  1. >"There goes Anonymous again, off to Roseluck's shop for a beautiful bouquet of her finest flowers. I always wonder who he gives them to."
  2. >Gossiping mares.
  3. >You were quite used to hearing that by now, considering just how often you had been doing this for almost three months now.
  4. >Had it already been so long?
  5. >Day in and day out.
  6. >You would go to see Roseluck for the flowers.
  7. >She always had the flowers you wanted.
  8. >Next, you would head to the town square where one of the Apple family would be peddling their harvest.
  9. >You would always pick the brightest, shiniest and sweetest apple you could get.
  10. >She simply adored apples.
  11. >Than, you would make your way to her current home.
  12. >It was a little bit of a walk, what with the place she was rooming being near the edge of Ponyville,
  13. >Your long strides already had you past that familiar sign.
  14. >Ponyville General.
  15. >The hospital.
  16. >She was sick
  17. >Very sick.
  18. >That's why you did this everyday.
  19. >Trying to make her feel better in your own way.
  20. >Some lovely flowers and a little treat.
  21. >With some effort you summon up your smile and walk through those glass doors.
  22. >"Welcome to ---- Oh Anonymous... she's in her room."
  23. >Nurse Redheart.
  24. >Kind enough to most, but a terror if you were bothering her patients.
  25. "She doing any better?"
  26. >You would ask the same question everyday.
  27. >And everyday she would answer...
  28. >"Worse."
  29. >Her tone was grave.
  30. >That wasn't right.
  31. "What do you mean? How could she be worse?"
  32. >Redheart sighs and walks with you to her room.
  33. >None of this was right.
  34. >"Her aphasia is starting to effect her short and long term memories now."
  35. "Aphasia?"
  36. >You didn't understand.
  37. >She was hospitalized for magical over-exhaustion.
  38. >Redheart shakes her head.
  39. >"She couldn't remember who I was, Anonymous. She's also forgetting other things now too. She can't even lift a spoon with her magic."
  40. >You could feel a pit growing in your stomach.
  41. >She was always so proud of her magic.
  42. >Always so proud to just be her.
  43. >Now she couldn't even manage something so simple.
  44. >You arrive with Nurse Redheart at her door.
  45. >"I'll let her know you are coming in."
  46. >You could hear Nurse Redheart trotting in and announcing you.
  47. >You heard a soft voice respond.
  48. >It didn't sound like her at all.
  49. >She was always liked to be the center of attention.
  50. >It was only a few moments before Nurse Redheart appeared from the room.
  51. >"She is... confused as to why anyone would be here. She says that she doesn't have any friends.... Anonymous, are you absolutely sure you want to go in there?"
  52. >You nod.
  53. >Redheart sighs and moves out of the way.
  54. >"Just hit the call button if you need anything."
  55. >With those words, you entered the sunlit room.
  56. >There was an azure mare with a light icy blue mane laying under the bed covers.
  57. >Trixie.
  58. >"The nurse said Trixie had a guest but she certainly didn't expect this! Are you one of Trixie's fans?"
  59. >Outwardly, you smiled politely.
  60. >Inwardly, you cried.
  61. "Y-yeah. A big fan, I heard you were feeling a little under the weather lately so I thought that I'd bring you some flowers."
  62. >Her face was full of interest as her eyes wandered over you.
  63. >"Trixie would have you know that she has never seen anything quite like you before, and she had done shows for minotaurs!"
  64. >You place the flowers on the small table beside her.
  65. >Her face scrunches in confusion.
  66. >"What type of flowers are these? Trixie can't recall the name."
  67. "Mouse's Ear. I thought the blue matched your coat."
  68. >Trixie's face split in a grin.
  69. >"You have a keen eye for colour Mr... err... What should Trixie call you?"
  70. >You sat down on a little chair at her bedside and played along.
  71. "Anonymous, or just Anon."
  72. >"And just what are you Mr.Anon?"
  73. "I'm a human, from a place called Earth."
  74. >Her interest seemed to peak.
  75. >"Earth? Trixie has never heard of a place called that before. Tell her more."
  76. >You sat and told her everything about Earth.
  77. >As you did, your mind recalled your first meeting with her.
  78. >All the same questions.
  79. >You gave her all the same answers.
  80. >Hours past in that little room as you told her of science, vehicles, anything and everything.
  81. >Slowly the sunset and your conversation started to stall.
  82. >She was starting to ask the same questions again and again.
  83. >Nurse Redheart came to the door to tell you that visiting hours were over.
  84. >"Mr.Anonymous, would you be so kind as to come and see T....?"
  85. >Her face became puzzled, as if lost in deep thought.
  86. >"Come by tomorrow?"
  87. >Strange.
  88. >You nod.
  89. >As you leave the room you could feel her eyes roaming over you again.
  90. >"I have never seen anything like that before."
  91. >You swallow hard and continue down the hall towards the entrance.
  92. >As you headed for the exit a voice from reception called out to you.
  93. >"Anonymous, might I ask... Those flowers that you bring everyday... What are they called?"
  94. >You look at Nurse Redheart, as a tear falls from your eye.
  95. "Roseluck calls them Mouse's Ear, but back home they have another name..."
  96. >Seeing your distress, Redheart comes beside you and presses her head against your leg.
  97. >You crouched and pulled the nurse mare close.
  98. >You knew you would come back again.
  99. >Over and over.
  100. >With the same flowers
  101. >The same apple.
  102. >The same answers.
  103. >Each and everyday.
  104. >You whispered the answer in her ear.
  105. >It hurt to say it.
  106. >It hurt because they were wrong.
  107. >You cried at the bitter irony of that flower's name.
  108. >That flower that's petals looked like her coat.
  109. >That flower that was her favourite.
  110. >The flower called Forget-me-not.
