48. Peter Parker (Garfield) is an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
 49. The Amazing Spider-Man follows the origin story of Peter Parker's beginnings as the world-renowned wall-crawler. After being bitten by a radio-active spider, Peter acquires amazing abilities which will help him achieve things one could only dream about. In a life-threatening fight for the city, Peter will strive to protect New York City from the threat of his friend-turned-enemy, Doctor Curt Connors: whom has transformed into The Lizard.
 50. **Spoilers contained**

The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Starring: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans

Synopsis: High school outcast Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) desperately trying to find out the secrets to his parents disappearance from when he was a young boy. After finding his dad's briefcase and searching for his father's former partner Dr Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) at Oscorp. Secrets will be revealed which will ultimately shape Peter's destiny to become Spider-Man.

Review: Marc Webb directs the reboot of the Spider-Man story in which Andrew Garfield brings to the screen a more realistic Peter Parker than what we have seen before. I once heard that the reboot will be more in keeping to the comics and the cartoons of the 1990's and 2000's Spider- Man, I believe that was succeeded as we now get a real world application for Spider-Man rather than the comic book movies of the Sam Raimi trilogy. We see Peter struggle with situation's, with people and in dealing with his new found super-powers, Andrew brings a character that I believe will age better than the previous movies, which already seem like they're a decade old. One problem I had was why he feels the need to keep taking off the mask; a fun drinking game would be a shot every time he does.

Emma Stone brings the love interest to the screen as Gwen Stacey, daughter of the police chief, intellectually gifted student and intern at Oscorp. Rhys Ifans playing Dr Curt Connors, biologist who's working on gene splicing to create a better human race, accidentally turning himself into a giant Lizard that sets out to turn the whole of New York and then the world into humanoid Lizards. During the movie a problem kept occurring with the Lizard, he is a villain with a diabolical plan however and in the comics Curt is a family man who's lost inside the Lizard, I don't feel the movie portrays the Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde side of the character clearly.

With more grounding to this movie, making it feel like the beginning of a trilogy where we'll see a more confident Spider-Man and a lot more truths about what happened to his parents still to come. During the origins of Spider-Man I've seen a lot of complaints online about there being no wrestling sequence and believe it was done well originally and the valiantly side of Peter trying to track down is uncle's killer was a lot more believable of a teenager with an attitude and new found super- human strength. This is Spider-Man to how I know him, Tobey Maguire made a family fun comic-book movie and Andrew Garfield's is more Super-hero movie making the differences, easier to relate to characters and a lot darker than before.

Watch this if you liked: Spider-Man Trilogy, (500) Days of Summer, Batman Begins

Verdict: With a little less of the love story, we'd have had Amazing Spider-Man, we got a very good start to Spider-Man film, looking forward to how the sequels, where hopefully we'll see the Amazing Spider-Man.
 51. Let's see if I can use the adjective in this movie's title until the very end of this review.

Well that movie was just....phenomenal. I really enjoyed this one and to be honest going in, I didn't think I was going to from what I saw from its previews. The story, I felt, was closer to the comics than the other 3 previous movies were, and I barely read them. Andrew Garfield did an excellent job as Peter Parker/Spiderman. I'm still undecided on if he did a better job than Tobey Maguire, but he was about just as good. Emma Stone did awesome as Gwen Stacy and still had me having, and probably many others, the biggest crush for her. The only flaws I kind of had with it was that instead of using the webbers from his own hands like in the comics, this version of Spider-Man had to use these techno-gadget like ones that I'm still confused on how they worked exactly. I also did kind of feel like there would be more fights between the main villain and the protagonist, but I somehow it still fulfilled me. Of course the ending was a cliffhanger, and like the Marvel movies nowadays, there were clues to the upcoming sequel (if there will be one). I'd definitely recommend this movie if you're ready for a new type Spider-Man. Just like I said about going in not having high expectations for this movie, I felt really "amazed" leaving this movie. If I were to rate it, I'd give it a 7.8/10.
 52. The film is also faithful to the smartassery of the Spider-Man of the comics, and Garfield's spindly physicality evokes the Marvel illustrations of the 1960s.
 53. No more than the two already made. It had been stated that there would be four movies, with the planned release dates being 2 May 2014 for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), 10 June 2016 for the third movie, and 4 May 2018 for the fourth. However, as far as the latter two are concerned, this did not pan out (perhaps to unsatisfactory performance or reception of the second movie) and instead the rights/license to the pertinent movie franchise were sold to Sony Pictures who decided to pursue the third reboot of the Spider-Man cinematic franchise. Mary Jane is not the love interest (or one of them) in this film adaption of Spider-Man. Instead the love interest is Gwen Stacy. Gwen was an earlier love interest for Peter Parker, after his failed attempt at a romantic relationship with J. Jonah Jameson's secretary, Betty Brant, and before Mary Jane in the original comics. Rhys Ifans told Ain't It Cool News that the man was not Norman Osborn (Green Goblin), but is a representative from Oscorp and someone the fans are familiar with. The man was later revealed to be Gustav Friers, aka the Gentlemen, who is known to have formed the Sinister Six in the comics. Stan Lee is seen in the library at Peter's high school as The Lizard and Spider-Man are fighting behind him while he is oblivious to the action because he's wearing headphones with the volume turned up. In the comic books, Peter's spider powers he got from the spider bite do not include any ability to shoot webbing like in the earlier series made by Sam Raimi. Instead, Peter invented a special spider web-like adhesive and the wrist guns to fire it which are referred as his web-shooters. That is where the imagery of Spider-Man typically folding his third and middle fingers into his palms with the other fingers are extended comes from; he is pressing down on a trigger extending to the palm of his hand with a double tap which allows him to form a fist without causing an accidental firing. The reason you don't see these in most versions most of the time is that the web-shooters are completely hidden under the costume with only the nozzle being visible. Otherwise, they are fully visible when Spider-Man removes his gloves to deal with technical difficulties with them or to reload. Likewise, Spider-Man in the comics also wears a utility belt which is also completely hidden under his costume. It carries additional web cartridges for reloads, little electronic tracking devices called spider-tracers, his camera, and a special flashlight that projects a light pattern resembling his mask. This element of the character has been the norm for decades in the comics and most of its various other media adaptations. The idea of Peter being able to shoot webbing from his own body (the media referred to this ability as being "biological web shooters") was first developed in a draft of the first Spider-Man movie script by James Cameron; this idea was later used by Sam Raimi in his films because he felt it would make for more sense than a high school student creating a wonder adhesive, despite the fact that Peter is known for his gift of knowledge in science. This film takes the opposite track to show how Peter was a special kid long before he was bitten by the spider in being able to invent such devices. There's a short scene in this film that shows Peter discovering a secret lab at Oscorp where spider webs are being studied for some unnamed research. No. It is of its own fictional reality; e.g., separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (by Marvel Studios), separate from the X-Men cinema (by 20th Century Fox), separate from a number of other movie series/franchises adapted from Marvel Comics titles or based upon characters thereof. a5c7b9f00b
