- [09:16] Sabina It's raining in the Hab again, a thin grey mist this time that lingers across the small hills and trees of the woodland areas. You spy a familar dark-blue cloak walking amidst the vegetation, a small collection of "wild" flowers held in one arm.
- [09:18] Sarah is wandering out in the rain likewise, slowly edging closer to the person, in a unthingking circular motion that retains cover for most of the aproach as moving inside of cover has become second nature for them.
- [09:18] Sabina "Hello Sarah," Sabina calls out "Out enjoying the rain too?"
- [09:19] Sarah "Yes, it is nice, not as burning as the last planet on which I was and slightly more common then those back home.
- [09:21] Sabina She kneels and plucks a small pale-blue flower from some thorny vines wrapped around a tree. "I've always liked the rain myself. There's something peaceful about the sound of it, the coolness of it on my skin."
- [09:23] Sarah "It is certainly different, the pallter of it can be nice, but I prefer a storm, but then that might also be because, I can feel the lightning as it builds up, before it unleashes itself in a glorious moment.
- [09:23] Sabina "Ah, yes thunderstorms are always quite spectacular too."
- [09:26] -->| Strypgia ([email protected]) has joined #AdEva3IC
- [09:28] Sarah "And they clean the air quite nicely, but then, you are missing out a bit of a feeling on the rain "She says as she spreads her mostly skyclad form
- [09:29] Sabina coughs into her fist. "Er, yes well. . . I uh. . . " Her face reddens somewhat "Nevermind."
- [09:31] Sarah "Well you are someont that can quite clearly detect if someone else is around after all, so if you want to try it in private , you can make sure that it is private, and so it is not more embaressing then a shower. Or do you care about the habs sensors seeing you in that one?"
- [09:32] Sabina "Only at about 100 meters! And uh, well it's not really appropriate to go nude where I'm from."
- [09:35] Sarah "What about a swimsuit then?"
- [09:36] Sabina "Why would I wear a swimsuit unless I am to go swimming?"
- [09:38] Sarah "Well it does protect your modesty and also allows you to enjoy the feeling of water right?"
- [09:42] Sabina "It's. . it's fine as it is, really. I'd feel strange in a swimsuit really."
- [09:53] Sarah "Why if I may ask?"
- [09:53] Sabina "Social customs basically."
- [09:58] Sarah "Ah the great uniter and divider " she says with a nod at her
- [09:59] Sabina "So it is, have things improved between the herd and Mirah at all?"
- [10:08] Sarah "They are acompaninger her at least as you saw, i was also recently swimming with them and it worked out well"
- [10:08] Sabina nods.
- [10:08] Sabina "That's good to hear then."
- [10:09] Sarah nods again and looks up in the sky "How went the mission for you?"
- [10:10] Sabina ". . ." Sabina turns her face up to the sky as well, eyes closed as the water runs along her face. "We managed to get the info we were after and extract Koll to safety. Though there were complications."
- [10:13] Sarah "Complications is a good description of that operation"
- [10:14] =-= WolfieBed is now known as Pale_Wolf
- [10:22] Sabina She nods "Dubiers and I spoke. She threatened to kill me if I did not tell her where Koll and Dorian were, though in truth I didn't know what route they took getting him out, and thankfully I got it on video. It turns out she is a Technopath, and attempted to hack our network." Sabina smiles, more of a baring of teath "I showed her why you do not enter a Instrumentalist's domain. She will...
- [10:22] Sabina ...not survive if I must teach her again. Though I don't recall much after that."
- [10:25] Sarah "The old dog might get a bit to angry about that, is there a possibility of you having a accident on ground the next time that you are there based on her temperament?"
- [10:27] Sabina "Perhaps, but. . ' Sabina hrrms under her breath "I don't think so, her hatred lies with Tuissant. I'll be able to work something out with her, I am certain."
- [10:34] Sarah "Unless she uses you as a point"
- [10:36] Sabina "Oh she'll try to use her own video of our conversation against Tuissant, though the threat of our own video will likely stay her hand unless she is self-destructive, and such a action would ruin her ability to really harm Tuissant in the long term."

- [10:58] Sabina "Hm? Do you mean Irene? She was Tuissant's neice, but I don't recall Dubiers being there."
- [11:00] Sarah "She was outside interfering with the press to stupp them from doing things, it should be in my writeup of that scene."
- [11:01] Sabina "Ah, That may be one of the reasons Irene has yet to return to Spiral City."
- [11:05] Sarah "That may be so, or because we act differently towards her then her peers would"
- [11:05] Sabina "Perhaps both, ah but on that note I have a. . . favor to ask of you."
- [11:09] Sarah "Oh? This comes as a bit of a surprise but I am willing to listen"
- [11:14] Sabina "Firstly, I wish to apologize in case I give offense, that is not my intention. Dorian's family is moving into the hab, and the upheaval of moving to a new place is quite stressful. I do not mean to presume on your herd's intentions, but if they should decide to welcome the Taylor's I ask that they restrain themselves from their more lively nature, or perhaps wait a few days for the Taylor's...
- [11:14] Sabina ...to settle in peace."
- [11:15] Sabina "At least at first."
- [11:16] Sarah "I shall spread the word so that mirah and the other can also do so to evade them heading for there residence but I can not offer anything that would stop them from moving in the regular zones of the Habitate, and considering how many of us are there compared to everyone else...
- [11:17] Sabina nods
- [11:17] Sabina "That is all that I asked for, I would not ask nor expect your herd to limit themselves for a single family, only that they try to avoid overwhelming them when they have only just arrived. Thank you Sarah, I am in your debt."
- [11:19] Sarah "Do think nothing of this, cultral shock is something that we are familiar with."
- [11:20] Sabina nods "Which is why I did not expect too much trouble on this request, though I did fear perhaps giving insult. Regardless, a favor given will be repaid in full."
- [11:29] Sarah "Do not be worried that this will hanging over you for evermore.
- [11:30] Sabina "I am not."
- [11:31] Sarah "Not it would be helpfull if I also knew where they where.."
- [11:33] Sabina "Well. . . As Dorian's partners, it would be well within our rights and duties to introduce ourselves to his family, to assure them of the quality of his comrades." She gives a small smile "In fact that is what I am here for, I intend to gift his mother a flower arrangement," She gestures to the collection of flowers she has amassed

- [11:46] Sabina "You're welcome to join me while I make it, I could put on some tea too."
- [11:49] Sarah "I could try it , and no I am not snacking on them"
- [11:50] Sabina nods. "Alright, we'll need to gather some extra flowers then." She grins "And if you want to snack on the ones we have left over you are welcome to."
- [11:57] Sarah "Well one does not taste a gift in sch a manner, gift giving is a important ritual"

- [12:22] Sarah "If one does not have much, is then giving something of such a higher importance as one can see where it is hurting you?"
- [12:23] Sabina nods. "Yes, that makes sense."
- [12:27] Sarah "And that is also while works of poesy are nice, practicabilaity is also important. At best of corse if you can combine both and for example make a book or some tablets with knowledge "
- [12:27] Sabina "Bringing together the practical and the artistic."

- [15:13] Sarah "A rare hope for people to have"
- [15:13] =-= YOU are now known as Sabina
- [15:25] Sabina ---------
- [15:28] Sabina Sarah: Sabina's apartment is a fair sized space, the lights turned on low. Plants and flowers lurk in the corners and along the walls, small patches of green leaves and colorful flowers. The walls are a soothing beige coloration, and the central room features a low table and a few chairs with a couch. Paintings, almost entirely of landscapes, hang from the walls. Most are in darker hues yet...
- [15:28] Sabina ...do not seem somber or subdued either, while a few are monochromatic.
- [15:29] Sabina "I can put some tea to boil if you'd like, or would you rather have something else? Sabina asks as she ushers you, and the now rather large collection of flowers, inside.
- [15:29] Sabina "Oh, and if it's too dark I can turn the lights up, it's no trouble."
- [15:34] Sarah "I am good with either of these, I can see in the dark after all"
- [15:38] Sabina nods. "I prefer the lighting like this myself, my home is rather low-light."
- [15:39] Sabina sets a pot of tea to boil before placing the flowers upon the table, beside a pair of empty ceramic vases. There's a collection of paints and brushes as we;;. "The vases are rather plain, so I thought to perhaps paint them." She explains
- [15:41] Sarah "That does make sense , is painting something that you do more often?"
- [15:48] Sabina "It is a hobby of mine, all of the ones you see in here are my own works really."
- [15:50] Sarah "Why landnscapes instead of persons?"
- [15:53] Sabina "A few reasons, painting landscapes gives me a reason to get outside and away from others when I want solitude. And I spend so much of time with other people that I prefer to spend my free time doing something that's entirely personal, if that makes sense."
- [15:53] Sabina "Plus I simply prefer painting landscapes."
- [15:57] Sarah "and you do not know what a landscape thinks"
- [15:58] Sabina "So it is, though I hardly think my gift is in of-itself a burden."
- [16:00] Sarah "What about animals?"
- [16:01] Sabina "Them as well, though they are. . . less interesting? I suppose would be the phrase to use. Their colors are less vivid, lacking in the sort of ah, depth that people have."
- [16:01] Sarah "Could that not also be a dvantage to them?"
- [16:03] Sabina "Perhaps but they are no harder to read or pick out. " The tea-kettle whistles and Sabina grabs it, taking a moment to pour out a measure of hot tea into a pair of cups, placing the first before Sarah.
- [16:04] Sarah "Thanks" she says and then waits for her to sit before she starts to drink
- [16:09] Sabina sits back down and takes a drink from her tea, not minding the heat. "I must say, I've become a fan of this blend, a phendrian tea."
- [16:37] Sarah "I do not quite know enough about them to differentiate them, why do you like it?"
- [16:38] Sabina "The flavor is interesting, there's a bitterness there yes, but it gives way to a honeyed-aftertaste. And it carries a earthy spice in the aroma."
- [16:43] Sarah nods even if she shivers for a very slight moment as she hears the word honey."
- [16:47] Sabina "Ah, but onto business I suppose, or such as it is. If you'd like to paint the 2nd vase you're more than welcome to borrow my paints."
- [16:52] Sarah "I do not..know if I could do so? I.. never really tried it "
- [16:59] Sabina nods with a contemplative look. "A idea then? You paint you vase as practice to see how you like, and I can paint mine for the gift. Is that agreeable?"
- [17:12] Sarah "That does sod good there.." she nods at her "How do I.. paint it then with yor things?"
- [17:16] Sabina "Well I picked these paints up for ceramics actually," She gestures to a want looking device "the paints are a sort of oil that hardens when you hit with the light from the wand there, up until that point you can remove the paint with water and a rag." She sets out a pair of trays "For the paints you just put a very small not larger than, ah, my fingernail. And then you use the brush to dab...
- [17:16] Sabina ...a bit of the paint on and then apply it to the vase. You can mix the colors on the tray if you need to adjust the shade."
- [17:18] Sarah "...Last time I used ochre and jucies with my finger.."
- [17:20] Sabina "Ah, I think these may stain your fur, though I could find some finger paints somewhere for another time." She sets out about 5 brushes of varying sized for Sarah "Those should cover most of the sized you'll need. My honest advice is to simply try your best, painting should come from the soul, do not worry how well it comes out, I assure you, my first efforts were not things I was proud of."
- [17:23] Sarah nods at that, unsure and still looks like she just sked her for medical procedures
- [17:26] Sabina "Here," Sabina picks up one of the brushes and shows Sarah how to hold them and gives her a quick example as she uses a pale blue color to paint what looks like a the beginning of a bird onto the side of the narrow vase.
- [17:36] Sarah starts to paint after a moment and what appears is the haunting view of a ashen age ship burried in a desolate landscape, trees are visible in the backround , and one can see thahe her lines are starting smudge a bit, which might be becase she has started to cry , without seeing it as she paints
- [17:36] Sarah Trees are visible in the backround but sparesly , and a hint of two moons is vibsible in the nightsky
- [17:48] Sabina "Oh, you're a natural Sarah," Sabina smiles
- [17:48] Sarah does not quite register that as she is lost in the picture
- [17:50] Sabina says nothing more, instead focusing on her own panting.
- [17:56] =-= Chrisalid is now known as Dorian
- [17:59] Dorian Some time later, Dorian comes upon the painting duo. Clearing his throat to get Sabina's attention he says, "Sorry to interrupt, but you said you had some important information to give me, in person?"
- [18:02] Sabina "Ah, yes I did." She steps away from her vase, pastel shades standing in stark contrast to the albastor background. It portays a circular image, the bootom of the vase being a blue-ish green of a pound, reeds growing out to the upper half, and above them a pale-blue sky dotted with clouds and a few 4 winged birds. It's done in broad strokes, without great details.
- [18:03] Sarah The sky has a number of stairs on them and a faint outline of constelation and the milky way is visible but something about the whole thing looks, strange, like it is not meant for morphs to see, uncanny.
- [18:05] Dorian is clearly examining the works from afar using his artificial eye as he waits for Sabina to begin.
- [18:06] Sabina "Perhaps, this should be done privatly?" [It pertains to the chance you may be a latent psionic. I am unsure how open you wish to be with that fact, but I leave that to you if you would rather keep it to yourself.]
- [18:07] Sarah shakes her head after a moment and looks at the others "oh hello dorian, sorry I missed you there."
- [18:12] Dorian waves at Sarah nervously, looking at her own work for a moment - and saving the image for later - before composing a reply. [Oh, /that/. I didn't think you were being super-serious about it. Still, if you want to talk about anything like that, the less ears around the better.]
- [18:14] Sabina [Of course.] "Sarah?" Sabina sets out another set of paints, new colors and more detail brushes "I need to speak to Mr. Taylor privatly, Here are some more colors and some finer brushes for finer detail if you like. And if you finish feel free to borrow some of my canvas as well. You have a gift, and if you wish, I would like to see it supported."
- [18:16] Sarah "I can, certainly try that "she nods at them seemingly missing the tried tears on her face
- [18:16] Sarah (dried
- [18:17] Sabina nods and gestures for Dorian to follow her down the hallway past the living room.
- [18:18] Dorian does so
- [18:20] Dorian But before he has left entirely... [I can tell you put a lot of emotion into that...] he sends to Sarah.
- [18:20] Sabina Dorian: Sabina leads you to her bedroom. There's a small bed laying directly upon the floor, a few plants and paintings decorating the room. There's a shrine as well, which dominates the room, a large procelin bowl, decorated in a script that you don't reckoginize lays in the center, burnt sticks of incense propped up in holders. There's a heady sense from the sticks, mingled with the...
- [18:20] Sabina ...distant scent of burnt offerings.
- [18:21] Sabina The glaive rests in a holder above the shrins, the purple tendrils waving gently in the air. Sabina takes a moment to run her finger along the haft, the tendrils curling in pleasure it seems.
- [18:22] Dorian 'I get the feeling it's going to be my turn next to host company...' Dorian thinks to himself as he catches up to current goings-on.
- [18:22] Sabina "YOu'll have to excuse the lack of chairs, I do not normally have guests here, but it's perhaps the only private space here without forcing Sarah out of the door."
- [18:23] Dorian shrugs at the lack of chairs. "She seems to be putting a lot of herself into that. Even /I/ can tell. New hobby of hers?"
- [18:24] Sabina "Would you bellive me if I told you it's her fist time painting? Were I a lesser person I would be envious of her natural tallent. I only hope however, that it brings her joy, or barring that least catharsis from her past. I cannot claim to have created a painting that has brought me to tears myself."
- [18:30] Dorian "No kidding." Despite the laconic response Sabina gets a clear sense, even without any psionics, that Dorian is well-impressed by skilled and talented craftsfolk of all kinds.
- [18:32] Sabina "I do have some more information on latent psionics. Broadly speaking there's not a real pattern to what makes them grow. Stress, hostile psionics, time, etc can all further catalyze the growth however. There are ways of ensuring that the powers never come to fruition, I would expect there are ways of telling if you are latent as well."
- [18:33] Sabina She takes a breath "I do think you should be tested, just in case. As Psionics tend to run in families. If you /are/ in fact a latent Psi, than the chances that your siblings are as well increases drastically. I think that if you are confirmed than your mother should be told, so that that consideration can be taken into place."
- [18:34] Dorian visibly flinches. "I... I /really/ don't like the idea of doing that, if even /hypothetically/ this were the case..."
- [18:35] Sabina "I'm not going to tell you what to do Dorian, I only wanted you to be aware of the factors at play so you can make a informed decision."
- [18:35] Dorian "So I take it you don't really know how they test for latency?"
- [18:35] Sabina shakes her head.
- [18:36] Dorian "But do you know who to talk to for it?"
- [18:36] Sabina "I would suggest speaking to Dr. Popjoy and Natah on the topic."
- [18:37] Dorian "I'm not familiar with him."
- [18:38] Sabina "Dr. Popjoy is the uh. . . well he /is/ the medical wing. Natah is a senior member of the psionics department, I value his opinion highly. I expect him to give you a fair assessment of things."
- [18:40] Dorian "Noted. Got their contact info?"
- [18:41] Sabina "I do," She passes him Natah's and Popjoy's contact info "Dorian? If given, would you give my council the weight I feel it is due?"
- [18:43] Dorian strokes his chin. "Well, you /are/ the only psionic I've talked to for more than 5 minutes that hasn't tried to give me a literal and metaphorical headache to say the least, and this is definitely your area of expertise..."
- [18:47] Dorian In other words, the closest to a "yes" that Dorian would outright give here.
- [18:48] Sabina Sabina looks Dorian in the eyes, her voice is soft, but earnest and deeply serious "In such a case I will say this, and know that my words are only council, nothing more. I do not command, nor do I order. Dorian, it is easily clear to me that psionics have caused you no small amount of pain, that you have been abused and demand and devalued by those who wield a multitude of powers over you....
- [18:48] Sabina ...I truly believe that my powers are a gift, yes, but I am aware that you may not feel the same. I do think you stand to gain much if you in fact have these powers and accept them, however it is your choice, and yours alone to decide if you wish to embrace them. Do not allow anyone, not Natah, not your mother, nor I, nor Ikris, not Tuissant, /or/ your fears to decied for you. You and you...
- [18:48] Sabina ...alone can make this choice, weigh your happiness and your duties carefully, but the choice is yours, and I will fight for your right to make that choice before any and all who would seek to deny it."
- [18:50] Dorian considers things for a moment.
- [18:51] Dorian "Answer me this question: if I were to have such powers, could I use them to ensure I'm never threatened in our own mind ever again?"
- [18:51] Dorian *my not our
- [18:52] Sabina "I think perhaps, that it would depend on how your powers devolp, but it would in all likelihood make it easier to learn how to defend your mind. I would however, suggest you also aks Natah, he is more learned in such matter than myself. In either case, I am willing to share what wisdom my teacher has passed onto me on defending my own mind."
- [19:03] Dorian thinks for another moment. "That would be useful; I've been trying some supposed techniques I found on the networks but I couldn't tell you if they work or not."
- [19:04] Sabina "Tuissant has learned how to guard her thoughts, so one does not need the gift to do it.But regardless, I can share with you what I know, though not right now persay. I would need to ask my grandfather for some of our manuals and a few other things."
- [19:05] Sabina "And uh, I would ask that you not make ti known I am sharing such things with you, while not forbidden and within my rights as the keeper, it would be a. . politically derisive move."
- [19:06] Dorian "Why is that?"
- [19:08] Sabina "Nominally such materials are normally forbidden to outsiders, though there are provisions in place for us to properly train psionics who emerge outside our clan and lack a support structure to harness their abilities. Though considering you have the constables such a argument would fail. As the Keeper,I have the sole discretionary power to decide how to best protect the Instrament. In this...
- [19:08] Sabina ...case I feel that helping you learn how to defend your mind, and train whatever powers you may have if you wish as well, is to that benefit. You have stood beside me in battle, and if you seek to improve yourself than I would be a fool to not aide you."
- [19:09] Sabina "Of course," she smiles "What the clan heads do not know will not harm them, and they are so very far away, and this is /such/ a small matter there is no real need to concern them with this no?"
- [19:10] Dorian "Fair enough." Dorian is no stranger to keeping secrets.
- [19:11] Sabina nods, pleased. "That covers what I wanted to speak to you about, did you have any further questions or concerns?"
- [19:11] Dorian "Nothing that I can't mull over or ignoire while I'm settling my family in, no."
- [19:12] Sarah meanwhiel seems to be lost in painting
- [19:12] Sabina "I wish you the best of luck in that as well. And Sarah and I were interested in stopping by to wish them welcome if it is no trouble."
- [19:13] Sabina leads Dorian back into the main room and to Sarah
- [19:15] Dorian "Give them a few days to adjust, my brother's been having a particularly tough time as it is.
- [19:15] Sabina nods
- [19:16] Sarah Her different work on the other hand is much less haunting, she tried to create , it looks like it is mirah , but some of the colours are..kind of wrong as if she tried to use them to display something that wasnn't visible for your eyes there
- [19:19] Sabina humms.
- [19:20] Dorian examines the painting. He's familiar with strange color palette choices in art - like any child he was made to study a few in high school - be he gets the sense this wasn't the intention. "What's with the colors?" he asks.
- [19:20] Sabina "Sarah? I think I saw some paints for morphs who see on a different spectrum than the baseline. Would you have any interest in my putting a link out to that?"
- [19:22] Dorian winces in realization that the answer to his question could've been so simple. "So antelope eyes don't see the same range of colors that ours do? Huh, not something you see every day."
- [19:22] Sabina shrugs
- [19:23] Sabina "She'd not have made such a basic mistake unless there was a reason too, and I've seen some examples of art aimed for none-baseline vision, so I had a idea of what it looked like."
- [19:25] Dorian "I was thinking it was just... art-y, maybe; there was plenty of unrealistic-paletted stuff in the books they had us study in school."
- [19:25] Dorian "It's supposed to evoke emotions or something."
- [19:25] Dorian shrugs
- [19:26] Sarah "I, well I was not quite thinking in parts I have to say, and well, I can see father in both direction then I think either of you can. Like how I can see Infrared and ultraviolet and. In a way, we can never see what someone else sees unless one is a telepath.."
- [19:26] Sarah looks lost in thought
- [19:27] Sabina "My own body-plan is adjusted for low light vision, we pick colors up more clearly in the dark then the baseline, as well as better night-vision overall."
- [19:27] Sarah shakes her head and stretches out her hand it hovering above the picture as her symbiote stretches out a tentacle to caress it, and then with a trick of the light it is visible what is different, this mirah looks younger less hardend
- [19:28] Sabina "Do you enjoy painting?"
- [19:33] Sarah "I don't know it is .. a strange feeling"
- [19:33] Sabina "You are free to take the brushes and those paints, I keep spares, as well as some spare canvas to see how it suits you. You do have a talent, and I would be honored to nurture it."
- [19:36] Dorian suddenly loses himself in thought, considering something
- [19:37] Sabina tilts her head. "Oh, Dorian please excuse my poor manners, I never offered you tea."
- [19:38] Sarah "i.. will think on it"
- [19:38] Dorian snaps out of it for a moment and shrugs, replying, "No worries." He gladly accepts the tea and thanks his host before nursing the drink, thinking more.
- [19:39] Sabina nods. before letting her guests tend to their thoughts while she continues her work on her vase
- [19:46] Sarah "How... how does the .First on, look to you?"
- [19:47] Sarah is not watching them, staring on her new canvas
- [19:47] Dorian "The one with the crashed starship?"
- [19:49] Sarah barely nods
- [19:50] Sabina "If you had not told me this was your first time with paints I would have thought that the work of someone with a few years of intense practice."
- [19:51] Dorian "I did send you that PM about it, and really I can't do anything but agree with her here," Dorian points at Sabina.
- [19:52] Sabina "Where we on my home, the families would be fighting for the right to be the one to sponsor you."
- [19:53] Dorian "Aristos, I take it?"
- [19:54] Sabina "Ah, uh yes, or at least something so close to it to say otherwise would be misleading."
