I've kind of worked around that for magic.

The magic situation is a bit more ad hoc.

At the moment, no one has any thrown weapons in their primary weapon slots.
But you're right, it could become an issue.

Wheeled, change your damage to x2 of your strength, and we'll use the pistol rules for your ranges.
This is for Damage 3 and the "X3" ranges below it.
This is for if you want to drop a firewall somewhere precise.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The room fills with a deafening noise as the explosion blows the door outwards. The soldiers who stood so foolishly nearby didn't stand a chance. They're eviscerated by the explosion before they have a chance to react. The party, whether shielded by luck, height or a literal shield, are left unfazed.
A dreadful silence falls over the room.
There is a stairwell through the door. It extends up quite some way. You cannot see the top of it clearly... but you can see two bodies silhouetted in the smoke.
Jake, you sense something nearby.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The acid begins to drain out the room rapidly.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The passageway ahead looks quite wide, but two people at most would have to take point.

Roland: Roland moves up next to Jake with his shotgun

Jake Satomi: "Four bogeys, one looks like an officer. They have rifles and grenades, and the officer has a huge sword. Same tech as before, foreign make."

Joan Uliar: Joan stays still for a moment, blinks a bit, and looks around. Clearly, having a shield save you from a child-sized chunk of heated metal is not a good thing to have, but at least she is alive. SHe picks up Lilac, and stays behind the group, a noticeable distance away

Jake surveys the group. Joan is okay from the hit, and she has Lilac. Good. He pulls out his own HT Rifle and a grenade. In response to Roland's comment, his forward hand lights up like a lantern.
"They're up a stairwell, and have the high ground."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): His hand illuminates the stairs ahead clearly. He can't see the top, but the stairs seem to loop round on themselves and come back towards the wall of the acid trap. They presumably end at the entrance to some kind of room. The top of the stairwell overhangs the entrance to the stairwell...

Jake Satomi: It's a risky idea, but he asks anyway.
(can I lob a grenade and pull it back and up, to get it onto the level above the stairs?)
(Also, it's thundering here, so I should go and grab the fallback network stuff real quick)

Jake Satomi: Jake charges up the stairs, gun at the ready. Despite the risk of making himself a target, he's still lighting the way for the others who don't have the benefit of radar vision. They're prone, after all. Deflection field and charged armor is up.

(You can all hear two more individuals crying out in alarm and moving. One is calling for calm. They seem to be moving towards the doorway.)

The entire party wind up down at the bottom of the stairs as the grenade erupts into flames mere yards above their heads. Luckily, no one is hurt.

GrumpiestVulcan: Looks like things are in hand, so Jake turns off his powered. Since he didn't mov from his spot the previous round, his energy increases by STR/2 - 4 = 15. But he's still holding a boost, which is directed at the prone officer now...

Roland: Roland winces at the bad throw and moves up with his shotgun.
As there's no chance to get ambushed, he decides to try questioning the officer.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Remember, you can change the direction of your dragon boost right up until you release it.)

GrumpiestVulcan: So then, the question is, does Jake err on the side of mercy? Rather, does Roland give a sign that he wants information? Because Jake isn't happy about the trap right now.

Roland: (do whatever you like, mate)

GrumpiestVulcan: Well, Roland would recognize the windup. It's the same thing Lilac did.

Alyssa Scroll: She looks down at the soldier and smirks.

GrumpiestVulcan: And since it was in the last round, he can react. So, does he?

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (I could just rule that Roland moved up, but I'm interested in this dilemma.)

Joan Uliar: (Not to mention Joan and Alyssa would be in the way, too :v)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Right. Jake would be obstructed.)

Since the previously charging officer was handily disabled by Joan, and is currently surrounded by the others, Jake simply directs the boost into the ground inches below.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Jake hits the front stair with such force he is thrown backwards. He winds up windmilling his arms to keep balance. The ground shakes beneath the party's feet as several thousand tonnes of concrete meet a wayward dragon.

Jake Satomi: He steadies himself.
"Sorry 'bout that."
Then he walks over to join the others surrounding the prone, singed officer.

Roland: (maximum roleplaying by attacking a downed enemy against the wishes of the guy who wants to question them)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The officer on the ground groans.
"...am I a prisoner?" She asks.
At this moment, Roland, Joan, Jake and Alyssa notice a little hound boy staring at the carnage in utter disbelief. A few feet away, and restrained by handcuffs, is a second hound. She's dressed in a white uniform similar to the soldiers the party has just taken down... and is also staring at the scene, her mouth agape.
(Why didn't I have the soldier croak "parley"?

Joan Uliar: Joan looks at the two "Who are you two?"

Roland: "Depends, is there a reason we should take you prisoner?"

Alyssa Scroll: Her confusion is greatly enhanced, as she starts pointing her sword around--specifically at the two hounds.

Roland: Roland keeps his gun pointed at the downed officer in the meantime.

Alyssa Scroll: "Any reason why this shouldn't get any worse than it is?"

Jake Satomi: Jake keeps his own gun pointed towards the non-party members, but bends down and picks up her sword with the other hand.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The little boy is too scared to talk. He's focussed on the guns and the bodies beyond the door... he scrambles back when Alyssa points his sword towards him. The older girl, however, scrambles over to him and puts her arms around him protectively, fumbling with her handcuffs in the process.

Roland: (Joan has the sword, I thought)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Sorry, trying to react)

Joan Uliar: (Alyssa has her own sword. Joan has the Officers)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Leave us alone! We're... we're not your enemies, ok?"

Jake Satomi: (Right... nevermind. Just pointing the gun at them and leaving the cop to do the interrogation.)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The officer mutters to Alyssa.
"You can take me prisoner... I'm worth a ransom..."

Jake Satomi: (how are you carrying all of that, by the way?)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "...or you can just kill me. I'd return the favour, believe me." she spits.

Joan Uliar: "Alright..." Joan places the sword down, out-of-reach from the officer, and tries her best to speak in a calmer voice (Though with what has happened, its pretty difficult) "I don't know what is happening right now, either"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Believe me, she would." The boy croaks in response to the officer.

Alyssa Scroll: "I suppose we should start off simple. Are you the idiots we got a call from earlier, over the radio?"

Jake Satomi: heads in to get a better look at the prisoners he sensed earlier.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "We got into a fight with those soldiers, ok?!" The girl explains shakily, "We didn't want to help them anymore. But we lost..."
She bursts into tears.
The boy doesn't answer either, looking down. But that was definitely his voice on the radio.
"You're traitors to both sides now girl. You and your brother are already dead. Doesn't matter when it happens."

Joan Uliar: Joan nods, and looks at the kid "And you were the one on the radio... we're here to help you both"

Roland: (that's the officer speaking, right)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Yes. Sorry if it wasn't clear.)

Joan Uliar: (I got that part)

Jake Satomi: "Hold up your hands."
Jake attempts to remove the handcuffs of each prisoner. Child's play.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The hound girl breathes a sigh of relief as her handcuffs are taken off her.
"Please... just get us to the surface. You're with the... wait."
She looks at the party in confusion.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "You're... not army. Who... who are you?"
She spots Lilac and stares.
"Is... is that?"

Alyssa Scroll: "Mercs. You're lucky we're even saving you idiots."
The vulpine starts to lower her guard.

Joan Uliar: "?" Joan looks at the dragon she is still carrying "Am I the only one who doesn't know why this dragon is so important?"

Roland: "I am not very happy with this turn of events because our attempt to help you led us into a trap."
To the officer, he speaks: "Don't suppose you would know anything about a wildcat wearing a white uniform similar to these people over there?"

Jake Satomi: "I prefer 'vigilante'," he shrugs. "I didn't even know about this foreign army until yesterday."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The soldier remains silent on the ground for a moment. She seems to be preparing herself.
"I'm not going to betray my..."
She falls quiet.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "...you won't get anything out of me... kill me if you have to."

Alyssa Scroll: And immediately, that guard is brought back up. Her sword is pointed to the solider's head, "Your what, now?" She seems furious

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The girl looks at Joan in disbelief.
"That's Lilac you bumpkin! Did you grow up under a rock or something? Even if you don't believe in what she did, you must've at least heard the Magister's..."
She goes quiet in fear as Alyssa threatens the officer.
The officer goes silent.

Roland: "Everyone keeps saying that and it's getting really annoying. I suppose that's what it means to be in a cult."
Roland directs Jake to move next to the noncombatants.
"Her question, if you please?"

Joan Uliar: Joan blinks, then looks at the dragon on her shoulder "Wait wait wait... from those rumors? That Lilac?"

Jake Satomi: He arches an eyebrow. There's been a lot of moving about and jostling around. When is Heropants going to wake the heck up?

Alyssa Scroll: "It's obvious that you know them. And, funnily enough, we know them too! We've met 'em a couple times before--even had a tea party or two," sarcasm resonates in her voices. "Now, please fill us in on what you know. We're neutral, so it's not like we'll hurt 'em or anything."

Jake Satomi: Jake is already by the noncombatants. He relased their handcuffs.

Roland: (pretend I wanted you to give them moral support lol)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Just judging what to answer first.)

Jake Satomi: he looks at the red panda.
"Yes, Joan. That Lilac. Do you know any others?"

Joan Uliar: (Red Fox*)

Jake Satomi: (yeah, that)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Look... we got taken in, ok? You've... you've no idea what it's like growing up in this city! Things have been going downhill for years, and with the Kingdom Stone... a big... inaccessible sky thing now!"
She sighs

Joan Uliar: "Well... lets see..." Joan thinks, and would facepalm if she wasn't holding Lilac "Sorry. I guess having a day of constantly getting shot at, exploded, and stabbed makes you not pay attention to old rumors and names" Clearly, there is a hint of minor annoyance and sarcasm on her voice

Jake Satomi: "Taken in by who?"

Joan Uliar: And Joan nods to the hounds words "And that is true. Shang Tu(?) hasn't been the same" She sighs and waits for a response to Jake's question

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "They promised us money and a better life, ok? And they said they would actually care about the people of the slums! Our leaders sit in their ivory palaces, working on their pet projects... and we're just supposed to sit here and trust them to get it right with this new reactor of theirs? The Magister let things go to hell here before we ran out of power. Why should anyone listen to him now?"
"I joined because these people said that anyone could be someone as long as they were prepared to fight for it. Now... I know what that means."
(I wish I could edit "ivory" to "stone" or "grand". The cringe is real.)

Jake Satomi: "Who are 'they?'" the dragon reiterates.

Alyssa Scroll: "You know that we're the only ones here, right?" She's getting more annoyed by the second, "Stop being so vague and tell us to 'they' is!"

Roland: Roland raises an eyebrow at this confession.
"So, who is 'they' exactly, and do you know what they are trying to do."

Joan Uliar: Joan listens "But...why change to someone you don't even know? And..." Joan looks at the others "It would help if we knew who 'they' were"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The girl falls quiet for a moment. There's a note of dread in her voice when she speaks.
"...Queen Perera... of the Lonely Isle. They're planning an invasion of the Three Kingdoms. And Shang Tu's first."

Joan Uliar: Joan takes this in and nods "And... what about Haxli? Sinking half the city for nothing?"

Alyssa Scroll: She mutters to herself, "Welp, at least we know the one who's behind all of this now."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Haixi's just an idiot. He's going to blow up half the city the way he's going... and he'll turn the slums against him while he's at it. Once they've got our army bottled up in the Northern half of the city... they're going to attack. They won't stand a chance."

Joan Uliar: "Thought he was just being an idiot"

Roland: "Finally, we're getting somewhere."
Roland ponders about his machine gun now.
"Two questions now. Do you know exactly where and how the attack will happen, and is your Queen Perera based around Shuigang?"

Alyssa Scroll: She lowers her guard again, opting to sit next to the officer. Alyssa sighs, "Anything else interesting you wanna tell us? Like who exactly this Queen of your's is."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The girl's eyebrows raise in confusion. She stares back anxiously at Roland.
"Shuigang? Wh... what do they have to do with it. I heard rumours about some tensions up there between the king and some of the northern boar tribes... but I don't know why you'd ask about that."
Roland: She's on the level here. This is someone who is genuinely confused by your query.

Jake Satomi: Meanwhile, Jake is listening, but also looking around for supplies and exits.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "All I know about Queen Perera is she took power by force. And she's building everything around the army... the government, civil society... everything. Apparently, she has an army that can equal Kingdom weaponry. They've started to catch up.

Joan Uliar: Joan looks at her own rifle (on her back), then at one of the hi-tech ones "Yeah... we've seen"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Jake finds ten untossed grenades and a heaping helping of spare ammo. There's enough for at least ten clips.
(Four healing petals are also found, alongside a valuable petal essence potion and enough bandages to heal about five wounds.)

Alyssa Scroll: "What foxgirl said," she notes. "And what about the Lonely Isle? What is that--some sort of prison island?"

Jake Satomi: He already has plenty of HT rifle ammo, and petals. He takes three units of bandages, the potion, and four grenades. He might also walk over to Joan and do a Medicine check to see why Lilac hasn't woken up yet.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "They're going to wait until the city falls into chaos, cut it off and then bombard the northern side with artillery until they surrender. I think they're going to strike in about three days. They're already disembarkiing. I think they're somewhere within the Southern Wilds."
"I don't know anything about it. It's not very well known here anyway. They seemed to come out of nowhere... but I don't think it's a very nice place. They... they're probably going to...."
She suddenly clams up.

Joan Uliar: Joan looks and lays Lilac on the floor "What's wrong?" Rather calmly, though with an air of seriousness

Jake Satomi: After examining Lilac and reaching some conclusion, he looks up at the speaker.
"...going to what?"

Alyssa Scroll: . . . ? "What's happening?"

Joan Uliar: (Oh. I thought Lilac was the one that clammed up <.>)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): She swallows. Tears glimmer in her eyes.
"When they recruit you... they pair you up with someone else. Someone close to you. Our older brother... he's in the woods to the south... they're probably going to execute him now...*
She breaks down. Her brother looks like he's too physically shocked to cry.
"We thought that when we turned against them we could travel south and try to rescue our partners too... but that's not going to happen now."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Everyone's dead!"

Alyssa Scroll: "And that'd be partially our fault," she mutters.

Joan Uliar: Joan looks at the two, flabbergasted, and sighs. Its clear she knows they aren't lying

Alyssa Scroll: The vulpine looks to the officer, "I realize you've told us a lot, but I feel like we've dodged one important thing." She stops for a moment, then sighs, "That green wildcat wearing white. You know 'em at all?"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (You missed the combat. That's probably a good thing. Also, the party know who's causing all the trouble now. And Lilac's woken up.)

Vega (CLAW): (Vega still on high ground?)

"He must be with the Scarves. The one's they've converted, anyway. I hear they were landing some wildcat infantry later on. The tigers aren't too happy about it... is she.. is she ok?"
Lilac staggers slowly to her knees... but she doesn't rise any further. She seems badly dazed.
"Urgh... what... where am I? Why am I?"

She looks like she isn't fully aware of her surroundings yet.

Joan Uliar: Joan puts a hand on Lilacs shoulder "HOld on... you've been out for at least 3 hours" Joan speaks in a calming voice, trying to keep the Lilac from falling over

Roland: Roland kicks himself at the realization that the other party members are doing a much better job of asking questions than he is.
And then Lilac wakes up, thus dashing any further thoughts he might have had. For a moment, he forgets that he's currently holding a wounded, barely alive officer at gunpoint

Jake Satomi: "Yeah, she's fine," he answers the question directed at Alyssa. He's also supporting Lilac if she needs it.

Alyssa Scroll: She looks over to the purple dragon and smirks, "How was your nap, princess? Dreamed of magic sheep?"

Jake Satomi: He has a response for the girl ready, but waits for Lilac to do something else...

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The officer suddenly scrambles for the door!

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Ok... obviously last week it was all hands on deck scrabbling to get the rules rewritten. The end result is that while I do have quite a lot of story to tell as you might have gathered... I don't have any more combat planned out. I'm basically saying this to give people the heads up that the "action" part of the session is basically over at this point. I really did try my best.

Jake Satomi: The dragon sighs and walks over to the officer.
"We'll deal with you later," he says, just before knocking her out with a targeted zap to the back of the neck. You'd think this would cause convulsions, but it wouldn't, since there's no direct muscle stimulation.*

Vega: Vega just observes how the things get settled here

Roland: "...now that that's out of the way. We have new information, Lilac has woken up, and we should start getting out of here."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac just stares at the party as this is happening, obviously completely confused.
"Could someone please tell me what is going on here... who..."
She notes the burns and makes the connection. A note of pure coldness comes into her voice.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "Why are you here?" She charges.

Joan Uliar: "LILAC WAIT!"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (...)
(...charges, as in asks the party a pointed question.)

Jake Satomi: (I was gonna say something, but first, who is she asking?)

Joan Uliar: Joan looks around the room. WHo exactly is she talking to?

Alyssa Scroll: Alyssa unwraps the unconscious officer and holds her down, sighing. She keeps herself cuffed to her.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac also twists round to face the two youths the party rescued.
"Who are they? and why are they dressed like that? What happened here?"

Vega: Vega just reloads her grapple gun with the cables on the floor, as they talk

Joan Uliar: "They're people who didn't want to be here."

Roland: "That's a question with a very lengthy explanation. The short of it is that Jake here foolishly 'rescued' you from the hospital and drew the entire city to us, so we've had to escape down into the tunnels.
We were drawn into a trap because we tried to save a boy, and we dealt with it."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): The two civilians just stare at Lilac nervously, obviously willing to let the party answer.

Alyssa Scroll: She looks at Lilac and sighs, "Yeah no--the lot of us here are complete idiots."

Joan Uliar: Joan nods a bit, and steps a single step away from Jake "Yeah..."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac stares blankly at Roland... and her neck twists round to Jake. She looks at him blankly for a moment, then...
"WHY?!!!"
She sounds more bewildered than angry.

Alyssa Scroll: She snickers, "Yes, Jake. Please explain your idiocy to the group."

Joan Uliar: Joan smirks, and steps a bit closer to Alyssa "I think I'm understanding how this goes now"

Jake Satomi: "We don't know Haixi's involvement exactly, but he was behind the attack on you in the cave. He planned to frame you and keep you safely locked up. It was a very close call, but we got you out of the hospital and healed. Gong and Neera are missing in action. These," he gestures at the soldiers and officer, "are imperial invaders from the Lost Isles. They've started recruiting and plan to move in three days. Any other questions?"

Roland: Roland taps his foot as he realizes Jake didn't answer Lilac's question.

Joan Uliar: "...and Haixi is just an idiot by what everyone said in here"

Alyssa Scroll: She nods at Joan's comment. She also smiles at Joan, "Glad to see you're getting this, now."

Jake Satomi: (She'll have to be more specific. I did mention the motivation for getting her out.)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac's expression becomes stern. She looks to the other party members, obviously looking for elaborations.

Joan Uliar: Joan scratches her neck a bit "So... uh... we at least have a few answers now"

Alyssa Scroll: Alyssa shrugs at the dragon, "Unless you happen to know a Queen Perera, then we're not getting anywhere."

Joan Uliar: (Lets not forget, she has some body armor and a wood shield now :V)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): *Then, suddenly, she clutches her forehead in one hands. A tired, irritable look comes onto her face.
She looks more worn and more burdened than any of you have ever seen her.*
"I know..." she mutters, "I know about the set-up. I thought it was a dream, but..."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): She suddenly bursts into tears.

Joan Uliar: "??" Joan walks over and kneels next to her, handing the dragon a loose part of her cloak to dry into

Alyssa Scroll: She gives a smile full of hope, "Oh good! We're getting somehwere."

Jake Satomi: Jake pauses and blinks. He's not really sure what to do in a situation like this, other than walk over to her and... be there, I guess. Which he does.

Vega: "Just breath in and out guys... no need to rush" Vega said softly, she then looks around the area as if doing a overwatch

Roland: Roland is taken aback by Lilac's sudden crying.
He holsters his revolver and slings the shotgun around his shoulder, but otherwise lets the party members handle it.
He starts wondering about exactly why he attacked the officer in the first place..

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac slowly calms down. An angry, bitter look comes onto her face.
"I led the Scarves into the trap... just like the plan was. We couldn't tell them what was going on... we were afraid that fighting would break out. I expected that. It was the risk I took."
She shivers.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "...but when I saw the guards just standing there, letting them kill me."
She goes still and silent, slumping.
"I hoped I wouldn't wake up. I could hear their officer calling to them, telling them to stay back. Telling them they could set off a riot."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): She goes quiet for a moment.
"Not one of them moved to help. No one. I don't even know how they got me out."
"...and tomorrow, the entire city is going to hate me too."

Jake Satomi: "...they didn't get you out, Lilac. First responders did, after the cave-in."
he soberly informs her.

Joan Uliar: "THe scarves are safe, actually. They're at an old hideout of thiers" She says, reassuringly

Jake Satomi: "We overheard a conversation between Haixi and Wanjian. They held the soldiers back on purpose."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac closes her eyes for a second. Then, she cries, angrily this time...
"WHY?!!"
She goes into a rant.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "All I've done is try to advise him and lead him in the right direction. I listened to what he said... I even went through with his idea to capture the Scarves if it meant he would have to accept they weren't responsible? So why? Why did he want me dead?!"
"And what was that?! What do you mean 'the whole city's after you'?"

Jake Satomi: "Well... we have the recording. They're after us because we got you out of the hospital. We... had to disable some guards along the way."

Joan Uliar: "Basically, the Quartermaster told them to check up on you... and the group that went to the hospital broke you out"

Alyssa Scroll: "We're a very intelligent group, I must remind you."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac suddenly seems to deflate.
"So... that's it. You're the last group that wasn't... tainted by all of this. And now you're in the thick of it too..."
She hangs her head.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "How are we supposed to come back from this?"
She sighs and turns her head.
"You were the last independent actors in the city. The last people who... might have changed people's minds. If you're being hunted now... if they think you've kidnapped me."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): She pauses.
"I don't know what else to do now. We can't beat this... Perera? We can't beat an army by ourselves! We need someone on our side! If the whole town thinks you're kidnappers..."

Joan Uliar: "Selin..." Joan says "We still have there"

Alyssa Scroll: "If we have any friends left that trust us over anyone, we could always fetch them."

Roland: "For better or worse, we do still have the Red Scarves."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (GM shutting up and listening to ideas)

Jake Satomi: "We only came down here into the tunnels because of the drill that was supposed to find us. And this is where we found out about Perera and how they've managed to infiltrate the slums and tunnels. It's no wonder the Scarves have lost territory--this is a nation-state's advance invasion force."
"They leveraged the disquiet about the energy shortage to recruit here and stay hidden in the slums."

Joan Uliar: "...playing right into the fears of people..." Joan lays down on the floor

Alyssa Scroll: "Smart--you've gotta admit."

Jake Satomi: "Feindishly so. But that still doesn't explain Haixi's motives, and his willing blind eye to this over the scapegoat of the Scarves."

Joan Uliar: Joan nods, still laying on the ground, rifle and RPG off her back, and her cowl being used as a makeshift pillow
"Being an idiot who is as gullible as him?"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "...I can explain that part." Lilac mutters darkly.

Jake Satomi: "What I propose is to keep looking down here for clues and information. You can explain that on the way, and listen to the recording of Haixi's exchange. We have the officer as prisoner, and the others on our side now... right?" he looks over to them.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "...right." the girl says nervously. Her voice strengthens, "I can promise you we'll never do anything to help these people again if we can avoid it. And... sir? Miss Lilac?"
She looks around the room.

Joan Uliar: Joan laid there. How long have they even slept?

Jake Satomi: "Hm?"

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (The Senlin team are running on about three hours sleep. To be honest, they should probably be taking some pretty nasty modifiers to combat by now.)

Joan Uliar: And with that laying there, Joan's eyes start to close

She hesitates.

Alyssa Scroll: She raises a brow at the girl

Jake Satomi: "Well, the people in charge of the government are the ones who caused this mess. So I doubt that."

Alyssa Scroll: "I doubt it, but that's not that bad of a plan."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (You guys are advancing it. These are all potential options you can pursue.)

Jake Satomi: "Lilac holds some sway in the guard, which is why Haixi wanted to take her out of the picture."

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Lilac goes to scowl, but she ends up looking more worn and upset than angry.

Roland: "That General Taul comes to mind. If it were possible to get to her in the middle of a city-wide manhunt, do you think it could work?"

Jake Satomi: (how long do manhunts like this usually last?)

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): "General Taul was supposed to be one of the most respected generals in the city," Lilac says, a little of her energy returning, "If anyone will listen, it's her."
(Roland, you would know that while the intense phase of a manhunt would die down in a few hours, the city would remain on high alert for days or even weeks afterwards. Moving around the city may prove tricky.)
(Also... there might be something important you guys ought to tell Lilac.)

Jake Satomi: (Which important thing?)

Roland: Roland paces around for a bit to think.
"Oh. Right, there's something else. Your friend, the dog, she's gone missing. Carol should still be with General Taul, though."

Lilac nearly flies into a panic.

As Lilac listens to the remainder of the recording... as she listens to Haixi disparage her friends and taunt her about how powerless they are, her eyes go wide and almost seem to strain slightly.*
The first sign of just how angry she really is comes as she picks up a solid metal bar and breaks it over her knee like it was made of plastic.
She is physically shaking with rage.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): She then curls up into a dragon boost

Roland: Roland was watching detachedly when she broke the metal bar, but when she winded up into a Dragon Boost, he is suddenly on his guard, his hand not far from his weapons.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): (Basically, the party fought their way into a sort of bastion area at the far end of the tunnel, where some hold-out soldiers were hiding. They killed most of them, captured their commander and saved a girl and her brother who were involved in a revolt against them. It turns out that a foreign nation, the Lonely Isle, headed by one Queen Perera, has been recruiting disaffected youths from the slums to help them lay the groundwork for a foreign invasion.
Lilac then woke up, and the party discussed their next moves and filled her in. Lilac pointed out they needed someone's help, and they couldn't beat Perera alone.
Solutions offered were to check Senlin, go to the Scarves and present evidence to someone within the guard or army.

L(ou)is: As it is, the system is alright just the macros that are somehat not working

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): It's more than that. Macros can't cover every situation this rulebook throws at it.
Traditional rolling is going to come up a lot.
Not to mention you guys ended up using just about every weapon bar what you had set as your primary weapons. :p

GrumpiestVulcan: With as high-powered as the characters are, I think the stats are fine. Just need tougher and more enemies to make it a challenge.

Slightly Dazed Bystander (GM): Yeah. I also could have been more ruthless.
On the other hand, I could see that people were hanging back and unwilling to advance.
And that was a sensible decision, because those soldiers would have just chucked two grenades down at you if you'd gone straight through the doorway.
What that fight needed was another way to win it.
