  1. Overview
  2. ########
  3.
  4. Braviary is a fearsome but underrated pokemon. Just like Bisharp, it's ability Defiant is what makes him worth using, the ability to keep Intimidate users at bay is wonderful when you are paired with something like Scizor or Garchomp; futhermore, 123 Atk is nothing to play around with or without +1. With Choice Band he literally OHKOes 4/5 of the offensive benchmarks, the rest takes 70%-80%. It also has the ability to setup Tailwind futhermore increasing it's utility.
  5. Sadly, Braviary is weak to really common attack types: Ice, Electric and Rock. Kyurem-B, Terrkakion and Thunudurus can naturally outspeed and threaten Braviary with STAB super effective hits, and they aren't the only ones; futhermore, because of his low speed he can be easily revenge killed by scarfers or faster things, while also being really weak to priority and lacking some of it's own.

  7. Bulky Tailwind
  8. ########
  9. name: Bulky Tailwind
  10. move 1: Brave Bird
  11. move 2: Return / Superpower
  12. move 3: Tailwind
  13. move 4: Protect
  14. ability: Defiant
  15. item: Sitrus
  16. evs: 188 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Spe / 12 Def
  17. nature: Adamant
  18.
  19. Moves
  20. ========
  21.
  22. Brave Bird is insanely strong, is what you're going to use 90% of the time, 120 BP is nothing to play with, and with STAB it makes it even better.
  23. Return is basically for fnishing things, it will do tons of damage to anything, but the extra power from BB is more appreciated, the only time you'll be using Return is when something that resist BB comes in, so you can replace it for Superpower if you have enough coverage vs Electric types.
  24. Tailwind is the star of this set, by doubling his speed, Braviary will be able to outspeed and kill most things except for Rock types, and not only that, it also increases it's partner speed, making it even better.
  25. Protect is mostly used for scouting, but it can be used to stall Trick Room or rain etc.

  30. EVs are simple, 188 HP increases its bulk to such high levels that he can survive a Stone Edge coming from 252 Adamant Lando-T and also makes it so he can properly heal with Sitrus, 252+ Atk makes his 123 Atk skyrocket to 374, and if you get at +1 and TWind you are guranteed to do some damage, 56 Spe makes it so you outspeed 4 Spe Rotom-W which is useful since you do 60% damage to one with Return, thus killing a weakened one. Sitrus makes it last longer so he can kill more things and setup more TWinds. 12 Def are there so we can take Rock Slides better.

  32. Usage Tips
  33. ========
  34.
  35. Braviary's main job is to stup Tailwind and kill things afterwards, switching should be avoided when you can OHKO something on the field. If the opponent has a lot of offensive pressure against you, it can be wise to sacrifice Braviary. if an attack doesnt kill, the most wise thing is to either Protect or Switch out, attacking twice isnt recomendable because Braviary is really prone to revenge killing.
  36.
  37. Team Options
  38. ========
  39.
  40. Braviary really likes anything with a strong priority, Breelom and Scizor fit well here, since they benefit from Tailwind. Talonflame can be used too, but wont make much use from TWind. Braviary also hates status, so something that can kill status users like Rotom-W and Thundurus or setup Safeguard works great, Cress can setup Safeguard and give Helping Hand support, while Kyurem-B can easily deal with Thundurus and Rotom-W, but be wary, Kyurem-B will probably get a paralyzis when dealing with Thundurus. Anything that's fast also helps, like Skymin or Scarf Garchomp.

  43. Choiced Band
  44. ########
  45. name: Choice Band
  46. move 1: Brave Bird
  47. move 2: Return
  48. move 3: Superpower
  49. move 4: U-Turn
  50. ability: Defiant
  51. item: Choice Band
  52. evs: 252 Atk / 176 Spe / 80 HP
  53. nature: Adamant
  54.
  55. Moves
  56. ========
  57.
  58. Brave Bird is your best option when killing things, unless it's resisted or you cant take any recoil damage, then you should use one of your other options, at 120 BP + STAB you'll be doing tons of damage to anything not named Rotom-W, Thundurus, Hetran and Tyranitar.
  59. Return is your second STAB and your best option to hit Electric types like Rotom-W and Thundurus, it is also good for when you cant take any recoil damage Ilike with 10% HP or something)
  60. Superpower is for coverage against things like Bisharp and Tyranitar, which resist both STAB, there isnt much use to it besides that, since you will get your attack lowered, and we dont want that do we.
  61. U-Turn is mainly for grabbing momentum and have something to hit cress with, just like Lando-T, the idea is to come in, lure an attack, do tons of damage, then leave.
  62.
  63. Set Details
  64. ========
  65.
  66. EVs are simple, 252+ Atk is for maximum power, 252+ with Band allows you to OHKO most of the Offensive Benchmarks (PROOF: http://pastebin.com/i4tL7eyn) and do tons of damage to anything. 176 Spe EVs outspeed Max speed adamant Breelom and Bisharp, but be wary that most run max speed. The rest was dumped into HP for more bulk.
  67.
  68. Usage Tips
  69. ========
  70.
  71. If you have any form of speed control in your team, you want to get it up as quick as possible, it will make it much easier for braviary to sweep. Be wary of Disable + Perish Trap, it will completely ruin Braviary and render him useless.
  72.
  73. Team Options
  74. ========
  75.
  76. This set absolutely HATES status, so Safeguard or things that can kill most status users are good partners, Cress can setup Safeguard and Kyurem-B can kill most status users. This set also LOVES Follow Me/Rage Powder support, Amoongus and Togekiss are the best options here, Amoongus gets Spore which is always a threat while Togekiss has more offensive presence and can setup Tailwind. This set also appreciates any sort of priority on it's side, so Scizor, Azumarill etc. are all good options.
  77.
  78.
  79. Other Options
  80. ########
  81.
  82. You can run TR Braviary, just remove all speed EVs, use Brave and get 0IVs on speed, another option is Bulk Up instead of Protect in Bulky Twind, the scouting capability of Protect is better, but the extra power and bulk from Bulk Up is also really appreciated.
  83. A scarfed set with Sky Drop is also viable, but without the extra power from band Braviary wont be killing that many things, so a scarfed set must be used mostly for revenge killing or neutralizing stuff for a turn with Sky Drop.
  84. Braviary also gets some Shadow Claw and Rock Slide, which can be used instead of Superpower if you have enough coverage vs Rock and Steel types.
  85.
  86.
  87. Checks & Counters
  88. ########
  89.
  90. **Offensive Typing Advantage**: Max Def Politoed and Suicune can come in on any attack and either try to get a burn with Scald or do heavy damage with Ice Beam. Rock/Electric Types can come in on STAB moves (Electrics cant come in on Return tho) and do heavy damage afterwards with their respective STABs, notable mentions are Thundurus, Rotom-W, Terrakion, Tyranitar, Zapdos and Rotom-H.
  91.
  92. **Speed**: Braviary is really slow, and when outside of TWind it is very prone to being killed by anything faster, notable mentions are Genesect, Kyurem-B, Talonflame, Thundurus, Keldeo and Mamoswine.
  93.
  94. **Status**: Any sort of status really hurts Braviary, Thundurus and Rotom-W can take a BB and Twave/WoW it, making him offensively useless for the rest of the match.
