it occurs to me in the absence of any non-biblical corroboration of "miracle jesus" in the 1st century what we really have is a *rumor* about someone rising from the dead etc and this rumor went viral to the extent that 40 to 50 odd years later believers of the rumor wrote a back dated history which fully elaborated and enhanced what the rumor had come to be by the time of their writing.

Therefore in the absence of non-biblical corroboration Christianity can only be historically *proven* to have been a popularly believed rumor.  It may or may not be more than this but nothing can be historically proven about it beyond the obvious fact it was a rumor which was believed much like Rastafarians believe Hailie Sellasie was God incarnate.
