𝒀𝒖𝒂 𝑭𝒖𝒈𝒂𝒊 is a woman with a laidback demeanor, and if not for the cloak adorning her back, one would never know by gauging her spirit pressure and zanpakuto size that she is strong enough to bear the mantle of captain. And by her behavior, it's hard to take her as a serious threat in the first place, as she often appears to be lost in her own thoughts and unaware of the world around her. In almost all situations, especially those where one would think it inappropriate to do so, she employs dark humor and enjoys searching for the silver linings. A blessing and a curse, if she does say so herself. It can be hard to contend with a captain that doesn't outwardly register the gravity of a given predicament, especially for those whose personalities may be more uptight and unbending. As labeled by her subordinates, she is a misanthropic woman who talks to her plants and does not react in a predictable manner, as if social conventions are lost on her.
Calling Yua an optimist simply because she acts cheery would be misguided. She is very much a realist who does not shy away from laying out the truth before idealistic subordinates. She is somebody that grasps better than most the harsh realities of her job as a captain of the Gotei 13 and will break any bad news to her underlings without fail, even deaths of comrades. This is where accusations tend to go flying that she cannot fathom social protocol, her cavalier attitude, and indifferent reactions to what may alarm most. Though she may accept the truth, she believes that hope is a firm motivator- without it, a squad would easily fall apart. So even if her unfailing realism and lack of tact earn her derision, it is undeniable that with somebody as steady and unphased as Yua in the position of captain, her division stays glued together.

𝑌𝑢𝑔𝑎𝑜 𝐹𝑢𝑗𝑖𝑛, when sealed, is a simple katana that is strapped across her back, though the size wouldn't suggest a need to holster it this way. Her grip is longer in this state, seven inches including the guard. It is decorated with a white tsukamaki that she wrapped on her own. The print on it can easily be mistaken for blood spattering she hasn't expunged, but in truth, it is actually decorated intentionally with Red Spider Lily flowers. The blade length is approximately 26 inches while sealed and resembles the standard-issue asauchi given to new Shinigami when entering into Shin'o Academy.
By calling the name of her Zanpakuto, Yua seems to be able to release her Shikai without trouble. The incantation is a formality at this point that neither she nor the spirit of her sword seems to care for. Compared to most, the Shinigami and Zanpakuto have forged a strong relationship built upon the foundation of an innate understanding that can only be achieved when two souls have a genuine connection. This isn't exactly "astonishing," given Zanpakuto tend to reflect the souls of their wielders, despite being autonomous to a degree. Yua needs only to call for Yūgao and she will respond, sensing her distress and revealing herself.
