  1. hi, i live in amsterdam and wanted to share some experiences too. i read everything in this thread and forum with slight jealousy since theres literally 0 information about this in the netherlands, so i have to go search for it myself.
  2.
  3. i bought a voucher for the "premium" somewhere end of december. i got a mail with a bunch of powerpoint slides with information regarding the car, things that are basically already known here. told me they expect a smart #1 in the dealership for viewing for one (1)!!! day on the 20th of january and that they didnt know which version of the smart #1 would come, thats the last thing i ever heard from them.
  4.
  5. i reached out to them earlier this week to ask if the car still came on the 20th of january, answer was yes. and that there was a test drive possibility for 30 minutes at the end of saturday, i figured why not so i signed up for that.
  6.
  7. friday i go to the dealer in amsterdam to meet the smart #1, and to my surprise it was the pro+ version. i dont think a single dealership in germany even got the pro+ laying around? anyway, it already had 2500+~ km on the odometer so it was used already.
  8.
  9. everything that has been said about the interior, im not gonna repeat all of it - its a great place to be in short. but it was noticeable that some key features of the premium version werent present, such as the head up display which was covered by some plastic, clearly showing "if you just paid a bit more there wouldve been a head up display here".
  10.
  11. fast forward to the next day for the test drive.
  12.
  13. i arrive there asking for the test drive booked on 16h, but apparently that slot was already booked by someone else. either way they told the other people to wait so that i could test drive first, how nice of them.
  14.
  15. i parked my current car, a smart fortwo electric drive, right next to the smart #1 pro+ for a comparison, the pictures can be seen in the gallery: https://www.smart-1-forum.de/gallery/
  16.
  17. the smart #1 pro+ was charging with close to 20kw, i thought it could only charge with 7.4kw, on 1 phase? very interesting.
  18.
  19. i give the keys to my current car to get a value on it, because ideally i'd like to give my current smart fortwo and buy a new smart #1, more about this later.
  20.
  21. i enter the car and do my test drive on a pre designated route, i was not allowed to drive without a staff member of theirs, as required by their insurance. it was basically a short 20 min test drive through the city and land roads up to 80kmh.
  22.
  23. the car felt solid and a joy to drive, suspension was very comfy, not too sporty. the height of the car is noticeable since the top of the car seems to hang into a corner, not sure how to explain. recuperation on the standard mode is comparable to putting the car into B comparing to other electric cars. the "strong" setting is crazy annoying because it starts braking lightly and then goes really deep in the brakes, simply not a nice experience. e-pedal works, has to be enabled every time, doesnt affect the recuperation. smart pilot is nice, works on low speed too, keeps distance from the car infront, has view over multiple cars on multiple lanes.
  24.
  25. car is driven back and i get the keys back of my own smart fortwo.
  26.
  27. the salesperson was very honest with me, you can't trade in your car for the smart #1 (sure, my smart fortwo electric is 9 year old and has 140000km+ on the odometer, but they simply dont take any trade in cars for the smart #1). and then proceeded to tell me how it works with the new smart #1 and how it affects them as a dealership.
  28.
  29. we all know that the smart #1 is sold from a "agentur" model and you basically buy the car directly from the importer and not the dealership, just like how tesla did for years, smart does the same.
  30.
  31. so, it was already known that they cant shave of anything of the price, but this also means dealers dont really get much profit from selling the #1 to people, theres no incentive to do so. the salesperson told me they get €225 "service and processing fee" for each smart #1 that is given to a customer at their dealership. its why they cant/dont want to do much regarding the price of the car or the car you want to get rid off.
  32.
  33. furthermore the complete lack of information and support from the new smart HQ really puts them off. to give you an idea, the smart #1 pro+ that i managed to test drive, they had to basically beg smart HQ for a smart #1 to showcase to people, but smart HQ didnt want to have anything to do with it. the dealership told smart HQ that they wanted to buy some cars to showcase in the dealership, but smart HQ told them that the smart #1 have to be registered and license plates should be put on them within a week of receiving them, meaning it will start depreciating. normally cars in the dealership arent registered until they have to be sold. as if this wasnt crazy enough, dealerships are treated the same was and end customers, they dont get preferential treatment here, so thats why they couldnt get a smart #1 in the dealerships for viewing as well.
  34.
  35. this also explains why they managed to get a smart #1 for testdrives with german license plates on it, for 1 whole day. its going back to germany basically as i type this now.
  36.
  37. regarding delivery/waiting times: they have no information and are guessing "somewhere end of april" you can order the car, and it will be delivered end of june is what they expect. i had a hard time believing this after reading all the messages here saying "you can order yours on wednesday!!" but i guess the netherlands gets a way different treatment than in germany?
  38.
  39. either way, great car to drive in, but dealerships not really being motivated to do anything with the smart #1 puts me off. what happens if you need service or some other warranty issues? call smart hq in china and wait it out? mercedes got a lot of a less say in this than i thought.
  40.
  41. lets see if smart NL will give me more information about my voucher on wednesday...
