  1. Pokemon Stadium Money Shot Skip FAQ
  2.
  3. Q: What is this?
  4.
  5. A: Money Shot Skip is a type of cutscene skip that allows us to reset the console after the game saves and thus not be forced to view the cutscene that plays after which shows off the Pokemon 3D models and cup
  6.
  7. Q: How much time does it save?
  8.
  9. A: For Gym Leader Castle this skip saves no time. I tried to see if a variation of this forced save could allow us to skip battles, but at the moment, does not seem doable
  10.
  11. For Complete Round 1 this saves a little more than 2 and a half minutes (2:32-ish) on USA console (2:21-ish for USA Emulator and 2:55-ish for PAL) because we can skip the GLC cutscene then all of the last cups cutscene in Stadium mode and the cutscene of the overworld getting dark and Mewtwo appearing
  12.
  13. For Complete the Game, it saves about 5 minutes. I have not tested whether or not you can skip the credits this way, but that will be tested soon (as it can possibly save another few minutes)
  14.
  15. Q: How does this work?
  16.
  17. A: The game saves at a certain point after you beat a gym or a mode to signify to the game that you have defeated the trainers and have "Cleared" the battles. This skip simply exploits the timing of it's forced save so that we can reset the game after knowing it's saved our progress so we don't have to watch the cutscene that plays after (which shows off what Pokemon you used)
  18.
  19. Q: Why was this found now and not earlier?
  20.
  21. A: It seemed that it was assumed the game saved after it made a "Ding" sound when the Trophy landed for the Cups or after you got your Pokemon Present after Gym Leader Castle. However, I realized that the cutscenes that play after these modes take a really long time to play out their Pomp and Circumstance so I tested resetting after modes on emulator via save states and found out that the game saves much sooner than what was originally assumed, and thus this was found
  22.
  23. Q: When do you reset?
  24.
  25. A: For Gym Leader Castle: When "Final Battle CLEAR" appears you are safe to reset the game. It does not have to lock in place, so as long as the box or letters have appeared on the left or the right respectively, you can reset
  26.
  27. For the Cups: This can only be done when the game is going to play it's Money Shot cutscene of the Pokemon and the trophy (Petit Cup, Poke Cup Master Ball, Pika Cup, and Prime Cup Master Ball) and it's safe to reset when the screen lightens when it's about to show the Pokemon you used
  28.
  29. Q: What is this called?
  30.
  31. A: I have dubbed it the "Money Shot Skip". And it is a type of skip is a "Cutscene Skip" for other names that were suggested did not fully make sense
  32.
  33. "Cup Cutscene Skip" doesn't work because it's also for GLC and Mewtwo
  34. "Pokemon Cutscene Skip" doesn't really work either as for the Cups it also shows the trophy and you cannot advance until it lands
  35.
  36. "Money Shot Skip" works because no matter what, you're skipping the game showing you nice angles (effectively money shots) of the Pokemon and/or Trophies
