  1. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:06:06 AM): Hi XXXXX, my name is Ginalyn. Thank you for chatting with me. Please allow me a moment to review your comments.
  2. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:07:53 AM): When you import goods into Australia, a 10% goods and services tax (GST) is charged by Australian customs. In the past, Australian customs has collected GST on goods and services valued over 1,000 AUD, and as of 1 July 2018, GST will also be charged on shipments equal or less than 1,000 AUD.

  5. Me (7/22/2018, 11:08:53 AM): That's incorrect. Australian customs don't collect GST if value is less than $1000, even after 1st July changes
  6. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:09:15 AM): My apologies but you may visit this link https://www.myus.com/faq/#/faq/country-specific-questions/how-is-au-gst-calculated-and-charged
  7. Me (7/22/2018, 11:09:56 AM): So I'm not convinced myus is doing the right thing with the recent GST changes. And believe you're using it to pocket an extra 10% for low value items
  8. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:10:58 AM): Please be advised that MYUS do not apply duties and taxes to your shipment
  9. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:11:19 AM): For more clarification you may contact your local customs office for the most up to date information
  10. Me (7/22/2018, 11:12:23 AM): So if I use myus services, does myus include 10% extra to the shipping I pay?
  11. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:16:44 AM): If you ship an item to Australia and the item value is equal or less than 1,000 AUD., then MYUS will collect GST for this shipment
  12. Me (7/22/2018, 11:17:18 AM): You just said above myus doesn't apply taxes to my shipment
  13. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:18:44 AM): MYUS will collect 10% goods and services tax (GST) for a shipment that has equal or less than 1,000 AUD.
  14. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:19:03 AM): For more clarification, you may visit the link
  15. Me (7/22/2018, 11:19:42 AM): In that case, how does the Australian government receive this tax that you collect?
  16. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:21:08 AM): This was mandated by Australian customs
  17. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:21:26 AM): Please also this link https://www.ato.gov.au/Business/GST/
  18. Me (7/22/2018, 11:21:51 AM): I already know our Australian tax system
  19. Me (7/22/2018, 11:23:26 AM): When you can't answer how myus passes the extra 10% fee to our Australian government, it suggests myus is being dishonest and using the recent GST change as a means to charge extra 10% and pocket it, without passing it to the Australian government
  20. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:25:13 AM): I'm sorry if that what's you think
  21. Me (7/22/2018, 11:25:51 AM): I also have an ABN, do you know what that is and how it affects the recent 10% GST change?
  22. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:27:33 AM): Please be advised that shipping a package to your country, there may be additional import fees or duty for merchandise shipments coming into your country. In this case, Australian just updated us the starting om July 01, 2018 they are starting to charge GST for all shipment going inside to Australia
  23. Me (7/22/2018, 11:28:25 AM): Those that have an ABN are exempt from the extra 10% GST charge. So where do I enter my ABN in myus account?
  24. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:29:15 AM): I was able to confirm some information regarding the Australia GST collection from our Trade Compliance Team.
  25. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:29:17 AM): As a re-deliverer, we will not charge GST on low value imported goods under the new law, if our customer is a business who provides their Australian business number (ABN) and states that they are GST registered. Since your ABN is not GST exempt, the Goods and Services Tax will be charged.
  26. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:29:27 AM): You can find additional information regarding this at the link below:

  28. Me (7/22/2018, 11:30:37 AM): Your trade compliance team doesn't understand our tax system or recent GST changes
  29. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:31:58 AM): I'm sorry if that's what you feel but you may contact your local customs to inquire about this
  30. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:32:30 AM): Is there anything else that I can assist you with today?
  31. Me (7/22/2018, 11:32:53 AM): Ive already contacted them and confirmed as a holder of ABN, I am exempt from the low value GST charge
  32. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:33:21 AM): May I know if how did you contact your local customs?
  33. Me (7/22/2018, 11:33:48 AM): And how do you come to the conclusion that my ABN is not exempt? I haven't even given you my ABN number
  34. Me (7/22/2018, 11:34:06 AM): I contacted our customs via phone
  35. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:35:20 AM): You may visit the link I provided to your above
  36. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:35:58 AM): I have provided an explanation in my own way.
  37. Me (7/22/2018, 11:36:05 AM): Your statement above regarding ABN exemption doesn't make sense
  38. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:36:26 AM): For more queries, you may provide all the links that I have provided to your earlier to your local customs to confirm about this
  39. Me (7/22/2018, 11:36:51 AM): My ABN is GST registered and therefore exempt from the charge
  40. Me (7/22/2018, 11:37:58 AM): There are other us shipping forwarders who are actually charging and following the Australian GST laws correctly, by allowing registration of ABN but you don't.
  41. Me (7/22/2018, 11:38:35 AM): Hence why I believe myus are being dishonest and telling lies to its Australian customers
  42. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:39:45 AM): You can enter your ABN in your shipping preferences. The system will check in real time to confirm if the ABN is exempt. You will also have the opportunity to provide this when submitting a ship request as well, but I would advise updating it through your Account Settings to address any potential issues before you are ready to submit a ship request.
  43. Me (7/22/2018, 11:40:42 AM): I checked the my account settings and there's no place to enter my ABN
  44. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:43:27 AM): May I please have your ABN
  45. Me (7/22/2018, 11:45:16 AM): XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  46. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:46:09 AM): Thank you
  47. Me (7/22/2018, 11:46:38 AM): Are you entering that into my account?
  48. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:46:40 AM): No
  49. Ginalyn (7/22/2018, 11:46:59 AM): I will have this escalated to our Trade Compliance Team for further verification and validation. You will be notified through your email within 24 hours.
  50. Me (7/22/2018, 11:47:08 AM): Ok thanks
