  1. Just a quick opener, if you ever do use any of this stuff or something, please contact me either here on pastebin, at my twitter @SaSentinels, or at my email SentinelQM@gmail.com
  2.
  3. I'm not doing that for any quality control shit or anything; honestly I just want to see what you guys do with this stuff, haha! Anyway, with that out of the way, he's the preliminary shit. These are my setting notes as of writing this.
  4.
  5. Premise
  6.
  7. A war has devastated the world and turned most of Europe into radioactive wastelands. The tank was the main weapon of this war before the nukes were used, and with so many tanks left, it's only convenient that they would become the main weapon of the people who still survive in this wasteland. Now bandits with armoured vehicles control the wastes, and on the frontiers of society the Tank Hunters have risen to fight them.
  8.
  9. Realism disclaimer
  10. This shit ain't realistic. I know that tanks are horribly complex machines that require constant maintenance to keep running. But it's cool and it's fun, so yeah.
  11.
  12. Climate
  13. The world is hotter than it is today. The wastelands have hardly anything grow, and desertification has progressed in some places in Europe. Sea levels have risen, creating marshlands in some former cities. Finally, there are more extreme weather events, such as large flooding thunderstorms, and snowstorms in winter.
  14.
  15. The American Diaspora
  16. After the nukes dropped and the Great War was ended, a lot of American troops in Europe found that they had no way to get home. Most of them settled where they were, mostly in the Rhineland and in Bavaria, two places relatively untouched by the nuclear devastation. Of course, they did everything they could to keep their culture throughout the years, and now their German-American descendants make up a significant amount of the population in the Kingdom of the Rhine and the Kingdom of Bayern-Osterreich.
  17.
  18. History
  19. Right now it's roughly 140 Post-War (PW). Significant events happened thus:
  20. 110 PW Balkanian invasion of Bayern-Osterreich and the Rhineland
  21. 134 PW Russian invasion of the Rhineland
  22.
  23.
  24. Nations
  25.
  26. Kingdom of the Rhine
  27. The kingdom that Tank Hunters Quest is set in. Made up of today's Elsass, Baden-Wurtenburg, Rhineland-Pfalz, Saarland, Westfalen and parts of Hessen.
  28.
  29. Kingdom of Bayern-Osterreich
  30. Made up of Bavaria and Austria. Has a larger professional army than the Rhineland, but is also generally more peaceful, resorting to diplomacy and the defence of their borders. Has an alliance with the Kingdom of the Rhine and with the Kingdom of Czechoslovakia.
  31.
  32. Republic of Warsaw
  33. Built by the Polish from the ruins of their shattered city and from the nuclear wastelands that Poland had become. Controls vital cities in Poland such as Poznan, Lodz, and Lublin.
  34.
  35. Empire of Russia
  36. Ruled by a Tsar from the inhabitable parts of Moscow. Moscow was obliterated during the Great War, with most of the city becoming too irradiated to inhabit. Some areas, especially underground, escaped the war relatively unscathed, and it is here where the people of Moscow now live their lives. In addition to Moscow, there are several major cities under Russian influence, including St. Petersburg, Stalingrad and Minsk.
  37.
  38. Empire of Balkania
  39. An Empire encompassing the whole of the former Balkan States, from Slovenia to Greece. The nation Yugoslavia was untouched by nuclear weapons, but many wars followed in the wake of the Great War. Eventually the slavs dominated the Balkans, forcing genocide on the other ethnicities of the Central Balkans. They then spread their power south and east, conquering the Greeks and the Bulgarians. They then turned their gaze north, seeking to eliminate the other major powers in their region, the Czechoslovaks and the Germans. They were eventually defeated in a series of wars ending in 110 PW, where their furthest northern reach was Fulda.
  40.
  41. Swiss Confederation
  42. Switzerland maintained its neutrality in the Great War, and has ever since. The Swiss Confederation remains a closed nation, keeping to themselves. However, there are some elements of Swiss Culture that remain linked to international affairs, notably the Swiss Guard.
