  1. The Sideshow - Main Room
  2.
  3. The Sideshow is and old warehouse converted into a unique hodge-podge, a celebration of the eccentric, the curiosities, the weirdos and the freaks. Day or night it serves as bistro and club and marketplace for the oddities found within, playing an eclectic variety of music between acts on stage either indoors or out. While there is a schedule and there are regular performers, impromptu acts from the audience are highly encouraged even if they are amateur in nature.
  4. There is an antechamber before entry, twin red cushioned benches lining it while the walls are decorated with framed antique circus sideshow posters. This trend continues as one steps fully into the club, though the posters are mixed with paintings and photography of circus and sideshow life. Almost all of the art is for sale. In fact there is an alcove with additional unique pieces and oddities that are available. Various aquariums, mostly serving as specimen tanks, are set into the wall. The living creatures are not for sale.
  5. The floorplan and setup is as unique as The Sideshow itself is. The seating is a dynamic thing, predominantly set up to be community in style, with the long tables pushed together and groups encouraged to sit with one another. While there is the stray lonely table or two they are almost always reserved. One day the tables might be set up in rows to face the stage, another day they might be set up to line the perimeter. It all depends on the whims of the staff and the scheduled acts. The only things of certainty here are the location of the bar, the stage, and the sliding glass panels that open the south wall to the outside area. While there is always an open area for dancing or traveling acts, this moves as need be.

  9. There is a great deal of something more here, touches of deep and vibrant color with hints of magical music just barely out of range, that betrays the fact that there is a heavy flow of Kithain traffic here. Random chimera often appear, everything from tiny humanoid creatures that constantly steal from the alcohol supply to random flashes of color.

  17. Keira sits at the owner's table, speaking with Ethan over a meal. The afternoon crowd is light, Waitstaff still doing quite a bit of set up for the later day rush.
  18.
  19. Ferdinand pokes his head into the Sideshow, and then makes his way inside. He removes his cowboy hat, which looks like its been rained on. In fact? The Spaniard's entire person is rain-soaked! A hand comes up to wipe at his face, and then he'll make his way towards the bar. En route? He'l spot Keira and Ethan, the sight of the two brightening up his features and putting some spring in his step as he alters course and heads their way instead. "'allo, friends!"
  20.
  21. Ethan looks up from whatever slight glumness had caught him at the table (empty plate and pitcher, probably), and is pleasantly surprised. "Ferd! Where the hell you been, Hat Rat? Ya look half-drowned," he says cheerily, and stands up to hold out a hand/forearm for to shake.
  22.
  23. Keira lifts her head and looks over as the call goes out, inclining her head to Ferdinand. "Ferdinand." comes out polite and with a soft smile. A glance towards the doorway and an arched eyebrow. "I didn't know it was raining?"
  24.
  25. Ferdinand offers both Ethan and Keira a warm smile, then takes Ethan's forearm in a comradely greeting before looking back to Keira. "Oh, you know me and storm clouds. Always tussling when I get out on the open sea. Usually? They win. The one certainly did, this time, anyway." A pause. "At any rate, back in town to re-provision. Need to take another journey to Hy-Brasil now that the astrolabe is finally working again. But I'll new some new crew." He looks to Ethan, then back to Keira. "Things here are well? Or well enough? Anything I may assist with while re-provisioning is happening?"
  26.
  27. Keira sits at the owner's table, speaking with Ethan over a meal. The afternoon crowd is light, Waitstaff still doing quite a bit of set up for the later day rush. Ferdinand stand over by them, chatting amiably. (SETPOSE)
  28.
  29. Ethan is saying to Ferdinand, "I don't think I have sufficient time to relate everything that has gone on before you disappear again. I mean, I can try but it might be over drinks later on, as opposed to you sit and we all have a conversation." He looks to Keira, "Or she asks you to sit, it IS her place."
  30.
  31. Keira nods and motions to one of the other chairs for Ferdinand to pull out and relax. "It wouldn't hurt for all of us to see if the other has anything interesting to share."
  32.
  33. Ferdi looks overjoyed as Keira extends the offer of hospitality! The feral Spaniard wears his heart on his sleeve, and his emotions on his easily animated face. With a smooth, deft motion, he pulls out a chair and drops down into t, leaning in conspiratorially with a delighted Cheshire Cat grin on his face.
  34.
  35. Bobbi enters wearing a high-waisted short-sleeved corn flower blue dress, black knee-high adidas socks with the iconic stripes, a pair of converse chuck taylor all-stars, and her dreads pulled back in a fashionably messy bun. Other than her knees and parts of her face, all of her exposed skin is covered with tattoos: large swaths of blacked out flesh, floral sacred geometry, and a variety of sigils and alchemical symbols. A black Swedish Military geographer's bag is slung over her shoulder. She makes her way in, and heads over to the bar, having obviously been here before a number of times. There's a warm smile on her face.
  36.
  37. At your table, Ethan says "I only ask that one of you goes first."
  38.
  39. At your table, Ferdinand nods to Ethan, then looks to Keira. "M'lady, by all means," he offers as he yields his interest alongside Ethan.
  40.
  41. At your table, Keira arches an eyebrow slightly, sighing softly as she shakes her head at Ethan. "No eggshells. It's done, remember?" Then she pours herself another cup of tea, pulling it closer to blow on it as she thinks. "Ah well, I had a caravan decide to take a short cut through the scorpion lands, ended up needing rescuing. Oswald and Locke assisted there, though I'm looking at increasing Amaanat's protections so we're able to handle things better in the future." she shrugs lightly. "That's the big news on my end I suppose."
  42.
  43. At your table, Ferdinand blanches a little at the news, the blue undertones to his otherwise tan complexion becoming more prominent. "I'm sorry to hear that, and that I was not here to assist," he offers apologetically. "I can see about contributing to the defense and security by calling in a favor from an old friend, for when I am out sailing on the astral seas?" He looks quite determined to make up for his absence, worrying at his lower lip at the news of unwelcome incursions.
  44.
  45. At your table, Ethan shrugs and says "I was just being garden-variety nice, ladies first, and whatnot," and then adds in a mutter, "Dammit, missin' out on scorpions!" But perks up to listen politely to what all is said. "Well, good to know that everyone was okay enough after the fact. You know, I did do a buncha fly-bys out there! It's just hard to spot things through the sandstorms, from above."
  46.
  47. Emrick heads through the door, for a late lunch, since his shop is only a door or two over, and who has time to cook when you're busy building, whatever it is Emrick is currently building. He heads to the bar, smiling and nodding at anyone he should recognize as he moves into the room.
  48.
  49. At your table, Keira lifts her hands lightly and waves off Ferdinand's concern. "It was one greedy merchant who thought he could save some time and pay his drivers less. But yes, I believe it's time that Amaanat start building itself up. At the very least so the merchants that do follow the rules feel they're protected bringing their wares through." A smile goes to Ethan and she nods. "That's why the airships are provided maps and coordinates, and know where the beacons are. The desert provides at least some protections."
  50.
  51. Keira sits at the owner's table, speaking with Ethan and Ferdinand. The afternoon crowd is light, Waitstaff still doing quite a bit of set up for the later day rush.
  52.
  53. At your table, Ferdinand nods at Keira's summing up. "My old friend should be able to assist with fortifications, and is the sociable sort. I'll set up a meeting and such. They can operate from forward operating base by the Inn at the shrouded sun oasis.
  54.
  55. At your table, Ethan then says "Sounds like things got pretty well handled, there. So, good stuff. All sounds good to me, that is."
  56.
  57. Emrick will snag a soda and then head to the table to sit down, he's probably invited, he assumes.
  58. Emrick sits down at Owner's Table.
  59.
  60. At your table, Keira nods to Ferdinand. "Thank you." Then motions with one hand to the Spaniard. "Any news on your end? You're the one of us that's been traveling, I imagine you've seen something interesting?"
  61.
  62. At your table, Emrick says "Is it alright if I join you?" as he sinks into a chair. He gives everyone a smile, the longest one to the Spaniard that he hasn't met yet. "I'm Emrick, nice ta' meet ya."
  63.
  64. Taking a seat, Bobbi drums her fingers on the bar as she looks over her choices. The faint sound of metal rings knocking against the bar can be heard in each repetition. Having made up her mind, she gives a light slap to the bar and a single emphatic nod. "Whiskey, if you please," she says cheerfully to the bartender, "the cheap stuff ... no, make that the cheapest." With that she reaches over and seems to share some secret handshake with the bartender, and it doesn't seem like this action was unexpected. As she waits for her drink, she looks around, side-to-side, up-and-down. She goes to wave to Emrick, just misses him, but doesn't make motions to pursue.
  65.
  66. At your table, Ferdinand looks to Keira, his brow furrowing, and a dark cloud settles itself onto his animated face as he's called upon to share news. "I wish I had better news to share - the Perilous's astrolabe malfunctioned. We drifted in the sidereal for - for who knows how long. I jury-rigged a workaround, good enough to drop the crew off at this waystation or that, and then I and the ship limped back here, but the astrolabe gave out before arrival, so the final part was on me entirely, and mostly luck. Hy-Brasil continues to be a proxy war between two camps from a realm in the Deep. Voivodja. They've rendered Hy-Brasil into - into something else than what it was and should be. Where once it was twilight, where dawn and dusk struggled in balance? It has now become a - a red and pleasant land." The weight of the troubles afflicting Ferdi's homeland weigh heavily on his shoulders. Then he looks to Emrick. "'allo! I, am Don Ferdinand de la Luna, son of el Mouro Encantado - chief metallurgist, armorer and swordmaker to the Silver Knights at the Gateway Castle, rited by deed as the Eminence of Blades, known to all and sundry as also the Prince of Orphans, (current) Captain of the Perilous, (current) Lord Host at the Inn of the Crescent Moon, former champion (currently in exile) of the Last Garrison at the Arcadian Gates, former page to the Most Sagacious Library of the Archmasters at the Fors Collegis Mercuris on Mus before its fall and sack, sidekick (retired) to the Exalted Guardian of the Akashic Record known as the Fiery Fist of the Phoenix, etc, etc, etc."
  67. Emrick looks over "Unless you like drinking gasoline, I'm totalling up for buying ya' some top shelf whiskey Bobbi."
  68.
  69. At the owner's table? The feral looking Spaniard talks with his friends, hands gesticulating animated in the air as he regales them with some sort of tale.
  70.
  71. At your table, Ethan listens and then with wide eyes ventures "So... guessing that is bad. Well. Not good. Given everything that is going around, I'm, well, I'm in the process of building my household. So, gonna be a little more doing stuff instead of just running by places on patrol. That's all I got. I guess I made it sound like more than it was."
  72.
  73. Bobbi turns as Emrick speaks to her. "Hey," she says to Emrick. "I spend so much of my day around gasoline, I've developed a bit of a taste for it. I have a sculpture for you." Then noticing Ethan at the table also, she notes, "and one for you too. Just come by my loft sometime and pick one out. You'll have to wait until after my show to take it home. Which reminds me, I have a show soon. You should come if you can and are interested." Her shot of well whiskey arrives and she downs it like she's used to drinking gasoline all the time. "If you want to buy the next one, you can, but not a big deal. You'll need to pick it out, I usually live and die by the well." She then opens up her geographer's bag and removes a container of some sort with a plastic bag wrapped around it. Handing it to the bartender, she gives him a nod of appreciation, and then turns back to Emrick.
  74.
  75. At your table, Emrick says "Oh, uh, hi, uh What should I call you though? That's a lot of words, and I'm pretty sure a few of them didn't have to do with being fae, but some of them like, armorer, certainly caught my attention." he pauses a bit and then continues looking between Ethan and Ferdinand "Is something wrong?"
  76.
  77. Emrick raises an eyebrow at Bobbi's trade off and then huffs a bit in humor "Next drink of whatever you want is on me." he nods "I'm glad you found a space for your show, of course I'll be there, and let me know if I can help in anyway." he pauses "You have a sculpture for me?" he smiles warmly, his eyes lightly up a bit "That's really kind of you, I can't wait to see it."
  78.
  79. At your table, Keira waits until he's done before saying to Emrick. "Ferdinand. Just call him Ferdinand, he's Eshu kinain by blood, in case it got missed." A small smile follows as she takes a sip of her tea.
  80.
  81. At your table, Ethan says to Emrick, "As in he speaks like he were Dickens, getting paid per word. But it is all good adventuring stuff, so fine by me."
  82.
  83. At your table, Ferdinand nods emphatically as Keira sums up for the pertinent question. "What m'lady said. But aso, Ferdi for short." He looks to Ethan with a smile, "Or Ferd, too." A man of many names!
  84.
  85. At your table, Emrick says "And by some of those words a man of many bloodlines, and talents." he takes a moment to sip his soda and then adds "If you have something broken, an astrolabe or something? I could help fix it. Sounds like you're right swell at fixing things, but I can lend a hand if'n ya like."
  86.
  87. At your table, Keira motions to Emrick, "From what I've been told he's quite handy, if anyone could help that's currently about I'm sure he's your best bet." Speaking to Ferdinand before nodding in agreement with Ethan. "Quite the adventurer."
  88.
  89. At your table, Ferdinand eyes Emrick, as if he were sizing him up. "Consider yourself conscripted into the merchant marine! or at least contracted. I have affairs of state to give attention to, so whatever aid you can lend in repairs and maintenance of the dreamship would be most appreciated. She's docked over at Amanaat."
  90.
  91. Bobbi gives Emrick a little shrug and an appreciative smile before turning back to the bar. "Hmmm, top shelf, top shelf," she mutters. "Ok," she says to the bartender, "one Jameson." Turning back to Emrick she gives a thumb's up, her idea of what 'top shelf' means perhaps quite different from other's. "Yeah, I can't give you the big one," she notes, "but any other one is yours. I think they turned out quite well. Trying to pin down an exact date for the opening, but it will be at 'Metal Collective,' which seems fitting. I'll keep you informed." As her drink arrives, Bobbi lifts it up appreciatively to Emrick. "To your health," she says before taking a decent sized sip, deciding to savor her 'top shelf' rather than just downing it like 'gasoline.'
  92.
  93. At your table, Emrick says "Well as long as it's a mechanical problem I can fix it up in a day or so probably, anything not mechanical is gonna take me longer, specially' if I got to bring in materials to repair it. That works though since'n I need to see what fortifcations I can do for Amanaat anyway, so two birds one hammer. I can get her repaired, after that I'll have to bid her adieu' though, Baron Ethan here already has my word as for workin' for him and such, but I'm happy to help with the repairs while'n you need the extra hand."
  94.
  95. At your table, Ethan says with a nod "There ya go. And let me know if you want a lift out there. Pretty sure everyone remembers the LAST time I took a nocker out Amanaat ways. And Ferd, don't go off on any little missions without checking to see if I'm available. I missed /scorpions/, dangit."
  96.
  97. At your table, Ferdinand ...blinks. Then blinks again. "Baron ... ?" The moonmaus had been gone for some time it appears! Then he rises and orders drinks, "FLAGONS! FLAGONS FOR M'LORD!"
  98.
  99. Ferdinand rises from the table, boisterously ordering drinks and clapping Ethan on the shoulder. "FLAGONS! FLAGONS FOR M'LORD!"
  100.
  101. At your table, Ethan says almost deadpan "Ah geez."
  102.
  103. At your table, Keira motions towards the stage lightly with one finger. "If you go back stage and upstairs..." She blinks and pauses as Ferdinand gets boisterous, her eyes closing briefly before continuing. "The Trod to Amaanat can be found there. Saves one from getting lost in the desert."
  104.
  105. Emrick gives her a cheers back with his soda and smiles "I haven't heard of that place, Metal Collective, I'll have to come by sometime. I just finished a bit of metal work that you might want to check out, and am almost done with a third, I'll bring em' by when we do coffee sometime." he nods
  106.
  107. Ethan takes advantage of the arm to yank Ferdinand back into his seat. "Sit DOWN you overdramatic knucklehead!" but he does not sound too upset.
  108.
  109. Ferdi EEEEPS as he's yoinked down! But then he's all smiles, leaning over to give Ethan a sidearm bro-hug. Something has made him quite happy!
  110.
  111. Emrick looks to Keira with a mischievous grin, "You still got some music instruments lying around? I could play a few songs if we really wanna embarrass Ethan."
  112.
  113. Bobbi raises an eyebrow at the outburst and manly affection, and then shakes her head in amusement. After letting that pass, she notes to Emrick, "Sounds lovely. You know how to find me." She then turns back to continue working on her 'top shelf.'
  114.
  115. At your table, Ferdinand says "Always good when one of our own ascends along the kingsroad," offers Ferdi, with affection for Ethan's rise. "And yes, of course, as soon as the astrolabe and nav system is working, maybe you can come with me to check on the cold war between outlander camps in Hy-Brasil.""
  116.
  117. At your table, Ethan half-mumbles "Thank you," in Ferdinand?s direction, and then says "You might probably be better off walking anyway, Emrick. But in a pinch, if you are neither airsick nor scared of heights, I can oblige. Any landing you can walk away from, they say. Limping counts as walking."
  118.
  119. Keira nods to Emrick's question. "Back of the stage, if you ever want to help yourself. They're nothing fancy but will carry a tune."
  120.
  121. Emrick smiles and nods, "Lemme know if you want them all tuned up, or replaced with hand made ones." he get up from the table and looks to Ethan "You want me to make a violin sound bad, or a guitar sound bad?" he says with a smirk and a chuckle
  122.
  123. Ethan makes a sarcastic pffft with his mouth at Emrick's words. "Do your worst, you could be no worse than Loudmouth here. Besides, play /well/ and it helps the business."
  124.
  125. Keira smiles softly to Emrick, "If you like, you can do either. They're for anyone to use if they wish to perform here though, so I wouldn't work yourself ragged over them." She moves to rise and gently pats Emrick on the shoulder. "If you'll excuse me, I have some things to tend to before the evening crowd. Ethan, Ferdinand." Nodding to those at the table as well.
  126.
  127. Ethan waves a little bit, saying "Bye Keira. Thanks for lunch!"
  128.
  129. Emrick nods "I'll just spend an hour or so on them each, nothing big." and then goes to get a violin, he steps on the stage and exhales a bit "Here goes nothing." he says as he raises the bow "And I mean, it, first time actually playing it." he nods and then begins.
  130.
  131. Wick steps into the Sideshow - hair a bit mussed and still damp from a shower. He pauses, casting his gaze across the room until it settles on the Owner's Table. He drifts over with a relaxed smile and offers a nod to those about to leave. "Hello."
  132.
  133. Wick pauses, blinking as Emrick takes to the stage. His smile turns luminous as he stands, listening to him try his hand at that violin.
  134.
  135. Emrick begins playing a lively tune of some celebratory jig on the borrowed violin. Though the music is quite good, it's clear the player is not at home in a performance space, and seems to be concentrating on every movement more so than enjoying the playing of it.
  136.
  137. Bobbi downs the last of her whiskey and places the glass on the bar. Then she turns her attention to watch Emrick's 'attempt' at the violin.
  138.
  139. Keira moves to The Sideshow - Upstairs
  140. Keira has left.
  141.
  142. Ferdinand nods to Keira, "Safe travels, m'lady."
