Reinstatement/Transfer requests


Previous employees of the Los Angeles Fire Department are eligible to request a reinstatement into the Department at any time. Employees of other Fire Departments, Emergency Medical Units or Hospitals from around the world are also able to request a transfer into the department if they wish to begin work with the LAFD. Each request is discussed in-depth by the Los Angeles Fire Department Command Team, looking at all previous employment history before coming to a decision.

Reinstated/Transferred Employees will usually be reinstated with the rank below their previous one however there are cases in which they will be reinstated at the same rank or a drastically lower one. There are no specific guidelines and each case will be discussed on an individual basis.

A recent change has returned the LAFD to TWO sectors; EMS and Fire.

If you are wishing to return to the faction as a part-time member you are also free to do so.

[b]Terms of Reinstatement[/b]

   ? Reinstatement's usually take 24-60hrs to process (1-4 working days). If for any reason your reinstatement goes over this period you will be contacted for the reason behind this.

   ? Your criminal record will be re-checked.

   ? If honorably discharged you may reinstate at any given time.

   ? If dishonorably discharged you must wait 30 days (4 weeks) before submitting a reinstatement.

   ? You must be completely honest in all questions. If something is found to be untrue, you will be banned from reinstating.
