CHAPTER 1: THE PATH DOWN AWAKENING ROAD. BY MEGABOY

Maverick Hunters X and Zero are chasing down the Death Rogumer air ship. The leader of the Maverick Rebellion, Sigma has just threatened the world with missile attacks across Abel City and beyond. It's up to X and Zero to take down Sigma...

DATE: JULY 4TH, 21XX. THE DAY OF SIGMA.
LOCATION: ROUTE 69, AWAKENING ROAD.

X and Zero are quickly approaching the air ship, their Ride Chasers are at high speeds as they drive down the broken highway.

ZERO: I can't believe someone like Sigma actually went Maverick! Why the hell would anyone like him go Maverick anyway? What kind of personal gain would he get?

X: I'm not sure... None of this should have ever happened Zero. And I'm going to shoot down that air ship.

Within a couple of seconds, X's Ride Chaser goes at it's Max speed and boosts ahead of Zero.

ZERO: Wait hold on, X!

X was already ahead of Zero, far ahead in fact. The faster he went the closer he was to the air ship. Soon, Mavericks started raining down from the Death Rogumer... X activated his X Buster and started shooting them down one by one, some of them tried to make holes in the highway with their spike crushers. X made it through them hastily with his Ride Chaser. Vehicle-Type Mavericks named Road Attackers started speeding down from the hanger of the air ship.

X: What the-

The Road Attackers got behind X and started firing from behind, X turns around and charges up his X-Buster. He didn't want to but he fired a charge shot at the head of one of the Road Attackers. The remains of the car crashed with two other Road Attackers. X then started using his normal level shots at the wheels of the remaining Road Attackers to disable their guns and wheels.

X: There we go... That should be the last of them... Hopefully Zero can make it up to me, I'm just under the Death Rogumer.

Suddenly, a large Ride Armor can be spotted coming from the hanger of the air ship... It's a dark blue Melee Combat Model...

X: Oh no, not him...

The hanger lowers down to reveal the pilot of this very ride armor. He is mounted with an arm cannon over his shoulder and a red V with a painted on Sigma mark on his Helmet.

X: Vile?!

VILE: Glad to see someone still remembers me.

Vile aims his cannon directly at X's Ride Chaser and fires at it, destroying the Ride Chaser and leaving X on the ground.

X: Gyah?!

VILE: Oh, did that hurt?

He lands on the ground with his Ride Armor. And sits firmly into the seat of the ride armor.

VILE: Because personally I'll be happy if it did.

X struggles to get up from the surprise attack.

VILE: Hehehe, look at you! You can barely even get up from that? Trust me I have a lot stronger attacks to take you down. I'm surprised you were the center of attention.

X: What do you mean?

Vile punches X with his Ride Armor's fist when he tries to stand up, knocking him to the side.

VILE: Well? I was an A-Rank Hunter before I got locked up due to collateral damage issues. I did great things, and everyone was looking at you. Commander Sigma was always looking at you. I was nothing compared to you. And look at you now!

X tries to stand up again and does to, he fires a few buster shots at Vile's ride armor. But it doesn't work.

VILE: This is just weak.

Vile then proceeds to repeatedly beat X with his ride armor. Vile starts slamming him into the ground multiple times, once he's done with that. He throws X near the edge of the road, his head is almost off of it. Vile walks up to X in his ride armor and grapples him, taunting him by slightly sliding him over the edge.

VILE: I can't believe Sigma had faith in someone as weak as you... Welp! It was nice knowing you X.

Suddenly, out of nowhere a charged shot blasts off the Ride Armor's arm.

VILE: Well would you look who it is?

X: Z-Zero!

Zero stands with his Buster pointed at Vile's armor, it's smoking from the blast he just fired.

ZERO: X, get out of there! I'll handle Vile.

X nods and gets over to Zero.

VILE: You're not handling me yet. And you sure as hell aren't getting onto that air ship!

Zero charges up another shot, but then Vile dismounts from his ride armor and hops onto the Death Rogumer's carrier. He laughs as the air ship flies away. Zero then walks over to X.

X: Dang it... I couldn't beat him.

ZERO: This is what happens when you go off on your own X, granted you didn't know he was coming.

X closes his eyes and looks down. Zero walks over to X and places a hand on his shoulder.

ZERO: You know X, one day you can be more powerful than me if you tried your best. Reploids like you don't really come in cheap, most people who don't try buy their way into upgrades that make them stronger... You have the power to defeat Sigma, you just need to learn how to use your skills.

X looks up at Zero and opens his eyes.

X: Alright, Zero.

He gets up, Zero starts walking away to follow after the Death Rogumer's location.

X: Zero, wait!

ZERO: Yeah?

X smiles back at him

X: Thanks.

Zero gives him a thumbs up, he then dashes away. X teleports back to Maverick Hunter HQ. Once he gets there, a navigator approaches X.

NAVIGATOR: There you are X! We got eight major Maverick Reports from all over Abel City's area. We need you to take care of them.

X: Can I see the bios for these Mavericks?

NAVIGATOR: I'm bringing them up now.

The screen details Eight Mavericks. Storm Eagle, Flame Mammoth, Boomerang Kuwanger, Spark Mandrill, Armored Armadillo, Chill Penguin, and Sting Chameleon. It is X's destiny to go after these eight enemies and fight them.
They'll lead the way to Sigma, and the way to end the battle.
