Pokemon: In a while, Sandile

[23:11] <Saia> The once brisk air of the Fall morning is slowly beginning to warm up, the last touches of summer showing itself before the world gives way to the new season. A soft breeze blows in through your window causing the letter in your hands to flutter. It really was an odd letter, just a simple note that arrived in the mail the previous week asking you to meet someone at the local Pokemon
[23:11] <Saia> lab at 9:30 AM. The handwriting was rather messy and you think you noticed a stain on the corner, but the seal on the upper right shows it to be an official letter from the Professor of the region.
[23:13] <Saia> If you leave now you'd be able to make it to the lab with time to spare.
[23:18] <Luna> "This sounds like fun. Mom an dad arent gonna be home for a while so why not take a look, huh Torch?"
[23:18] * Luna pats torch on the head, grabs her slingshot, and heads out to the lab
[23:22] <Saia> The town is already in the middle of their daily routine as you walk through it. Businesses are open calling customers to come in, people are on bikes speeding to their workplaces while some are carrying boxes of pizza delivering an early lunch somewhere. As you get closer you pass by a cop who seems to be struggling to stay awake. She gives a yawn before waving and continuing on her
[23:22] <Saia> way, the night shift finally over.
[23:23] <Luna> "Looks like im not the only one not fond of mornings around here, common Torch keep up!"
[23:25] <Saia> Eventually you make it to the lab and as you pass through the front doors you're greeted with an odd sight. A makeshift waiting room has been created with cubicle walls, a few chairs sit against the wall to the left with a desk on the right in front of an entrance further into the lab. However, the oddest sight would have to be the Machamp sitting behind the desk. Clad in a suit and
[23:25] <Saia> glasses it's furiously typing away on a slightly larger keyboard. It glances at you then the clock before pressing a button and "speaking" into the mic.
[23:26] <Saia> He then gestures to the chairs, you think he's asking you to take a seat.
[23:26] * Luna rubs her eyes and considers walking out the door right now, but sits down in a chair far away from the pokemon to see whats going on anyways
[23:30] <Saia> Some time passes before a scraggily man looking to be in his 30s bursts out from behind the entrance behind the desk. As you look at the clock you notice the time, it's 9:45. He seems to be breathless at this point. "Hi sorry about the wait, I'm The Prof-....Right back in the present. My name is Professor Saya Hall, but please just call me Saya."
[23:31] * Luna quickly stands up with a smile on her face "Hi old person! My names Luna, are you the one that sent me this note? Oh... and whats with the Machamp?"
[23:33] <Saia> "Oh don't mind him that's just Jackie, he's been a good friend of mine since I was your age so he's learned a bit."
[23:33] <Luna> "Neat!"
[23:33] * Luna waves at Jackie
[23:33] <Saia> "And yes, I sent you that note because I have a question for you. Well it's more like an offer actually."
[23:34] <Luna> "Do ya make a habbit of offering little kids stuff?"
[23:34] <Luna> "Cause i could go for some candy right now... maybe a cookie.."
[23:35] <Saia> "See, I would offer you some as a guest, but my daughter's here on vacation and she's claimed all the sweets in the house, but there's something else I'd like to ask you. How would you like to travel the region, take on the league challenge, and just have an adventure?"
[23:36] <Luna> "Aww but cooki... Wait?! You mean i can go around on an adventure?! Mom an Dad said it was alright?"
[23:36] <Luna> "Id love to! When do i start?! Where do i go first? You sure i cant have a cookie or two?"
[23:36] <Saia> "Yes, yes they have. I made sure to talk to them last week."
[23:36] * Luna is bouncing up an down so fast now shes almost a blur
[23:37] <Saia> "But before you can go, you need to pass a test."
[23:37] * Luna comes to a full stop
[23:37] <Luna> "Test?"
[23:37] <Saia> "It's simple."
[23:38] <Saia> The man pauses to take a Pokeball out of his pocket, "You just need to take this Pokemon and go for a walk. Then you must catch the first wild Pokemon you come across."
[23:39] * Luna looks down at Torch and grins "Piece of cake! Lets go!"
[23:39] <Saia> "So you don't need to worry, I wont Beedrill-ing you for information and academics with a written test." The man seems to chuckle for a bit at his own joke.
[23:39] * Luna gasps "You have a Beedrill here?! Lemme seeeeee!!"
[23:40] <Saia> "I-it was just a pun I'm afraid."
[23:40] <Luna> "...Whats a pun? Is that a new type of pokemon?"
[23:40] <Saia> "It's a joke."
[23:41] <Saia> "Anyway let's go."
[23:41] <Luna> "Oh.. old guys are weird arent they Torch?"
[23:42] <Saia> "Jackie, make sure to keep an eye on Yuuki while I'm out okay? And stop playing games on the work computer. I saw the controller under the desk and your minimized window."
[23:43] <Saia> The Pokemon seems to sigh for a bit bringing up the second pair of arms out from under the desk and laying a metal controller on its surface.
[23:43] <Saia> With that the two of you head out of the lab and begin making your way towards the edge of town.
[23:46] <Saia> Along the way you begin to notice something odd, there's sand everywhere. A thin layer has covered the sidewalk filling in most of the cracks, nearby you can hear the 'ooooh' and 'aaah's of kids crowding around something in the sandbox at the playground. One of them seems to have found a stick and has begun poking whatever found its way there.
[23:47] * Luna leaves the professor to see what the other kids are poking at
[23:47] <Saia> The professor stops as the two of you pass before pulling something out of his pocket, "Huh....Guess we don't need to go that far then."
[23:49] <Saia> The kids have crowded around two large brown lizards. Horizontal black stripes run across their backs as they snarl at the children with each poke. Eventually one snaps at the group scaring the kids off leaving you alone with the two Pokemon you recognize as Sandile.
[23:50] <Luna> "Aww look at them professor! Their cute!"
[23:52] <Saia> The professor walks over and takes a look at the two pokemon before handing you the ball he brought out before and an empty Pokeball. The former has a droplet of water etched on above the button, "Well they're wild. So your test starts now. I'll be on that bench over there."
[23:52] <Saia> "Have fun!"
[23:52] * Luna stops a few feet from the pair and smiles "Im sorry the others were being mean to you guys, do ya wanna be friends?"
[23:53] <Saia> The Pokemon watch closely, still snarling at you.

[23:54] * Luna stands her ground and opens up her hands "Aww dont be like that, im sure we will be good friends!"
[23:55] <Saia> The larger of the two sprays a jet of sand at Luna.

[23:55] * Crunk --> "Saia rolls 1d20-2 and gets -1."
[23:56] <Saia> The sand flies past your head and lands behind you, you can tell that it was aiming for your eyes.
[23:56] <Luna> "Woah that was cool! But why shoot that at me, im not tring to hurt you ya know."
[23:59] * Luna holds out the empty pokeball "Now common and hop into the pokeball or run along before those other mean kids come back"
[00:01] <Saia> Upon seeing the Pokeball the two leap out of the sand box and start rushing towards you. A wild look in their eyes and a snarl on their faces. Now that they've moved you finally notice something else, there is a young boy almost completely buried in the sand, beneath the place they were standing. He appears unconcious but is still breathing.
[00:03] * Luna jumps out of the way of the lizards and yells back to the professor "Hey i think someones burried in the sand over there!"
[00:03] <Saia> The two Sandile are now at your heels, circling you to keep you from running.
[00:03] <Saia> "Oh no....I'll get him you keep those off me. I didn't bring any of my team!"
[00:04] <Luna> "You gave me this one, with it an Torch I should be fine!"
[00:04] * Luna throws the loaded pokeball
[00:04] <Saia> The professor runs over to the box and begins to dig at the sand trying to get the kid out.
[00:05] <Luna> "Come out, whoever you are!"
[00:05] <Saia> The ball opens with a burst of light that quickly begins to take shape. As the light fades and the pokeball returns to your hand a small blue turtle stands in front of you.
[00:05] <Luna> "CUTE!"
[00:06] <Saia> The sandile have noticed the man digging in 'their' sandbox and have begun to return to get him away.

[00:09] <Saia> The smaller Sandile rushes forward trying to bite you.

[00:13] <Saia> It latches onto your shin and bites down hard, a small amount of blood flowing from where its teeth broke the skin.
[00:13] <Saia> The other moves closer to the sandbox and does nothing else
[00:14] <Saia> Torrent has received initiative

[00:14] <Saia> (Left shin)
[00:15] * Luna holds out her left foot "OWWOWWowww, Squirtle! Tackle this guy!"

[00:20] <Saia> The lizard goes flying off your leg and skids across the ground before weakly standing up.

[00:21] * Luna pulls out her slingshot and shoots the Sandile rushing for the kid

[00:21] * Crunk --> "Luna rolls 1d20-6 and gets -5."
[00:22] <Saia> The shot goes wide hitting the professor in the back of the head. "Ow! Luna, try to keep them away. They're weak to water, use that to your advantage."
[00:23] <Luna> "...Sorry"
[00:24] <Saia> The smaller sandile seems to be the fastest thing here and begins to show off, directing all of its swagger at the Squirtle.

[00:24] * Crunk --> "Saia rolls 1d20-4 and gets 7."
[00:25] <Saia> The small turtle doesn't know what to make of the situation, it's REALLY confused, but what it does know is that it wants to get rid of the show off.
[00:26] <Saia> The larger one seems to notice this and stops moving to keep an eye on the turtle.

[00:28] <Saia> Unfortunately the Squirtle can't think of doing anything but tripping, so it does. (-2 hp)

[00:32] <Luna> "Stop sittin there in a daze an give me a hand Torch!"
[00:35] * Luna takes aim at the Sandile nearest to the kid and shoots again

[00:36] <Saia> The shot once again hits the poor professor who rubs the back of his head before continuing to dig.
[00:37] <Luna> "Professor can you move your head closer to that sandile please!"
[00:37] <Saia> "Yeah sure, I'll just let it bite me."
[00:37] <Luna> "Thanks!"
[00:38] <Saia> The smaller sandile has begun to weakly make its way to the sandbox, but the larger one is already there. It attacks the professor.

[00:39] <Saia> It latches onto his head as he yells out, "Owowowowow! I was kidding!"

[00:40] <Luna> "Torch! Bite the big one!"

[00:43] <Saia> (HIT roll for damage)

[00:47] <Saia> Torch's teeth sinks in deep before he shakes and flings the Sandile to the side, clearly knocked out.
[00:48] <Saia> The sight of the attack seems to have snapped the squirtle out of his confusion.

[00:48] <Saia> Luna has received initiative
[00:49] <Luna> "Thats a good girl Torch! Your gettin a treat when we get back home. Squirtle do you wanna try again?"
[00:50] <Luna> (switch to squirtle)
[00:50] <Luna> (end turn)
[00:50] <Saia> (You only need to decide when their turn comes up on the initiative)

[00:51] <Saia> (Rolled it in the secret thing because it wasn't active this turn. It passed well enough to be cured)
[00:56] <Saia> The Sandile is furious at what happened to its friend. It rushes towards Torch and tries to latch on with its jaws.

[01:00] <Saia> The bite hits hard, causing Torch to flinch!

[01:02] <Luna> "Hang in there Torch! Squirtle, tackle the Sandile!"

[01:05] <Saia> The turtle SLAMs into the small crocodile once again sending it skidding across the ground, but this time it is assuredly unconcious.

[01:07] * Luna rushes over to Torch to see if shes ok
[01:07] <Saia> The sand and dust seems to settle and by now the professor has already gotten the kid out of the sand and dusted him off. The small boy yells a word of thanks before already running over to go play with his friends.
[01:08] <Saia> The professor has a solomn look on his face as he walks over looking at the two unconcious Pokemon, then to Luna.
[01:09] * Luna scratches Torch behind the ear then returns her to her pokeball
[01:09] <Saia> "The boy's safe. I checked him out before I let him run off."
[01:09] <Luna> "You did good today, thanks"
[01:09] <Saia> "You did too, you saved a life."
[01:10] <Saia> "But regardless of the circumstances, you were unable to catch a Pokemon like we agreed upon."
[01:11] <Luna> "Ya.. well thats alright, it was fun playing with your Squirtle professor!"
[01:11] <Saia> "That skill is indespencible for trainers, you understand that right? It can end battles much sooner and add allies and friends to your team."
[01:12] <Luna> "Kinda forgot about catching something when that first one took a bite of me.."
[01:12] <Saia> "Though you have learned an even greater skill and lesson today."
[01:13] <Saia> The professor smiles, "You choose to save a life instead of work on the test. You saw a more important thing than something that would benefit yourself, and that is quite possibly the greatest thing you could do."

[01:16] <Saia> "So Luna, I want you Torch and YOUR Squirtle to take the rest of today to pack and rest. Because tomorrow you'll be meeting me and the others at my lab at 4 AM to start your journey."
[01:18] <Luna> "MY Squirtle?! Its mine now?! Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!.... Wait, did you say 4am?"
[01:18] <Saia> "There's a sight I want you and the others to see, and it requires leaving before sunrise."
[01:18] <Luna> "Theres a 4am? People get up that early? Are they all crazy?"
[01:19] <Saia> "Tell you what, if you make it there on time, I'll give you a bag of homemade cookies."
[01:19] <Luna> "Ill be there!"
[01:19] <Saia> "I knew you would."
[01:19] <Luna> "Oh, umm.. but what about those two?" She says pointing at the sandiles
[01:20] <Luna> "Can we make them better an send them on their way?"
[01:21] <Saia> "I was gonna take them back to the lab and heal them up before handing them off to a friend to take to a nesting grounds for the species. I think they tried to claim the sandbox as their own little dessert, so why not send them to a real one?"
[01:21] <Luna> "That sounds great!"
[01:22] <Saia> "Now then, go on home and start packing. You've got an early start tomorrow
[01:23] <Luna> "Alright, thanks again for the Squirtle professor!"
[01:23] <Saia> "You've earned it."
[01:24] * Luna returns Squirtle to his ball and starts running home
[01:24] * Luna hugs the ball tight "I think ill call you... Torrent! Ya that will work!"
[01:25] <Saia> The professor smiles and waves as you dash off, after a bit he pulls out a phone. "Hey, Jackie.....mind coming to the park to pick up some stuff?....Another person's coming soon and I'm double booked? Hmmm, is she around? Okay have her take one of them."
