  33. [19:00] Lyulf Yayle asks, "What's that?"
  34. [19:00] Lotan says, "He said "never forget how to live life.""
  35. [19:00] Lotan says, "I don't think I understood what he meant at the time. . ."
  36. [19:00] Lotan says, "but now I think I see a little bit of why he said that"
  37. [19:00] Lotan says, "I'm grateful. . .but this rank doesn't mean I'm strong."
  38. [19:00] Lotan says, "It means I have more work to do. . ."
  39. [19:00] Lyulf Yayle says, "Wish I'd have talked to him. Spent my entire youth trying to rise up them ranks."
  40. [19:00] Lotan says, "and I plan on doing my job to the best of my ability and then some."
  41. [19:00] Lyulf frowned softly for a moment before chomping on his pipe.
  42. (Lyulf Yayle)

  44.
  45. [19:00] Lotan says, "I don't plan to be like some of the other cadets. . ."
  46. [19:00] Lotan says, "They've given up halfway. . ."
  47. [19:00] Lotan says, "they lost their fight. . ."
  48. [19:00] Lotan says, "No. . . "
  49. [19:00] Lotan says, "I don't WANT to be like that."
  50. [19:00] Lyulf Yayle says, "Ya' already aren't."
  51. [19:00] Lotan smiles
  52. (Lotan)

  55. [19:00] {Won Restrained RPB against Lotan}
  56. [19:00] Violence, it was the only thing he'd ever been good at and here it was being a conduit for him to converse with Lotan. In truth he'd watched the boy grow from a distance. One of the few people he'd been truly proud of back in his day. Each struggle that the Sirenian had overcame had brought him joy.
  57.
  58. With the last battle it was clear that Lyulf was finished with the fighting. Instead he walked across the sands, his gun being holstered before he reached the corporal. A metallic hand reached out to clap him on the shoulder. Squeezing for a moment as those golden hues, blood-shot and passionate wells, looked into their own gaze.
  59.
  60. "You've made me proud Lotan. I wanted you to know that in case I end up dying someday. I know whoever took your hand you'll kill just like me when I catch'em again. I know ya' ain't gonna stop like I did, you're gonna rise through that damn machine an' stand at the top."
  61.
  62. Chuckling softly he shifted the pipe in his mouth and leaned a little closer as if to whisper conspiratorially. "The Commander was right though, don't forget what it means to live. Else you'll end up washed up again." There was an insinuation in that phrase and perhaps it would be clear to see for the younger sirenian. When they'd first met Lyulf had possessed a will of Iron and knew his place in life.
  63.
  64. Now he was adrift waiting to wash up somewhere. Ironic how the tides had shifted.
  65. (Lyulf Yayle)

  69. [19:00] It had been a long time since the sirenian had seen Lyulf. . . years. It felt like, the Private had been distant even. Though his mission and the hard choices he had to make thus far had become an inner demon that only Yayle himself could exorcise.
  70.
  71. A firm squeeze of the shoulder, sleepy black orbs looked into golden hues. The words filled the sirenians' body with a warmth. Strange for the ocean was a cold place after all. Yayle was shoal; family. Though he had a father he had not seen in years, well. . .Yayle was his land-dwelling father.
  72.
  73. Protecting him from Pip the moment she had gone insane, dragging him to the school. Reminding him that he needed to work and push himself to overcome the struggles ahead. Not with words alone, but action .
  74.
  75. His eyes flashed briefly at the mention of his arm, he would take it back from Auxis' with interest . The raging waves in his eyes simmered, at the soft whisper.
  76.
  77. "I won't. . ." he states, though curious as he was he wanted to know. Where had Yayle gone? Where had he been? What ventures had he stepped into?
  78.
  79. All these questions kept flaring up in his mind, and he truly wanted to ask them. Yet perhaps they were part of his inner demons.
  80.
  81. "You aren't going to die anytime soon, your strong." a momentary pause at the pipe, "You should stop smoking it's not good for your health." A worried son. Regardless of what happened in the future. He would not let Yayle die. . .even if he had to march into the Mire.
  82. (Lotan)
  83. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  84.
  85. [19:00] A laugh escaped his lips as his hand left the fish's shoulder. Coming to grip the edge of the pipe, pulling it from his lips he'd just shake his head. He reached into his pipe-case, which was a nice little satchel on his belt, and pulled out a capper. Putting it at the end of his pipe to snuff out the flames.
  86.
  87. "You worry to much! Besides, the reed's just a little sin." In truth the Sirenian could probably smell the flush of scents form the pipe, reeds of crimson and soothing. An odd mix perhaps Yayle controlled which part of the mixture burned at any one time to fit the moment? There was a third smell, strange and pungent but they no doubt didn't recognize it.
  88.
  89. As he turned his hands slid into his pockets. Walking a few feet away his golden gaze trailed upwards towards the night sky. Looking at those gemstones that dazzled in the darkness above. They were beautiful in their own way and he could stare for hours.
  90.
  91. "I am not strong, I'm dangerous. If I was strong I wouldn't have left the army and became a wanderer. Always know the difference between the two Lotan... Always know that you've the choice in your life." Those golden hues trailed back down and he looked back to what amounted to the only family he still had.
  92.
  93. "But let's not worry about all that. Tell me, you find a fish-wife yet?"
  94. (Lyulf Yayle)
  95. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  96.
  97. [19:00] The strange scent from the pipe assaulted the sirenian briefly as the capper snuffed out the flames at the tip. Soothe reed, and other things. A hashed mix.
  98.
  99. He was after all right in worrying, though Lyulf seemed pre-occupied with the thoughts of the night sky. Perhaps Lyulf was dangerous, but it required strength to walk your own path. As much as it required strength to see your choices through until the end.
  100.
  101. He listened quietly for a moment and gazed up at the stars. A collection of shimmering lights that could be seen if one swam to the surface of the ocean. The power of the moons that hung in the air could even change the tides!
  102.
  103. "Hm. . ." his cheeks tinted purple, a what? Sirenian certainly did not hold traditional marriage views. They did not seek out mates, in fact it did not matter whom they bonded too. Yet the rarer the spirit the more it was expected. His own spirit had ascended to a degree. Becoming stronger, and much more powerful than before. AT some point he would have to return to New Atlantis once more. It had been only two years since he had visited but with the coming of age ceremony; well things had changed.
  104.
  105. "Huh I'm not looking for a bonding partner!" he states, his voice carrying across the desert briefly. He was looking for a ship. The future was too far away, and he certainly did not have the desire just yet for children. New Atlantis was crowded as is. No what he desired was a ship. . .at least in this present day and time.
  106.
  107. "I'll worry about that in a few years." he mutters, "Aren't you supposed to have a kid now and get married?" he counters. It felt like the land-dwellers rushed this procedure. Grow up, get married; which he still did not understand why, have a kid, then pass everything to the child.
  108. (Lotan)
  109. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  110.
  111. [19:00] {LONG DISTANCE FROM: The Revenant}: Kasai Shukun's Letter To Lyulf Yayle, 1842. Not opened on arrival.
  112. [19:00] Was the fish blushing? Honestly, Lyulf nearly reverted back to his old habits of bullying the kid right then and there but he didn't want to ruin the moment so he held back his tongue. Practicing that rarely seen restraint. His lips pulled back in what could be described as a mocking grin that is until he asked why he didn't have a wife yet or a kid.
  113.
  114. His hands slid down to hook his thumbs into his gun-belt as he shook his head. "I got you don't I? What other kid would I need." His smile softened slightly at that. "Someone else has my heart kid and they took it with them when they left." He'd avoided the pursuit of a relationship after Peitho had vanished. It just seemed cruel to put himself in the situation where he would leave someone alone in the world.
  115.
  116. "You know I-" His thoughts where interrupted as something like a shade erupted from the shadows. Reaching out he took what appeared to be a letter from it. Casting the stranger creature a death glare as it vanished back into the darkness. "Fuck is this."
  117.
  118. He took a moment to opened the letter for and started to read it. He snorted as his head shook side to side. "A summons then..." His gaze turned upwards to Lotan and he clapped the young man on the shoulders. "Seems a queen wants to have a word with me. I've got to go fish, spend some time with these Vanirhallans. They've got fire in their guts."
  119. (Lyulf Yayle)
  120. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  121.
  122. [19:00] Without a doubt he was absolutely right! He was certainly a handful enough as a kid! Though the news of Lyulf's heart being stolen made his eyes flash. It seemed the man had his own downtrodden luck in the path of love. Enough so to make him avoid future relationships.
  123.
  124. A shade erupted from his shadows, and a letter materialized in his hands.
  125.
  126. A queen?
  127.
  128. Lyulf knew a queen? The knowledge didn't surprise him. Despite him vanishing it seemed as if a lot of people had kept tabs on Lyulf!
  129.
  130. "Aye safe travels!" he nods his head, understanding that Lyulf had his own important meetings and the likes to attend, just as he did now. He also needed to file that paper-work that he had been putting off.
