  1. Vote Chess - a few guidelines

  3. "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men."

  13.
  14. This group is dedicated to the "Modern Defense". We play 1...g6 against whatever White can throw at us (except the anti-Modern 1.b3 in which case we will probably abort the game).
  15.
  16. Despite the similarity of the Modern Defense and the Pirc Defense we strive to avoid lines of the Pirc Defense. The primary difference between the Modern and the Pirc is usually but not always an early ...Nf6.
  17.
  18. Another group has been created to play the Pirc and many of us belong to both groups. Click HERE to join. The same applies to the King's Indian Defense. If you want to play the KID you should consider joining the 1.d4 Nf6 Indians or any of the several KID groups.
  19.
  20. The Modern Defense (B06) begins 1...g6 with the fianchetto 2...Bg7 following next move.
  21.
  22. Our games typically allow three days for us to make a move.
  23.
  24. --- The first 48 hrs is for the suggesting and discussion of moves.
  25.
  26. --- Votes are far more effective when submitted during the final 24 hours.
  27.
  28. Generally speaking, we need discussion more than we need votes.
  29.
  30. Please do not encourage others to vote early by announcing that you have already voted before the 24 hour mark. By the same token please do not post the current votes until the 24 hour mark.
  31.
  32. Please do not treat our group games as your personal game. Do not interfere with what we are trying to accomplish by voting for moves which are not being discussed in the game forum. You may vote for any move, as long as you tell us about it first! It is not necessary to explain why you think it is a good move but of course that is helpful.
  33.
  34.
  35.
  36. Chess engines are not allowed in our vote chess games. Referencing archived computer games or analysis is also not allowed. Please refrain from mentioning computer analysis in our vote chess forums.
  37.
  38.
  39.
  40. If you see a blunder or a bad move being suggested by a teammate, please be polite and constructive in your appraisal of the move. Do not scold individuals or the team for making bad choises. We learn from our mistakes. Rudeness, foul language, disrespectful comments, flame wars, trolling, will not be tolorated. Until further notice we are all friends in here.
  41.
  42. If you get madand decide to quit the game or if you accidentally click on [Leave Game] you will see a pop-up which will give you a second chance to stay with the game (suggested). If you still decide to quit, that action is irreversible.

  53. Our vote chess games are 3 days per move:
  54.
  55.
  56.
  57. A) Do not vote for moves which are not being discussed. There are NO exceptions to this rule. If your move of choice has not been suggested then suggest it!
  58.
  59. B) First 2 days = suggest, discuss, analyse. Final 24 hours = vote. Occasionally there are exceptions to this rule.
  60.
  61.
  62. This enables us to provide quality instructional group games for you and our other members. Please do not interfere with what we are trying to accomplish. We are doing this for people just like YOU.
  63. Voting for moves that have not been discussed WILL NOT make you a better chess player.
  64. Voting on the first day of our turn WILL NOT make you a better chessplayer.
  65. Analysis, patience and discussion WILL make you a better chessplayer.
  66. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  67. If you do not agree with the manner in which we play our games then I strongly suggest you find another group where you can play vote chess. There are thousands to chose from.
  68. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  69. You must submit a comment in this forum indicating that you understand and agree with this policy. Anyone who does not submit a comment in this forum will be removed from our Vote Chess games.
  70.
  71. Be advised: The removal process will remove you from ALL vote chess games in this group. Once you have been removed from a game you cannot be re-instated. However you will be eligible to join future VC games as they are started, subject to the same conditions.
