Great Ace Attorney 1 on Citra

1. Download the ROM and the CIA patch file (Eng v2.4.0) from https://www.ziperto.com/dai-gyakuten-saiban-naruhodo-ryunosuke-no-boken-english-patched-2-4-0/
2. Unzip the files wherever you want in some directory. It will be a .3ds and a .cia file, you can delete the Ziperto Internet shortcuts.
3. Download this specific Canary Citra build: https://github.com/citra-emu/citra-canary/releases/tag/canary-1224 . This game heavily varies its performance on what version is used, stable Citra does not run this well at all. Some builds run cutscenes fine then are sluggish elsewhere, some builds are fine then bad cutscenes. This version 1224 seems to hit the sweet spot for me.
4. Unzip the canary-mingw folder from this build. The executable to actually run Citra is citra-qt.
5. Add the directory that the game is in with "Add New Game Directory" when starting up. Now you should see Citra recognize the game, with the protagonist's head as the icon.
6. Go to File > Install CIA and select the CIA patch file. It will automatically patch the game. The icon for the game will change to Scarlet Study's logo.
7. Start up emulation. Title screen should have ENG 2.4.0 on the top right.
8. Under Emulation > Configure > Graphics > Renderer, make sure the resolution is native (you can resize the window to whatever you want later). Disable both "Accurate" checkboxes for slight performance boost.
9. Enjoy the game. If the first cutscene runs fine, you really should be good

If performance is still meh, try another Canary Citra build in the 1200s - might be very dependent on computer specs.
