BACKGROUND: yubi lived in the countryside for most of her life, with her parents and twin brother. she was never really close with them, except for her twin. her parents were strict, especially with yubi being their only daughter. they barely let her outside, and pretty much tried to control most of the twins' life. not only that, but they were barely home because of their jobs at the hospital. expectations and their lack of presence in her life had caused yubi to feel detached from them, but she still genuinely loves them. her brother was the one that lent her a shoulder when she needed one, and helped her with her homework. her parents had told her that she wouldn't make it into the university she was planning on applying for, or that she would even make it out there alive, but she still worked hard. she worked, and studied, and accepted awards for her grades and extra-curriculars. when her acceptance email came in from the university, the feeling was bittersweet. she was ecstatic that she would finally be able to move away from her parents' clutches, but on the other hand she'd have to leave her brother behind. they still keep in contact often, but yubi (and sometimes mark) will travel down to busan to visit her brother.

PERSONALITY : if there's anything that anyone knows about yubi, it's that she's an incredibly selfless person. she's the type that's always willing to do a favour for you (even if you don't ask), will order things for you if she knows you're anxious, and volunteer to do things for others that she doesn't even know. call her a push-over, but she'd rather call herself a people-pleaser. she likes making people happy, and would do anything to avoid confrontation, even if it makes her upset; bottling it all in is sort-of what she does. for her whole life, yubi has always tried her best to look at the glass half-full, though some would call it innocence. that optimism is how she's made it this far, and how she's managed to move out of her house as an independent adult with a decent part-time job. yubi is still someone that can make her way through life on her own, but she doesn't necessarily want to be alone. as a hopeless romantic, yubi daydreams sometimes of what it would be like to have someone romantically. of course she knows that she doesn't /need/ a man (especially when she's doing just fine on her own), but there's always the feeling of wanting someone that wants her back. she's just someone that's kind of insecure, and wouldn't think that people like her in that way.

  • TIME LAPSE – she was the first friend that yubi made when she got into university because they were roommates, and they became so close that they moved out together.
  • TIME LAPSE'S love interest – another friend she had met in university. they're both in the same program; him, time lapse, and yubi have been like a little trio of best friends since the moment they all met each other. she's known about time lapse's crush on him for a while now, and has decided to take matters into her own hands.
  • KIM DOYOUNG (or MARK) — her childhood best friend, and has also had a the fattest, most gigantic crush on yubi ever since they were kids. would probably do anything for her and to make her smile, and is so protective of her despite being younger. he kind of gets frustrated that she's so selfless sometimes, but there's really nothing he can do. tries to not make his crush obvious, but honestly even if he was (he is), yubi probably wouldn't even notice. yubi treats him like a younger brother, and always tries to give him advice or cheer him up.
  • NAKAMOTO YUTA — a more recent friend she made because of her job at the diner. they often have the same shift, and he teaches her japanese sometimes during their breaks (which she is actually... the only thing she's bad at learning). he sometimes joins her in her volunteering at the animal shelter. might have a crush on her, but she'll never know that.

HIS PERSONALITY : quiet when you first meet him, but the biggest and most gigantic dork when he opens up to you. he's protective and incredibly encouraging, and would probably beat someone up if they hurt somebody he cares for. he likes to have fun and do things his way, but doesn't really care much about what other people have to say about him.

HOW DID YOU MEET? : they met when he moved in next door when she was 8. she had introduced herself while he was playing in front of his house and, well, the rest is history from there. they had become close pretty much off the bat, even though he is quite quiet, she's a pretty talkative person so it wasn't hard for her to get him to open up. they went to the same school together, and since he was the new kid, yubi made it her rightful duty to be his first best friend.

YOUR FIRST IMPRESSIONS : yubi thought... wow what a dork. she had seen him playing by himself in front of his house one day, trying to kick a soccer ball into a a makeshift goal. to no avail, he kept kicking it every which way b u t into the goal, which was quite... sad for yubi to watch. pitying the kid, she decided to walk up to him and help him, and she was pretty proud when he managed to score a goal (after a million more failures, but he did it!).

HIS FIRST IMPRESSIONS : he hasn't told her the first time he actually saw her, and probably never will. his first impression of her was... wow. like, literally just "wow". call him the personification of heart eyes because that is pretty much /exactly/ what he was (still is). he saw her helping a kid that had fallen on the playground at school, and watched as she was the first person to rush and help, telling someone to call a teacher. he's admired (and crushed) on her from afar ever since then.

HOW YOU ACT AROUND HIM : like the big sister he never asked for! yubi is determined to make sure that he doesn't do what she did and follow only what his parents want him to do.  she encourages his interests and always cheers him up; if he needs advice or someone to lean on, yubi is always there by his side. she's known him for most of their lives and can read him like a book. she's an affectionate sort of friend towards him, especially because she doesn't really see him as anything other than a little brother... until, well, somewhere down the road, he starts acting different. more forward. her heart unexpectedly flutters (just a /tiny/ bit) at his actions, the corny lines coming out of his mouth and the smile that curls his lips with them, and soon she can't even hug him for too long without feeling a vat of lava. but she likes /yuta/, right?

HOW HE ACTS AROUND YOU : sort of a dorky mess, he loves making her laugh. if she smiles, he's smiling too; if she's sad, he's... ready to beat someone up even though he's not that strong. he tries his best to make sure that yubi doesn't just let people walk all over her, and tries to suggest plans of action if he thinks that what she's doing could potentially hurt her. he'd totally lay down his life for hers. although he can be a bit dramatic sometimes, and he gets frustrated at how oblivious she can be. he feels like the second lead of his own drama. it's sad, really, and he knows that he should probably take initiative (or at least show /some/ semblance of interest in yubi in t h a t way) before someone else *coughyutacough* gets to her first. and he does... kind of. before, he would just drop some very vague, very discreet hints that he likes her– that he wants her to stay by his side. now, he busts out some cheesy lines that he's only heard on dramas and starts to act a little more protective over her, besides his usual casual hint.

RELATIONSHIP : he's the quiet but dorky dude that acts like the bigger brother (behind the scenes), and she acts like the older sister that he's never had. lots of pining, and moments that make her heart (unexpectedly) flutter.
