What's up with Danny?

Hello.

It's me, a random anonymous translator, sometimes called NTRanon by various people. I figured now would be a decent time to explain what's been going on with Danny, AKA NTR Homestay, https://vndb.org/v20763

For a quick bit of background, the translation is a joint collaboration between myself and Mayumianon. Mayumianon did roughly 60% of the TL, and I did roughly 40%. We began working together in late December 2018. I finished my section of the TL sometime in the summer (I forget the exact date, June-July probably), and Mayumianon finished his portion of the TL around September. So, yes, the translation is 100% done and has been for months.

At that time, Mayumianon said that he wasn't happy with the state of his translation, and said that he wanted to redo it so he could improve it. We agreed that he'd redo his parts until he was satisfied, and then move on to editing, wordwrapping, image editing, test playthroughs to check for bugs, and all the other things you need to do.

Mayumianon continued re-working his TL and was making good progress until about mid-November, when he stopped. Initially, I wasn't concerned - both him and I have taken quite significant of several weeks at a time before. It's a fan translation, we had no deadlines, and if one of us didn't feel like translating or was busy with other things that was fine. However, when he wasn't around for a full month, I got a bit worried, and sent him a message. Unfortunately, I haven't received a response from him from that, or any other message I sent.

After waiting roughly three months, I felt that I had to decide whether to just quit the project or move on without him. I decided it'd be a waste to just abandon a finished TL, so I decided to move on to editing. Since editing a game like this is a mammoth task, and because it's better to have someone else review your work, I asked an editor who's worked with me on multiple projects to help out with the editing process.

As of right now, that is where the project currently stands, in editing. After that, wordwrapping and playtesting remain, then the TL should be ready to release. I won't provide a timeline - it'll be done when it's done.

To be honest, I'm very uncomfortable with making all of this public. I'm only doing it because I know Mayumianon browses the threads and I'm hoping he might see it and get in touch again. If he does see it, I'd like to sincerely apologize to him for making all of this public, and I really hope he does get in touch.

Additionally, I'd like to mention that certain portions of the game, specifically the little text that pops up when you hover over an option in the flowchart or a scene in the recollection mode, is still untranslateable with my current knowledge of the engine. The guy who made the tools indicated he knew how to TL those parts, but he never explained it, and as he's a random 4chan anonymous I'm not quite sure how to get in touch beyond asking in this message that hopefully he'll see.

Finally, I'd like to be clear that absolutely nothing here should be interpreted as being critical of Mayumianon in any way. He was extremely professional and a very hard worker and great to work with. I have nothing but goodwill for the man.Honestly, I'm actually quite worried, I hope he's okay, wherever he is and whatever he's up to.
