  1. Thoughts on FF7R so far
  2.
  3. - Characters are much more fleshed out now which is a vast improvement over the original. Minor characters like Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, etc are given a much larger role than in the original. Voice acting is also really good.
  4.
  5. - Music is great. I think in some aspects it is better than the original OST.
  6.
  7. - Graphics are great, besides some issues with texture streaming and some textures just look... unfinished? Some seem almost like they're bugged at times.
  8.
  9. - Lot of slow walking scenes. I get that they're for story telling purposes but... just have cutscenes. I hate having my movement/camera restricted.
  10.
  11. - Combat is hit and miss for me in several areas, that I'll detail below:
  12.
  13. 1. Aerial combat is awful. Some moves you just cannot execute in mid air, despite some enemies almost exclusively staying in the air making some fights just... awkward.
  14.
  15. 2. The A.I teammate wise is kinda... dumb. I get that it's my job to micromanage spells/items and so forth, but the A.I has had plenty of times it has just stood there and eaten a charged attack to the face, or a special attack, etc. I feel the A.I should be more capable in that respect, or I should be able to issue tactics to teammates / order them to move to certain spots/areas without just constantly swapping control.
  16.
  17. 3. Hyper Armour comes and goes at times and it is kinda... diorientating. You fight an enemy that stuns after every hit, then you fight an enemy that only stuns after it is staggered... a lot. The amount that this jumps around leaves, I feel, a feeling of inconsistency to the fights when you first encounter them.
  18.
  19. 4. For the love of god put iframes on the roll, even if they're extremely minor and need perfect timing.
  20.
  21. - The game seems a tad too linear at times. The areas are kinda just corridors at times but what is worse is when the game will disallow you going off the beaten path. In these times "Warning" will appear and Cloud will just automatically leash back to the intended path even if it's you wanting to backtrack after hitting a trigger for an item you missed. Yeah... don't do that.
  22.
  23. Overall, like the game and it is definitely better than the last set of games Square have put out, I would say since FFX honestly. I just hope they iron out some of the stuff before Part 2.
