High Seas - Log 06 - Celewell!

Arazana plops down an overly large pop-up book on the table, and opens it up to the bookmarked page, a ship on rolling waves popping up. The salty smell of the sea begins to spread....

We left off with the new crew of the Pyr Gala victorious against an invading crew of pirates! After a short battle, the losers were tied up on deck, as Celewell came into view on the horizon.

Now, as the ship slides smoothly into place in port, tied and secured, our story continues...

Celewell. A good sized town, centered around a large, ornate fountain of a bird man in repose. Only time will tell what happens next...

Catrina quests 'Oh my gosh '

Catrina, "I'm gonna raid that fountain for that Birdman."
Marlia smiles as she leans on the railings, most entertaining trip she's had yet.

The local guards wave to everybody on deck. Friendly. A quick glance around shows that a larger portion of the local populace is of the avian type. All kinds of bird people, big and small.

Marlia quests 'bird is the word :o'
Koda is scurrying to help secure the rigging and sales as the ship docks. "I don't suppose I'll find much here to answer my questions..."

Throk and Scal nod to you on deck, heading down the ramps and over to  what appears to be the local dock authority for dealing with cargo.

Biggs looks like a dog eating peanutbutter as he tries to get dwarf out of his teeth, then stops to wave back at the guards with a cheesy grin.
Marlia quests 'wonder if prisoners count as cargo'
Catrina, "..Well I've reach bird heaven, HOLD ME."
Marlia nods to the two before falling in step behind them to get a look around the dock.

The ropes and sails are quickly pulled and secured in place.

Biggs glances at catrina, shrugs, then holds her over his head like Link finding the master sword.
Marlia quests 'XD'
Catrina dramatically Poses as she swoons over the bird people.

The dock area is a simpler setup than Dawncliff's. Just a long line of piers making parking spots for ships. The town proper lies at the end of the docks.

Koda drops to the dock behind Marlia, and begins following down to the docks. "We shouldn't stray far... yet. There might be cargo we need to onload once the captain and first mate return."

There's just.... feathers and beads EVERYWHERE. Every building, overhang.... all the people, in one way or another.

Biggs gently sets Catrina back down.
Catrina, "Thank you Biggs, I needed that."
Biggs flashes a thumbs up.
Dazzling is the only word to describe Biggs's smile.
Biggs jogs down the ramp and onto the dock with the others.
Marlia blinks alittle in surprise when she hears Koda. Alittle embaressed she nods in agreement. "Sorry was distracted, I always enjoy looking around a new place."

Speak of the devil. Scal heads back towards the ship, stops when he sees you guys. "Well, that's taken care of. The captain and I need to supervise the unloading. Can you bring our... guests to the proper authorities?"

Catrina, "Oh you're shopping the local studs too?"
Arazana quests 'ahahahahahaaha'
Marlia blinks in utter disbelief.
Biggs says 'I'll get the elves! You guys take the loud little one!'
Marlia is about to retort before she hears Scal's instructions. "uh.. oh sure sir."
Koda wrinkles his nose a little as a feather lands on it, and puffs it off of his face, drawing a scarf closer around himself. "I'll... go with Biggs. I don't much like birds..."

Arazana quests 'counterpoint: some spiders eat birds right back'
Arazana quests 'ahaha'
Catrina, "I can fix that!"  Catrina looks for the little loud mouth to use her talent on.
Biggs happily jogs back up the ramp and makes his way to the prisoners.
Marlia returns to the ship to retrieve the little one. "What about the orc?"

The crew of losers is still tied in a circle on the deck of the Pyr Gala, in various states of relief that Biggs has left.
Most of the crew starts to freak out on Bigg's return, trying to ineffectually scoot away.

Catrina thinks carefully (Haha yeah right) and decides to make the captured crew sound like turkeys.

Scal nods to Koda. "You got it. Local guard station's on the far side of the market center."  Sounds like he knows from experience.
The ship erupts with the sounds of terrified gobbling and clucking.

Marlia raises an eyebrow.
Catrina is pleased with herself.
Marlia says 'I.. think they're utterly terrified of you Biggs. They sound terrible.'
Arazana quests 'i'm just imagining Biggs carrying them like... two to a shoulder, easy'
Biggs tests the orc to see how heavy he is.

The orc gobbles something at Biggs in Turkey that is.... probably pretty unkind, given the tone.
Easy to lift, if bulky, though.

Biggs says 'Hey! They fished for us first! '
Marlia quests 'Translated %&*$%&*$%!'
Arazana quests 'eeeeeyup'
Koda follows Biggs back on deck, gathering up some of the rope leads that restrain the smaller pirate crew, tugging them to their feet. "Time to step ashore."
Marlia nods to Biggs.
Catrina quests 'to be fair, Turkeys are the biker gangs of the bird world'
Biggs tosses the ork over one shoulder like a sack of flour, then tucks both elves under one arm like they were bundles of firewood.
Marlia offers a firm but gentle shove in their backs once they stand, ushering them along. "sooner you follow us, the sooner the big one leaves."
Catrina, "Likewise, the slower you leave the sooner you're pirate pot pie."

As you lead (or carry) your captives off the ship and along the docks.... a little faster with that motivation in mind.... the town center with the giant statue comes into view.

Koda remains closeby to Biggs, practically a rag-swathed shadow.
Catrina just keeps grinning that shit eating grin of hers.

A chubby little man with a long nose and beady eyes tries to puts a lei of feathers and beads on each of you. Marlia gets one, Catrina gets one.... Biggs, he has to toss it up to your head level, and Koda... he hands you one, glancing

at you curiously, though smiling pleasantly. "Welcome to Celewell! You're just in time for the start of the Festival today!"

Biggs blinks in utter disbelief.
Koda skitters along, looking at the lei suspiciously.
Biggs grins evilly.
Catrina, "Will there be Mayhem at this festival by anychance?"
Biggs turns around so the orc and elves are facing the old man. "Can they get necklaces too!?"
Marlia perks up from bandit shoving at the prospect of a festivel, she keeps prodding the prisoners along as she asks. "which festival?"
Arazana says ' There's dancing, and partying, and, errr, things do sometimes get a little out of hand. But in a good way! It's good for the town to let it all out for a few days.'
Koda prods Biggs in the hide. "I think they're unlikely to participate in the festival since they'll be in the lockup..."
Marlia quests '"the moshpits get a little rough, but the ball pit is always fun!"'
Arazana says ' Ah, the Festival of the Air, celebrating our most wonderful patron, Nizotl! He who graces the world with his winds!'
Catrina gets a hideous toothy grin on her face.

The exhuberant little man looks closer at your group. "Ah, troublermakers, then? Looking for the local lockup? It's right over there, my friends!
He points across the way, to a large stone building on the far side of the fountain center area.

Biggs blinks at Koda in confusion but follows anyways. "Soooo...it's a land thing...where they don't get to...do...festival...stuff? That sounds...dumb."

The jail, apparently, sits next door to another branch of the Adventurer's Guild, denoted as such by a sign in front.

Marlia says 'It's part of their punishment for trying to attack us.'
Koda snorts lightly and tosses his lei over one of the pirates' necks, pausing to look into the water of the fountain as they pass. "Yeah... attacking meant they lost their festival privileges."
Catrina, "Oh no Biggs, not dumb, they're FUN."
Marlia gives a slightly harder shove to put the criminals in the jail at "us"

The fountain's bottom is filled with a myriad of shiny coins, gold, silver, and an uncountable number of bronze pieces.

Biggs says 'Oh! Yeah! I guess that makes sense!'
Catrina, "So tell me, you guys have a midget dragon living in the fountain or something?"

A trio of guards looks over your way from the front of the jailhouse, then approach. "Greetings, citizens. Is there an issue with these tied up captives?"
Looks like a human, an elf, and a dwarf. Thankfully not bird people, at least.

Marlia says 'Yes. They're not in your jail. They're pirates and we were told to give them to you.'
Catrina, "Oh no unless you consider piracy not a big worry or high sea murder then no, really not a problem.:
Biggs tosses the ork to the guards, followed by the eklves.

The guard says ' Ah, right this way, and we'll rectify that.'

Arazana quests 'oh wow, those are terrible rolls XD'
Koda scratches his cheek, stepping around Biggs' side and nodding. "Think they meant to hijack our ship too."
Koda quests 'annnnnd biggs knocks them out with throwing the orc'
Marlia quests 'turns out; piracy is totally legal, and it's illegal for us to capture them. they then lock us up'

The orc lands on the three, knocking them over like pins. The elves land on top of -that- pile, squirming.

Arazana quests 'guarding is now illegal, they have to lock THEMSELVES up'
Koda looks up at Biggs. "...Maybe you should warn people when they need to catch something."
Marlia stiffles a snort of laughter as she waits for the guards to organize themselves.
Biggs says '...They're not "That" heavy...'

... It takes a minute, but the three guards manage to wiggle out from tthe pile, stand up, and get the tied-up pirates to their feet.
The guards look at you. "A-hem, right. You stated that these persons attacked you on your voyage here, yes? And this attack was unprovoked?"

Arazana quests 'biggs.... you giant squishy doof. XD'
Catrina, "Yes unprovocked unless you're suggested our ship looked skimpy."
Marlia says 'yes... the orc had a particulary ugly hat if that gives you any idea who they are.'
Koda says 'They rolled in inside a magic storm for cover... The big one seemed like the leader.'
Biggs opens his mouth to speak, but then just watches every one else explain and nods along with what they say instead.

The elf looks at each of you for a moment. "...They're all telling the truth. No deception.". "...An orc.... ugly hat.... came out of a storm, Catrina says? Well well, looks like you lot may have sorted out our troubles with the Foggy

Bandit here, then! Come on, there's a bounty on their crew. Looks like it's rightfully yours." He gestures, leading you towards the jail and being a lot less kind about pushing the orc and his cronies in front of him.

Arazana quests 'damn line limits, i always forget'
Marlia quests '"are you sure they were pirates?" "ugly hat" "it was them!"'
Arazana quests 'it was REALLY ugly, officer'
Koda seems only too happy to get off of the bird-filled street.
Catrina quests 'the most hideously colored thing too'
Catrina quests 'clashing eye shearing orange was the worst of it all'

The jail's clean stonework continues inside. There's a large desk in front, with a board of WANTED posters pinned behind it.

Catrina looks at the wanted posters for laughs.
Biggs says '...Wait...You'll give us stuff for each one we bring you?'
Marlia pats Biggs on his back.
Marlia says 'that's the basics of bandit hunting.'

Arazana says ' "... If you're able to capture them and bring them back, or, failing that, bring back definitive proof of them being dead, then yes, those bounties will be yours...... Speaking of.'

Koda says 'Only folks who have posters like that though.'
Koda jabs a thumb towards the wall.
Marlia nods.
Biggs says 'Ok, hang on. I think we got one more!'
Marlia quests '.... oh no'
Biggs just turns to the side and barfs.
There's a bunch of posters still up. Scowling humans, smirking dwarves, smug elves, and a fair number of animalfolk all have mugshots on there.
Koda skims over the wall, looking for any spider-related content.
Koda quests 'OH MY GOD LMAO'
Catrina, "Biggs no vomiting the dwarf on the floor, its rude."
Marlia jumps back. "BIGGS!"
Koda POINTEDLY does not look at the sound of Biggs vomiting up his last meal, though what of his face is seen between scarf, hood and hair is. very clearly looking a bit green.

A gross, lumpy.... thing in sort-of melty armor splashes onto the floor. Uh.

Biggs says 'WHAT!? '
Marlia just... can't... why!?
Catrina, "Landdwellers don't like barfed up corpses, it weirds them out and they can't eat it."
Biggs sorts through the pile for any armor that's still identifiable.
Marlia just turns around to avoid looking at the mess. She can't even begin to deal with this.

The attention of every single guard is now on Biggs, and they're pretty much all disgusted. "....Um. Is..... that..... another one of their crew, if I heard you correctly?"

Koda mumbles directly at the wall, "Might need to hire a cleaner..."
Marlia says 'ugh... yes'
Catrina, "Don't you mean the coroner?"
Biggs says 'Yeah, he was a little one? With hair on his face? He had this metal shell on, kind of like a hermit crab? I don't think he could swim in it though...'

There's two posters in the corner that seem spider-ish. One of a bulky human, labelled "Arachnomage (self-titled)" Wanted: disturbing the peace, spying, petty thievery.

Catrina, "....Okay next stop hosipital to make sure Biggs doesn't have metal poisoning of any kind."
Marlia says 'I'm sure he can just barf out any other problems...'
Biggs says 'Oh come on don't even pretend this is wierd. Barf is the best sea gull bait there is. Everybody does it.'
Marlia says 'I don't want to know who everyone is... you said there was a bounty?'
Catrina, "No not really, I eat only eyeballs, teeth, and the occassional finger and or toe nails."

The other, of a sketch of a large, angular face with a set of six visible, globule-like eyes visible, and some kind of mandibles or something. "Name: ????   Wanted: Livestock theft, assault, littering, unpaid tickets"

Koda shudders a little, still facing the wall, refusing to turn to look at uh.... Biggs' leftovers. "More birds..."
Biggs daintily hold up a piece, of armor to compare to the posters.
Koda startles ever so slightly at the unnamed spiderman. That could be a problem for him... But the other...
Koda says 'What does an arachnomancer do?'

The guard veeeeery carefully steps around the mess, goes to the dest behind it, and comes back with a series of small pouches. "I'll.... take your word for it on that.... dwarf? Is this split between you four?"

Catrina quests 'I just love the fact Biggs daintly holds up a partially melted piece of armor withsome digested gook of dwarf in it'
Arazana quests 'god you have made some poor janitor's night so, so bad XD'
Arazana quests 'god i love it'
Marlia doesn't turn to look at the mess but offers a hand to take one of the pouches. "yeah..."
Catrina, "I dunno, controls spiders to do their bidding I guess?
Biggs grins and tosses the armor back...with the rest of it.

The guard says ' As your reward on the bounties of the Foggy Bandit and his crew, you've each earned a round 100 gold pieces.'
He hands over the four pouches, each jangling and heavy with coin.

Arazana quests 'eh'
Arazana quests 'fix that later.'
Biggs immediately opens his pouch and peeks inside.
Catrina accepts, "Excellent.."
Marlia says 'Thank you sirs... sorry for the floor.. I'm gonna step out for some fresh air.'

The guard looks over to Koda after a moment. "Oh, him? Calls himself that. Lives just outside of town. Does.... something with spiders, we're still not sure exactly what. But you can't miss the place, if you're looking. Webs all over

the place."

Marlia quickly turns to leave the room and the smell... before walking next door to the adventurers guild. "Ugh... might as well check in while i'm here."
Catrina quests 'He makes them do the dread Charleston Shuffle'
Marlia quests 'plays the spider web like a harp. hosts his own concerts'

The guard nods. "If that's it, then I wish you a good Festival! Do enjoy your stay while we take care of these guys and.... that one."

Koda scratches at his cheek, and turns, trying to not pay attention to Biggs' deposit. "Suppose I'll find out why no one's claimed his bounty yet, then."
Catrina quests 'Makes them do the Marcarena'
Arazana quests 'the electric slide..... on their webs'
Koda quests ''that guy is wanted theres a reward. oh yeah he lives just down the street' cops.............'
Biggs says 'Oh. It's this stuff.'
Biggs peers intently about the area, looking for thieves no doubt.
Catrina, "I bet he makes the spiders dances heinously outdated fad dances.
Biggs says 'Hey. Wait. we're not staying together!? '
Koda , once outside the guard house, immediately puts a hand to the exterior wall and leans over looking quite sick and panting from nausea. Oh my god gross oh my god gross he almost STEPPED in it.

SWEET SWEET FRESH AIR oh thank god.

Catrina, "You sure you want to hang out with me iBiggs? I mean I gross everyone out with the eyeballs and they're flipping delicious."
Biggs jogs outside and nervously looks for the others. He stays right behind Koda.

The dwarf.... does nothing. The other, still uneaten pirate crew is led through a door behind the desk and out of sight.

Catrina quests 'damn it I got on the Macarena'
Arazana quests 't e c h n i c a l l y  Biggs has eaten eyeballs too'
Arazana quests 'just.... with all the everything else that's there, too'
Biggs peeks back in at Catrina. "Yeah, but they aren't really filling you know? It's just like eating anything else."
Biggs shrugs.

There's a number of people hanging paper lanterns around. A lot of ropes leading to and from rooftop corners to the raised hand of the top of the birdman statue fountain.

Koda straightens, though still trembling a little. He looks to the others. "I'm... going to look for one of the bounties in this town. It shouldn't take long..."
Marlia takes another deep breath of sweet sweet clean air and opens the door to the guild.
Catrina, "But they are..I got some good cow eyeballs in my coat somewhere."
Biggs says 'But...'
Catrina, holds up a jar of cow eyes, "Pickled and Aged in the finest of Brandies."
Biggs nervously holds his hands in front of himself and looks around. "...Is this a land thing? Like...splitting off from the pod seems dangerous. That's how you get eaten."
Catrina, "Eh, Twitchy should be fine."

The most STACKED halfing woman you have ever seen greets you just inside the guild hall. "Hi! Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild!"

Marlia blinks in utter disbelief.
Catrina, "Oh you poor unfortunate soul."
Catrina, "Twitchy I'm coming with you!"
Koda says 'I feel more like I'll be eaten hanging around this many birds all in a flurry... '
Biggs sticks out his tongue at Catrina's jar. "Ew...if you can't eat them fresh what's the point?"
Marlia says 'Um... Hi. I'm Marlia. I just joined the guild in Dawncliff. Thought I'd check in.'
Catrina, "The flavor that's why."
Biggs blinks in utter disbelief.
Koda swallows another breath of air and looks at his palms. Good... good. Nearly throwing up only left his fingers looking knobby and long-nailed, not full on chitinous claws.
Arazana says ' Marlia..... Marlia..... You're the new one from Gorak, then! Come on in, take a load off! Rooms and beds upstairs, and the fightin' pits out back.'
Catrina heads on out to go with Koda, "Hey Twitchy, up for some brandy Cow eyeballs?"
Koda says 'Uh... no thank you... '

She winks at Marlia. "But the gym's right over here, if you like." She gestures offhandedly to a room on the right.

Koda looks a little greener once again.
Marlia nods.
Catrina, "Fine, no one seems to have taste then. Anyways, are you a chameleon or something? You're looking green."
Koda begins to walk towards the edge of town, on the lookout for the arachno-mage. "This... really shouldn't be very interesting for others. I just want to find out what kind of magic an arachnomage knows how to do...."
Marlia walks in, finding a seat for herself. "Thanks, I just brought in some pirates with my crew. The Foggy Bandits?"

The locals are too busy touching up their last minute decorations to pay more than a passing glance.

Biggs takes a deep breath as he suddenly comes to a realization. "OOOoooooh! You're not apex. I can come if you want?"
Catrina, "Twitchy, hun, sweetie? its probably something insanely dumb like making spider silk sweaters."

The halfling woman says ' Took care of them, huh? Good on  you. They been stealing cargo from local ships for like a month now. Hopefully you gave them a good whooping, eh?" She winks at Marlia again. "You certainly look the part."'

Catrina quests 'and Magnus is dead set on getting the tiny replacement squeaker instead of his squeaker snake.'
Arazana quests 'ahahahahahaha '
Marlia quests 'XD'
Marlia chuckles politely.
Koda seems confused by Biggs' use of 'apex', but lets it wash over and past him. He shrugs as he continues to walk in search of the arachnomage, avoiding any groups of the birdlike locals. "If you like... and if that's all he can do,

then this won't take long at all."
Marlia glances around while she relaxes, seeing who else is here besides the stacked short one.
Catrina, "Well yeah, we're more scavenger based than apex."

The first person you ask about this Arachnomage person points you to the far edge of town. The orc seems a little weirded out by the request, though. "Nutter lives up there. Have fun dealing with that mess."
Up the hill just past the town's edge, you can barely make out a couple trees, or bushes.... they're so web-thick they look like cotton balls from here.

Biggs looks nervously from koda and catrina, back to the festival, trying to make up his mind. "MmmmmmmmmI'll come with you then."
Catrina, "Please tell me we're not dealing with a tinfoil hat guy."
Marlia quests 'it'd probably be a web hatted guy... but still'
Catrina quests 'spiders in his hair and ears'
Biggs quests 'he's on the deep web huh?'
Catrina quests 'Biggs XD'

Lingering in the guild hall are a black cat person in blatantly wizardy robes, right down to the pointy hat, a pair of twin slightly-off-humans talking amongst themselves, and an elf splayed out on a far couch, sleeping in full armor.

Koda doesn't even seem phased by the webs everywhere, and just plods on to the house. He seems to have a sort of business-like determination to his stride.
Catrina is not liking the looks of this place as she removes the totem, "Okay, I'm done with this smooshed human face."
Marlia just takes a quick note of the individuals, she'll relax a bit more before she heads out to enjoy the festival.

The halfling looks over to Marlia. "Just in town for the celebration, then?"

Marlia shrugs.
Catrina looks at Koda not really sure if they should disturb a loony cooking a meal.
Marlia says 'However long our captain wants to stay. We came in on the pry Gala.'
Koda snorts, and knocks on the door frame a few times. The sound is deafened by the webs, and a few spiders scurry away from where his fist connects. "Excuse us?"

The man's house is.... really tidy, actually.  Some books, a few dressers and such, but surprisingly open. The smell of..... vegetable soup? wafts through the air.

Biggs tries to gently poke the spiders, but is too slow. "Woah. Land crabs are tiny!"
Marlia quests 'XD'
Catrina, "Yeah...and they make webs."
Arazana quests 'wait, damnit. i think my brain did a thing'
Arazana quests 'ignore the last line'
Koda sighs and takes a step back, bumping against Biggs' stomach as he does. "The townspeople gave directions... Are you the arachnomage?"
Marlia quests 'he did not put his hands in the air, and wave them in air like he just don't care?'
Koda quests 'oh uh woops??'

A hidden viewhole slides open. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"

Catrina quests 'somehow my brain pictures him wrapping his hands around the webs and looking like he made spider cotton candy'
Arazana quests 'nah dude it's all good'
Catrina, "Are you the Great and terrible wizard of spiders?"

You can hear the grin in his voice. "I am! I am the great Arachnomage! And what can I do for you lot? Hmmm?"

Marlia quests 'pay no attention to the spiders... everywhere!'
Catrina points to Koda, "The Twitchy one wants to see you."
Koda sighs and pulls back his hood, not that it reveals much besides a pair of pointy and slightly fuzzy ears. "My name's Koda..."

The stacked woman nods to Marlia. "Well, you don't have to wait too long for the Festival, at least. Starts at sundown. Your captain's a smart guy, he'll make sure he stays in port until it's over. Don't wanna miss the fun, yeah?"

Biggs stays in the back and lets the others do the talking.
Catrina, "Wait you humans can have cute fuzzy pointed ears? NO FAIR."
Koda says 'Not... typically... that's why I'm here...'

The viewport slides closed.... and after a moment, you hear several locks undone, and the door opens wide, webbing be damned.

Marlia says 'that's good, you've seen the festival before? They do any kind of plays or performances?'
Catrina, "Twitchy, you're forbidden to shave your ears."

The man, under his own dark hooded robes, looks pale. Like, lack of sun pale. "So, you have come to me for answers, yes?" He looks you three over, shys away from True Form Catrina. So he has some sense of self preservation, at least.
Catrina, "Yeah I know, I'm too sexy for my own good."
Marlia quests 'XD'

Without waiting for answers, he raises his arms at the three of you. "THEN BEHOLD!" .... and he shoots a freaking STREAM of little black spiders at your group out of each palm.

Catrina, "...SERIOUSLY?"
Marlia quests 'haha... glad I didn't join this'
Catrina, "It better be spider silk sweaters."
Koda stands there unreacting for a split second as a fucking firehose worth of spiders flies directly in his face. Then a heartbeat later he PBBBBBBBTHHHHHHHHs

"Oh yeah! There's a big play that starts when it gets real dark, and when it finishes, the whole damn town starts to party hard. Down on the ground, up in the air, and everywhere in the middle.

Biggs patiently watches the stream of little black land crabs.
Catrina just goes to walk right at the guy, "Look we're not amused by your weird spider hose thing, Twitchy here just wants help."
Marlia says 'That's sounds amazing, I'll definitely want to check that out.'

The stream of spiders stops, but the spiders already on  you three skitter up and down and around, before they all run down your legs and off towards the web-bushes.

Marlia quests 'Marlia is having a nice pleasent conversation. Meanwhile: SPIDERS!'
There's a loud FUCK from the mess of Catrina's hair, followed by some crunching sounds. Sounds like Jerkoff got a free meal out of it, at least.
Catrina quests 'I wonder how many spiders got sick from being on contact from catrina's toxic skin :o'
Catrina, "That's right Jerkoff."

"Yes, yes, come on it, now. I had to make sure none of you were bugged. Don't trust the locals, you know." He heads inside, waves for you all to follow.

Catrina goes to head inside.
Koda pushes full on waves of spiders off his face, and then shakes off a bit like a dog. Pushing up his bangs and spitting out a few other spiders he shouts, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, OLD MAN!?"

A number of the retreating spiders do start to weave unsteadily as they try to get to the bushes. Most.... don't make it.

Koda in his flustered frustration lycanthropises a bit more, his extra eyes clearly visible. As are his now larger fangs, and scruffy fuzzy face... thanks for that.
Biggs says '...'S'better than being inked...I guess?'
Biggs shrugs.
Catrina looks for a seat to take.
Marlia quests 'biggs is not concerned about land crabs'

The man sits down on his bed, facing you three. There's a couple of chairs around, although if that's how he treats guests..... they're probably not used much.

Koda grumpily follows the mage inside, pulling off and shaking out his cloak as a few little spiders who'd taken refuge in the folds drop to the floor.
Catrina quests 'and Catrina caused a portion of spiders to get ill :<'

Catrina takes up a chair, "So, take it you don't get guests much, huh?"
Biggs enters, letting a spider crawl all over his hand, catching it when it tries to get away, etc.

The Arachnomage looks at Catrina, then Biggs, then Koda. "....Don't much care for the feathered folk, no. They scare away my little friends, or eat them. Hrm."

Catrina, "Eh don't worry, I eat eyeballs only."
Marlia quests 'no worries'
Marlia abruptly stands before heading towards the gym. "Think I'll get some exercise before the festival starts."
Catrina points to Biggs, "And he eats dwarves and throws them up."

"No problem! If you need a guide, just ask, and I'll get Sam off that couch and over here to watch the desk."

Koda sighs, pulling his cloak back on. "Listen... uhm... sir. I really only want to know one thing. Do you know anything about transformation hexes? Spells? Curses?" He watches as Biggs plays with his new friend.

Arachnomage says ' An interesting group, I see.'

Catrina, "That we are, now tell me, do you make your spiders dance to horribly outdated dance fads?"

The man thinks for a minute. The door slowly closes behind you, pushed by a large clump of spiders acting in unison.

Catrina quests 'oh no..he's gonna make his spiders do a dance number'
Koda quests 'they are his true companions'
Catrina quests 'they clearly are'
Catrina quests 'and on goes the land before time for Magnus..he's a giant toddler that needs his cartoons'

"Only person I know might be Isabelle. Wonderful woman. We write back and forth, you see. I wanted to know if she could make some of my little friends a little bigger and better.

Catrina, Are we talking dog sized here? Cause if it is, That sounds super freaking cute."
Biggs closely inspects the spider. "...Woahhh...They don't even have claws..."
Koda 's scruffiness seems to be fading a bit as the conversation moves on, the changes reverting as his blood pressure recovers from being spider'd as a hello. "....Where is she?"

Apparently this Guild's branch has sunk most of its monies into its gym, because it is  h u g e and filled with a TON of different machines for working out every kind of muscle group on nearly any kind of body type.

Marlia whistles appreciatively.

"Huh? Oh, she lives just over the hill there." He points out a window. There's a house visible just past the webbed-up trees in his yard. "Never liked coming over here in person though. So strange." He shrugs.

Catrina, "Dude you spray people with spiders, that's why."
Marlia spends a few minutes exploring the gym before settling into a light workout routine. Don't want to get to tired before the festival.

He says ' It's the only way to be sure they're not try to get information on me and my spiders.'

Catrina, "....I'm not even gonna touch that one."

You're joined by a purple-skinned tiefling on a weight bench, with a stretched-looking human to spot them, and a centaur gal in the corner on a treadmill.

Koda sighs, looking out the window, trying to guess how much time before the captain begins to wonder if the new crew abandoned him... "And she's not a bird, right?"
Marlia quests '*flexes* get buffed'
Marlia quests '"bird? no... she looks more like a wasp. A tarantula hawk to be specific."'

Arachnomage says ' She said she could help me out with my spiders. Maybe that's what you're looking for? Some kind of spell to..... sort you out?"'

Catrina quests 'she's a pink toed tarantula and looks like she's ready to go to the ballet'

He says ' Oh, no, no nothing like that.'

Koda says 'Something like that... Anyway... Thank you for your. uhm. Hospitality. ... And for not disliking spiders'

He starts talking to a spider that appears on his palm. "I wouldn't send you over there if she was a mean old bird, no way, no how."

Biggs quests 'peacock spider. Shit's 'bout to get FABULOUS'

The Arachnomage has apparently become engrossed in babytalking with the spider on his hand and has lost focus.

Catrina, "Okay Twitchy, race you to the lady's house then."
Koda excuses himself, holding the door and motioning for Biggs and Catrina to hurry and sneak out before this guy sprays them with more spiders...
Marlia quests 'I get to work out, beat up bad people, and they pay me!? best gig ever!'
Catrina heads right on out.
Koda quests 'only thing better would be free food too'
Biggs lets his spider friend go and follows Koda. His big spider friend.
Koda hurries along over the hill, past the cobwebbed bushes, towards Isabelle's house. "You don't need to follow if you don't want... I doubt she's any more trouble than that guy was..."

Your exit is followed by a clear lack of spiders being sprayed. Isabelle's house is like..... a short walk, tops. Though as you approach her house, it's clear that it's built to someone like Biggs' scale.

Catrina looks eager to get back walking, "So, who wants to bet we get sprayed with Scorpians or cats. Bah We're coming Twitchy, we need some amusement."
Biggs shrugs.
Marlia quests 'Won't lie, i'm expecting you guys to get covered in more arachnids before the day is over'

Koda adjusts rather slower than one would expect to the realization that the home he's approaching isn't actually as far away in perspective as it seemed, it's an optical illusion from the fact that it's BIG.
Koda blinks in utter disbelief.

You three can hear a couple of heavy, quick footsteps, and the door is thrown wide open, revealing a tall minotaur woman in a light dress. "OH! VISITORS! COME ON IN!"

Catrina goes to fish for her gloves to wear as..haha toxic skin.

Koda gazes up at the minotaur, and his shoulders slump. It hardly looks like she'd be the sort to know about things like this... "Uhm. No thanks... Just wanted to ask something, and we'll be on our way..."

Catrina quests 'I bet we can bath in it'

Isabelle's house has a very.... lived-in feel to it. Not messy, but.... good. She's rummaging through a giant cabinet that looks to be filled with a bunch of different tea bags.

Biggs looks around, taking it all in.

Arazana says ' AND WHAT KIND OF TEA WOULD YOU LIKE, SWEETIE? I DIDN'T QUITE HEAR YOU BEFORE.'

Catrina likes it so far, the huge space makes her think of home a bit, "Orange spice please. Can I have a straw?"

Arazana says ' OF COURSE. I KEEP SOME ON HAND FOR WHEN GUESTS COME OVER.'

Marlia having finished up her workout, goes to towel off and refresh herself in preperation to leave.

She pauses, after passing Catrina a teacup the size of a large mixing bowl with a straw in it.

Koda skims her books, but already is feeling a bit doubtful that Isabelle will be any kind of expert in hexes or lycanthropy...

True to standards, the guild's gym has a nice cooldown area for the post-workout adventurers. ...The halfling woman passes Marlia a towel. "Your timing's good. It'll be getting dark soon. Festival starts at sundown, if you wanna be

there to see it kick off."

Marlia says 'Was a good way to past the time.'
Marlia finishes refreshing herself and organizes her hair. Smiling at the halfing she heads for the door. "Alright, I'm off to check out the festival. I'll be back if I need a guide."

Isabelle's bookshelves are varied, but there's a lot of tea books. There are a couple that catch your eye, though. Spellman's Guide to Curses, Hexes, and Unwanted Magical Effects, and Untangling Magic: A Guide"
The halfling grins. "You know where I'll be. Have fun!"

Biggs is served a big teacup of green tea. Mmmm, leaf juice.
Catrina takes care to look about.

Outside the guild, the strung-up lanterns have been lit already, making sure the town center is full of a soft light.

Biggs is just kind of along for the ride, trying whatever Isabelle puts in front of him. "So...it's plant flavored fresh water? That's clever!"

Isabelle's shelves have quite a number of teacups and tea paraphenalia on them. Looks like she brews her own, and probably makes new blends.

Koda quests 'questionnnn since kodas been trying to figure out what it means/is to be a werespider for a long time im going to assume hes read a lot of books about it, especially more common ones, so can we do some kinda roll to see if

Marlia ooo's and aah's as she takes in the sights, she heads towards where she thinks the play will start.
Catrina, "So you make your own tea blends?"

Koda pulls the spell book down, leafing through it, and finds a section he's interested in. He reads it as the other two enjoy their tea experience.

The base of the fountain has a large wooden platform stage set up, with curtains and everything. There's no way that was set up by hand alone. not that fast.

Marlia is pretty sure she found the spot. She looks for a comfortable place to sit and watch the show.

Isabelle smiles as she drains a cup of tea as well. "THANK YOU, THANK YOU. DID YOU COME TO GET ME TO SEE THE FESTIVAL, HMM?"
She makes the most unsubtle wink at Biggs.

Koda sighs, shutting the book and putting it back. "The arachnomage said you might know about something I'm researching... But since I don't know much about it, I think it's the sort of thing I'd be better off finding a specialist

for..."

She smiles sweetly. "THOUGH NOBODY HAS TRIED TO HEX ME, BEFORE."

Marlia quests 'probably not twice atleast.'

Biggs can't put his tea cup down fast enough to answer and just lets the others do the talking.

Isabelle thinks, points as she orients herself. "NORTH, MAYBE A LITTLE EAST. ABOUT A DAY AWAY."

Arazana quests 'i was gonna wrap soon once everybody got to town again anyway'
Catrina, "Is there a transport we can take to get ourselves there fast?"

Isabelle says ' ONE OF THE TOWNSPEOPLE RUNS A FAST FERRY BACK AND FORTH. THAT MIGHT WORK?'

Catrina, "We'll take it."

Isabelle glances out the window. "OH! I CAN SHOW YOU, TOO. IT'S GETTING DARK, TIME TO HEAD DOWN TO THE FOUNTAIN FOR THE CELEBRATION.

Koda shakes his head. "We can't abandon the captain... Or, rather, I can't... not if I mean to get paid..."
Catrina, "Alrighty then, this pans out nicely."
Biggs nods.
Koda blinks and glances at the window. "Oh... so it is.."
Catrina goes to hop off of her chair and is ready to head on out.

Isabelle takes the empty cups and puts them in the sink. She gently shoos you guys to the door, then exits after you, and locks it. "WE SHOULD GET THERE JUST IN TIME."

Catrina, "Excellent, plus we left scale lass behind."

The walk back down to the festivities about to begin takes nearly no time at all.
