Interview with Tabitha Carson for CCPD

[11:11] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): good morning SGT, thank you
[11:11] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): Please have a seat in the blue chair. while i look for your app.
[11:11] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): (google being a pain today)
[11:12] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): (just today?)
[11:12] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i'm glad the blue chair was not behind the bars!
[11:12] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): (( lol good point ))
[11:15] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): Ok while they resolve the App issue. What Qualifications do you have.
[11:15] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose) coughs to clear her throat "well, i'm a licensed private investigator......"
[11:16] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): but i have never been a civil servant before
[11:16] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): so I would asume you have basic firearms training?
[11:17] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose) tries to keep a straight face "i can point and shoot...... as long as i don't chew gum at the same time"
[11:18] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" While looking over the App.( that is lost in the google mud pit).
[11:18] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i got pretty good at the aiming part, when i used my husband's underwear for target practice.....
[11:18] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i was kind of sore at him at the time
[11:19] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): Tell me about your self and why do you want to be a cop here in Cedar Creek?
[11:20] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): my husband and i moved here recently, and i believe in being part of the community, and becoming involved. in a previous life (an alt) we were both part of the SL coast guard. so i took a liking to the life and the uniforms!
[11:21] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): I Served 3 years in the navy as a Marine, and My Brother was a Navy Doctor. So I can Respect that.
[11:23] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): (if you find my application, you'll see i have absolutely no rl police experience!)
[11:24] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): although i have never been a member of the police force, i am a very fast learner, sassy, disciplined (most of the time) and have good ideas!
[11:25] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): ( ok well the app link seems to be a dead end.) Thats ok
[11:25] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): (ask and i will answer!)

[11:26] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): what does Community Policing me to you?
[11:27] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose) thinks for a moment "mainly, i would think traffic enforcement, maybe some quarrels between neighbors..... who knows, a domestic violence? or perhaps drugs....."
[11:28] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): but also, i think teaching the community about ways to stay safe, or about the rules in place
[11:31] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Do you feel that Police should be a more community involved. IE Talking with Citizens and interacting with the Community.
[11:32] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): yes, i do. especially because it's a good way to know who is who, who lives where, and..... perhaps what they may be up to
[11:35] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods" Your supervisor gives you a direct order that you know is against department policy. What do you do? What if the order was against the law?
[11:37] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): well, even my supervisor has a supervisor. i would talk to their supervisor. perhaps there is a good reason why he wants it done? as for it being against the law...... again, maybe a talk would make things clear as to why he wants it done. but i would not blindly obey him
[11:38] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods' how many hours could you put in. a week? (just a ball park)
[11:39] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i could do mainly the weekends, until about 3 pm slt, and during the week pretty much the same. i
[11:39] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i am very open!
[11:40] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): ok
[11:40] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): Give us an example of a situation when you had to deal with someone who you perceived was being unreasonable, irate or hostile toward you.
[11:40] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): as a cop how would you resolve that situation?
[11:42] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): it is not unusual to encounter people who are hostile to private  investigators, so i imagine it's the same with law enforcement officers. first, if a "let's calm down here and take a step back, and a deep breath" doesn't work.....
[11:42] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): i would start by talking, explaining why i am doing what i am doing, like a traffic stop, or a search, explain that it is my job
[11:42] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): if that doesn't work, then.... well, they can be asked to step away, and go talk to my supervisor!
[11:43] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): "nods"
[11:47] David J. Taylor (smith.pawpad): ok I will post my report and then the Uppers meaning LT. Chief and Sgt. will look over it. they might call you back for a second Interview. If hired you will be starting out as a cadet. at which point we will train you and also will be teamed up with either myself or the other Sgt. Evie.
[11:48] Tabitha Carson (adaurarose): that sounds good to me!
