- I tend to play Tanks, and the majority of my PvP has been with Dark Knight. (boy was I hype when DRK PvP was buffed literally every patch in Heavensward. Boy was I sad when Tar Pit and Carnal Chill didn't make it into newPvP)
- Being a tank can be hard. When is it better to lock down an enemy damage dealer and hope your team can kill them? When is it better to jump to the enemy healer and lock them out for five seconds, praying that your team will finish someone off? It can be hard to tell, and that's pretty cool!
- Now that the ranked season has started up though, I find myself... quite annoyed. The ranking system is a hell of a grind. I could win literally every match and it'd still take over a hundred matches to reach a high rank. And I certainly can't win every match. In fact, it feels like ranked matches are entirely out of my hands.
- Just getting a single bad melee player on my team is a loss.
- - It doesn't matter if I spot that an enemy samurai is at half health and I increase the damage they take and then stun/silence their healer. Not if my melee doesn't bother attacking the wounded target.
- - It doesn't matter if I mark targets and call things out, not if everything gets ignored.
- - It doesn't matter if I can predict enemy burst and always be ready with a clutch shield. Not if my melee decided to chase the enemy healer around a wall ten miles away.
- What the heck do I do?
- It's even 4v4, so I can't take advantage of the larger map and intrinsic chaos of 8v8s to get *something* done.
- I know I screw up sometimes, and I'm still learning. But in most matches, it feels like the things I can do don't matter. And even if they did, solo ranked is a gnarly grind.
