They were halfway through the day’s ride when the groundquake struck. The trappu Vernestra rode, which looked to her like a skinnier dewback with a wicked beak, reared up suddenly, letting out a hoarse scream. A few seconds later, rocks began to slide down the hill, and the world itself became unstable.

“Quake!” Yacek called from up ahead, where he rode a trappu of his own. A boulder came sliding down the hill toward them, and Vernestra held on to the reins with her right hand while using the Force to catch the boulder with her left, grunting at the effort of pausing its advance. She pushed it to the side, clear of the narrow track they rode along.
