  1. Dear Mr. President,
  2.
  3. My name is Shan Huang. Let me introduce myself and my family briefly. I am a proud US Permanent Resident who came from China in 2006 to pursue my doctoral degree in engineering. My wife Liya Guo is also a US Permanent Resident, also from China and got her doctoral degree in engineering. Our daughter Michelle Huang was born in the US in 2008, when my wife and I were PhD students in Buffalo, NY. After graduation, I worked in Chicago suburb as software engineer for more than 2 years, and then came to the silicon valley in 2014. I worked for major US companies like Google, LinkedIn, and Facebook, and am currently working as a founding engineer in an artificial intelligence startup company. My wife is a software engineer at Facebook.

  5. I became your firm supporter in 2016 after hearing your rally speech on YouTube. Since then, I have been supporting you on all the social networks. I was so happy on the election day and stayed late to see your winning. And after that, I enjoyed victory by victory - inauguration, state of the union speeches, rally by rally, etc. And today, I am sending this email to congratulate you on the winning on the witch-hunt Mueller report!
  6.
  7. There are several other things I want to share with you because I want to see more winning.
  8.
  9. 1. I used to be hesitant about becoming a US citizen. That has changed since your election. Although living in the liberal California, my wife and I are determined to naturalize before you next election and give you two additional votes.
  10.
  11. 2. Your reputation is extremely positive on Chinese social networks. The Chinese people experienced socialism and would never go back. We love a leader that is keeping his promises and willing to fight for the people. Although there is a trade war going on, we believe you and President Xi have the wisdom to sort things out.
  12.
  13. 3. Your merit-based immigration system reform is a great idea that is welcomed by a lot of high-quality foreign students. Please keep going. It has been a pain for Chinese students to get their visa after graduation. In order to get an H1B work visa, we have to undergo a lottery before getting application packet reviewed, which is ridiculous. If I were you, I would eliminate the lottery and let every applicant compete with equal opportunity.
  14.
  15. 4. As a minority group, we sometimes feel that Chinese American are not getting enough attention politically. Most of them vote Democratic because of their lack of knowledge and the feeling of not being noticed. I would strongly suggest you spend a little extra energy, maybe directly say something positive to Chinese Americans. The biggest thing you could help is about educational equality. Chinese American spent so much on education, but they are discriminated a lot that they have to get much higher score than other races in order to get into the same school. This has been a pain and a shame. Nobody cared much until Aug 2018 when our Justice Dept. backed a lawsuit accusing Harvard of discriminating against Asian-American applicants. That was encouraging, but was not from you directly. Would you please consider backing us up? A fair system for college entrance is the biggest thing we need. You know how important education means to Chinese people. At the same time, AOC and Democratic leaders called to punish Asian students because of their academic excellence. Please disavow them if you could!
  16.
  17. That is all for my first email to the US president. I am not sure if our President himself would read this email. But whoever does, I thank you for spending your time!
  18.
