  2. {Act I}
  3. [Chapter VII]
  4. |Nocturnal Doubts|
  5. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  6.
  7. >Each morning is a repeat of the last
  8. >She performs her daily ritual for you everyday
  9. >It has become 'your' daily ritual
  10. >Something both of you share on the deepest level of intimacy
  11. >She has resumed her court duties, leaving you a lot of free time until her intermission
  12. >These times you find yourself talking with staff or gaurdponies to kill time
  13. >You even offer to help out around the palace just to be occupied
  14. >Today you sit with a nice mare by the name of North Star
  15. >Who is new in the castle
  16. >She works in the kitchen, she's the one who made the superb pie you and Celestia shared the previous night
  17. >To which you compliment her
  18. >But your pleasant chitchat doesn't last long as she bows mid-sentence
  19. >Celestia approaches from behind you, eyeing the kitchen mare intently
  20. "Hi Tia, intermission already?"
  21. >You smile warmly
  22. >"Anon, who is this?"
  23. >You turn to the kitchen mare who remained in the kneeling position
  24. "Oh, this is North Star, she's the one who baked the pie for us last night. Not only that, she's really fun to talk to."
  25. >A smile creeps onto the kitchen mare's face
  26. >Celestia is unamused and will have nothing of the sort
  27. >"Anon. I won't have you talking to strange mares behind my back."
  28. "I'm sorry what?"
  29. >Celestia begins calling for the guard and the kitchen mare is hoisted up from her hooves
  30. "Celestia, what are you doing?"
  31. >"I won't have you consort with lowly mares who are only after my husband. Guards, I want her out!"
  32. >This is insane, all you did was exchange small talk
  33. >How is any of this ethical
  34. >North Star begs the Princess for mercy where there is none
  35. >She is dragged out of the palace, never to be seen again
  36. >You stand there in disbelief
  37. >This isn't the Celestia you fell in love with
  38. >But it appears that it is
  39. >You feel her wing wrap around you and she pulls you close to her body
  40. >"It's alright dear. I forgive you. It's not like you meant to betray me, so long as you learn your lesson, I'll forgive you of anything. I love you."
  41. >She nuzzles into your neck and you instinctively run your hand through her ethereal mane hesitantly
  42. "Love you too.."
  43.
  44. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  45.
  46. >The rest of the day passes in normalcy
  47. >The only incident happening being the firing of the kitchen mare
  48. >"Anon, good news! The preparations have been completed, we can marry at on Sunday!"
  49. >Celestia trots over to you and wraps a hoof around your body
  50. >You can physically feel how happy she is
  51. >A few hours ago you'd be willing to say the same
  52. >Now you're unsure of yourself more than anything
  53. >Nevertheless you wrap your arms around her in a tight hug
  54. "Tia, I was thinking. Which is more important, the marriage, or the sex?"
  55. >She's surprised by the question, but she is steadfast
  56. >"The wedding of course. The consummation is but a bonus!"
  57. >She pecks you on the cheek and readies for bed
  58. >You feel that your question was misplaced and strange
  59. >But her answer confirms it
  60. >This mare truly, and absolutely loves and adores you
  61. >But your mind always replays earlier's events
  62. >For her to fire someone just for talking to you
  63. >Maybe her love -is- just an obsession
  64. >You steal a glace at her as she climbs into bed
  65. >Or maybe she's protecting you and wants only whats best for you
  66. >She notices your stare and pats the empty space beside her with a hoof
  67. >"Come dear, don't keep me waiting."
  68. >Suddenly, all your doubts melt away and feel you are with the mare you fell in love with
  69. >Your wedding is in five days
  70. >Your last conversation of the night is what kind of cake would be served
