  1. During the time before, there was a great race known as the Skyfolk. Created by a benevolent god to spread his message of peace and understanding, they drifted the aeons of space in massive castle-like ships the used to colonize worlds and uplift the locals. Talikihara was one such world, a place filled with beings known as humans. The humans’ nature made them quick to distrust their new neighbors, but after some initial difficulty, they accepted the Skyfolk.

  3. Fast forward 1200 years, a grand empire had been built. Unfortunately, even within the Skyfolk there is the potential for evil. Ka’L Venerath, cousin to the leader of the Skyfolk had fallen to his own lust for power and capriciousness. He began amassing power behind the scenes. In the skies above, Venerath's opportunity appeared. A race of space faring locust-like creatures known as the Nok'Kol appeared ravaging the land. Ka’L exploited these abominations, feeding them information in exchange for learning about their strange adaptive biology. He used their abilities to breed several new creatures, including the duergar, the urask, and the lamia. Meanwhile, the war was going badly. Ka’L and the wizard of the court, Sidonus, suggested creating underground shelters to weather the Nok'Kol's assault.

  5. In a final desperate act, the king of the sky kingdom severed the planet's main leyline, several disrupting the flow of life energy to the planet. With no new nutrients, the Nok'Kol quickly starved and died. The underground shelters grew, and eventually expanded back to the surface, where they developed into independent city states (industrious Mordune, agricultural Arboria, imperious Aru’skar, free Aridia, and explosive Wy’rd). Each city state is centered on a piece of the leyline that hasn't been destroyed. The flow of magic affects the populations and what they can accomplish
