight up, her wings stretched out and her tail arched up in a striking position despite being de-barbed from last night.
  40.
  41. “Are you sure?!” She whispered with a predatory intensity in her stare.
  42.
  43. “I’m positive! It just came in here a second ago and then left!” I felt my skin prickle in fear.
  44.
  45. “Huh?” my monstergirlfriend blinked in confusion as she sniffed the air suddenly, her eyes shut tight as she took in the room’s scents. Her eyelids flung open as her light-tan face bleached. “No...It can’t be...!” She gulped. Looking over to the door at first, she then darted her face towards her desk.
  46.
  47. “What is it? Do you know what kind of animal is in the house?” I asked with uneasiness. If Kora was spooked, this had to be SERIOUS.
  48.
  49. “Oh shit...Oh SHIT...!” She began tussling her crimson hair with terror in her tone. “Need to think...need to think...!”
  50.
  51. “Tell me what it is, please!” I demanded in my hushed tone. Kora then looked up at me and gripped my shoulders, staring into my eyes. For the first time in the past three...now four days since I arrived, I’d seen many sides to Kora...but the look upon her face was completely new: terror beyond words. She looked pale, sweaty, and even began to tremble.
  52.
  53. I began to open my mouth until the doorknob clicked open and s thunderous, jolly, bass-voice chirped,
  54.
  55. “Good morning, sweety! Guess who’s home early~!”
  56.
  57. I didn’t get the chance to see the owner of the booming voice, Kora had shoved me under the covers at lightening speed all in a mere millisecond.
  58.
  59. “EEK! KNOCK FIRST!” Kora suddenly shrieked as I felt her pull the covers up to her bare chest.
  60.
  61. “Ah! Sorry, Kora!” The male voice apologized quickly before shutting the door. All while this was happening I was confused, scared, and my heart was a jackhammer in my ears as I broke out into a bigger cold sweat.
  62.
  63. “Under the bed,” Kora whispered to me in a hushed but frantic voice. Not needing any more direction I quickly crawled from the sheets and comforter onto the cold wooden floor and under the dusty abyss below my lover’s bed frame. All about were discarded clothes, torn wrappers for some sorts of packages that weren’t food-related, all surrounded by a low-hanging bed-skirt as I covered my mouth and tried desperately to keep my breathing soft and quiet.
  64.
  65. “Gimme a sec!” I heard Kora call out rather familiarly to the person outside. “I...Uh...got kinda hot last night. Sorry about that!”
  66.
  67. “No worries, pudding,” the male voice chuckled.
  68.
  69. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Was this a monsterman? And if so, who??
  70.
  71. “Okay, I’m decent now,” my girlfriend chimed back after taking a deep breath. I heard the door open and the heavy thumps of paws entering as Kora squealed in delight. “Welcome home, Daddy!”
  72.
  73. My heart stopped beating. A cold shiver ran up my spine as my throat went dry and my eyes bulged.
  74.
  75. ‘HER DAD?!’ I thought to myself in pure horror.
  76.
  77. “Thank you, sweety-pie,” her father cooed back. I could hear them hugging tightly, Kora giggling into his arm or chest or something (it was muffled).
  78.
  79. “Why didn’t you tell Sis or me you were coming home so early?” Kora asked as they sounded like they had parted.
  80.
  81. “Ah, well,” the patriarch laughed uneasily. “The trip was cut short due to some sort of accident. Neither of us were hurt, but we had to evacuate the island just last night.”
  82.
  83. “What happened?!” I heard Kora gasp in worry.
  84.
  85. “They don’t know, honestly,” her dad sighed. “They haven’t ruled out terrorism, but the likely cause they suspect was a gas-line leaking and getting ignited. Thankfully no one seems to have been injured and everyone at the resort was accounted for after we all quickly left.”
  86.
  87. “Weird...”
  88.
  89. “Yes, well, in any case,” the man of the house cleared his throat. “Everything is fine nonetheless. Your mother is busy sleeping right now due to jet-lag, so try not to wake her. She may be out for a full six hours, poor thing.”
  90.
  91. “Six hours?” Kora awed. “Even Sis doesn’t sleep that much in one go...”
  92.
  93. “Like I said: SEVERELY jet-lagged.”
  94.
  95. I took in the conversation with fascination and fear. I recalled the family photo in Kora’s computer that showed the two parents, remembering that the father was built like a muscular man of my world, his frame tall and shoulders wide. But that was a picture from probably around 13 or 14 years ago, so for all I knew he could have been even bigger like Hippa’s mother seemed to have gotten later on.
  96.
  97. “So then, I see the house hasn’t burned down while we’ve been gone,” the father guffawed.
  98.
  99. “Oh please, Daddy,” Kora groaned with a giggle. “Sis and I are adults. House-sitting is a piece of cake after all these years of you and Mom going on trips.”
  100.
  101. “I know,” he chuckled. “But I can’t ever forget the first time we left you two home alone for a week.”
  102.
  103. “Th-That was ten years ago!” My girlfriend pouted. “And we didn’t burn down the house!” She whined. “...just the stove...” she muttered under her breath.
  104.
  105. “Oh, lighten up, pumpkin,” Kora’s Father spoke with warmth. “You two both learned your lesson and we never had any incidents after it.”
  106.
  107. “Yeah...” Kora agreed with an embarrassed tone.
  108.
  109. “So, have you checked your desk yet?” The patriarch asked with an audible smile.
  110.
  111. “Hm?” His daughter responded as I heard the sound of footsteps and tearing of parchment wrapping. Then, with a gasp that made even me jump, Kora squealed again as I heard her jump in excitement. “You found it! I can’t believe it! Ooooh, thank you so much, Daddy!” She squeaked in girlish excitement as I could hear them hug again.
  112.
  113. Puzzled, I didn’t know what her dad could have gotten her that would elicit such a reaction.
  114.
  115. “You’re welcome, sweetheart,” the father laughed back. “I checked for the things you told me to look out for that would make it a bootleg, but I guess I need your keen eyes to confirm it.”
  116.
  117. “Let me see...” Kora said with a calm tone of concentration. “Paint-apps are sharp and clean...joints properly aligned...figure’s placed in a perfectly neutral pose with careful positioning...water slide decals are perfectly aligned... and the company hologram is there and perfect. Yup, it ‘s legit! Thank you again!” I then heard Kora bounce in her excitement as she must have hugged her father once more. I had never guessed Kora to be a ‘daddy’s girl’, so to me it felt like she became a completely different person just now.
  118.
  119. “You’re very welcome, sweetheart,” her father replied back happily. “Now, what’d you say we go get some....eh...EH...”
  120.
  121. Instantly, a deafening, clamorous sneeze filled the room as I felt my body prickle with goosebumps. It was like a lion’s roar condensed into a sneezing explosion as he fired the shot not once, but twice. With a loud sniffling of his sinuses, the male manticore gave an audible shudder as he grumbled.
  122.
  123. “You okay, Daddy?” I heard my girlfriend ask with worry.
  124.
  125. “Goodness...” the father gave a nasally snork. “That were SOME sneezes...I’m fine sweety, just a...eh...EH-!” He began as he blasted again. And again. I could feel the floor reverberate from his monstrous sneezes.
  126.
  127. “Daddy...?” Kora gulped
  128.
  129. “Oomph...” her dad shivered. “Excuse me a minute, pumpkin. I’m going to go take some allergy spray. Must be the pollen from the resort finally setting in...” He mumbled as he walked out of the room.
  130.
  131. I laid under the bed, petrified. When all was quiet I heard Kora’s soft footsteps come to the bedside as she leaned downward and whispered,
  132.
  133. “Stay tight. I’ll let Hippa know where you are and we’ll plan things from there. Sorry for the sudden change of things.”
  134.
  135. “Understood,” I whispered back as Kora stood up and walked about. I could hear phone-screen taps, figuring that she was texting the centauress.
  136.
  137. Day Four in Monster World was off to a horrible start...
  138.
  139. —-
  140.
  141. Rohana Basilequos shifted in her custom-made centaur resting chair. Nearly 9 feet tall due to her half-ogre heritage, everything she wore or utilized for living was custom-fashioned, a benefit of being accepted in her biological father’s family the past decade. But even in her uniquely-tailored nightgown and personally-commissioned bed she was still tossing in her sleep.
  142.
  143. Her nose twitched as her body grew hot, her humanoid-half sweating as her ears flapped in her half-conscious state. Her loins burned as her chest felt tight, the mammoth breasts swelling in her half-awake arousal. Her dream had become erotic, thoughts of a shadowy being mounting her from behind. Yet she could not tell what her assailant was.
  144.
  145. Something about the black silhouette was frightening, and yet exciting. It was smaller than her yet it’s punier size ensnared her and gave Rohana a thrill she hadn’t felt before: submissive arousal. Centauresses were dominant by nature usually, and even though she had grown up raised by her gentle ogre mother, Rohana had always been an aggressor. Even her mate, the father of Hippa, was scared of her when he broke her in, the much taller heiress subduing him when she was finished with the act, injuring him even with a fierce kick to his humanoid chest when he attempted another mounting. They only mated two more times after that, the poor male’s health and spirits declining to the point of losing his edge as a warrior. According to some rumors even, the male had become so pathetic that he was turned into a gelding and disinherited.
  146.
  147. Even her manticore husband had been subservient to Rohana. It was her decision that they have no children together, where they lived, what doctors they saw, even the diets of the household. Kurr Mantic protested on occasion but ultimately compromised with his centauress wife on virtually everything.
  148.
  149. But now, a novel feeling was coursing through the matriarch’s body as her dream became a thrilling nightmare of being a bottom to a weaker, lesser being. As she slumbered, her nose continued to twitch at the strange, alluring odor in the house...
