  1. Q: Why are you playing in Japanese?
  2. A: The Japanese version of Colosseum runs infinitely better than the English version on top of having much faster and much less text. The Japanese version saves an estimated 15 minutes on the English version.
  3.
  4. Q: What is the best known time for Japanese?
  5. A: 3:44:23 by BAL TAN (バルタン)
  6.
  7. Q: Why does your final split say JRTA End?
  8. A: Japanese timing for this game includes the credits and my splits abide by those rules. I do however have a split as well that ends when the English timing does (just before the credits) in order to gauge comparisons to English times as well.
  9.
  10. Q: Why do you have questions on your FAQ regarding the Japanese version if this is the English version?
  11. A: Cuz I felt like playing English today for some stupid reason.
  12.
  13. Q: What Pokémon will you use for the run?
  14. A: Espeon and Croconaw/Feraligatr are the main two while Meditite, Umbreon, and Plusle serve some niche use throughout the game.
  15.
  16. Q: Why not get the Master Ball and dupe it for the end of the game's shadow Pokémon?
  17. A: We actually used to do that, but it turns out to be extremely slow to go out of the way for the Master Ball and do the extra menus necessary to dupe it as well as opposed to just defeating the Pokémon normally.
  18.
  19. Q: What stats are you looking for on Espeon/Croconaw?
  20. A: Espeon needs to have a nature that boosts Special Attack (Rash, Mild, Quiet, or Modest) and 81+ Special Attack. Quiet causes issues on a few enemies (namely the shadow Sneasel as well as Electrodes in the labs) and is potentially a reset depending on the Speed IV. Croconaw needs to have at least 56 Attack, 41 Special Attack, and 41 Speed and also needs to have a nature that purifies at a rate of -100 or better through battle (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Heart_Gauge).
  21.
  22. Q: Does this run use any glitches?
  23. A: There is only one glitch that is useful for the speedrun. If you ever notice me use any kind of Poké Ball then switch the position of that item in my bag on the next turn, I am abusing a missed flag in the game's code and this allows me to essentially have infinite amounts of any type of Poké Ball.
