  2.
  3. (Posted a deck to Yugidecks here, but there I put in a 2nd Wild Tornado, when in reality I only have 1 right now. Would swap out Half Shut, which in itself would be Mirror Wall if I had it lol)
  4.
  5. 2nd time I've made KoG. I'm an avid Machine user, and while I try (and fail) to get Rare Metalmorph, I decided to try this deck out, mainly since I love using Storm. This is gonna be a fairly long post, just gonna pour out my thoughts on the deck and how it worked out.
  6.
  7. Deck Explanation and Card Choices:
  8.
  9. Bluff Trap's become a fairly known concept, so I don't feel the need to describe the ability in detail. The main advantage to using this strategy is to clear the field with Storm, then utilize the free token however you see fit. My goal was basically to make tribute monsters the main win condition. Also, 3 E-Cons really gives this a boost, I was very lucky to get max copies.
  10.
  11. In general, Bluff Trap is a great meta choice. There's no deck that does very well without backrow or some field spell, and so taking away the cards so many strategies are dependent on gives very easy wins. The main power play is so aggressive and beneficial card advantage wise: Storm + Tornado & Statue + Tribute Summon. In saying that, the opponent needs some ignorance to the strategy. If more people realize that this is right now the best Odion, they would know to not play right into it.
  12.
  13. The main trick to this deck is knowing when to set and when not to set. You'll often open the kind of hands where you have a tribute or E-Con, or a number of defense cards; you should hesitate to commit much to the field. Drawing Storm is critical to your success the majority of the time. In saying that, if you simply open a tribute & Storm together, you don't even have to think. Just pass and wait to make your play.
  14.
  15. Monsters:
  16.
  17. Big Core and Airknight were my ideal tribute summons. Big Core has a large attack and can't be destroyed by battle easily. Airknight is a fantastic card when the game is simplified, it's kind of OP in a deck like this. Its lower DEF, as well as Yugi's Yami field spell make it less preferable to Mefist for most, but I really like it here.
  18.
  19. Bubonic Vermin was filler initially, but proved to work out just fine. It's a lot better than it was when Rex was Tier 1. Thins the deck, and serves as great tribute fodder. It's a pretty decent draw when you don't open Storm, or have meh hands in general. Also, if you can attack directly with it, 900 damage can add up quickly. Obviously drawing multiples sucks, and I can completely see why someone would prefer to run Skelengel, Dark Mimics, or just more level 3-4 beatsticks instead. But still, don't knock it till ya try it :)
  20.
  21. Sphere, Ladybug, Possessed Dark Soul are all tech cards that could fit anywhere. Tbh these types of cards can carry you through PvP. Ladybug is often played around, but the occasional +1 or +2 is disgusting, or even flipping it on your turn for pure advantage is sick. At the very least though, Possessed is a staple that literally everybody should run. I'm not joking, it wins games by itself that you should probably lose. Won games stealing multiple Jerry Beans, Sonic Duck, Shine Balls and Venus, Cocoons, Dream Clowns, Priestess and Recruiter, etc.
  22.
  23. Lastly, I'll mention that Dunames is a great level 4. 1800 ain't no joke, before or after Storm it feels like such a power card. As passive as the deck can be, IMO it's necessary to have monsters that work really well by themselves, and Dunames is certainly one of them.
  24.
  25. Spells and Traps
  26.
  27. Storm and E-Con are the only spells you need. 3 E-Con could go just about anywhere, but this type of deck uses it to its fullest ability rather consistently.
  28. Wild Tornado is the stand out obviously, would run 2 if I had it. Apophis is a solid card here but never felt the need to run in multiples, maybe because I had cards like Vermin, maybe it's because it's the worst trap early vs. Harpie's. Divine Wrath can be hit or miss, but it's a sick card in the right spot. Could very well swap with Skull Lair though. I personally wouldn't run Jar of Greed here but it's all preference.
  29.
  30. Techs I tried: Giant Axe Mummy, Golden Apples
  31.
  32. I utilized Mummy throughout Silver and Gold, mainly to troll lol. If you tribute set it, your opponent has no idea what you're doing. If they don't have OTC anywhere, they'll blindly attack into it. Another perk was that 1700 was just good enough to be a threat, and it could soak up E-Con, Etaqua, and Sphere well. I always knew I would replace it with Mefist when I got more serious. As for Golden Apples, I only had 1 copy, and it was literally the worst draw after about turn 3.
  33.
  34. Plat 3:
  35.
  36. All in all I was extremely fortunate, I didn't lose 1 game once I got there. One guy dc'd, then went against 2 Relinquished, 1 Harpie, and to my greatest joy 1 Bluff Trap mirror. Also, I didn't face this deck's likely worst matchup in GK's. Assuming Switcheroo Soul Exchange GK's will be more of a factor over time, I would expect that deck to be Tier 0 when it becomes optimized, or when everybody gets all the pieces they need.
  37.
  38. 1st game: So at the very start of Plat 3 I run into this. We've all seen this before, however just recently I saw on stream someone deal with this in the simplest way. Instead of taking the loss, they simply waited 2 mins and got a free win. So that's exactly what I did, and got lucky. I dunno if there's a post or anything on this, might make one myself since seeing this at Plat 3 of all places is beyond scary.
  39.
  40. 2nd game: Next game was against Relinquished. Game went on a while, eventually I summoned an Airknight that he sucked up. His field was a set backrow, my Airknight, Relinquished and a Senju. I used a Storm + Wild Tornado combo to pop the backrow and Senju, then used a PDS to take Relinquished. He proceeds to summon another Relinquished to take the one I stole. Luckily, I top another Storm. So I used a set Etaqua to shift it to attack, then use Bluff Trap to get a free Statue. He had exactly 1000 left for game.
  41.
  42. 3rd game: Went against Harpie's, this deck's best matchup up. Went predictably, made a huge Storm play. At one point they had Birdface and Sonic Duck with 2 backrow, I let the Birdface attack go through to get Bluff Trap working, I had Sphere for the Duck but I think he just didn't attack with it, might be wrong. After Storm, used E-Con to steal Birdface so he couldn't get a search, summoned a Big Core to attack over Duck. He waits about 2 mins and disconnects.
  43.
  44. 4th game: Played another Relinquished, not much happened. I saw Senju, and he had backrow throughout the game. Wound up poking with a Dunames, and eventually Apophis and Bubonic Vermin while I had the main Storm combo in hand, dealing with E-Cons and Etaqua all the while. He quit with 3 backrow and like 7 cards in hand, considered this extremely lucky.
  45.
  46. 5th game: My 5th win was a Bluff Trap mirror, fun stuff. We both know the other wants to get that Storm play off and play passively. I simply passed the first few turns with a set E-Con on field. He takes a couple turns to flip a set Dark Mimic lv 1 and attack for that swag 100 dmg. He makes a misstep and summons and attacks with a PDS. I would take it as a fairly dead card myself in this matchup, but giving me a free Statue was iffy. Rather than use Storm immediately, I decide to use my own PDS in hand to suck up his 2 cards, and attack since he had 3 backrow set. Got E-Con'd.
  47.
  48. On his turn he simply sets a 3rd backrow and passes. I choose to make my Storm play, and manage to hit 2 Wild Tornado. And the way the chain worked, his 2 monsters I stole got popped, and lastly I summoned Statue. Tribute it for Mefist, set Apophis, got Sphere'd. Next turn he doesn't summon, I summon Apophis in attack anticipating Etaqua, doesn't come though and I pitch a Mefist from his hand, getting him to 600. Next turn he sets a card, I summon a Vermin from the hand and put Apophis to defense. I believe he played the Etaqua but obviously it was a turn late, KoG boys!
  49.
  50. TLDR; Sacked the hell out of people with Storm, then summoned big monsters to win lol. Overall I really love this deck. As I said earlier, it's clearly dependent on the opponent not recognizing what you're doing. When someone ignorantly commits to the field, this might be the best deck to punish them, aside from Harpie's or Relinquished variants with Storm.
