  2. Nah, Hodaka mostly only appreciates people younger than him and makes an effort not to allow the adult world to corrupt them, so I wouldn't say he's that far off in that sense. Still kinda cringe though.
  3. There are 2 other characters with more adult issues who, in turn, view Hodaka himself essentially the same way, so Shinkai ends up going further with the generational parallel meme than he has in his previous films.
  4. It's also kind of got a postmodern aspect to it since a lot of the humour comes from kids behaving like adults - I wasn't really a fan but most of the audience (including a friend I went to see it with) thought it was hilarious, so come to your own conclusions.
  5. I don't think it's a bad film, just a misguided one. I'd say to wait for BDs since I got more out of rewatching the climax through camrip in my own time than I did watching in the cinema.
