- The second war against the Cylons is over, and The Twelve Colonies have been destroyed. Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony, Earth. However, the dangers they face are many, which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to the Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space and their infiltrator units carrying out sabotage--even as their former unwitting pawn, Gaius Baltar, helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought--the fleet also faces internal political conflict in which the rabble-rousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice, not to mention recurring shortages of food, water, and even oxygen. In the midst of these trials, however, clues begin to appear to suggest that Adama's bluff about finding Earth might hold more truth than anyone could have guessed.

- I'll be the first to admit I'm no die-hard fan of Science fiction, so when I sat down to watch BSG with my fiancé, I was less than thrilled and not expecting much by way of entertainment. I was wrong and I can't say how glad I am to have given it a chance. BSG has proved itself to be an excellent epic, arching story that draws you in almost immediately.<br/><br/>If you are expecting a Star Wars or Star Trek knockoff, you'll either be disappointed or pleasantly surprised. The characters are believable to the point where you actually forget you're watching a TV show. Even though you might disagree with or even come to resent some of their actions and decisions throughout the story, you can identify with what they're going through every step of the way. BSG offers something that most other forms of science fiction lack: heart and humanity. It isn't a bunch of alien species flying on a space ship. They are human and their own sense of right and wrong is often challenged on this show, which gives it a very unique edge.<br/><br/>Also this show has an almost anime-ish quality in the fact that it not only portrays the hopes and dreams of the human military; it also helps you to identify with their enemies: the Cylons. This makes the impact of BSG that much more intense. Each episode is fast-paced and gripping, never lacking in adventure and action. Also, the use of proper space physics in the flight scenes is worth an honorable mention. This is a show that pays great attention to detail and not only does it entertain you; it will really make you think. Trying to guess what's coming is only one part of the excitement. I recommend this highly to anyone and not just science fiction buffs. It has everything from epic battles and high tech machinery to romance and quite touching moments.
- I've recently bought season 1 and 2 on DVD and my opinion is that the show is well made, has good story lines etc.. When I put one episode on I mostlikly end up seeing the whole DVD. My eyes kept focused on the screen like my life depended on it, the show is so intense. I've never seen the original so I can't compare but what I can say is that this show is worth watching.<br/><br/>There are some people saying that the actors don't do a very good job, I have to disagree, sure they are not all fantastic actors. Some say the way it is filmed is horrible, you just need some time to get used to it.<br/><br/>I recommend you all to give this show a chance
- Yes, although it's producers call it a "reimagined" series, due to some slight differences. A battlestar is a very lage spaceship, kind of a cross between a battleship and an aircraft carrier. Cylons are humanoid robots created by mankind as servants and laborers. Eventually, they rebelled and declared war on their human masters. Miniseries - This 3 hour miniseries acts as a pilot for the weekly series and introduces the characters and situations.<br/><br/>Season 1 - Contains 13 episodes.<br/><br/>Season 2 - Contains 20 episodes.<br/><br/>Season 3 - Contains 20 episodes.<br/><br/>Battlestar Galactica: Razor - This 2 hour TV movie ( officially the first two episodes of Season 4 ) takes place during Season 2, with flashbacks to the miniseries and earlier, but should be viewed here.<br/><br/>Season 4, Part 1 - Contains 10 episodes ( also known as "Season 4.0" on DVD ).<br/><br/>Season 4, Part 2 - Contains 10 episodes ( also titled "Season 4.5" or "The Final Season" on DVD )<br/><br/>Battlestar Galactica : The Plan - This is a post-series prequel TV movie which depicted selected events of the miniseries and series from the Cylons point of view.<br/><br/>There are also two spin-off prequels:<br/><br/>Caprica - A 19 episode prequel series set 58 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica.
