In the year 2071, the Solar System is linked by a network of hyperspace gateways. Police lose their grasp on crime and a bounty hunting system has been implemented. On an old fishing starship called the "Bebop," a cool as Zen man of mystery, a macho former hard-boiled cop, a brash and fickle woman with a large debt, a whimsical whiz kid hacker and an unsuspecting Welsh Corgi band together to hunt bounty heads for a meager living. Unfortunately, they are some of the unluckiest people in the star system. These are the stories of the adventurous (and misadventurous) lives of four struggling people and a dog.

I got into this series around December 2005. I managed to see all the episodes during the summer. It took awhile to get all the DVDs.<br/><br/>And I would agree with those who knew the series longer than me. It&#39;s very cool to watch.<br/><br/>Cowboy Bebop takes place in the future, 2071 A.D. An alternate future when the economy and Eco system went bad on earth and numerous populations of humans fled to live on Mars, Venus, or any of the moons that are close by the other planets.<br/><br/>The story is about a bounty Hunter name Spike Speilgel. Who has had a dark past which he doesn&#39;t talk about to many people. His partner is Jet Black owner of the Bebop starship. Jet is an ex cop who quit the I.S.S.P. for his own reasons. He&#39;s also like a father figure to Spike.<br/><br/>Together they travel around the solar system to find some wanted criminals who have bounties on them. With those bounties Jet and Spike are able to get money with no trouble at all. Course they have to bring in the criminals alive, otherwise they won&#39;t get the reward money if the criminal is dead.<br/><br/>Throughout the series Jet and Spike will get team up with Faye Valentine a young woman who&#39;s past is a mystery to her, Ein a data dog who is very smart, and Ed a girl who&#39;s naive but a talented hacker. With all these characters part of the Bebop team, they make one combination of teamwork, when they get along with each other.<br/><br/>Each episode is good in it&#39;s own way. There&#39;s plenty of Character development too when you watch the entire series. I like how the series was influence by Lupin the 3rd. Which is pretty cool to see something that looks like it&#39;s Lupin, but it&#39;s incredibly different.<br/><br/>Those who want an anime that&#39;s serious and not childish, may enjoy this show. It&#39;s very well animated, and since it&#39;s taken place in mixed cultures, it&#39;s very international. Featuring characters of all races and culture. Which I heard is why it&#39;s successful in the USA.<br/><br/>So those who haven&#39;t seen the series, can check it out by borrowing the DVDs from someone you know or buy volume 1 of the DVD to see for your own opinion on the series. It&#39;s suggested for 13 and up due to it having language, violence, and some nudity.
I simply don&#39;t understand. Alright, the animation quality was better than other things that were out at the time, and the music is really good... but seriously, there is no overarching story. NOTHING HAPPENS. They hardly ever get that bounty they are looking for. I just don&#39;t get it. Why does this show have the same rating as fullmetal alchemist brotherhood? What the heck am I missing? Maybe it&#39;s because I&#39;ve watched some of the best that anime has to offer, but this is excruciatingly boring and I&#39;m just tired of it. I got to episode 15, more than half-way through the show before I made the decision to quit. I gave it the royal try.
