  1. Fire Emblem 6 Normal mode draft race
  2. Game:
  3. This is a ruleset for a draft race of Fire Emblem 6: the Binding Blade. Players must play on a rom with fast mode unlocked. Players use a hacked rom which removes all gaiden chapters. Even if a player satisfies the requirements to unlock a gaiden map, they will instead move to the next story map, with no option to play the gaiden.
  4. Players play normal mode.
  5. Players must record their time using an external timer. The timer starts when the player chooses “normal” on the difficulty screen. The timer can end any time after Roy seizes the throne in chapter 22 on the same game file. The player with the lowest submitted final time wins the competition.
  6. The timer will not pause unless the player is taking a break (see below)
  7. Once the timer has started, it will never revert to a previous time under any circumstances.
  8. Any accrued penalties (as described below) are added to the final time submission only, and are not added to the timer as it is running during the race.
  9. Recommended timers include LiveSplit or AKDylie’s race coordinator.
  10. Patti rule: If a player wishes to start an entirely new game, they must still play normal mode. The timer will continue to run during the entire process. You can use the new save game file in place of the old one should you desire.
  11. Players must play on an emulator capable of LUA scripting and must run DonDon’s RNG scrambler. If running, a green “active” will appear in the top left of the screen during the player phase. No other LUA scripts may be run.
  12. If a player initiates attack on player phase, resets the game, and resumes the chapter, the RNG scrambler may change the result of the attack. Players are not allowed to do this. If you reset in the middle of a player phase attack, you must restart the chapter instead of resuming.
  13. Recommended emulator is VBA RR.
  14. Emulator speedup and savestates are entirely disallowed. Functions such as rapid-fire key pressing are also disallowed. The emulator should run at exactly 100% speed all game long.
  15. It is supremely recommended to unbind the hotkeys related to these functions and to remove savestates from folders where they may be quickly loaded.
  16. Drafting:
  17. This draft is for 4 players. On the day of the draft, they will determine their picking order randomly.
  18. Players pick characters from the roster in “snake order” 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1 until 40 of the 46 characters in the pool are drafted.
  19. Roy, Marcus, Merlinus, Larum, Elffin, and Fae are free for all to use.
  20. Drafting ends when 40 characters (10 characters for each player) are drafted OR if, at the start of an odd-numbered round, all players unanimously agree to stop picking units.
  21. Playing the game:
  22. If an undrafted unit is force-deployed, they may not attack, counterattack, use staves, use items, open doors or chests, rescue drafted units (including through give/take commands), be part of a support conversation, or steal. Performing a prohibited action incurs a 5-minute penalty per unit per map.
  23. Undrafted units may use vulneraries and elixirs without penalty.
  24. An undrafted unit who performs forbidden actions while they are a red or green unit or berserked does not apply penalties.
  25. Deployment of an undrafted unit from the preps menu results in a 15-minute penalty per unit, which is applied once the chapter is completed.
  26. You may reset the chapter and undeploy the units to avoid this penalty.
  27. If you deploy an undrafted unit and incur the 15 minute penalty for that unit, that unit can still incur the 5-minute penalty for performing illegal actions above for this chapter only.
  28. Exception: If a drafted character can be recruited by using the “talk” command, all units able to recruit that character via talking may be deployed on the joining map, and follow the same rules as force-deployed undrafted units.
  29. The player who drafts Thea may deploy Shanna unpenalized in chapter 11a/10b through this rule.
  30. Use of the enemy control glitch or the same tile occupancy glitch is not allowed.
  31.
  32. Administration:
  33. Breaks: Players may elect to take a break from the game at any time after the start. If they do so, their timer does not run, and their emulator must be paused OR their game in a state where it cannot advance on its own (prep screen and status window). It is recommended, though not required, that the players agree upon a maximum break time. The recommended maximum break time is 15 minutes. If a player is out of break time, their timer will continue to run regardless of whether or not they are running the game.
  34. DNF: Players should communicate ahead of time how long they want to stream and how late they can expect the event to go. You enforce this with a DNF (did not finish) time. If a player is still playing the game when their timer has reached the agreed DNF time, they are encouraged to honorably submit DNF as their time instead of continuing to play. Players should communicate what an appropriate time would be.
  35. Restarting the race: If all players agree to restart the race, they can all delete their current game files and return to the main menu. Everyone’s timers reset to zero, break timers reset to their original values, and the race will restart with each player using the same team as they had for the previous attempts. Any progress players made on the old files cannot count towards the final time submission of the new race. This is the only circumstance in which the timer can revert to a previous time.
  36. Stream setup: Anyone intending to stream the game (including and up to any number of other player perspectives) should ensure that their emulator window can run at 100% speed at all times during the broadcast.
