  1. [Twilight 1]
  2. “No, that’s not it.”
  3. >Twilight groans as she scratches out another line of lyrics.
  4. >Nothing is working for her tonight, as though all the magic in the world wouldn’t be enough to compete with the Sirens.
  5. >Why did it have to be music-based magic?
  6. >Anxiety knots itself in her stomach before she shakes it off and grits her teeth.
  7. >A little more; just a little bit more.
  8. >The answer’s sure to be with in her reach if she just-
  9. >“Hey Twilight.”
  10. >The pony-turned human freezes at the unexpected sound; her eyes wide and mouth hanging ever so slightly open as the pen drops from between her lips and clatters against the counter.
  11. >Gulping, she turns towards the door and sees a rather tired looking Sunset Shimmer smiling at her.
  12. >“You’re up late.”
  13. >The Equestrian visitor nods, tearing her eyes away from Princess Celestia’s former protégé and looking back to the lyrics she’s been struggling with.
  14. “Just, trying to get a grasp on the counter-spell.”
  15. >Sunset approaches the table but Twilight instinctively leans forward over the scratched up paper, offering up a sheepish smile.
  16. >The one-time-pony frowns, but walks past anyway and opens up the refrigerator.
  17. “After all, we only get one shot at this.”
  18. >The red-headed girl’s smile returns as she looks back at her previously pony pal.
  19. >“We really are lucky you’re here.”
  20. >Twilight sighs as Sunset’s nose wrinkles.
  21. “That’s what everyone keeps telling me.”
  22. >“Who could possibly need so much whipped cream?”
  23. >Despite the rather somber atmosphere, Twilight bites back a giggle.
  24. >Pinkie Pie is Pinkie Pie, no matter what world.
  25. >The tired transformed teen watches as Sunset roots around in the fridge, saying something about the lyrics, or Twilight’s current predicament and the weight that must be on her shoulders.
  26. >Honestly though, the purple-haired girl would rather talk about anything else but those two topics.
  27. >If anything, a break from them might give her a clue as to what it is that she needs to complete the counter-spell.
  28. >So, she decides to change the focus to Sunset.
  29.
  30. >After a quick glance over the reformed rebel, Twilight settles on a new line of conversation and decides to start probing her companion.
  31. “Sunset?”
  32. >The green-eyed girl turns with a grunt of surprise and a sheepish smile; a thick wad of whipped cream resting along the length of her thumb.
  33. >“What’s up Twilight?”
  34. “Have you gotten taller?”
  35. >Sunset’s finger misses her mouth completely, smearing the cream along her lips, around her mouth, and along her cheek as she chokes.
  36. >“Wh-what would make you think that?”
  37. >The girl’s eyes fall to the former bully’s middle, and Sunset feels her own gaze being drawn downward as well.
  38. >They both stare at her exposed navel for a few moments, before the flustered female gives a quiet laugh and waves her hand back and forth.
  39. >“Oh, that? Come on Twilight, it’s, um, totally human fashion now to show off a little skin.”
  40. “Well what about these?”
  41. >Still pressing, Twilight moves closer and tugs on the sleeves of Sunset’s purple top.
  42. “They hardly come halfway down your forearms and they look so snug.”
  43. >Sunset struggles, stammering stupidly as she tries to piece together some line of coherent thought.
  44. >Which gives the purple provoker a chance to get an up close and personal look at the girl’s clothing.
  45. >The sun symbol in the center of her pajama top, reminiscent of Sunset’s cutie mark, seems a little warped over her chest, as the flames on the sides seem longer than the vertical ones.
  46. >Not to mention the small signs of strain surrounding Sunset’s rather impressive bust.
  47. >Twilight brings a hand up to her own breasts, feeling a little self-conscious at their lack of size before reaching out and-
  48. >“T-T-Twilight, d-”
  49. >Sunset whimpers as the other pony-girl gives her breast a second squeeze, but the visiting Princess is far too enamored with her latest observations to notice.
  50. >Through a series of awkward gropes, with hands that seem less inclined to do as she would like than usual, Twilight struggles to palm Sunset’s sweater puppies.
  51.
  52. >Granted, her own hands aren’t especially large and perhaps Applejack might have more success, but the truth of the matter would remain the same.
  53. >Sunset is stacked.
  54. >“Twi…”
  55. >The breathless sigh of the other girl’s voice snaps Twilight back to reality.
  56. >Looking up, she sees that Sunset is beyond red-faced, her green eyes averted as she squirms under the Princess’ prolonged touch.
  57. >“Could you, move your hands?”
  58. “Oh, right.”
  59. >Twilight gulps and jerks her hands away, earning a relieved sigh from the redhead.
  60. >There’s a twinge of regret as their rather enjoyable weight disappears, but the memory of their softness remains.
  61. >Of course, with her palms no longer covering Sunset’s chest, Twilight’s treated to a view of two rather stiff indentations in the other girl’s shirt.
  62. >As such, it takes a supreme act of Princessly strength for Twilight to pull her eyes away and stumble back to the countertop.
  63. >Taking a few seconds to catch her breath, Sunset then closes the refrigerator door, visible gooseflesh still running down the length of her bare arms, and around her exposed middle.
  64. >As she washes the sugary mess off her face in the sink, Twilight gulps and decides to press a little more.
  65. “So, when did you notice?”
  66. >“Notice what?”
  67. “Sunset…”
  68. >The redhead sighs, wiping her mouth and looking over her shoulder with a small frown.
  69. >“A few days after the Fall Formal; I just woke up and realized that everything felt odd when I tried to wear it. It’s only gotten worse since.”
  70. >Sunset makes a motion towards her bared middle.
  71. >“As you can probably see, it’s gone from mild discomfort to poorly fitting clothing.”
  72. “And you’ve already gone through the human maturation process?”
  73. >“Puberty?”
  74. >Twilight nods, and Sunset sighs.
  75. >“Yeah, as if you need to remind me of that terrifying time.”
  76. >With a hum and another nod, Twilight turns to a new page, places the pen between her lips and begins writing.
  77. >At once, Sunset scowls and moves over, snatching the writing utensil away, much to Twilight’s irritation.
  78.
  79. “Hey!”
  80. >“Hey yourself. Ask all the questions you like, but I’m not going to become some cross-dimensional science project!”
  81. “But don’t you want to know what’s happening to you?”
  82. >The fiery girl’s expression softens as Twilight frowns up at her.
  83. >“Well, of course I do.”
  84. “Then why don’t you let me help you? After all, if this is magical in nature, then there are no two minds better suited in this world to figure it out.”
  85. >After a moment of thought, Sunset nods and hands the pen back to the Princess.
  86. >“Alright, but I don’t think that we’re going to make any headway. I’ve been dealing with this for a while now and I still can’t figure it out.”
  87. “Well, they say that two heads are better than one, so don’t lose hope yet.”
  88. >Twilight offers a conciliatory smile, which Sunset returns as best she can.
  89. >“All right, then where do we begin?”
  90. “I suppose the best place would be on the night of the Fall Formal.”
  91. >Sunset bobs her head and Twilight continues.
  92. “You’ve had a while to think about what happened, do you remember anything specific?”
  93. >“Aside from the guilt and shame of not only threatening you, but then hypnotically ensnaring the entire school, and turning into a raging she-demon? No, I’d say that pretty much covers it.”
  94. >Sunset’s expression falls as she leans onto the table and buries her face in her arms.
  95. >The Princess gives her a conciliatory pat on the head.
  96. “I think we all remember that, but I’m thinking something that’s specifically related to you. Maybe when you put on the crown?”
  97. >“Power.”
  98. >Glancing up from behind her arms, the green-eyed girl gives Twilight a serious look.
  99. >“I remember feeling genuinely powerful for the first time in since I left Equestria. Not that I was a slouch as a unicorn, but it had been ages since I felt so supremely self-confident in my abilities. I was feeling real, Equestrian magic through my body.”
  100.
  101. >Twilight frowns, but continues writing before asking the next question.
  102. “And after we stopped you?”
  103. >Her lips turning down slightly, Sunset looks thoughtful and then shrugs.
  104. >“Well, I didn’t really feel like I’d been beaten at first; if anything I felt like there was even more that I could do. My whole body tingled with more magic than I could have possibly imagined; it was practically oozing out of my fingertips and I thought I was going to burst! Then the rainbow stopped and so did that feeling. And you know the rest.”
  105. >Twilight writes a little while longer before dropping the pen and looking over her notes.
  106. “That-”
  107. >Sunset leans in closer, both of them reading the page before their eyes meet again.
  108. “That really doesn’t help much.”
  109. >“Ugh.”
  110. >Dropping her head back against the table, Sunset sighs.
  111. >“Well, I appreciate the attempt.”
  112. >Twilight gives the girl another pat on the head.
  113. “There, there, I’m sure that we’ll figure out something before I go back to Equestria.”
  114. >“I sure hope so, because when you came through the portal, I could almost feel my shirt tighten.”
  115. “Well, we’ve figured out that it’s probably magic-related then.”
  116. >Twilight giggles.
  117. >After a moment, Sunset smiles and joins in.
  118. >“Now we just need to find out why it’s happening.”
  119. “We will.”
  120. >“You’re sure you have time for this? I’d hate to distract you from focusing on the counter-spell.”
  121. >At the redhead’s serious expression, Twilight feels her belly knot itself a few times, but she waves her off all the same.
  122. “I’m sure that things will work out fine; besides, what are friends for?”
  123. >Sunset’s face goes hot as she nods and looks away, muttering.
  124. >“Well, I appreciate it. Don’t hesitate to come to me if you get stuck and don’t know where to go for a lead.”
  125. “And the same to you if your situation gets worse.”
  126. >Both girls smile at each other before Sunset gets up and walks to the door.
  127. >She pauses at the hall and glances towards Twilight.
  128.
  129. >“Coming back to the bedroom? The girls might miss you if you’re not there when they wake up.”
  130. >A sheepish smile is the best the Princess can offer in response.
  131. “I’d like to, but I need to stay up a little longer and work on the counter-spell. I’ve got a few ideas I’d like to test out.”
  132. >Cocking her hand on her hip, the redhead shakes her head and smiles.
  133. >“I remember being that studious. Well, don’t stay up too late; there’s more to singing than just writing lyrics, and that includes a good night’s sleep.”
  134. >Twilight waves her off with a laugh and the two ponies-turned-girls part ways.
  135. >It is much, much later when a heavy eyed Twilight stumbles back into Pinkie’s bedroom.
  136. >High stepping her way through the mass of bodies, the Princess flops down onto her designated sleeping spot and closes her eyes.
  137. >Tonight was a bust for the counter-spell, but Twilight can’t help feeling that she made a little progress with Sunset Shimmer.
  138. >Hugging her pillow close to her body, the girl smiles and drifts off to sleep.
  139. >And is almost immediately awakened by a series of shakes.
  140. >“C’mon Twilight, quit fooling around.”
  141. >The light drawl of Applejack’s voice snaps Twilight’s bleary eyes open.
  142. >Aside from the smearing sensation of light all around her, the visitor from Equestria can only make out the faintest of shapes as a few of her friends hover over her.
  143. >“Oh dear, you look absolutely exhausted. We simply must do something about those circles under your eyes.”
  144. >“Cut it out, Rarity, none of us are gonna do anything until we get Sunset outta that bathroom!”
  145. >As the cowgirl chides their fashionista friend, Twilight blinks a few times to clear her vision.
  146. >The two are still bickering off to the side as Rainbow leans over into Twilight’s field of view.
  147. >“Oh good, you’re up.”
  148. “Sort of.”
  149. >Sitting up, Twilight rubs at her forehead and groans.
  150. “What’s going on?”
  151. >With a roll of her eyes, Rainbow jerks her thumb towards the hall.
  152.
  153. >“Sunset’s locked herself in the bathroom and won’t come out. She keeps asking for you.”
  154. >Panic rumbles inside Twilight’s stomach again as she clambers to her feet, nearly knocking Rainbow to the ground in the process.
  155. >Hurrying past an anxious looking Fluttershy and an even more agitated Pinkie Pie, she knocks on the bathroom door.
  156. “Sunset Shimmer?”
  157. >“Twilight?”
  158. >With a sigh of relief, the Princess smiles.
  159. “I’m here.”
  160. >“A-”
  161. >There’s a momentary pause as an audible gulp escapes the other side.
  162. >“Are you alone?”
  163. >Shooing her snooping friends back with a wave of her hand, Twilight nods.
  164. “I’m here.”
  165. >The door creaks open just a touch and Twilight sees a familiar green eye peek out.
  166. >It darts about a few times and, once satisfied, it disappears.
  167. >“Okay, you can come in, but only you.”
  168. >Twilight gives her five friends a warning look before slipping inside and closing the door behind her.
  169. >The sound of labored breathing comes from the toilet behind her.
  170. >“When you look, d-don’t freak out, okay?”
  171. “We talked about this last night Sunset; I’m not going to make a big deal out of this.”
  172. >Taking a deep breath, she turns around.
  173. >Her jaw drops.
  174. “Oh Celestia…”
  175. >“You said you wouldn’t.”
  176. >Sunset mutters to herself as she squirms on the lid, as if trying to hide herself from Twilight’s probing eyes.
  177. >It’s not very successful.
  178. >Her once fitted pant legs now appear to be a pair of high waters, revealing at least a quarter of her calf to the world.
  179. >The space between the waist of her pants and the hem of her shirt has grown as well, where before it was only three finger widths, now Twilight imagines she can fit her entire palm on the exposed flesh, and then some!
  180. >Likewise, Sunset’s sleeves are now up far closer to her elbows, the tighter seams straining towards the front with the sudden surge of size.
  181. >But most of all…
  182. >“Twilight”
  183. >Sunset whimpers, crossing her arms over her chest.
  184. >However even the simple motion fails to contain them, as they move to spill out over the top of her arms.
  185. >“Help…”
  186.
  187.
  188.
  189. [Rarity]
  190.
  191. >Outside the bathroom, Rarity waits with the other four girls, tapping her foot against the carpet.
  192. “Well, those two are certainly taking their time.”
  193. >Pinkie Pie bounces around from one foot to the other, whimpering in protest.
  194. >“The only way this could be any worse is if she started running water!”
  195. >With a slight click of her tongue, the pale girl frowns at her frizzy-haired friend and shakes her head.
  196. “Pinkie, you must calm down; you are a lady after all.”
  197. >“A lady who has to GO!”
  198. >Rarity rolls her eyes but offers a gentle smile and pat on the shoulder.
  199. “There, there, I’m sure that Twilight will be able to coax Sunset out, tout suite.”
  200. >The bouncing girl gives a slight whine just before the doorknob jiggles.
  201. >Five pairs of eyes are drawn to the door as it opens with a creak, Twilight quickly stepping out into the hall again.
  202. >She leaves her hand on the knob, a small wedge of light visible beyond the crack between the door and the frame.
  203. >Taking a deep breath, she addresses them.
  204. >“Girls, something’s gone wrong.”
  205. >“Wrong how, Sugar Cube?”
  206. >Trust Applejack to cut right to the heart of the matter, though Rarity isn’t much feeling like pussy-footing around either.
  207. “Yes darling, what’s happened to put Sunset Shimmer in such a state?”
  208. >With a concerned frown, Twilight looks around and continues.
  209. >“In all honesty, I’m not sure.”
  210. >A quiet groan echoes up from Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.
  211. >Twilight scrambles to recover their attention.
  212. >“But, what we know now is that it has something to do with magic. Probably.”
  213. >“Probably?”
  214. >Rainbow groans again.
  215. >“Probably’s not any better than not being sure!”
  216. >“I know, I know.”
  217. >Waving her hand, Twilight sighs.
  218. >“But I think I can work out what’s happening, if I have enough time.”
  219. >The group lapses into silence for a moment before Rarity steps forward.
  220. “What do you need from us, Twilight?”
  221. >A look of relief spreads across the pony Princess’ face.
  222.
  223. >“Your understanding, for starters, and your assistance would be helpful as well.”
  224. >Pursing her lips, the fashionista nods, and is quickly joined by the other four girls.
  225. >Taking a deep breath, Twilight bobs her head as well and releases her grip on the doorknob.
  226. >“Sunset? You can come out now.”
  227. >After a long moment of stillness, the door opens further and the redhead steps out into the hall.
  228. >As she does, mouths fall loose.
  229. >Eyes widen.
  230. >And words seem to catch in the throat of every girl present.
  231. >At least until Pinkie breaks the silence.
  232. >“Dibs!”
  233. >Zipping by Sunset, she quickly locks herself in the bathroom, much to the distress of an anxious Fluttershy.
  234. >Well, that was hardly the way this conversation should have begun.
  235. >Rarity sighs and tries to drink in the differences surrounding the former fiend-turned-friend.
  236. >Plainly obvious are the two sizeable melons attached to her chest, obvious enough to send a pang through Rarity’s small breasts and right into her heart.
  237. >But more than that, Sunset’s once modest height, which barely had her clearing the diminutive Dash’s stature, now threatens to rival Applejack’s solid frame.
  238. >Perhaps it was even a challenge to her own position as the tallest of the group!
  239. >And, as a result of the rapid growth, Sunset now looks the part of a girl trying to fit into the previous season’s clothing line.
  240. >From three years ago.
  241. >Turning to Twilight, Rarity attempts to enquire again.
  242. “What exactly happened to her?”
  243. >“She grew.”
  244. >Sunset blushes at the rather blunt response from the Princess before cutting into the conversation.
  245. >“That’s all we know for now, at least. Believe me; I’m more curious to find answers than anyone else. But I’ve got bigger problems at the moment.”
  246. >With a small huff, the fashionista nods.
  247. “You certainly do; I doubt that anything in your wardrobe will fit you at this point.”
  248. >The redhead nods, and Rarity looks to the other girls.
  249.
  250. >Well, no time to take charge like the present.
  251. “If it’s all right with all of you, I’d like to take Sunset to the Boutique. Our first priority should be getting her dressed in more suitable attire, and see if we can pull any attention away from her-”
  252. >Words fail the purple-haired girl for a moment as she waves her hand in the air.
  253. “Growth spurt, I suppose.”
  254. >A look of relief crosses the faces of both the pony-girls.
  255. >The door opens behind them and Pinkie trots out, looking very satisfied with herself.
  256. >“That’s bet- Woah!”
  257. >She gawks up at Sunset, then smiles.
  258. >“Hiya, Sunny! How’s the weather up there?”
  259. “Pinkie, don’t embarrass the poor girl.”
  260. >Rarity sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose.
  261. “But, would you be a dear and get me one of your father’s rain jackets?”
  262. >“Okie dokie! But what for?”
  263. >Patting her plucky friend on the cheek, the pale girl smiles.
  264. “Why, smuggling Sunset out in public, of course.”
  265. >With a nod and a bounce, Pinkie hurries off towards the coat closet.
  266. >Twilight makes a small motion with her hand, pulling the girls in close.
  267. >“So it’s settled; Rarity will help Sunset get her clothing situation under control, and the rest of us will go about our day as normal. Remember, the Dazzlings are still out there, so we need to be extra cautious about not letting on that we have magic.”
  268. >The girls nod together as Pinkie comes back with a rather gauche jacket.
  269. >Rarity can almost feel her skin crawl as she handles the worn, rough fabric, but it does its duty and hides most of Sunset’s expanded frame from view.
  270. >The two girls gather their things and head out as the rest of the group begins to map out their plans for the day.
  271. >Thankfully, it’s still early enough in the day where there are few residents out and about, making the trip both brief and uneventful.
  272. >A quick round of fumbling with her keys later and Rarity is locking the door behind the two of them.
  273.
  274. >A stray shade is quickly pulled down, leaving only the artificial light to fill the room.
  275. >With a sigh of relief, she smiles at Sunset.
  276. “Well, that was certainly an adventure, don’t you think?”
  277. >“I suppose.”
  278. >Sliding a few stray hairs behind her ear, the redhead glances around the Boutique with an uncertain frown.
  279. “Well, let’s not waste any time, chop-chop.”
  280. >Clapping her hands together twice, Rarity smiles.
  281. “Slide that filthy thing off and we will get you into something far more fitting for your figure.”
  282. >Sunset obliges, hanging the coat on a hanger by the door and following the pale girl towards the center of the store.
  283. >She winces in irritation as a few seams pop along her arm, leaving her sleeves to hang looser than they had a short while ago.
  284. >“This is getting really obnoxious.”
  285. >Bringing a fabric pencil to her lip for a moment, Rarity’s brow furrows before she smiles and flicks the end at Sunset a few times.
  286. “Well, if it’s causing you that much trouble, why don’t you shed those as well?”
  287. >The color draining from the pony-girl’s face brings a bubbling laugh up, unbidden, from Rarity’s belly.
  288. >“What!?”
  289. >Catching her breath, the fashionista smiles and walks around Sunset with a discerning eye.
  290. “Come now, dear, it’s not like you have anything to be ashamed of; after all we are both girls here. Besides, wouldn’t you feel better if you could breathe a little easier?”
  291. >Despite her anxious looks, the redhead eventually nods and steps out of her pajama bottoms.
  292. >Immediately, Rarity’s eyes begin to slide up and down the exposed skin noting, with some displeasure, that in addition to being longer, the grown girl’s lower body seems somehow firmer and more supple than their previous encounters.
  293. >Perhaps not quite the legs of a dancer or model, but certainly begging to be touched.
  294. >And the way her underwear is pulled up snug, cutting into her hips, well that simply won’t do at all.
  295.
  296. >Which, brings up another question for the fashionista.
  297. “Sunset?”
  298. >“Hm?”
  299. “You aren’t”
  300. >A brief pause as Rarity struggles for a tactful way to ask her question.
  301. >It doesn’t come and so, with a weary sigh, she asks
  302. “You aren’t still wearing your bra, are you?”
  303. >The look of shock on Sunset’s face is enough to give her the answer.
  304. “Well, that’s enough of that then. Off with your top and let’s take a look at the damage.”
  305. >There’s a small nod as the half naked girl pulls her pajama top over her head.
  306. >Or, tries to.
  307. >Her expanded frame makes it somewhat difficult, but after several seconds of wrestling, Sunset finally gets the hem of the shirt over her head.
  308. >As she works to untangle her arms from the too small sleeves, Rarity gives a quiet sigh of disapproval.
  309. >Sure enough, Sunset’s purple, cotton bra is far too small and forcing up a tremendous line of cleavage that threatens to overwhelm her collarbone.
  310. >In that case, her earlier estimates regarding the size of the girl’s chest are probably inaccurate.
  311. >Which, again, has her resisting the urge to grind her teeth in frustration.
  312. >Why always the bad girls?
  313. >“Rarity?”
  314. >Snapping out of her daze, the pale girl sees Sunset standing before her with an anxious grin.
  315. >“Could I get you to help me with my bra? I, I think it’s stuck.”
  316. >As she circles around, Rarity sees that the band has indeed passed the point of acceptable stress.
  317. >Torn seams, visible signs of strain within the band itself.
  318. >Simply put, there is absolutely no salvaging it.
  319. “I hope you aren’t especially attached to this garment, darling.”
  320. >“Why’s that?”
  321. >With a flourish, Rarity takes her scissors and cuts the band with a single snip.
  322. “That’s why.”
  323. >Even from behind, the sudden weight of gravity is noticeable on Sunset’s body.
  324. >The outer slopes of her breasts fall until they hang just outside her chest, pressing into her arms as if demanding some form of contact at all times.
  325. >The redhead gives a sigh of relief, lifting her head up towards the ceiling and groaning.
  326.
  327. >“Oh. Oh wow, that’s worlds better.”
  328. >With a giggle, Rarity twirls her scissors and smiles.
  329. “I thought you would have realized already that I’m a magician when it comes to clothing. Now, let’s get you something that fits a little better.”
  330. >Sunset nods, allowing the charming clothier to work her magic, measuring, writing, grumbling and measuring again.
  331. >And the groping.
  332. >There’s a great deal of groping.
  333. >Much as she doesn’t want to admit it, Sunset’s sizeable breasts feel absolutely wonderful in Rarity’s hands.
  334. >The way the flesh seems to fill in the space between her fingers when they spread is almost heavenly.
  335. >But, she is a professional, and does her best not to goose Sunset.
  336. >Too much.
  337. >And as she works, the two of them talk.
  338. >That in itself is hardly unusual; Rarity had gone to great lengths to try and make sure that Sunset had some measure of comfort after the Fall Formal.
  339. >But even still, how often did the two of them find time to spend alone together?
  340. >The other girls, bless their hearts, always seemed to be far more interesting than Sunset.
  341. >Now however, Rarity wasn’t so sure.
  342. “And so you were a student to a Princess?”
  343. >“Just like Twilight.”
  344. “I am so incredibly jealous. The best that I can manage is a summer internship with a low-level fashion designer; a Princess is simply too far out for me to even imagine.”
  345. >A sheepish smile slides across Sunset’s face as Rarity hands her a pale yellow dress that settles around her knees.
  346. >“Well, seeing Twilight now kind of makes me wish I’d stuck out through the lessons; maybe then I’d be the Princess of Friendship. Or at least something more than a high-school student.”
  347. “Perhaps.”
  348. >Rarity frowns, letting her eyes roam Sunset’s figure before shaking her head.
  349. “No, that’s far more Fluttershy’s style than your own. But back to the point, if you had stayed, then you wouldn’t be here now.”
  350. >“Some people might think that’s the better option of the two.”
  351. >Jerking her gaze upwards, the pale girl prepares to tear into her friend, but pauses as she sees the sly smile on her lips.
  352.
  353. >Despite her sudden indignation, Rarity dismisses it with a smile of her own.
  354. “Quite the clever joke, darling; but even if they were to say that, I would disagree.”
  355. >Sunset strips out of the dress, her matching black bra and panty set hugging her body like a second skin.
  356. >“Oh? Why is that?”
  357. “Well, without you none of us would have met Twilight.”
  358. >Seeing the redhead flinch, Rarity opts out of dragging dialogue out further and goes straight to the point.
  359. “And if that had not happened, then Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and myself may have eventually drifted apart on our own. After all, we hardly have anything in common aside from our strange friendship.”
  360. >“Which I broke.”
  361. “And have since helped to mend.”
  362. >Reaching out, Rarity cups Sunset’s cheek and locks eyes with her.
  363. “You certainly did some foul, hurtful things to us. But without you, I don’t think I could have ever learned how much those other girls mean to me.”
  364. >Sunset’s face tenses.
  365. >“So I’m just the means to the end?”
  366. “No!”
  367. >Pulling the redhead close in a half hug, Rarity sighs.
  368. >For a moment, she loses track of her train of thought, feeling the warmth of sweater flesh sandwiching up between the two of them.
  369. >Both girls stand still, red-faced and barely daring to breathe.
  370. >But finally Rarity does.
  371. >And the words flow out easily.
  372. “The grief I have seen you put up with reminds me to mind my words, and the grace with which you handle each day is more than admirable.”
  373. >Sliding her thumb along Sunset’s cheek, the pale girl smiles.
  374. “You are a vibrant, colorful girl, and I am pleased to count you among those special friends of mine.”
  375. >There’s a quiet murmur of thanks from the still blushing girl, but it’s enough to make Rarity’s heart soar.
  376. >She holds her position, savoring the sensation of Sunset’s sizable breasts pressing against her own petite chest or a while longer, before shaking her head and smiling.
  377.
  378. “Now, back to dressing, hm?”
  379. >In the end, they settle on something familiar rather than something flashy and new.
  380. >While not the largest fan of black leather jackets, Rarity did keep some in stock.
  381. >The men’s size hangs somewhat loosely even around Sunset’s broadened shoulders, but rests closer to her hips than the shorter women’s length, and the additional length in the arms assists in making her seem less conspicuous.
  382. >Likewise, she was able to let out Sunset’s skirt, allowing her to slip it on with a degree of comfort.
  383. >The fitted t-shirt however, was utterly unusable.
  384. >Instead, they opt for a somewhat dressy purple, sleeveless top.
  385. >Aside from the lack of a sunny decal, there will be no way to tell that she is wearing anything different when worn with the jacket.
  386. “Considering we don’t know if you’ll go through another, ah, spurt, it seems it would be best to give you room to breathe.”
  387. >Rarity makes a show of toying with the hem of the top, showing that it was indeed airy enough to accommodate any sudden changes in size.
  388. >Sunset laughs and shakes her head.
  389. >“Well, if it’s up to me, I’m quite happy not to have to go through this again.”
  390. “Come now, you cannot say that this morning has been all bad.”
  391. >The girl flashes a wry smile and shrugs.
  392. >“The company was nice, and I wouldn’t mind doing that another time.”
  393. >Rarity chuckles and shakes her head.
  394. “Well that makes two of us. I suppose we had best get along to school, otherwise the girls will start to worry.”
  395. >“Do you want to go together?”
  396. >Pursing her lips, the pale girl gives a shake of her head.
  397. “Not unless you want to wait; I believe I’ll take time to clean and make myself up before leaving.”
  398. >Sunset gives a small nod, though she doesn’t look especially pleased with that response.
  399.
  400. >The two exchange goodbyes and Sunset leaves, the door bell jangling as she goes.
  401. >With a sigh of relief, Rarity saunters up to the living area above the Boutique and goes about her morning routine.
  402. >But as she strips down for her shower, she stares at her chest for a moment.
  403. >Something seems a little off.
  404. >Still, after several moments of staring and being unable to place what’s wrong, she shrugs and steps into the shower, smiling.
  405. >Even though she has been a lot of trouble in the past, it’s good to have a friend like Sunset Shimmer.
  406. >Sometime later, Rarity steps out of the bathroom, towels wrapped tight around her bust and her hair.
  407. >Her phone chirps, drawing her attention away from the closet.
  408. >On it, a series of three quick messages from Fluttershy.
  409. >‘Rarity, something’s wrong with Sunset.’
  410. >‘Again.’
  411. >‘Please get to school as soon as you can.’
  412. >Biting her lip, Rarity unconsciously massages one of her tender breasts.
  413. “Oh dear, that doesn’t sound good at all…”
  414.
  415.
  416.
  417. [Fluttershy]
  418. >Oh dear.
  419. >Oh dear, oh dear.
  420. >What an absolute disaster.
  421. >Fluttershy chews on her lower lip as she paces around the empty classroom.
  422. >Well, nearly empty.
  423. >“Fluttershy, could you stop that? You’re making me nervous.”
  424. >She glances over to her companion.
  425. >Sunset Shimmer.
  426. >Despite her predicament, the leggy lady seems less worried than she probably ought to be.
  427. >At least less worried than Fluttershy herself.
  428. “If any time is a time to be nervous, I think it would be now.”
  429. >Sighing, the pink haired girl sits down at a desk near her friend and looks her over.
  430. >The growth from this morning had been a surprise, certainly.
  431. >Sunset had gone from being a slight bit shorter than the shy girl, to all but towering over her.
  432. >Granted, Fluttershy’s eyes had actually been level with her lips, but Sunset somehow still retains a bit of that imposing presence that makes her seem impossibly large.
  433. >Now that she actually is taller, it’s just compounded.
  434. >Only…
  435. >Somehow, since leaving the Boutique, Sunset seems to have gained a little extra height.
  436. >Indeed, when standing side by side, Fluttershy’s eyes are even with the taller girl’s shoulders.
  437. >And all of it seems situated in Sunset’s torso and arms.
  438. >Fluttershy puffs out her cheeks in a mix of irritation, exhaustion, and envy as she eyes up the girl currently kicking her boots in the air.
  439. >The redhead’s height is hardly the most noticeable thing about her, but considering that Rarity just set her up with a new outfit…
  440. >“So, no offense, but are you going to stare at me the whole time until help comes?”
  441. >The pink-haired girl squeaks, meeting Sunset’s eyes.
  442. “Oh, sorry; I was just thinking.”
  443. >“It’s fine; I know I look a little strange.”
  444. “I, I wouldn’t say that you look strange, just different.”
  445.
  446. >Sunset smiles, her cheeks lighting up a little.
  447. >“Come on Fluttershy, you don’t have to tiptoe around the issue. I look like something out of a fetish magazine.”
  448. >She did.
  449. >Not that Fluttershy would know anything about those kinds of things.
  450. >She sighs, unable to tear her eyes away as Sunset gets to her feet and stretches her arms over her head.
  451. >After her latest round of growth, the redhead might have already left Applejack and Rarity behind, and be ready to compete with the twin towering Principals.
  452. >Sunset’s chest doesn’t seem too much larger, thankfully.
  453. >Not that Fluttershy was envious; she knew first hand how difficult it could be to have larger than average breasts.
  454. >And, honestly, the chance at having an actual chesty friend who could commiserate and coordinate awkward bra shopping trips might be nice.
  455. >Provided that whatever was affecting Sunset didn’t fade with time.
  456. >…Not that she wanted her friend to be stuck that way, just-!
  457. >Shaking her head, Fluttershy makes a bold attempt to escape the fruitless spiral of weighing her wants versus the wants of others and drags her eyes downward.
  458. >Sunset’s waist certain proves to be the latest focus of whatever is affecting her.
  459. >The redhead had benefited from a small waist to begin with, but now her torso stretches a good bit further, making the curves out from Sunset’s slim middle down to her hips that much smoother and easier on the eyes.
  460. >And it was her hips that caught Fluttershy’s attention the most.
  461. >It isn’t envy-
  462. >Well, it is, but only because outside of her large chest, the pink-haired girl’s body is mostly straight lines.
  463. >A modest waist leads down to barely there hips, and a poorly proportioned backside.
  464. >Not that Fluttershy wants the extra attention that would come with having a bombshell, hourglass figure.
  465. >But a little padding never hurt anyone.
  466. >At least that’s what Rarity always says when she stuffs her bras.
  467.
  468. >As Fluttershy wrestles with being on the other side of the awkward feelings regarding body image for once, her phone chirps.
  469. >“Is that Rarity?”
  470. >Sunset leans over and both girls read the text together.
  471. >‘Apologies about the late reply, darling. I’m afraid I can’t do much without having her come back at the Boutique. I will be at school shortly; we can decide what to do then.’
  472. “Oh good.”
  473. >Fluttershy heaves a sigh of relief and closes her eyes.
  474. “Rarity will know exactly what to do.”
  475. >At that moment, the first bell of the day rings.
  476. >Ten minutes to class.
  477. >“We don’t really have time to wait for Rarity, Fluttershy.”
  478. >The anxious teen stares at her growing friend and bites her lip and offers up a sheepish response.
  479. “Maybe she’ll drive quickly?”
  480. >“We can’t count on that.”
  481. >Sunset frowns, looking irritated for a moment before snapping her fingers.
  482. >“But maybe you can help me.”
  483. “Me?”
  484. >The pink-haired girl’s eyes widen.
  485. “Oh, no, I couldn’t. I don’t know the first thing about clothes.”
  486. >“But you do.”
  487. >Reaching out, Sunset squeezes her hand and moves closer.
  488. >“You have a knack for not drawing attention to yourself unless it’s necessary.”
  489. >With a slight blush, Fluttershy giggles.
  490. “That’s a little much. I’m just not a very big presence compared to other people.”
  491. >“I know, and I need a little of that now.”
  492. >The animal lover frowns and furrows her brow.
  493. “Sunset, I can’t teach you how to disappear, not even I can do that.”
  494. >“And yet only a handful of girls know that you’ve got two of the largest breasts in school.”
  495. >Hooking her finger in the shy girl’s collar, Sunset gives her a playful shake.
  496. >Fluttershy squeaks and covers her chest, taking a quick step back and pouting at her still smiling friend.
  497. >“Just give me a few tips on how to downplay these changes.”
  498. >It takes a long moment, but Fluttershy eventually nods.
  499. >Sunset has looked out for her since the Fall Formal, after all.
  500.
  501. >Even though she tries to stay invisible most of the time, somehow the redhead always seems to know where she is.
  502. >It’s a little unnerving, but also heartwarming that someone cares enough to notice her.
  503. >For Sunset, in this uncertain time, it’s the least she can do.
  504. “Well, first of all we need to let out your top.”
  505. >Sunset nods, lifting her arms and letting Fluttershy get to work.
  506. >The shirt is longer than what she might usually wear thanks to Rarity’s foresight and so, with a little creative tugging and tucking, they manage to create a somewhat shapeless space between her shoulders and hips.
  507. >Granted, anyone looking closely will see the outline of Sunset’s buoyant bust as she walks, but the stiffness of jacket will also help in hiding that.
  508. >Unfortunately, its length is only just long enough to reach the upper swell of her hips, leaving Sunset’s skirt to pick up most of the slack.
  509. >Despite her rather reserved demeanor, Fluttershy makes the most of the small opportunity she has to run her hands over Sunset’s hips, gently tugging the skirt lower until the waist sits just underneath the top’s hem.
  510. “Don’t try to do too many long movements today.”
  511. >Fluttershy slides her palms along the redhead’s hips again, smoothing out the wrinkled fabric.
  512. >She even gets especially bold and gives the same attention to Sunset’s backside.
  513. >Compared to the yielding sensation she feels when squeezing her own breasts, Fluttershy can’t help but marvel at the sensation of pressing against the redhead’s rump.
  514. >The muscle is so firm, but also with a gentle layer of smoothness to it.
  515. >A girl could get lost in imagining what-
  516. >“Fluttershy?”
  517. >Looking up at her towering friend with her big green eyes, Fluttershy gulps.
  518. “Y-yes?”
  519. >“Could you move your hands? The second bell’s going to ring soon.”
  520. “Oh.”
  521. >Right.
  522. >Class.
  523. >Of course.
  524. >Getting back to her feet, Fluttershy slides her palms against her own skirt and nods.
  525.
  526. “That’s about all that I can do, I think. If you slouch forward a little, it will help hold everything together, I think.”
  527. >Sunset does so, and the shy girl gives a forced smile as the robust contours of the redhead’s body seem to fade further into the background.
  528. >What a shame.
  529. >At that thought, Fluttershy’s face burns again, and she gives an anxious cough.
  530. “Well, I think that’s that. I’m sorry that I can’t do more.”
  531. >“You’ve done more than enough.”
  532. >Smiling, Sunset reaches out and brushes the tip of Fluttershy’s nose with a smile.
  533. >“There, can’t have you going to class with dust on your face, can we?”
  534. >The pink haired girl bites her lip as the second bell chimes and Sunset’s eyes widen.
  535. >Two minutes to class.
  536. >“Thanks again; could I have you text the girls that everything’s okay for right now?”
  537. >Fluttershy nods, earning a relieved smile from Sunset as she waves and hurries out the door.
  538. >Falling back against the desk, the shy girl sighs and feels all the confidence she had just felt leave her in an instant.
  539. >Still, she can’t help but smile as she thinks that she may have actually managed to help her friend.
  540. “I just hope that what I’ve done is enough.”
  541. >It would have to be.
  542. >Picking up her things, Fluttershy moves to her first class of the day, sending a message to the other five that disaster had been averted for the time being.
  543. >A good continuation to an otherwise very strange day.
  544. >Unfortunately, the good luck doesn’t sustain itself.
  545. >About midway through second period, Fluttershy finds herself squirming in her seat.
  546. >For some reason, her panties feel frustratingly snug; as though they slid up a little too high.
  547. >Resisting the urge to pick at them, the pink-haired girl struggles through her day, waiting for lunch when the seven of them could come together and brainstorm about what to do next.
  548.
  549.
  550.
  551. [Twilight 2]
  552. “And somehow, things have gotten even worse.”
  553. >Twilight groans, burying her face in her hands.
  554. >Sunset offers up an awkward smile as she chuckles and squirms against her seat.
  555. >“Well, at least we know that Rarity was right about there being room if I needed it?”
  556. >The fashionista in question is glaring with far too much intensity at Sunset’s chest, her lip color smearing a little as she threatens to bite through her lip before speaking.
  557. >“Of course, but I wasn’t expecting… this.”
  558. >With a small flip of her wrist, Rarity slides her hand under Sunset’s jacket and tugs at the corner of her top.
  559. >Much to the suddenly flustered firebrand’s dismay.
  560. >“No, wait a second!”
  561. >All six girls lean in closer and-
  562. >Yup.
  563. >She’s grown again.
  564. >Sunset’s already heavy hangers have now been upgraded to a pair of whoppers.
  565. >The redhead pulls away, blushing and smoothing out her jacket.
  566. >“Good grief, you all act like you’ve never seen a pair of boobs before.”
  567. >“Not like that!”
  568. >There goes the rather petite Rainbow.
  569. >Scowling, she places her palm on the table.
  570. >“You’ve even outclassed Fluttershy! How do you think she feels?”
  571. >“Oh, I don’t mind that. As long as Sunset’s happy.”
  572. >The shy girl’s input is, as usual, passed over.
  573. >But she’s not the only one.
  574. >“Sunny, you’re so squishy now!”
  575. >While Pinkie Pie takes a few amazed prods at Sunset’s sweater meat, Applejack sighs and turns to Twilight.
  576. >“Are we any closer at all to figuring out what the hay is causing this?”
  577. “No.”
  578. >Sighing in defeat, the Princess of Friendship glares down at the lunch in front of her.
  579. >Somehow, her appetite seems absent.
  580. >Glancing about, Sunset smiles and tries to rally the six.
  581. >“Come on girls, it’s not like we don’t have time to figure out what’s going on with me later. Right now, you should focus on the counter-spell; I’m sure that Twilight’s got one all ready to go.”
  582. >A sharp pang twists in the Princess’ gut as six pairs of hopeful eyes turn towards her
  583.
  584. >Sunset may as well have just slapped reins on her, slapped a bit in her mouth and put up a sign saying ‘Free Rides’
  585. >Best to fake it.
  586. “It’s, it’s coming along great. It will definitely be ready by tonight!”
  587. >Twilight forces a smile, which seems to placate the girls.
  588. >Well, except for one.
  589. >As the five human girls go back to talking about the routine, Sunset lifts her tray and moves to sit down beside Twilight.
  590. >The purple-haired girl pushes her food around, attempting to look busy, but it doesn’t dissuade Celestia’s former pupil.
  591. >“Song magic, it’s a little more difficult than you thought?”
  592. >Sunset’s voice is low, low enough that none of the other girls take notice.
  593. >Even still, Twilight stays quiet for a long while before putting on her biggest smile.
  594. “It’s a challenge, but I’m sure that everything will work out fine. It always does!”
  595. >The frown on the redhead’s face deepens as she takes a bite of her lunch.
  596. >Swallowing, she turns to Twilight again.
  597. >“Hey, what was last night?”
  598. “Pardon?”
  599. >“You know.”
  600. >Sunset glances about and leans a little closer.
  601. >“I mean the conversation, not feeling me up.”
  602. “I-I wasn’t!”
  603. >Twilight’s sputtering draws a bit of attention, but the two pony-girls smile and the rest of their friends go back to discussing other matters.
  604. >Taking a deep breath, she turns back to Sunset.
  605. “It was, just talking, Sunset. I said that I would help you find out what’s causing your unexpected growth.”
  606. >“Well, that’s half of it. The other half is the part where I offered to help you if you ran into trouble with the counter-spell.”
  607. >Feeling embarrassment rush to her cheeks, Twilight her head and tries to reassure Sunset, and herself.
  608.
  609. “The spell’s fine! Perfectly fine!”
  610. >A lengthy silence settles in before Sunset sighs and turns back to her tray.
  611. >“You shouldn’t lie, Twilight; it’s not a good practice for keeping friends.”
  612. >With a few more prods, the Princess mutters back
  613. “It’s not a lie, its just turning out to be a little more trouble than I thought it would be.”
  614. >“If it comes down to it, will you trust me to help you?”
  615. >Twilight glances over at Sunset, who’s staring at her with a fierce intensity.
  616. >Sighing, she smiles.
  617. “If I need your help, I’ll let you know.”
  618. >“I’m counting on you to remember that, Twilight.”
  619. >Getting up from the table, Sunset walks over to the trashcan and dumps the rest of her meal.
  620. >The sullen Sparkle sinks a little lower in her seat, trying to avoid the eyes of her friends.
  621. >Twilight ends up so entangled in the awkward feelings running through her body, that she fails to notice Applejack slip out into the hall after Sunset.
  622.
  623.
  624.
  625. [Applejack]
  626. >Out in the hall, Applejack reaches out and grabs Sunset by the wrist.
  627. >The now taller girl pauses, giving the blonde a curious look, but that doesn’t dissuade AJ from cutting right to the point.
  628. “Alright Sugar Cube, you’re sweatin like a chubby piglet when the holidays come around, so spill; what’s eatin you?”
  629. >There’s a moment of awkward silence before Sunset sighs and looks back the way that they had come.
  630. >“It’s Twilight and the counter-spell.”
  631. “I could have figured that out well enough on my own, so why don’t you tell me why?”
  632. >“I’m afraid that it won’t be finished in time.”
  633. “Are you sayin she can’t?”
  634. >“No!”
  635. >The gentle crease in Sunset’s forehead disappears as she shakes her head, earning a small smile from Applejack as the redhead continues.
  636. >“Twilight’s perfectly capable of crafting a counter spell; I mean, she’s the Princess of Friendship! But-”
  637. >Sighing, the growing girl presses her back against the wall and hangs her head.
  638. >“Everyone’s so wrapped up in the Dazzling fiasco, then we throw my problem into the mix and it just seems like it’s too much at one time, even for her.”
  639. >There’s another pause that Applejack fills with the quiet tap-tap of her boot against the linoleum tile, to which Sunset sighs.
  640. >“And I sort of feel like a lump, because the only thing that I’m doing is causing another distraction and not helping out at all.”
  641. “That’s what I was looking for.”
  642. >AJ gives a gentle laugh and reaches up, squeezing Sunset’s shoulder.
  643. “All that other stuff is well and good, but it’s all about results. That last one though, that’s reason enough to be as worked up as you are.”
  644. >“I’m not really looking to be consoled, Applejack; I don’t think I’m going to feel better about the situation unless I’m doing something.”
  645. >Staring at the ground, Sunset knocks the toes of her boots together a few times.
  646.
  647. >The blonde sighs, pulling her hand away before putting on a smile.
  648. “Now don’t be like that; everything will work out just fine. After all, you even said that Twilight’s a Princess and we’ve got all afternoon to figure out how to wiggle the magic into our music.”
  649. >“And if you can’t?”
  650. >Sunset’s pointed look causes Applejack to shiver.
  651. >It seems almost that the redhead knows more than she’s telling, but Sunset has been incredibly up front during the conversation.
  652. >Gulping, AJ asks the question now gnawing away in the pit of her stomach.
  653. “You, think that we won’t?”
  654. >“I don’t know what to think.”
  655. >Sunset sighs, but then smiles.
  656. >It’s clearly forced, but the girl is trying.
  657. >“Let’s just wait and see for the time being. Maybe I’m wrong and everything will come together beautifully at practice today.”
  658. “Yeah, you’re right.”
  659. >Applejack smirks.
  660. “What’s the worst that could happen? C’mon, we’ve still got a little while to burn before class starts again.”
  661. >The two girls walk deeper into the school, perhaps with a little more hope than before.
  662. >It wasn’t until several hours after classes let out for the day that they both would come to understand.
  663. >The worst, apparently, has come home to roost in the Rainbooms’ wheelhouse.
  664. >And shows no signs of leaving.
  665. >As the seven friends make their way to the school that night for the first round of the Battle of the Bands, Applejack hangs back and speaks with Sunset again.
  666. “That was a disaster.”
  667. >“It wasn’t that bad.”
  668. >AJ raises an eyebrow.
  669. “Excuse me, did you hear Twilight’s counter-spell? We sounded worse than a tom-cat quartet and fought about as much to boot!”
  670. >Bringing a hand to her face, the blonde sighs.
  671. “I can already see things getting ready to unravel; we’ll be lucky to make it through the Battle of the Bands without having a super-star level break up.”
  672. >“Oh yeah, it was bad.”
  673. “See? Disaster.”
  674.
  675. >As AJ sulks, she feels Sunset nudge her elbow into her side.
  676. >“All I meant was that a real disaster would have resulted in property damage.”
  677. >The two girls exchange looks, Sunset with a sly smile against Applejack’s straight face.
  678. >The latter doesn’t last long however, as AJ chuckles and smirks.
  679. “I reckon.”
  680. >“Besides, it sounds like you all have a plan to buy Twilight some more time and you can use the spell whenever you’re ready.”
  681. >Applejack grunts in affirmation while staring down at the space between herself and Sunset.
  682. >The five friend’s relationship with the reformed rebel has been an awkward one to say the least.
  683. >But AJ likes to think that they have, in some way, managed to help bridge the distance between themselves and the redhead.
  684. >Sure, she’s a little difficult and awkward at times, but so are the rest of her friends.
  685. >But, most of them aren’t still growing at the most inopportune and impossible times.
  686. >Applejack’s eyes roam Sunset’s expanded body for a short while longer before settling around her middle.
  687. >It’s not especially surprising, her slim waist and generously long torso are a magnet for appreciative eyes.
  688. >And hands as well, no doubt.
  689. >Applejack has seen on several occasions how grabby some of Rarity’s would-be suitors can get, and Sunset’s middle now rivals that of the purple-haired fashionista.
  690. >There’s also a certain elegance that comes with height as well.
  691. >Not that Applejack is short by any means, but her torso is more comparable to short, solid lines than long, sloping curves.
  692. >While work pants were easy to find, the absence of a feminine did very little for her self-confidence in a dress.
  693. >And it wasn’t like she didn’t like to get gussied up every once in a while.
  694. “If only…”
  695. >“Hm?”
  696. >AJ stares at the inquisitive Sunset for a moment before clapping a hand over her mouth.
  697. >Shoot!
  698. >Forcing a smile and a laugh, Applejack shrugs.
  699. “Sorry, just got a lot on my mind.”
  700. >“I think we all do.”
  701.
  702. >Canterlot High appears in the distance, and the other girls pick up the pace.
  703. >As Applejack moves to follow, Sunset reaches out and takes her hand.
  704. >“AJ.”
  705. >The blonde turns to the rather stern looking pony-girl.
  706. “Wuzzat look about?”
  707. >“I don’t know if I can do much, but I’ll talk with the other girls; see if we can’t alleviate some of the concerns about the band falling apart before the showcase ends.”
  708. >A smile dances across Applejack’s lips as she chuckles.
  709. “Well that’s mighty kind of ya. I know that it’ll be a weight off my mind if I know we can stay together.”
  710. >“And.”
  711. >AJ raises an eyebrow.
  712. >“I don’t want to think like this, but I might need you help me convince Twilight that she doesn’t have to carry the weight of the counter-spell on her own. Will you?”
  713. >This smile is somehow wider than any of the others and Applejack nods her head.
  714. “Mm, you’re a good friend, Sunset. Now c’mon! The other girls are waitin!”
  715. >Squeezing the redhead’s hand, AJ takes off towards campus.
  716. >If only she could have held onto that confidence.
  717. >The Rainbooms’ first public performance ends in disaster.
  718. >And a real disaster, complete with property damage.
  719. >As she stands in the midst of the partially ruined stage, Applejack sighs.
  720. >In the background, the other girls bicker and snap at each other.
  721. >She’s thrown in a few good shots herself, but has since resigned herself to sulking.
  722. >And to top it all off, her bass strap feels off.
  723. >Like it’s not allowing the instrument to hang in a place that’s comfortable for her to play.
  724. >Sighing, the blonde looks back at her fighting friends.
  725. >She is not looking forward to tomorrow’s rounds.
  726. >Or the inevitable spats that will arise as the girls spend another night together.
  727.
  728.
  729.
  730. [Twilight 3]
  731. >In all honesty, a part of Twilight hopes that she won’t wake up.
  732. >Or at least, that she won’t wake up in Pinkie Pie’s bedroom.
  733. >After the horrible showing at the first round last night, much of her hope feels as though it has been squashed under the Dazzling’s boots.
  734. >If only she could stay asleep.
  735. >Or better still, wake up back in Equestria and find out that this is all a dream.
  736. >No Dazzlings.
  737. >No Sunset Shimmer suffering from abnormal bouts of growth.
  738. >Just a nice quiet morning where Spike will bring her tea and-
  739. >“WAHAHA!”
  740. >Well, so much for that.
  741. >Opening her eyes, Twilight blinks the morning light away a few times.
  742. >As the ceiling comes into focus, it becomes clear from the scattered bed sheets, blankets, and pillows, that something has gone wrong.
  743. >Horribly wrong.
  744. >The still dazed Princess pushes herself up from her sleeping spot to see Spike wagging his tail, a concerned crease running down the middle of his forehead.
  745. >“It’s about time, Twilight.”
  746. >The traveler brings a hand to her face and sighs.
  747. “Just tell me it isn’t Sunset.”
  748. >“It’s Sunset.”
  749. >Twilight groans and closes her eyes.
  750. >“And Rarity, and Fluttershy, and Applejack too.”
  751. >What?
  752. “What?”
  753. >Stumbling to her feet, Twilight follows after the scampering Spike until they reach an open room.
  754. >And Twilight gapes at the sight in front of her.
  755. >“Oh, Twilight, darling! You will never believe what happened!”
  756. >Rarity squeals, bouncing on the balls of her feet in excitement and jiggling.
  757. >Rarity.
  758. >JIGGLING.
  759. >Twilight stammers for a response as her formerly flat friend snaps the measuring tape in her hand closed.
  760. >With a smile, Rarity pushes the slightly less than lewd handfuls of her chest outward.
  761. >“Would you look at this figure? I feel like I could take on the world!”
  762. >She does a quarter turn to the right and shows off her profile, even going so far as to thread her fingers behind her head for a little extra oomph.
  763. >And what an oomph it is, enough to cause Twilight to stumble back in surprise.
  764.
  765. >Right into another body
  766. >A rather solid frame, to be precise.
  767. >“Woah there, Sugar Cube.”
  768. >Tilting her head back, Twilight looks up.
  769. >And up, and up, enough so that her throat feels dry, as though each time her ey s climb higher, the air itself was getting thinner.
  770. “A-Applejack?”
  771. >The blonde taps a finger against her temple and winks at the smaller Twilight.
  772. >“Eeyup.”
  773. >Twilight turns and takes in her towering friend, noting that the extra height seems to be situated around her middle, if the pajama top turned belly-shirt is any indication.
  774. >It cuts off right below her modest chest, showcasing a broad expanse of toned and gently tanned flesh; with just a spattering of freckles for variety.
  775. >The farm girl’s waist cinches inward at a gentle angle, giving her already robust pear shape the illusion of a smooth, seamless curve.
  776. >All things said, the once second tallest of the group would now likely stand a noticeable distance above the rest of them.
  777. >Gulping, Twilight looks up into Applejack’s eyes and shakes off the stunned sensation ringing about in between her ears.
  778. “What about Fluttershy? Where is she?”
  779. >“Oh, the poor dear.”
  780. >Rarity sighs, drawing Twilight’s attention back to her.
  781. >“It seems that she popped the seams on her skirt when she tried to put it on this morning. Needless to say, she’s somewhat distraught, but Pinkie Pie is taking care of finding her a replacement until the four of us can get back to the Boutique and make an adjustment to our wardrobes.”
  782. “…four?”
  783. >“Oh yes, Twilight.”
  784. >Rarity brings a hand to her mouth and smiles.
  785. >“But I must say that Sunset is in much better spirits than yesterday. She’s with Pinkie and Fluttershy.”
  786. >Twilight sighs, turning back to Spike who, after tearing his rapt attention away from the now modestly busty Rarity, leads her to another section of the house.
  787.
  788. >A series of quick thumps overhead draws her up to the attic, where Pinkie Pie is bouncing from one corner to the next, rooting through all manner of piles, boxes, and crates.
  789. >“Now where did we put the winter clothing? I know that it was-”
  790. >A step creaks under Twilight’s weight as she approaches the landing, and the frizzy haired girl turns her attention to the Princess.
  791. >“Morning Twilight!”
  792. >“Good, morning.”
  793. >Fluttershy stands in a corner, rocking from side to side with her hands behind her back, doubtlessly trying to cover up her expanded backside.
  794. >But even from the front, there’s very little that the pink-haired girl can do to hide the wider swell of her hips.
  795. >Where once there had been a top-heavy girl who might tip over at a moment’s notice, there now stands a more evenly balanced figure, though it’s apparently done little for her self-confidence.
  796. >But, as much as Twilight would like to examine her friend more, it’s the third member of the group who catches her eye.
  797. >And again, the intelligent Princess freezes.
  798. >Scratch any thoughts of Applejack being the tallest; even as she’s hunched over to avoid the sloped roof, it’s very clear that Sunset is in the same range as the towering Principal Celestia, if not already past her.
  799. >The pajama top from yesterday has now been cut in such a way that it covers the more intimate parts of Sunset’s chest; but only just, as the girl has a great deal of underboob visible, somehow remaining in place despite all reason saying they should spill out into the open air.
  800. >Likewise, her generous shoulders, torso and longer legs seem to stretch forever vertically, and are certainly not a slouch horizontally either.
  801. >While Sunset has grown up and out, her waist is still comparatively slim, leaving Twilight’s clumsy fingers twitching in the air.
  802. >It takes a moment for her to realize why.
  803.
  804. >She wants to touch her.
  805. >Almost more than anything else in the world, the usually modest Princess wants to drag her fingertips along Sunset’s exposed middle, down the welcoming curves from her bust to her hips, and even beyond!
  806. >But, with a shake of her head and a stern resolve, Twilight steadies herself and tries not to get distracted by the pajama bottoms that are now riding up close to Sunset’s knees.
  807. “So.”
  808. >And then she blanks.
  809. >What a wash.
  810. >Sunset offers a smile and blushes.
  811. >“So…”
  812. >Another moment of silence as Twilight gathers her thoughts.
  813. “I’m pretty sure we’re dealing with magic.”
  814. >“I’d agree with you on that.”
  815. “And that it affects others who have been exposed to Equestrian magic.”
  816. >Sunset nods, her expression turning serious.
  817. >Crossing her arms over her chest, Twilight brings a finger to her chin.
  818. “But what I don’t understand is how the transmission works. I mean, you spent time together with Rarity and Fluttershy yesterday, but nothing has happened to me.”
  819. >Just to be sure, the Princess gives herself a once over.
  820. >Nope, still Twiggy Twilight.
  821. >There’s a slight pang of irritation at the thought, but she shakes it off quickly.
  822. “And Applejack had no more exposure than either Rainbow Dash, or Pinkie Pie.”
  823. >Sunset’s lips press together in a thin line as she sighs.
  824. >“Actually, I spent a lot of time talking with AJ yesterday. After lunch, and again before we made it to CHS.”
  825. >Twilight’s eyes widen as she smacks her hand into her palm.
  826. “So there is a connection!”
  827. >With another bob of her head, Sunset cocks a hand on her hip.
  828. >“But that still doesn’t tell us why things are happening the way that they are. At this rate, Rarity, Applejack, or Fluttershy might get worse tomorrow, or even throughout the day like I have been. How are you going to explain why Rarity’s buttons keep flying off in class, much less keep the magic a secret from the Dazzlings?”
  829.
  830. >Twilight frowns, tapping her foot a few times.
  831. “Over the past twenty-four hours, you’ve gone through four major spurts: one you noticed when you woke up, the second after going to the Boutique with Rarity, your time with Fluttershy, and then sometime in the night after talking to Applejack.”
  832. >“So, somehow being in contact with the girls is making them grow?”
  833. “I don’t believe so; if it were simply proximity, then I would have been affected as well.”
  834. >Sunset nods, looking thoughtful for a moment.
  835. >“In that case, we need to narrow down what’s causing these changes in the first place. Which means…”
  836. >With a frown, the Princess of Friendship looks away.
  837. “Which means, now that we know what we’re looking for, we’ll need to have a test subject.”
  838. >“It can’t be anyone who’s already been exposed; we don’t know how it will affect them, and it might make their situation more awkward.”
  839. “And, for whatever reason, I’m not being affected by it.”
  840. >“So that leaves two. But Rainbow Dash isn’t back from her morning run yet…”
  841. >Both girls pause and look to the still prancing Pinkie Pie.
  842. >At once, the girl stops, one leg propped up in the air, showcasing her rather robust rump.
  843. >It’s no wonder that she was the one chosen to find a fitting skirt for Fluttershy.
  844. >As though feeling the four eyes on her, Pinkie turns her head towards them with a smile.
  845. >“So, is it finally my turn?”
  846.
  847.
  848.
  849. [Pinkie Pie]
  850.
  851. >Twilight nods her head and Pinkie feels her heart begin to thud in excitement.
  852. >Pulling a rather modest, for her, dress out of the pile, she bounces over to Fluttershy and places it in her hands.
  853. “This should help you get through the day without anyone seeing your new shiny hiney.”
  854. >The quiet girl mutters something akin to a thank you before hurrying past the two pony-girls and heading down the stairs.
  855. >Seeing the girl’s face light up and knowing that she’d helped her friend really put a fire in Pinkie’s belly.
  856. >So, with a happy hop and a squeal, she crosses the room as fast as she can and wraps the now much-larger Sunset Shimmer into a hug.
  857. “Omigosh I’ve been waiting for this since before I even knew that this was a thing!”
  858. >Nuzzling her cheek into the tall girl’s stomach, Pinkie delights in the firmness of her bare abs.
  859. >Of course, she bounces a little on the tips of her toes too for good measure, just so that she can enjoy the much softer sensation of the top of her head hitting Sunset’s exposed underbust.
  860. >All too quickly, the girl pushes Pinkie away a substantial arm’s length.
  861. >“I, I think I get it; you’re really excited.”
  862. >Bobbing her head up and down, the cheerful girl flashes a smile up at the blushing behemoth.
  863. “Yup, yup! I can’t wait to be ten feet tall like you!”
  864. >Twilight brings a hand to her face.
  865. >“Pinkie, she’s not-”
  866. “Ooh, or maybe I’ll get a pair of head sized headlights? A super cushy-tushy? Rock crushing thighs?”
  867. >For emphasis, Pinkie prods each of her suggestions in time, giggling as Sunset squirms under her unexpected, but apparently not unwelcome, touch.
  868. >Twilight, however, is not as easily impressed.
  869. >“Well at least there’s a willing test subject. All right, we should go ahead and get started.”
  870. >Sunset glances towards the brainy girl and frowns.
  871. >“We?”
  872. >“Well, yes.”
  873. >The Princess of Friendship cocks her head to the side as she looks over the other two girls.
  874. >“Am I being excluded for some reason?”
  875.
  876. >Putting on a pained smile, Sunset squeezes her forearm and looks away.
  877. >“Listen, I appreciate that you’re trying to help me figure out what’s going on, but you can’t forget that you have the Dazzlings to deal with, and the counter-spell too.”
  878. >Sighing, the redhead looks up at her Equestrian friend.
  879. >“I can’t really be seen like this right now, and Pinkie can stand to disappear for a sick day, but if you’re not around, the Sirens might begin to suspect that something’s wrong and try to stop you before the spell’s completed.”
  880. >Twilight looks visibly hurt, so much so that Pinkie can practically feel her tummy twisting.
  881. >“But…”
  882. “Sunset’s right, Twilight.”
  883. >The teen party planner offers a small, sad smile.
  884. “You even said it yourself, we’ve really only got one shot at stopping them. So they need to think that everything is okie-dokie, even if it isn’t.”
  885. >The Princess’ mouth opens, and then closes.
  886. >It pops open again a few seconds later, before she crosses her arms and huffs.
  887. >“You’re making me go to class and I’m not even enrolled as an actual student!”
  888. >Pinkie and Sunset giggle, and after a few flustered glares, Twilight joins in.
  889. >Afterwards come ten whole boring minutes where Pinkie watches her friends argue about how the data should be cataloged, before Sunset finally gets fed up and gives the smaller girl a nudge towards the stairs.
  890. >“How about you just leave this to me, and if anything unexpected happens I’ll text one of the girls and they can let you know.”
  891. >Twilight shoots Sunset with a withering stare.
  892. >“That’s hardly scientific!”
  893. >“Just because someone else is recording the data doesn’t make it any less scientific. Now go or you’ll be late!”
  894. >The Princess pouts, but reluctantly tromps her way down the stairs.
  895. >Pinkie bounces over to the landing and calls after her.
  896. “Bye Twilight, tell Dashie I hope she has a good morning!”
  897.
  898. >Standing there well until the pony-girl is out of sight, Pinkie continues waving her hand over her head and smiling.
  899. >At least until Sunset clears her throat.
  900. >“Well, knowledge waits for no one, so lets try and figure out what’s going on.”
  901. “Absoitively; I can’t wait to be an amazon!”
  902. >Sunset laughs and shakes her head.
  903. >“Well, I’m not going to make any promises because we’ve still got no idea how this works, or even if there’s any way to influence what gets affected. So this is mostly going to be trial and error.”
  904. >Puffing out her cheeks, Pinkie scowls and crosses her arms over her chest.
  905. “Well that doesn’t sound like much fun.”
  906. >With a small laugh, Sunset reaches out and ruffles the mass of frizzy hair on top of Pinkie’s head.
  907. >“I know, but it’s probably better for you if we do take it slow; believe me, waking up every morning to find that you’ve grown out of your clothes isn’t very fun either.”
  908. >Another pout from Pinkie as Sunset moves towards the stairs, saying something about getting comfortable.
  909. >Maybe growing out of her clothes wasn’t fun for Sunset, but the small girl couldn’t get enough of the idea!
  910. >While she was once around the middle of the pack in height, Pinkie now finds herself feeling closer to the bottom than the top.
  911. >Add to that a slightly wider and chubbier frame than any of her friends, and now the pink party girl has ended up seeming that much rounder in the presence of her significantly more statuesque friends.
  912. >Well, at least she still got the booty.
  913. >Smacking her rump with a giggle, she bounces after Sunset.
  914. >The house is quiet by this point, with both her family and the rest of her friends gone to take care of their daily lives.
  915. >The two girls dress themselves; Sunset doing the best she can with her undersized clothes, even having to forgo her jacket on account of the shoulder being too tight to be comfortable.
  916.
  917. >Pinkie marvels at the girl’s thick, tree-trunk like thighs as Sunset’s skirt rides up, and the masses of muscle in her forearms and along the exposed portion of her back.
  918. >A moment of brief self-consciousness strikes the plucky girl as she realizes that the two of them really are like night and day.
  919. >While any other girl might be put off by the thought, Pinkie can only bite her lip in anticipation.
  920. >After all, if her friends are any indication, there is a way to bridge that gap.
  921. >So, with an eager smile on her lips, the frizzy-haired girl leans forward and asks again.
  922. “Where do we start?”
  923. >Once again, to her dismay, Sunset shrugs.
  924. >“Like I said before, I’m not really sure. The other girls and I, we just talked and it happened, so starting from that point seems as good as any.”
  925. >Well that isn’t helpful at all.
  926. >What good is talking going to do?
  927. >Grunting quietly, Pinkie wobbles from side to side on her rump, looking none too pleased with how her morning is going so far.
  928. >Despite herself, Sunset giggles.
  929. >The tall teen brings a hand to her mouth in an attempt to hide it, but even her larger hands can’t shut out the wide smile on her face.
  930. >After a moment, Pinkie begins to giggle as well.
  931. “Gosh, I must look just like a kid when I’m doing that, huh?”
  932. >“A little.”
  933. >Sunset takes a moment to breathe, gradually calming herself down before speaking.
  934. >“I guess I don’t understand how anyone could be so excited about something like this.”
  935. >The frizzy-haired girl feels her jaw drop before hopping up and grabbing Sunset by the shoulders.
  936. >As best she can, anyway, it’s very awkward holding her arms at outward angles.
  937. “Are you kidding me? You’re gorgeous!”
  938. >The redhead’s laughter trails off into an uncertain chuckle, a small blush decorating her cheeks as she looks away.
  939. >“Pinkie, it’s not nice to tease.”
  940.
  941. “Well duh.”
  942. >The peppy girl rolls her eyes.
  943. “But there’s a difference between teasing and truth. As awkward as it must be, I would go through three months of grounding and weekend detention just to be half as built as you.”
  944. >Pinkie tries, and fails, to shake the girly giant for emphasis.
  945. “Do you realize how many parties I would miss doing that? One hundred and thirty-eight and that’s if I started today!”
  946. >Sunset gapes at her friend for a moment before giggling again.
  947. >The tickle of humor in her belly quickly grows into a full-on gut busting laugh, tears streaming down the redhead’s face.
  948. >After a few brief seconds, Pinkie’s own tinkling giggle joins in, the party girl flopping over top of Sunset after the larger of the two collapses on the ground, still holding her sides.
  949. >It’s amusing, of course, but once again Pinkie gets to revel in the feeling of feminine firmness that makes up much of Sunset Shimmer’s body.
  950. >A part of her never wants the moment to end.
  951. >But as all things do, it does.
  952. >However, it’s a quick and very abrupt end.
  953. >One minute, Sunset is laughing her heart out and the next?
  954. >A loud tearing sound sends the two girls into immediate silence.
  955. >The redhead gulps and shoos Pinkie off of her before stumbling to her feet.
  956. >She checks herself over, then turns to the smaller girl, concern obvious in her eyes.
  957. >“Pinkie, check my back, would you? I want to see what that sound was.”
  958. “Okie dokie.”
  959. >Doing her best to hide the disappointment in her voice, Pinkie looks her friend over.
  960. >The top is fine, the airy fabric still able to breathe and with plenty of room to accommodate any future changes for the time being.
  961. >But looking down at her skirt, well.
  962. >Pinkie’s eyes bulge as she drinks in the smooth slope of what had only a short while ago been a still slightly boney backside.
  963. >In fact, she thinks, cupping her own rump, with a little more oomph it might be able to give her own tushie a pushie out of the running for best booty.
  964.
  965. >Spotting a rather long rip along the hem of the tall girl’s skirt, Pinkie reaches out and gives the fabric a small tug.
  966. “I found it.”
  967. >Sunset turns, still red-faced but looking thoughtful with her thumb pressed against her lips.
  968. >“Well, it was unexpectedly fast, but it seems that we’ve already gotten a result. What about you, Pinkie? Do you feel any different?”
  969. “Not really.”
  970. >The smaller girl twirls on the ball of her foot, holding her arms out wide.
  971. “Do I look any different?”
  972. >Shaking her head, the two girls sigh as one.
  973. >But Sunset offers her a gentle smile.
  974. >“Well, I wouldn’t worry about it too much; the other girls didn’t even have anything happen to them until the morning after. Why don’t we wait and see for a little while?”
  975. >Pinkie pouts, but nods her head.
  976. >It’s a good two hours later when something feels off.
  977. >Sunset is engrossed in writing about the incidents so far, completely ignoring Pinkie, so it’s no trouble for her to slip away into the bathroom.
  978. >Leaning against the sink, the chubby teen leans close to the mirror, inspecting first one cheek and then the other, sticking out her tongue and saying ‘ahhh’ for good measure.
  979. >Even with just the goofy routine though, it’s clear that something’s changed.
  980. >Maybe it’s the way her face doesn’t swell up quite as much when she smiles.
  981. >Or her sleeves hanging a little looser than before.
  982. >Or, she notes, pulling up her dress up over her middle with a grin, it could be the fact that her waist has dropped almost an entire dress size AND then some in her tummy!
  983. >With a delighted giggle, Pinkie turns and admires her still large tush and gives it a little shake.
  984. “Oh yeah.”
  985. >She bobs her head and grins.
  986. “This is awesome!”
  987. >“Pinkie?”
  988. >Sunset raps on the door.
  989. >“I thought I heard you shouting. Is everything okay?”
  990. “Better than okay!”
  991. >Dropping the hem of her dress, Pinkie opens the door and grins.
  992. “I look great!”
  993.
  994.
  995. >Sizing her up for a moment, Sunset furrows her brow.
  996. >Then her eyes light up.
  997. >“Of course, if it’s magic then it has to be related to the Elements of Harmony.”
  998. >The giant girl hurries back to the bedroom, Pinkie following after with a slightly confused look on her face.
  999. “Huh?”
1000. >As she scribbles her notes out, Sunset does her best to explain.
1001. >“The magic, and it is magic, must be directly tied to the Elements. Rarity didn’t have to go to the lengths of taking measurements for my new body, but she was generous enough to make sure that my clothes not only fit, but fit well. Fluttershy stepped out of her comfort zone and empathized with me, being kind enough to offer me a critical eye when I needed it. Applejack was forward with me about her concerns, and-”
1002. >The girl pauses for a moment and then shakes her head.
1003. >“The point is that she was honest. And you, you made me laugh when all I’m feeling inside is self-conscious about my body; you even helped me to realize that maybe it’s not all bad.”
1004. >At last looking up from the page, Sunset smiles.
1005. >“This all goes back to the crown! I’ve got to tell Twilight, she’ll be so relieved!”
1006. >As Sunset’s fingers fumble for her phone, Pinkie continues to stand off to the side, processing everything she’s just heard.
1007. >After a few moments, her eyes light up.
1008. “So, I made this happen by making you laugh?”
1009. >Not bothering to look up from clumsily keying a message into her phone, the redhead smiles.
1010. >“I think so. That would make the most sense, at least.”
1011. >Giving a noncommittal grunt, Pinkie mulls that over for a moment more.
1012. >She looks down at her fingers, noting their slightly slender shape.
1013. >Flexing them a few times, the smaller girl glances up to her larger friend, then back to her fingers, then up again.
1014. >Repeating the process a few more times, a devilish smile crosses the still-chubby girl’s face.
  1015.
1016. >Sunset sends off her message, sighing in relief before setting her phone down.
1017. >“Well, now that that’s over with, maybe we can see about going to school.”
  1018. “That sounds boring.”
1019. >Raising an eyebrow, the tall teen turns around before feeling a quick poke in her side.
1020. >With a girlish yelp, Sunset hops back a short distance.
1021. >Of course, she trips over one of the numerous blankets on the floor and stumbles to the ground.
1022. >Before she can get up, a heavy weight settles around her middle, causing Sunset to grunt in surprise.
1023. >Straddling her belly, Pinkie flashes a mischievous grin.
  1024. “So, it’s laughter, right?”
1025. >“If my theory is to be believed, yes.”
1026. “And, what if I made you laugh more?”
1027. >Sticking her tongue out ever so slightly, Pinkie relishes the look of shock, fear, and even excitement in the gigantic girl’s eyes.
  1028. >“P-Pinkie… what-?”
1029. >As Sunset gulps, Pinkie flexes her fingers and leans in closer with the most serious expression she can muster.
  1030. “Shh, it’s for science.”
1031. >Outside, a man is walking his dog when, from the Pie house, a loud squeal of protest rings out before uncontrollable laughter begins.
  1032.
  1033.
  1034.
  1035. [Twilight 4]
  1036.
1037. >When Twilight and her friends arrive back at Pinkie’s house, a chill run’s down the Princess’ spine.
1038. >Perhaps it’s just something in the air, but the whole situation feels off somehow; as though something unwelcome has occurred
1039. >As the fivesome move into the house however, it turns out her feelings were validated.
  1040. >“Oh, hey girls!”
1041. >Pinkie Pie peeks out from the kitchen.
  1042. >“Welcome back!”
  1043. >Applejack whistles.
1044. >Rarity covers her mouth with her hand.
  1045. >Fluttershy mumbles something unintelligible.
  1046. >Rainbow stares
  1047. >And Twilight sighs.
1048. “Pinkie, what did you do?”
1049. >The girl giggles and steps up to her friends.
1050. >“Sunny and I did exactly what you wanted; we found out what’s the cause of the changes.”
1051. >Again, Twilight brings a hand to her face and sighs as she shakes her head.
1052. >While it’s hardly fair to call the other three girls’ changes modest, in comparison to Pinkie’s, they might as well be.
1053. >She still retains a goodly amount of her rounded features, but set atop long legs that left her towering over Twilight, Rainbow, and even Fluttershy, the now statuesque Pinkie Pie has a lot more room for her extra weight.
1054. >She’s not quite as tall as Applejack, but her now prolific bust might give Rarity a run for her money, and her already big bottom has passed any growth that Fluttershy has managed on her own.
1055. >Add to that a pair of longer, thicker legs and a firmer looking frame under her soft exterior, and the party planner looks a great deal like Sunset Shimmer after her first round of growth.
1056. >Even the hem of her dress is hardly better than a skirt at this point, flashing a bit of her colorful balloon-themed panties as she swishes her hips left and right.
1057. >Surprisingly, it’s the now red-faced Rainbow Dash who breaks the silence.
1058. >“What the hay did you do to yourself!?”
1059. >Pinkie’s cheery smile falls flat in an instant.
1060. >At once her eyes widen and she looks down at her body, as though realizing for the first time that there might be a problem with it.
  1061.
1062. >Gulping, Pinkie bites her lip and looks up at her friend.
  1063. >“D-Dashie, I-”
1064. >The sporty girl silences her friend with a withering glare, crossing her arms over her flat chest and gritting her teeth.
1065. >“I knew this was a bad idea, but Twilight insisted.”
1066. >Turning on the Princess, Rainbow jabs a finger towards her face.
1067. >“I even told you that we shouldn’t leave those two alone, but you didn’t listen. And now look, she’s gigantic! What kind of friend lets this happen?”
1068. >Stumbling back at the unexpected pushback, Twilight feels herself bump against the wall.
1069. >Rainbow takes a step closer before Applejack hooks her arms around the smaller girl from behind.
1070. >The enraged girl thrashes about, but against AJ’s enhanced size, it’s ultimately futile.
1071. >The farmgirl even has enough leeway to begin to chide her.
1072. >“Woah there, Sugar Cube; how about we give you a chance to cool your head before you say something you’ll regret.”
1073. >Rainbow gulps, sniffing and blinking her eyes several times before hanging her head and allowing herself to be pulled off into a separate portion of the house.
1074. >As the remaining four stand in the hall, Rarity clears her throat.
1075. >“If it’s all right with you, I’d like to check up on Sunset. If Pinkie Pie looks to be in such a state, I can only imagine what she’s gone through.”
1076. >Pinkie flinches, causing the sizeable seamstress to wince in return.
1077. >“Not that it’s anything bad, I’m sure; but Sunset tends to be a little sensitive after a round of growth. Best to ease her into knowing that we’re all back now.”
1078. >Walking by her statuesque sister, Rarity gently touches Pinkie’s shoulder and offers a conciliatory smile.
1079. >The frizzy-haired girl doesn’t react, but the now bustiest member of the group continues past.
1080. >Five now three, Fluttershy moves next.
1081. >But rather than following after one of the others, she steps forward and wraps Pinkie Pie up in a hug.
  1082.
1083. >Well, as best she can, anyway, seeing as her face is now even with the recently grown girl’s chest, and has to hold her head and neck at an awkward angle to get close enough to wrap her arms around the party planner as a result.
1084. >But it really is the thought that counts.
1085. >And as Pinkie gives up a few sobs, she hugs her smaller friend back.
  1086. >“There, there.”
1087. >Fluttershy murmurs, rubbing the larger girl’s back.
1088. >“Rainbow is just a little on edge right now. Everything is going to be okay.”
1089. >Pinkie attempts to say something, but it only comes out as a strangled burble to Twilight’s ears.
1090. >“Hm? Oh yes, I’m sure that she’s still your friend; we’re all still friends.”
1091. >Another sniffling and snorting series of whines.
1092. >“Yes, you look just fine. Different, but everything is where it should be.”
  1093. >Sniffle, cough, grunt.
1094. >“Yes, even though you’re crying. But dry your eyes now, okay?”
  1095. >“O-Okay.”
1096. >Rubbing at her eyes a few times with her palms, and then taking the offered handkerchief from Fluttershy, Pinkie coughs and then smiles at the Princess.
1097. “Wow Fluttershy, I couldn’t understand a word of what she was saying.”
1098. >An impressed Twilight nods to her shy friend, who giggles and locks her fingers together behind her back.
1099. >“I learned from years of consoling Rarity after a fashion disaster. It’s more-or-less second nature now.”
1100. >Another nod before the Princess turns her full attention to Pinkie Pie.
1101. >The two teens size each other up for a moment before Twilight offers the best smile she can.
1102. “So I guess that you two found out how the magic works?”
1103. >“Uh huh. Sunset says it has something to do with the crown and the Fall Formal.”
1104. >Rubbing her chin, the Princess bobs her head in agreement.
1105. “That is when she said she started noticing a difference in her body. But compared to the other girls, your changes are far more substantial.”
1106. >“And noticeable. It’s so much bigger than this morning.”
1107. >Fluttershy adds, giving her friend’s fanny a gentle push.
  1108.
1109. >Pinkie giggles, bumping her hip against her friend before offering a sheepish smile to Twilight.
1110. >“Well, actually Sunset said we should stop after the changes became noticeable. But…”
1111. >Dragging her bare toes against the floor, the tall girl swishes from side to side before biting her lip.
1112. >“But I didn’t want to, so I kind of forced her to continue. And so here we are!”
1113. >Sighing, the Princess closes her eyes and shakes her head.
1114. “Unfortunately we can’t take it back now. Why don’t you two stay down here, and I’ll go see how Rarity is doing with Sunset.”
  1115. >“Okie dokie!”
1116. >With a cheerful wave from both girls, Twilight marches further into the house.
1117. >Rarity is just closing the door to the bedroom when she spots her friend approaching.
1118. >It clicks into place and the fashionista positions herself in front of the door, doing her best to seem inconspicuous.
1119. >The strained smile gives her away immediately however.
  1120. “How bad is it?”
1121. >“Bad? Why would you think that, darling? Everything is perfectly fine!”
1122. >Twilight taps her foot against the floor and stares at her friend.
1123. “Rarity, I know that Sunset’s experiment went awry this morning, I heard it from Pinkie herself. You may as well tell me what I’m walking in to so that I don’t end up tripping over my tongue like every other time one of our friends ends up growing.”
1124. >The glitzy girl sighs, glancing down at her feet before replying.
1125. >“Twilight, as eager as I am to help Sunset, I’m not so sure that now is a good time.”
  1126. “Why’s that?”
1127. >Cocking her hand on her hip, the Princess raises an eyebrow as the increasingly flustered Rarity stumbles over her words.
1128. >“Well, dear, something truly tragic has happened to our friend.”
1129. >At once, Twilight’s scowl falls, quickly replaced with concern.
1130. “Oh gosh, is she okay?”
1131. >“Physically, I would say so, but… oh this is so horrible.”
1132. >The twitchy teen reaches up and twirls a bit of her hair, looking as though she might very nearly bite through her lower lip.
  1133.
1134. >Finally, with the most serious expression the developed diva can muster, she speaks delivers the news that has the Princess on edge.
1135. >“Twilight… she’s burst out of her boots.”
1136. >And just as quickly as it came, the anxiety in Twilight’s expression is gone, with only indifference in its place.
  1137. “She’s what?”
1138. >“Her boots, darling, they’ve been absolutely ruined. Completely unsalvageable.”
  1139. “…I’m going in.”
  1140. >“No!”
1141. >Rarity hisses in a far too dramatic tone, her larger hands gripping Twilight’s as the close around the knob.
  1142. >“You don’t understand, Twilight!”
1143. >Rolling her eyes, the Princess sighs.
1144. “So she just lost a pair of shoes, so what?”
  1145. >“Just a pair of shoes?”
1146. >An awestruck Rarity releases her friend’s hand.
1147. >“Darling, I don’t know about where you come from, but in our world breaking a heel is a nightmare come to life. I can’t even imagine what busting out of your boots must be like, but our friend is clearly in shock!”
1148. “Well, she might be, if Sunset and I weren’t both from Equestria where we don’t place much emphasis on shoes.”
1149. >The stacked seamstress’ mouth opens and then closes just as quickly.
1150. >Lost in thought for a moment, the girl finally steps aside and lets Twilight pass.
1151. >“Yes. Yes I suppose that is right. Apologies, dear; I suppose that was a little much.”
1152. >Twilight smiles at her friend and pushes her way inside.
1153. >Propped up against the wall, Sunset turns and offers a weak grin.
  1154. >“Hey. Welcome back.”
1155. >Moving closer, Twilight can’t help but marvel at the redhead’s legs, now almost as long as the Princess is tall.
1156. >Likewise, even from her position slouched against the wall, Sunset’s eye level easily falls somewhere between the Princess’s navel and her modest chest.
1157. >Simply put, Sunset has traversed her way from tall, into the realm of just plain big.
1158. >Her other features have followed suit, including a plush and fleshy but muscular backside that seems to be the grown girl’s new center of attention.
  1159.
1160. >And, true to Rarity’s unnecessary concerns, Sunset’s bare feet now bump up against one another, with the balls of her feet now easily larger the size of Twilight’s palms.
1161. >Clearing her throat, Sunset drag’s the Princess’ eyes up to her own.
1162. >“So, have you talked to Pinkie yet?”
1163. “Briefly; she said that the two of you may have found out the cause of the growth?”
  1164. >Bobbing her head, the unicorn-turned-human smiles.
  1165. >“I think that I have.”
1166. >Rocking forward onto her knees, Sunset ends up roughly eye level with the Princess, even if the latter has to crane her neck up a little.
1167. >“I can’t fully explain it, but when the girls act in accordance with their element around me, I think that triggers the change.”
1168. >Furrowing her brow, Twilight gives a small nod.
1169. “I suppose that might make sense; the Element of Magic is used to tie all the others together and you were exposed to all six during the Fall Formal. But in that case, why haven’t you experienced this already? The girls have been accommodating for you, right?”
1170. >Looking away, Sunset sighs and squeezes her arm.
1171. >“They’re doing the best that they can. I know it’s a lot to ask them to forgive me, but we’re getting along well enough.”
1172. >Shaking her head, the now truly titanic teen fixes Twilight with a serious look.
1173. >“But, I think it might have something to do with either the portal to Equestria being opened again, or you coming through.”
  1174. “Me?”
1175. >Sunset nods and Twilight brings a knuckle to her lips.
1176. “I suppose either of those might have an effect; especially if we consider that now we have all six Element Bearers in the same place.”
1177. >“And, you’re the Element of Magic. It might be that you’re the primary trigger, the reason why the changes are occurring and spreading.”
  1178.
1179. >Mulling that over for a moment, Twilight smiles and touches Sunset’s shoulder.
1180. “If that’s the case, then we have to tell the other girls what’s causing them to change. Now that we know that it’s them living into their Element, we can make sure that there’s not another round of exposure. With any luck, you all might begin to shrink back towards something resembling normal.”
1181. >The two girls stare at each other for a long moment as the reality of that statement begins to set in.
  1182. >Frowning, the redhead sighs.
1183. >“But, that’s basically asking everyone to ignore me.”
1184. “It’s for the best, Sunset.”
  1185. >“I suppose.”
1186. “Great. I’ll go tell the others.”
1187. >Smiling, Twilight hurries out of the bedroom, leaving behind a rather sullen Sunset.
1188. >But the Princess doesn’t notice, too obsessed with putting the latest theory into practice
1189. >It’s important that things go back to normal, even if that means a little discomfort in the process.
1190. >If she tells her friends what to do, then everything will fall into place.
1191. >There’s not even the slightest thought in her head that it might not work.
1192. >Or the conflict that might arise because of it.
  1193.
  1194.
  1195. [Sunset Shimmer 1]
  1196.
1197. >They are going at it again.
1198. >“If that’s the case, then she shouldn’t even be here!”
1199. >Sunset sighs, resisting the urge to curl up into a ball.
1200. >Not that she couldn’t, but more that she shouldn’t.
1201. >With her gradual increases in size, it is becoming more and more difficult to move around in spaces meant for a girl more than half her size.
1202. >Every movement now needs to be calculated so that she doesn’t end up bumping her head on a doorway, or kicking through a piece of dry wall.
1203. >Thankfully, the girls have been accommodating.
  1204. >Except for one.
1205. >“If Sunset’s the cause, we need to get her as far away from everyone else as possible.”
1206. >Despite being out of sight, Rainbow Dash’s words ring out as clear as can be.
1207. >Ever since the conversation surrounding what needs to happen began, the sporty speedster has been railing against keeping Sunset around.
1208. >Even with Fluttershy undoubtedly trying to get her to calm down, the tomboy isn’t having any of it.
1209. >“That’s all well and good Rainbow, but we can’t just throw Sunset out on the street. How is she going to explain her condition?”
1210. >“More than that, it just ain’t proper.”
1211. >Well, at least it isn’t all bad, with Rarity and Applejack there to vouch for her.
1212. >Pinkie too, but there’s still a whole host of drama stewing between Dash and the party planner, which nobody is quite ready to deal with yet.
1213. >Which just leaves Twilight Sparkle
1214. >“Girls, please; you have to be reasonable about this. Even if you’re consciously aware of your actions, the more time you spend around Sunset increases the chance that you might accidentally-”
1215. >“Be nice to her? Treat her like a friend, like you told us to?”
1216. >AJ’s rather venomous response causes Twilight to fall silent and the rest of the group follows suit.
1217. >At last, there’s an audible huff that can only come from Rainbow.
1218. >“Friend or not, I don’t think she should come to the showcase tonight.”
  1219.
  1220.
1221. >“Well darling, it’s not as though she has anything that fits her. Oh, Fluttershy, remind me to stop by the Boutique on our way back; I’ve got her new measurements and-”
1222. >A loud slam and the clattering of dishes causes the girls to squeal, and even Sunset jerks back from her eavesdropping post.
  1223. >“Sunset this, Sunset that.”
1224. >Rainbow says; her voice barely audible.
1225. >“It’s like you’ve forgotten that my band-”
  1226. >“Our band.”
1227. >Rarity’s correction goes clear through Dash’s ears, the small girl not even pausing for a moment.
1228. >“-has to beat the Dazzling in order to save the school!”
1229. >And then the arguing starts up again.
1230. >Four distinct voices snap back and forth at each other, while Fluttershy tries and fails to get a word in edgewise every few seconds.
1231. >Twilight is staying quiet, but for Sunset, things have reached a tipping point.
1232. >Despite her best attempts to stay quiet, the house gives an ominous creak as she moves towards the girls.
1233. >Almost immediately they fall quiet, but as Sunset rounds the corner, the results of the fight are obvious.
1234. >Dishes scattered, popcorn tossed across the floor, Applejack and Rainbow are dusting themselves off while the rest of the girls look sheepishly down at the floor.
  1235. >Except Twilight.
1236. >“Sunset, you have something to add?”
  1237. “I do.”
1238. >The Princess nods and the other girls look up.
1239. “I know you’re all worried about what this means for the showcase and the Dazzlings, and being concerned about me too. But Twilight’s right; we can’t get a hold on my problem until we know how it works.”
1240. >Forcing a smile, she looks around the room.
1241. “For now, I think it’s best if I sleep separate from you girls.”
1242. >A small sound of protest goes up, which Sunset silences with a wave of her hand and a stern tutting of her tongue.
  1243.
1244. “I’ll still be here, and from what I’ve seen the attic is plenty comfy. Besides”
1245. >She pauses long enough to laugh before continuing.
1246. “I don’t really know how we’re all going to fit in the same room without sleeping on top of each other any more.”
1247. >The four girls who had already undergone changes look amongst themselves and then nod.
1248. >Twilight sighs in relief, while Rainbow still puts upon the look of a wounded child, crossing her arms over her chest and refusing to make eye contact.
1249. “And you’re right about the showcase too; I’m way too big to stand in the crowd, so you all go tonight, win, and then the only rounds left are the semi-finals tomorrow afternoon and the finals that night.”
1250. >And so the matter is settled.
1251. >The girls gather together their instruments a short while later and make their way towards the CHS gym, leaving Sunset alone.
1252. >With a reluctant sigh, she gathers up her things and moves them up to the attic, sweeping out a slightly more comfortable living space as she waits.
1253. >The girls win, of course, but from the way that they’re bickering, their latest victory might be the most stressful so far.
1254. >Nobody’s in a good mood; that much is clear even from Sunset’s position high above them.
1255. >Doing her best to shut out the sounds of infighting from below, the redhead pulls her modified two-length bed sheet above her shoulders but sleep doesn’t come easy.
1256. >At last, the sounds from below die down and the house falls still.
1257. >Sunset’s eyelids droop as she feels herself finally beginning to relax, when a creak at the stairs catches her attention.
1258. >Rolling over onto her side, the giant girl searches the darkness until a somewhat familiar bloby shape appears.
1259. >“Sunset, are you still up?”
  1260. “Fluttershy.”
1261. >The redhead sighs and smiles.
1262. “You scared me for a moment. Shouldn’t you be in bed already?”
  1263.
  1264. >“Oh, yes.”
1265. >The quiet girl steps closer and places a small duffel bag near Sunset’s feet.
1266. >“But Rarity wanted to be sure that you have something to wear for tomorrow, and I said I would bring them to you.”
1267. >Sitting up, the titanic teen offers up a small laugh.
1268. “Well I appreciate it, but I’m not really planning on going anywhere until I start shrinking. Or Pinkie’s family kicks me out.”
1269. >The pink-haired girl makes a small, disappointed sound as she looks to the ground.
1270. >“Oh. Well, we were thinking that tomorrow, we would like you to be there with us at the semi-finals. Applejack says you can stand backstage where no one can see you, and even Rainbow is okay with it.”
1271. >The words hang in the air for a moment before Fluttershy corrects herself.
1272. >“Actually, Rainbow’s not really okay with it, but the rest of us really, really, really want you there.”
1273. >Sunset takes a deep breath, sighs, and forces a smile.
1274. “In that case, maybe; but you really shouldn’t be here Fluttershy, and you shouldn’t be kind to me either.”
1275. >“I’m well prepared for that.”
1276. >The redhead raises an eyebrow as her busty friend pulls a blanket out from behind her.
1277. >“Rarity and I agreed that nobody should have to sleep alone, especially in a kind of spooky place like an attic.”
1278. >It’s then that Sunset notices the rather shifty look in her friend’s green eyes.
1279. >Left to right, left to right.
1280. >The clench of her jaw.
1281. >And the white-knuckle grip on her blanket.
1282. >Stifling a laugh, the girly giant shakes her head.
1283. “Don’t worry about putting yourself out there for me, I need to be quarantined so that-”
  1284. >“I don’t like that arrangement.”
1285. >The rather flat, direct response catches Sunset off guard.
1286. >“I don’t like that you have to be separated from everyone else. Most of the other girls don’t either.”
1287. >Kneeling down next to her, Fluttershy takes her larger friend’s hand and squeezes it gently between both of hers.
  1288.
1289. >“I want to stay here with you tonight. I might get spooked easily, but if you’re nearby then I won’t have to worry, right?”
1290. >Sunset sighs, shaking her head.
  1291. “I don’t think that’s a good idea. Go back downstairs.”
1292. >“If I do, someone else is going to come up. Rarity already said she’s next if you reject me.”
1293. >Closing her eyes, the redhead chuckles.
1294. “You four just aren’t going to leave me alone, are you? All right, but you have to explain to Twilight in the morning.”
1295. >An excited and not-quite-human sounding squeak escapes from the pink-haired girl as she arranges herself a sleeping spot.
1296. >Ending up perpendicular to the giant girl and with her head pillowed on Sunset’s stomach, Fluttershy smiles.
  1297. >“Good night, Sunset.”
1298. >Reaching down, the redhead takes one of her friend’s hands and squeezes.
  1299. “Good night, Fluttershy.”
1300. >Even knowing that tomorrow is going to be incredibly awkward, sleep comes quicker than expected.
1301. >It doesn’t stop her tummy from tumbling, knowing an inevitable change is coming.
1302. >But until she finally drops off, Sunset can’t quite place if it’s anxiety.
  1303. >Or anticipation.
  1304.
  1305.
  1306.
  1307. [Rainbow Dash 1]
  1308.
1309. >Rainbow’s morning begins as it always does.
  1310. >Wake up early.
  1311. >Slip outside for a run.
1312. >Come back, get clean, and possibly slink off for another short round of shut-eye
1313. >Especially because it’s Saturday, and the Rainbooms have the semi-finals in a few hours.
1314. >But as she tiptoes back into the crowded bedroom, trying not to glare at her enhanced friends still sleeping forms, she notices something is off.
1315. >Fluttershy is missing; in fact she was already gone when Dash had left, but the sporty girl had written it off as a late night trip to the bathroom.
1316. >Biting her lip, Rainbow’s ears strain, hoping that she somehow missed Fluttershy when she came back.
1317. >But the house is still aside from the steady rhythmic breathing of four other girls, and the pounding of Dash’s heart in her ears.
1318. >Dread knots itself in her stomach as she high steps out of the room and moves towards the attic.
1319. >Despite the creaky stairs, nobody in the house seems to take notice.
1320. >Reaching the landing, Rainbow’s eyes strain for several seconds.
1321. >And then her lips press into a thin, scowling line.
  1322. “Fluttershy.”
1323. >She all but seethes, earning a sleepy chirp from the pile of girl towards the middle of the room.
1324. >The pink-haired girl in question yawns, sitting up and stretching her arms high over her head.
1325. >Well, she tries and manages to get one up, but the other still has fingers entwined with the Sunset Shimmer’s still sleeping, hulking frame.
1326. >That doesn’t stop Fluttershy from giggling all the same and twisting her waist towards the sound.
1327. >Almost immediately upon catching sight of her friend the doe-eyed girl’s shoulders droop, like a dog that knows it’s done something wrong but doesn’t have the will to slink away to the corner.
1328. >Rainbow’s belly is inflamed, tying itself in knots as she wrestles with the question of if she should be furious or impressed with her friend’s figure.
  1329.
1330. >While she had been exposed previously, aside from getting a trunk most girls could only dream of, Fluttershy’s figure hadn’t changed much.
1331. >She was still relatively slim and slender, and when set amongst the much more statuesque Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and of course Sunset, she was practically invisible.
1332. >That is not the case any longer.
1333. >Long, girlishly slim legs stretch down from her hips, forcing her formerly ankle length sleeping pants up far closer to her knees.
1334. >What once had been a sizeable backside has developed into a full on donk with matching thighs; all thick with a woman’s softness, and meaty enough that Rainbow could probably lose her fingers in them if she tried to squeeze them.
1335. >Her torso is longer too, but retaining that theme of willowy slenderness that stretches from her toes to her nose.
  1336. >Except for her butt.
  1337. >And chest.
1338. >Always the top heavy girl of the bunch, Fluttershy has done well to hide her size through various means.
1339. >But, once again, Rainbow is reminded of how truly massive the pink-haired girl is in comparison to the rest.
  1340. >Especially her flat self.
1341. >Glancing down, Fluttershy makes a small, quiet sound as she reaches up to touch her chest.
  1342. >“Oh.”
1343. “Oh? Is that seriously the best you can come up with?”
1344. >Mumbling something incoherent, the stacked teen attempts to corral her breasts with her palms, as though pushing against them will somehow force the fleshy mass to be absorbed into her chest again.
1345. >All it really does is make the pliable skin spread like dough, threatening to burst out and over her neckline or slip out under the hem of her short shirt.
1346. >Tearing her eyes away from the pale, creamy flesh of underboob, Rainbow shakes her head and stares at Fluttershy.
  1347.
1348. “What the hay do you think you’re doing up here? She’s supposed to be quarantined!”
1349. >“Oh, I couldn’t let her stay up here by herself.”
1350. >Making a face, the meek girl averts her eyes and drags a nail along the floorboard.
1351. >“Friends don’t let friends go through difficult times alone, after all.”
1352. >Gritting her teeth, Rainbow storms over and grabs her friend’s hand.
1353. >Fluttershy offers up a plaintive squeak as she stumbles to her feet, while Sunset stirs beside her.
  1354. >“Hm, ‘Shy?”
1355. >The throaty grunt all but grumbles out as Rainbow looks her ‘friend’ over.
1356. >She’s not too much taller, thankfully, but Sunset has filled out in other directions.
1357. >Whereas before she had been bottom heavy enough to take up two, possibly even two-and-a-half airline seats, now the redhead has a tremendous rack, one that can compete with her broad backside.
1358. >The girl’s cleavage, stuffed into her shirt as it is, is still probably deep enough to swallow a good chunk of Rainbow’s athletic body, perhaps from her feet to her waist.
1359. >While she isn’t a tall girl, the thought is impressive.
  1360. >And infuriating.
1361. >As Sunset’s green eyes open to the world, Rainbow’s rage and frustration take over.
  1362. “You.”
1363. >Jabbing a finger in the still wobbly girl’s face, Dash scowls.
  1364. >But the words simply won’t come.
1365. >And so she stands there, finger extended, with a truly vicious tongue lashing just waiting to get out but having nowhere to go.
1366. >So she settles for something vague and tough sounding.
1367. “Stay away from my band.”
1368. >Pulling Fluttershy again, the two teens go downstairs, leaving their amazonian acquaintance to suffer through yet another bodily adjustment.
1369. >There is, of course, dispute once Rainbow wakes up the other girls.
1370. >Surprisingly, only she and Twilight are seriously concerned about the events of last night.
1371. >If anything, the four grown girls seem quite please with how things have panned out.
  1372.
1373. >Rarity gushes over her friend, shuffling through her bag of clothes, almost as though she expected this to happen.
1374. >The thought makes Rainbow grit her teeth.
1375. >Between two-magical pony-girls and the foursome of towering cuties, Dash suddenly finds herself as the odd one out.
  1376. >But she’s awesome!
  1377. >This simply won’t do.
  1378. >Not at all.
1379. >And so, as Twilight again tries to explain the importance of quarantine, Rainbow is already musing about how she might dominate the spotlight at today’s semi-final.
1380. >After all, the frontgirl can’t lose out to the back up performers.
1381. >So there’s really only one song to play.
1382. >Forcing a smile, Rainbow goes about her day, waiting until it's time for the Rainbooms to perform.
1383. >She's not going to be upstaged by anyone.
1384. >Not even if they’re twice her height.
  1385.
  1386.
  1387.
  1388. [Adagio Dazzle]
  1389.
1390. >“We made it to the finals!”
1391. >Sonata Dusk wriggles her hips back and forth in the bleacher seat in an impromptu victory dance.
1392. >Beside her, Aria Blaze rolls her eyes and gives the cheery girl’s ponytail a tug.
1393. >“As if there were any doubt, I mean we were up against Smash Sentry and his Goon Squad.”
1394. >Despite the scowl on Sonata’s lips, she turns with the other Dazzlings and watches as Flash throws a temper tantrum at being knocked out.
1395. >The pendants around their necks flash, and Adagio shudders.
1396. >Bringing a finger to her lips, she pulls down gently towards her chin and smirks.
  1397. “Delicious.”
1398. >A round of giggles erupts from the three girls.
1399. >It’s true; coming to Canterlot High may have been the best idea ever.
1400. >Everyone in the school is practically oozing Equestrian magic from their pores, and the trio is undoubtedly gaining in strength.
1401. >But there’s one hitch, one wrinkle, that still has to be smoothed out.
1402. >A six man band competing with them for the title.
1403. >Flexing her fingers in front of her face, Adagio Dazzle silences her cohorts with a look.
1404. “Well they certainly got what they deserved; now let’s continue to watch the disaster that is the Rainbooms’ implosion.”
1405. >“But aren’t Trixie and her band up first?”
1406. >Adagio and Aria look at one another, before groaning in protest, much to the stunned Sonata’s surprise.
1407. >“Those dweebs? I still don’t know how they managed to get this far with one song.”
1408. “Agreed. In terms of talent, all three of them are-”
1409. >Cutting her friend off with a low whistle, Aria makes a show of swinging her arm around and giving a thumbs down before blowing a raspberry.
1410. >Meanwhile, Sonata shrugs and begins bobbing her head in time with the Illusions’ performance.
  1411. >“I don’t know, they’re kind of catchy! Better believe~ hey!”
  1412.
1413. >As Aria and Sonata engage in another round of hair pulling, Adagio can only roll her eyes and groan.
1414. >Trixie and her band are a stepping stone, at best.
1415. >With a little polishing they might shine, but compared to the three Sirens, they’re not even second-rate.
1416. >Not that the Rainbooms are in a much better position, but at least they have a wider song selection and more magic than Adagio could have dreamed of finding.
1417. >But, there is something else that’s caught the eye of the girl with a veritable mountain of blonde curls.
1418. >Lately, the Rainbooms have seemed different.
  1419. >Physically different.
1420. >Like every time she turns around, one of them is busting out of her clothes, different.
1421. >And so, as Trixie marches off the stage, Adagio leans forward.
1422. >The stage goes dark for several seconds before the music begins, an energetic tune with a steady chant in the background.
1423. >Five members of the band are cast in the spotlight.
1424. >Out of all of them, Twilight Sparkle seems to be the most out of place, but as she’s standing off to the side, the differences aren’t especially obvious.
1425. >Once Rainbow Dash comes sliding out from the wings however, Adagio can’t help but bubble over with laughter.
1426. >Already a small girl, as the eager guitarist strums her way across the stage to each of her bandmates.
1427. >She’s able to stand on her toes and be eye to eye with Twilight, but any hope of doing the same with her friends quickly goes flying out the window.
1428. >The petite girl is barely even waist level with the rest of her band mates, coming up only to the towering Fluttershy’s hip.
1429. >As Aria and Sonata join in behind her, the breathless Adagio turns and wipes a tear from her eyes.
  1430. “This isn’t a showcase, it’s a freak show!”
1431. >Aria joins in with a fresh round of giggles while Sonata suddenly stops short.
  1432.
  1433.
1434. >Scrunching up her face, she stares at the stage for several seconds before blinking at the other Dazzlings.
1435. >“But isn’t that, you know, kind of hot? I mean, having all that leg, hip, and chest for people to drool over must be pretty great, right?”
1436. >The three girls look down at themselves and fall silent.
1437. >Aria’s the first to speak up, and does so with her usual scowl.
1438. >“Yeah, maybe; but it’s sure not improving their playing at all.”
1439. “Good point, but Sonata is right as well. Bigger is better in most cases.”
1440. >There’s a sudden spark of magic that draws the three Siren’s attention back to the stage.
1441. >Rainbow Dash has gone into full-on solo mode, and Adagio can swear she sees something happening when, out from backstage, a truly massive body comes hurtling out and tackles her.
1442. >The song ends abruptly and, as the lights come up, the crowd jeers and cheers as it’s revealed who the assaulter is.
1443. >None other than Sunset Shimmer.
1444. >Or, at least a giant girl who is a dead ringer for the redhead.
1445. >Sizing up the truly massive teen, Adagio can’t help but wet her lips.
1446. >Amidst the shouting of the crowd, the blonde grabs her bandmates by the hands and tugs them out of the bleachers.
  1447. >“Adagio! Hey!”
1448. >“What do you think you’re doing, puffball?”
1449. >Glaring at Sonata and Aria in turn, the lead Siren smirks.
1450. “Come on girls, there’s work to be done. We need to ensure that the Rainbooms make it to the finals.”
  1451. >“Pft, as if.”
  1452. >Aria rolls her eyes.
1453. >“They’re better than One Trick and the Misfits, but they didn’t even finish their song.”
1454. >“Yeah, wouldn’t doing that be like, uh, cheating?”
1455. >Both Sirens stare at Sonata and shake their heads together.
  1456. >Adagio cuts in first.
  1457.
  1458.
1459. “Since you’re both a little slow on the uptake, let me explain.”
1460. >Pointing up towards the stage, and the bickering band mates on it, Adagio begins.
1461. “Take a look; they’re already drawing battle lines. With a little planning and a push, we can have all that delicious Equestrian magic for ourselves. But”
  1462. >Holding up a finger, she smirks.
1463. “More than that, I think we can get even more by playing aggressive and taking every single inch that the Rainbooms are willing to give us.”
1464. >Cocking her hand on her hip, Adagio raises an eyebrow and gives herself a few quick pats.
1465. >Aria’s eyes widen almost immediately, and she glances down to her chest.
1466. >A conspiratorial grin flashes across her lips as she steps forward.
1467. >“Count me in; I want to leave everyone who looks at me drooling.”
1468. >Turning to the pony-tailed member of the group, the two watch as Sonata’s face wrinkles up in thought.
  1469. >Finally, she speaks up.
  1470. >“I don’t think Trixie’s going to like that.”
1471. >Shaking her head, Adagio reaches out and pats he blue-haired girl on the cheek.
1472. “Sonata, why don’t you stop worrying about things, and just let me do the thinking from now on?”
  1473. >“…That’s probably a good idea. Okay!”
1474. >With Sonata back to her cheery self, Adagio holds in a string of grumbles about inept cohorts as she drags them towards the backstage.
1475. >A quick hypnotic tune has the Principals more than eager to set up a showdown between the Dazzlings and the Rainbooms.
1476. >And it’s hardly any effort then to conspire a way for Trixie to ‘eliminate’ the competition.
1477. >Adagio can’t help but revel in her schemes.
1478. >It’s so much nicer to have everyone else do the heavy lifting.
  1479. >But after tonight?
1480. >There might not be anything heavy left that she can’t move with ease.
1481. >The very thought makes the blonde shiver in delight.
  1482.
  1483.
  1484.
  1485. [Rainbow Dash 2]
  1486.
1487. >Furious does not even begin to cover how Rainbow Dash is feeling at the moment.
1488. >For the past two hours, she and her bulging ‘buddies’ have been stuck under the performance stage.
1489. >While it would be comfortable enough for seven girls of average size, five of their number are anything but.
1490. >Sunset Shimmer can hardly move, cramped up between two walls.
1491. >Even counting the comparatively tiny Twilight, Rainbow has the most mobility of the bunch.
1492. >And so she’s taken it upon herself to get the gang out of this jam.
1493. >Throwing herself at the door again, the tiniest of the teens rebounds with an unladylike grunt before hitting the ground.
1494. >From behind her, Applejack sighs.
1495. >“Just give it up, Rainbow; that door’s stiffer than Granny’s freezer stockpile of applebutter.”
  1496. “What? No way!”
1497. >Puffing out her cheeks, the athlete glares at her blonde friend as above them, Trixie’s final performance of ‘Tricks Up My Sleeves’ comes to a close.
1498. “You guys might be willing to throw in the towel- tablecloth- whatever it is you use to dry yourself, but I’m not!”
1499. >Across the room, Twilight tugs her knees up to her chest and stares at the floor.
1500. >“It doesn’t matter anyway. I can’t even piece together a simple song to counter the Dazzling’s music. Even if we get out, what are we going to do?”
1501. “Well we have to do something!”
1502. >Looking around the room, Rainbow feels a twinge of anger as the much larger girls adopt sullen, tired looks.
1503. >From above, a slow, intentional percussive beat begins to rain down.
1504. >The Dazzlings are taking the stage.
1505. >And somehow, that only serves to get her even more riled up.
1506. “Oh, so now that it’s tough you’re going to drop out? If I’d known this was going to happen, I never would have started my band.”
  1507. >“Consarnit Rainbow!”
1508. >Smacking her palm against the floor, Applejack bares her teeth.
1509. >“If I hear you call the Rainbooms ‘your’ band one more time, I’m liable to snap you in two!”
  1510.
1511. >“I’m in agreement with Applejack.”
1512. >Rarity scowls, tossing her hat into the ring.
1513. >“It may have been your idea at first, but we all put time and energy into trying to make the band fun.”
1514. >From another corner of the room, Pinkie Pie buzzes her lips.
1515. >“Fun? Being in the Rainbooms isn’t fun; it’s like a week of dirty dishes, trash duty, AND extra homework! Except all the time, so it’s even worse than that!”
1516. >Rainbow’s heart seizes up in her chest as the girls begin to turn on her.
1517. >Out of habit, she turns to Fluttershy.
1518. >Even if the world turns against her, Rainbow will always have the meek, little-
  1519. >Staring.
1520. >Despite her intentions otherwise, the tiny teen finds herself caught up in Fluttershy’s gaze.
1521. >She’s not seething like the others, but she is scowling.
1522. >A strange, foreign expression on the usually awkward girl’s face.
1523. >After several seconds of silence, she huffs and turns her head away.
1524. >“All I wanted was to help you with the songs. But you won’t even let me do that.”
1525. >With her longtime support pulled out from under her, Rainbow Dash collapses.
1526. >From her seated position, she watches as the four girls turn their complaints and attentions on one another.
  1527. >Applejack is too strict.
1528. >Rarity is too obsessed with the clothes they’ll be wearing on stage.
  1529. >Pinkie’s timing is terrible.
1530. >Fluttershy’s too scared to be anywhere near the spotlight.
1531. >On and on, and on.
1532. >Every little issue that’s been left hanging in the air comes to bear fruit at the same time.
1533. >Between the sound from above, and the anger around her, the air is thick and hard to breathe.
1534. >There’s even a strange green glow billowing up from each of her friends.
1535. >And, as she watches, Rainbow can almost swear she sees them getting smaller.
  1536. >No; they are.
1537. >Applejack is transitioning from tall to simply solid.
1538. >Rarity’s clothes don’t sit as snugly as before.
  1539. >Pinkie Pie’s rounding out again.
1540. >And Fluttershy looks like she’s about to be swallowed up by her dress.
  1541.
1542. >Gritting her teeth, Rainbow resists the urge to curl up into a ball and die and instead casts her eyes towards the source of the problem.
1543. >With what little will she has left, Rainbow climbs to her feet and stumbles across the room.
1544. >Past her arguing, shrinking friends.
  1545. >Past the sullen Twilight.
  1546. >To Sunset Shimmer.
1547. >The two lock eyes and Rainbow can’t help but curl her lip in frustration.
  1548. >This is the girl.
1549. >The girl who made everything about her.
1550. >Who put them in this pinch.
1551. >Who refused to listen to anyone who tried to tell her what to do.
  1552. >Who…
1553. >Unclenching her fist, Rainbow gulps.
  1554. “…It’s me.”
1555. >Sunset raises an eyebrow as the sporty girl clenches her fists again and blinks back tears.
  1556. “It’s me. I’m that girl.”
1557. >Shifting her body, Sunset moves so that her face is closer to Rainbow’s before asking
  1558. >“What do you mean?”
1559. >Rubbing at her eye, Rainbow sniffs once before clearing her throat.
1560. “I-I’ve been a bad friend. I was putting everything off on you because I didn’t want to deal with the thought of being responsible.”
1561. >Again, she starts to tear up and shakes her head sternly.
1562. “What, what the hay, right? I come over here and plan to tear into you and now I’m, I’m confessing.”
1563. >In the midst of a series of blinks, Rainbow misses as Sunset moves forward, but flinches as she feels the now much smaller arms of the redhead wrap around her shoulders.
1564. >It seems that whatever was affecting the other girls is taking a toll on her too.
1565. >Leaning to her ear, Sunset responds quietly.
1566. >“It’s not just you. I admit, I haven’t been taking very well to being the seventh wheel, especially since Twilight’s back.”
1567. >The room falls still as the two girls hold each other, the other five watching intently as Sunset continues.
1568. >“I thought it was selfish of me to try and force my way into the group, especially after everything that I’ve done. But, believe me, all I really ever wanted was to be friends with you. All of you.”
  1569.
1570. >The two girls, very nearly eye to eye at this point, manage to earn a smile from the other.
1571. >Rainbow’s hands slide up to Sunset’s and, fingers entangling together, she grins.
1572. “Well, that sounds like as good a place as any to start to me. I’m just sorry it took you everyone starting to shrink away for me to realize that I was in the wrong.”
1573. >Frowning, the redhead looks down, then back up at her friend.
1574. >“Uh, that stopped when you apologized. I mean, I lost a lot of height but-”
1575. >Eyes bulging, Rainbow looks down and, after a stunned moment, lets loose a delighted whoop.
1576. “What, oh, oh wow! I have legs! Long, long legs!”
1577. >Giving herself a delighted pat down, the sporty girl can’t help but let out a cheer as she discovers that it’s not simply her legs, but her entire body that’s filled out.
1578. >Perhaps not to the degree that the other’s had, but after their own, respective losses, Rainbow will easily fit in with the other four.
1579. >As she adjusts to her new body shape, the other girls begin to make up as well, and the air starts to clear.
1580. >With her heart thudding away in her chest, Rainbow realizes that she feels both happy and hopeful since the Battle of the Bands began.
  1581. >It’s a wonderful feeling.
1582. >Now if they can just get out and-
1583. >Off to the side, there’s a low, groaning creak.
1584. >The seven girls turn to see Spike and a girl standing in the doorway.
1585. >Adopting a smug smile, the purple and green dog says, quite simply
  1586. >“Kept you waiting, huh?”
  1587.
  1588.
  1589.
  1590.
  1591. [Twilight 5]
  1592.
1593. >The seven girls, plus Spike and his new friend, hurry out past the stage.
1594. >Twilight glances back at her friends and smiles, more than happy to see them not at each other’s throats for once.
1595. >Rainbow seems to be in a particular pinch though as she tugs at her performance costume.
1596. >“Jeez Rarity, could you have made this any tighter?”
1597. >“I told you it would be snug, darling; but this ought to teach you something about growing before a show.”
1598. >Fluttershy giggles at the two girls and then looks up towards the front.
1599. >“Twilight, are you really sure that it’s okay to use my song as the counterspell? I’d hate for it not to be good enough.”
1600. “That’s the beauty of it, Fluttershy.”
1601. >As they reach the top of the hill, Twilight takes the meek girl’s hands and smiles.
1602. “I don’t think it matters what song we play as long as we do it together; as friends. With all the care you’ve put into it, there’s no way that this song won’t be strong enough.”
  1603. >“She’s right about that.”
1604. >Slinging her arm over Fluttershy’s shoulders, Applejack grins.
1605. >“We’re gonna light this place up like, uh-”
  1606. >“Like a fireworks display!”
1607. >The blonde winces a little at the rather blunt comparison, but shoots Pinkie Pie a grin anyway.
  1608. >“Absolutely.”
1609. >One transforming car sequence later, the Rainbooms stand ready to play.
1610. >Twilight shivers slightly as she looks down across the venue, seeing everyone gazing up at the Dazzlings with nothing short of pure adoration.
1611. >And there’s a lot to gaze up to, too!
1612. >The trio of Sirens has already passed the point of simply being tall, and are now simply towering; perhaps not quite as tall as Sunset at her greatest height, but certainly close enough to bring it into question.
  1613.
1614. >Compared to her still lengthy but realistically sized friends, a certain measure of doubt creeps into Twilight’s heart.
1615. >The Dazzlings are all but bursting out of their costumes, while the Rainbooms, aside from Rainbow and herself, can barely fill them out after their time under the stage.
1616. >If size is somehow tied to magic, the six girls might be thoroughly outmatched.
1617. >Gulping, Twilight turns back to her friends.
1618. >They all give her affirming smiles.
1619. >A quick glance to Sunset and she watches as the former giant cups her hands over her mouth, grinning as she say
1620. >“You can do it, Twilight!”
1621. >The Princess nods and takes a deep, steadying breath.
  1622. >And she sings.
1623. >And the Rainbooms join in.
1624. >Almost immediately the crowd undergoes a shift.
1625. >Several onlookers turn towards the new performers and Twilight can see the sparks of recognition in their eyes.
1626. >Unfortunately, their hope is quickly squashed by the Dazzlings’ song reasserting itself as the dominant melody.
  1627. >But Twilight isn’t intending to stop.
1628. >True to Pinkie’s words, the sky is lit up in short order with a light show on par with the Fall Formal.
1629. >Rainbooms and Dazzlings clash, but the three exiled Sirens really are too much to handle.
1630. >With a boom and a crack of magic, the Dazzlings’ melody again smacks down the Rainbooms’, only this time the girls fall with it.
1631. >But as Twilight stumbles towards the ground, she feels a pair of familiar hands settle on her shoulders.
1632. >The Princess gulps, looking up into the face of a girl still several heads taller than her.
1633. >And an idea comes to her.
1634. >Shoving the microphone into her larger friend’s hands, she grins.
1635. “Sunset, you’re one of us too; we can’t do it without you!”
1636. >The redhead glances at the mic for a moment.
  1637. >Then, she grins.
  1638. >“I won’t let you down, Twilight.”
  1639.
1640. >The song she sings isn’t especially difficult; the other girls pick up on it quickly.
1641. >Even Twilight can feel the familiar sensation of magic guiding her voice through the unfamiliar lyrics.
1642. >The pair end up, side by side, singing their hearts out.
1643. >And Sunset, the conscience girl that she’s become, still gives Twilight the lion’s share the microphone by holding it down and closer to her face during their duet.
1644. >Not that the redhead needs it as much anymore but
  1645. >Wait
1646. >A sudden creaking sound nearly interrupts Twilight’s singing
1647. >Looking down, she gapes, suddenly realizing that Sunset’s not the one holding the microphone down.
1648. >Rather, the Princess is the one growing up.
1649. >And at a rather seam popping rate!
1650. >Resisting the urge to bury her face in her singing partner’s arm, the blushing Twilight puts everything she has into the final chorus.
1651. >And then, everything turns to rainbows.
  1652.
  1653.
  1654.
  1655.
  1656. [Epilogue – Sunset Shimmer 2]
  1657.
  1658. >Dear Princess Twilight,
  1659. >
1660. >Well, it’s official; after much deliberation, and no fewer than three repeats of the final at the insistence of the Illusions, the Rainbooms are the winners of the Battle of the Bands Showcase!
1661. >It only took a whole three weeks for us to get here.
1662. >I’m sorry that you couldn’t stick around and see everyone’s faces when we won, or come to the party afterwards, but you know how Pinkie does these things.
1663. >Honestly, it was pretty amazing.
1664. >I hope that everything is going well back in Equestria; I know that you must have a lot on your plate right now being the Princess of Friendship, but I hope that you won’t forget all of us here at Canterlot High.
1665. >Other than the Showcase finally coming to a close, things have been pretty quiet.
1666. >No one’s seen or heard from the Dazzlings since the first final, so I think it’s safe to say that they’re out of the picture for good.
1667. >The little brouhaha where you burst right out of your costume at the climax of the showcase is still the talk of the school, but nobody seems to hold it against you.
1668. >There’s still a scramble to see if anyone has photographs, but Fluttershy has assured me that her friends have taken care of any evidence of your wardrobe malfunction.
1669. >By the way, you can keep the jacket; just think of it as a memento.
1670. >After all, who wouldn’t want to remember sprinting half-naked across campus?
1671. >But I do hope you aren’t feeling any ill-effects from that sudden growth spurt.
1672. >Speaking of, even though we all returned to our normal sizes after defeating the Dazzlings, there’s something strange.
1673. >When the girls pony-up, they tend to be more, hm, statuesque? Curvy?
  1674. >I don’t know, but it’s something like that.
  1675.
1676. >The point being, whenever they pony-up, they seem to retain a little bit of their growth afterwards.
1677. >It wears off over the course of a few days and they return back to their normal size, but Rainbow’s always eager to put on a show, so the petite speedster of CHS isn’t so small anymore!
1678. >I’m interested to see what you think about that, and if it’s dangerous.
1679. >Hey, do you think I can send pictures through this journal?
1680. >Maybe I’ll snap a Polaroid of the girls next time and we can try it so you can see what everyone looks like!
1681. >Anyway, I don’t have to worry about that but I’m still growing all the same.
1682. >It’s a lot slower, thankfully, but I don’t know how long it’s going to be before I’m eye to eye with some of the taller students at CHS.
1683. >Rarity’s super excited about helping me tailor a ‘gradual growth’ line, but I’m not sure if I can be excited about the prospect of not being able to go through doors again.
1684. >With any luck, I’ll taper off again before it gets out of control like before, but if not then I hope that I can come to you if I need help.
1685. >Aside from that, everyone is doing well.
1686. >Applejack wants me to tell you that all of us miss you a lot and hope you’re doing well.
1687. >Let me know how things are going back in Equestria; I’m dying to hear some news about my old stomping grounds.
  1688. >Write you again soon!
  1689. >Your Friend,
  1690. >
  1691. >Sunset Shimmer
